Happy Tuesday!
If you’ve been following news about Cozmic One, you know he’s currently training with John Shirreffs at Santa Anita. Photographer Mike Sekulic was there for recent workouts, and he sent us these great photos.
John, along with racing manager Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, will be answering questions in our next edition of Ask The Experts. While they may not tell you when Coz will start racing, they both have decades of knowledge and experience to share. This is a rare opportunity to submit questions for two people who are at the root of Zenyatta’s success. Use the form at the bottom of this post to send us your questions. We’ll pick our favorites, so be creative!
Enjoy!

Thank you so much for once again including us in watching the Queen’s boys develop. Coz looks so businesslike. He’s grown up beautifully. Great pictures, Mike.
Mari
Coz has grown into a beautiful horse, I look forward to his first race and hope he takes after his momma and is a champion!
Lara
When is he expected to race? Can you give us an estimate like, late spring, late summer?
Janie in L.A.
What a beautiful, beautiful boy! Thank you so much for sharing these pictures with us and I can’t wait to hear from John and Dottie.

How beautiful to see gorgeous Coz working!! I absolutely love Coz’s appearance on the track with every single photo! His ears are so alert like Zenyatta’s ears and also with those kind eyes in some photos. I love him so much. Mike, you have taken awesome photos of our Queens first son. With that being said our Coz is leading the way and will probably have a lot on his shoulders. He is my boy. Thank you Mike.
Will the Zenyatta connection pick out a photo that they could sell in the Z shop?? I am so hoping. I am excited!

Well, I am so impressed I can hardly contain myself. I just have to mention one other thing that I noticed in every single one of these photos. Coz looks so confident.
He comes across as very sure of himself.
All the best to you Coz.

Wow is he gorgeous or what! That is one hunk of a colt. I hope he has the same luck at racing as his beautiful Mother did. I pray for safety and success for this young man and his brother. God ride with you boys!

Thank you Team Z for sharing these wonderful pictures with us. Coz is one handsome colt! I agree with everybody else that he sure does look like his Mom. John is taking very good care of our boy. He knows how special he is to the Mosse’s and all his fans out here. I’m sure he is very special to John and Dottie to. John will take the time needed to get Coz just right before he races him. I have all the faith in John. Take care beautiful boy and listen to John for he knows what’s best for you. Love you Cozmic!
PatB from NM
CoZ looks to be very compact compared to his mom. Wonder if he’ll get rangier as he matures. He’s a beauty. Thanks for sharing. Love always to Z and her babies.

Thank you so much! Just in time for my 79th birthday and I’m sharing it for sure! Nice to have my school buddy Bruce Headley honored last night by CTBA by being inducted into their Hall Of Fame and now this exceptional update on Cozmic One.
Anne from Paramount
Hey, Coz, Oh Handsome 0ne: do you ever see me wave or hear me shout hello from Clockers’ Corner as you whiz by? I doubt it as you are SO focused on your job. :-) It really does seem as though you have followed Linda from NJ’s advice. Thanks to Mike for these close-ups; they are terrific!! Another BIG :-). I look forward to the Q & A. Thanks for taking the time do this, John and Dottie.

Coz gives me chill bumps…he looks intent and confident on the track!! Mom’s intimidation factor has been passed on for sure. John’s patience I’m sure has been tried and while TC is probably in the cards perhaps the summer Derby will be a goal???
Thanks to Team Z for sharing so much with us and making us feel we’re a part of her special family
Louise Spadafora
Thank you, Team Z!!! WOW, Coz is really looking more mature with each update! What a beautiful colt, and it seems he is starting to understand his job as a race horse with John’s help. :-)

Thank you Team Z and Mike for a peak into Cozmic One’s world. He looks happy and confident like his mom. Can’t wait for John and Dottie to “school us” about his progress and the decision-making process. Dottie will always be a fantastic teacher and John’s training insights are always great to hear, what a perfect pair.

I am speechless by these pictures of Coz. He is so handsome and professional. I read many of the other comments and I agree with what others are saying… he is so alert and intelligent on the track. John is doing such a fantastic job with him. He looks so confident.
What a joy to watch him mature.
Thank you so much for this glimpse at him. These pictures are FANTASTIC!!!

Thanks once again Team Z for sharing with us. What great pics. I was wondering about CoZ and how he was doing at Santa Anita. He is so handsome and professional looking. Much love to Z and CoZ and Zi here for us to enjoy and to Z Princess in the Lord’s meadow who lives in my heart.

Thanks, Team Z and Mike. Wow, Coz, wow!
I am blown away! Very exciting.
Mary
No doubt, Coz has been stamped by his mother. He looks so much like her it is incredible. Thanks so much for sharing him with us.
Jen
I’m kind of sad that it looks like neither Coz, nor Jess’s Dream, will be racing in time for the Derby. While I want them both remaining healthy, I can’t imagine I’m alone in holding out hope to see at least one of them in Kentucky that first Saturday in May! I keep checking this site and Bloodhorse.com almost daily in hopes of seeing an announcement of a first race date on the horizon.
Thanks for the lovely pictures! Stay safe, Coz!
Darlene Daniels
Jen,
I understand your feelings. My first experiences of TB horseracing were all about the Triple Crown, When Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra were preganant with these guys I had vision of the 2015 Triple Crown trail being all about Zenyatta and Rachel’s boys, Quess they are not ready, Disappointing, but greater things are yet to come.

Coz is a far cry from the gangly, squealing youngster who raced around the paddock at LE. He is the spitting image of his fabulous mom. We love every photo…thank you so much for sharing them with us.

Hi!
What is that “awful” looking white “thing” on Coz’s face that comes down to his
mouth?
What is its function?
Coz is so beautiful and resembles his mother.
I am so eager to watch him race.
Thank you!
Lise from Maine
Kristin
That “white thing” is a device that is used to help keep the bit high in his mouth. If you remember I’ll Have Another, he used one as well. It is soft, and just another tool used to help him.
Shari Voltz/ Ohio
Hi Coz these are Beautiful I will show the children tomorrow !!!! I love you, your brother and your mom. Shari Voltz and my 5th Graders : )
Kimberly
What a handsome boy! He’s growing up so fast. Thank you for the beautiful pictures.
