Happy Wednesday!
As most of you know, we went to Florida at the beginning of the month to check in with Coz who has been at Mayberry Farm in Ocala for two months now. Jeanne Mayberry established the farm in 2000 and now runs it with the help of her daughters Summer and April. Today they are teaching Cozmic One the skills and routine that Zenyatta learned in 2005.
In this video from our visit you’ll see Ann, Jerry and John Shirreffs observe Coz’s morning from stall time right through to his post workout bath. Video and photos by Tyler Matson and Kyle Acebo.
We look forward to interviewing Jeanne about the process of breaking yearlings and her experience throughout the years. And in the next few weeks, the staff at Mayberry Farm will be answering questions from the fans in our Mayberry Farm Edition of Ask The Experts. Submit your questions below!
Happy Thanksgiving!
-Team Z
Edit: Submissions to Ask The Experts are now closed. Thanks to all participants!

Thank you SO much for this wonderful post! It looks like Coz is coming along great. I loved seeing Ann, Jerry, and John Shirreffs all there. Coz seemed to enjoy the attention. He has grown into a beautiful animal. The pictures are great and the video is awesome. Thank you again! :)

MY GOD, he looks like his mother! Very cool to have the opportunity to see his behind the scenes start.

Thank you for letting us in on Coz’s progress. Terrific to see how he’s coming along. When he hits three yr old status he should be quite the handsome racer. :) Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas :)

Not much I can add to the comments already posted. Thank you so much for sharing Coz with all of Zenyatta’s fans. A wonderful Thanksgiving gift.

He takes my breath away. Thank you so much for sharing Zenyatta and her journey with us. :)

he looks so much like Zen. Its amazing how mellow he is, and how he likes baths so much. he coat looks so smooth. I wish my horse’s coat was that flat or smooth… or that he would stand still that well. and the cutest part? when he was led back to his stall he carried the lead in his mouth, almost saying “i can do it myself”

Thank you for the video was great to
see this beautiful boy.

First I would like to say how absolutely wonderful it is to watch Ann with Coz — since his birth, she has been there, and you can see that he completely knows her, which is just delightful.
Second, what a handsome boy he has turned in to, and I am certain is mother is just beaming with pride. I cannot wait to see him run, and to learn what John thinks about his future chances.
I am sure all is bright — so much potential, and if used correctly…who knows :-)

Coz, what a beauty you are!! One can certainly tell that you are your mama’s boy! Love, love, love the kiss-fest. You be a good boy now, and keep us posted on all the goings on down in FL. We are so thankful to the Mosses and Mayberry Farm. I guess that is “Team Coz” now. Wonderful Thanksgiving gift to us all.
@Dawn Conrad–thank you for the wonderfully lovely card. That is a favorite piece of music of mine. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving time as well. Hugs.

Barbara-Too bad Baylor threw in a clunker against Oklahoma State. I expect the team to rebound big time.

Thank you so much to the connections of TeamZ and Mayberry Farm!
Z, Coz, and not so baby 13Z are a treasure to us, especially Z who is a one of a kind creature. Sharing them with us is a gift we all appreciate more than you will probably ever know.
Family is meant to be shared at Thanksgiving.
Thank you for being like family to us all year long.

Thank you so much for keeping every one updated on Coz’s training. Ya’ll are doing an awesome job Team Mayberry, he is coming right along. Get the blankets out, it’s supposed to be 30 here in Ocala tomorrow morning. Happy Thanksgiving Team Z and Team Mayberry!

He sure is his mothers son, isn’t he? SUCH a lovely, well balanced colt! When he fills out that frame he will be a force to be reckoned with. Thank you for keeping us all in the loop with him!
Barbara Brayton
Cos looks so good. I love it when his ears are at half mast. Such a good boy.

I, too, got tears in my eyes watching the video and seeing the photos. LOVE the nose bumps by Coz with Ann kissing him, him asking for more kisses. LOVE seeing he doesn’t quite have steering down yet, hence the round pen! He is such a big boy already – has to be at least 16 hands if not bigger. Lane’s End did such a good job getting him used to being handled, and it really appears the Mayberry group is doing a great job with getting him legged up. THANK YOU Team Z and the Mosses for keeping all Z’s fans, and by extension Coz’s fans and 13Z’s fans (and eventually all of her babies) up on all the news with her and her babies, no matter how old they get! Hard to believe Coz could be racing a year from now! Hope they wait, but…… time will tell. He’s a beautiful colt, and did you see his HUGE walking stride? He oversteps a good couple of hoofprints already – sign him up for dressage if racing doesn’t work! (kidding – I know he’ll go to stud directly – just sayin’……).
SharonAtlanta
I so agree. He already has such a large stride at his young age. I think that’s his Momma coming out in him. That looks like a draw-rein bridle with a standing martingale to teach him to stay on the bit. I’m also so glad to see John there. I so hope CoZ goes to John when he’s ready. No one knows yet if he has the speed needed for the track but one thing I know for sure, if he doesn’t, he’ll always have a good home and that’s such a comforting thought. Can’t wait to ask some questions of the Mayberry folks.

Thank-you so much for the videos they were such a welcome sight this am. This Baby is simply Stunning. He is so big now, and WOW!!!!! what a guy. The words escape me, there aren’t enough adjectives in the English Language to describe Coz, for some reason they all seem inadequate. I will be watching these videos over and over again, Thank-You Team Z for such a wonderful gift. May all of Team Z and fans have a wonderful SAFE, and Happy Holiday Season

It’s just a wonderful treat at this special Thanksgiving time to be given the opportunity to see Cozmic One and the visit by Team Z.
I just love that boy and he looks to be doing so well. So much to learn for all these youngsters but he looks like he’s learning well.
I know he must have had some nice treats as well as kisses from his mom. Too cute!
Happy Thanksgiving to ALL.

Team Z. the Mosses, and Team Mayberry,
Thank you so much……..what a treat it is just to see a little portion of his life. He is so big and beautiful, and so well mannered and SWEET. I loved watching his bath and those fabulous Zenny EARS!!! Just can’t get enough of watching him and Ann interact. I wonder what John thought of him, would love to get his impression. Love it!!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL

Asking all of the thoroughbred experts out there in Zenny land:
Doesn’t Coz have a marvelous balanced conformation like Bernadini?
He looks to have Zenny’s powerful hindquarters and butt.
Wow, what a handsome boy.
And I loved that same loud whinny that Zenny made as a yearling at Keeneland.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving and a terrific holiday season.
Darlene Daniels
Oh my goodness. Thank you so much Team Z and Mayberry Farm for sharing CoZ with us.
Dear Zenny, I never thought I could love another horse as much as I love you, but from the tears streaming down my face as I watched the video of Coz proved me wrong. Love to you, Coz and little Secretariot.
Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to all, especially all of you taking such good care of Zenyatta, Cozmic One and 13Z.
