We have a feeling that many of you have heard the news! Cozmic One has arrived at Belmont to train with John Shirreffs. We initially kept it under wraps because there is already enough excitement in New York surrounding this weekend’s Belmont Stakes.
If you’re anxious to hear about his introduction to John’s barn, you’ll find more information here on the blog next week. We’ll be sharing photos and video of his arrival along with a little news about what has happened since.
Be sure to check back tomorrow. We have a very special edition of Ask The Experts for you, and it features some experts who know Coz quite well.
Enjoy!

Maiden races at 4! This guy isn’t even grown yet. I can’t share in the excitement due to training and running too young. I wish him soundness and wish the industry would evolve for the betterment of horses.
Sharon Harner from Oregon
I can just imagine the pride and thrill it will be for John to train the Baby of the Great Zenyatta Knowing he will take time and compassion training this young boy It is quite gracious of them not to make an issue of him being there this weekend of the BELMONT . But I do hope they do soon. I have followed the Great Zenyatta ever since the 1st time I saw her on TVG, never missed a race. Let’s just all hope and pray that the
Great CALIFORNIA CHROME comes for the Triple Crown..
HeidiK, Vallejo,Ca
All I can say is, WOWSERS!! Coz you are so regal looking and the eye, tells it all. Best of luck with your training with John.
Elizabeth in Oregon
What a great surprise! I’ll never forget counting the moments till he was born! Such a handsome boy. Nice that he’s with John who will take such good care of this baby.
Thanks for the pics. Love those Z ears.
Kelli Arnette
He is absolutely beautiful! Wishing him good luck good health and much love. Thank you so much for the updates on these horses who we have adopted into our hearts!
Allie in Texas
Since many of you helped me with the Omaha Project, I wanted you to know that Omaha’s Nebraska groom, Morton Porter, passed away this week. I had the opportunity to meet with him in May. Mort still had lots of good Omaha stories to tell. I’m sure Morton and Omaha will be watching the race together this weekend to see if there will be a 12th Triple Crown winner. Rest in Peace, Morton Porter.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Allie, thank you for letting us know of Mr. Porter’s passing. Am so glad that you got to meet him and hear the stories of Omaha. I am certain that they are together again and catching up on old times. RIP Morton Porter
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Allie:
RIP Mr. Porter. Love and Hugs, JB

The ceremonies have already begun in Europe for the 70th anniversary of the D-day landings. The great and the good will be at Normandy but I prefer to remember the extraordinary soldiers, airmen and sailors who gave their lives that long day in the cause of freedom. If you have a few minutes in your busy lives tomorrow, spare a thought for them. They died for us so we could live.It was the beginning of the end…..
.God bless you all.Love and hugs Sheena.
They shall not grow old,as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,and in the morning we WILL remember them.
LEST WE FORGET.
Max
Sheena. I always remember D Day. WWII reading is a hobby, and I must have seen The Longest Day so many times that I have the dialogue memorized. Hopefully they will show it again tomorrow. Would not mind seeing Mrs Miniver again too. The acting in that film is first class. Like Lady Beldon calling the Germans wretched as she escaped to her cellar.
The Cozmic One looks exactly like his name.
16 in the Derby, but no Dettori? Chaucer’s a Montjeu. Watch out Australia.
Cirrus is heading to Epsom via the Chunnel. Sounds like he’s ready to win again. See that the race is being dedicated to St. Nick. Miss Nick, a very nice horse.
Free the Moose. Power up Danny, but get some rest too, Danno.
Bluegrass Girl
Sheena
No, we will never forget that day and the sacrifices made for freedom!
Thank you for the reminder.
Chester Nez, the last of the Navajo code talkers died this week.
We are slowly losing all those who participated in WWII
Lest we forget!

Beautiful thoughts, Sheena. What a different world it would have been if not for them. Hugs.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Just watched a program on PBS about the Normandy Invasion. This one was about the US Navy ships that were involved. Very emotional commentary by some of the veterans who were there. Heroes all. Love and Hugs, JB

All I can say is wow!!!! He’s a great looker. Can’t wait to see him turn those corners on the track running for the win. Best of luck Coz.

Every horse deserves a trainer like John…. Cozmic One is a stately, gorgeous horse (like his Mom) – but he is Cozmic One – an individual. (It’s probably a good thing he has no cognition of how he is looked at, by being the son of Z – wow- pressure! ) At any rate – very good news – & blessings wished for all….
Ellen Brayshaw
What wonderful news. Coz conqours Belmont track he will conquer the world..lol…Z team he looks spectacular and is in good hands..The best of luck…El

Great news!!!

OMG…where do I start. Each of you here have already expressed the excitement and appreciation we all feel. Team Z is all class, not wanting to upstage The Belmont this weekend by being low-key knowing anything Zenny related will make the news. Coz looks so much like her that I become so emotional…his look and presence. Been coming here for years and this site “feeds my soul”. I’m not the only one am I . Sure John and Frank are so thrilled to have this wonderful opportunity to extend Zenny’s legacy. C’mon California Chrome!!! We all love you too! So adore your owners and trainers who are truly honest and caring people much like The Mosses.

Sheena. Yes, I have seen that movie several times on TV. Very good.
Count on me to remember D Day. D Day is current events in terms of combined military operations. I remember the Battle of Hastings. Hastings is also one of my favorite bad boy horses.
Looking forward to hearing the results of the Derby from you. Exciting day all around the horse world.
Free the Moose! Power up Danny!

Coz–just look at you!!! You are all dappled out, just like Mom. It seems like only yesterday that you were running around the paddock, snorting and playing chase with your Mom. May God keep you safe always.
@diastu–welcome back!
Marshall (NC Broad)
Thanks so much for the great shots of Coz! Look forward to more on him at Belmont next week! He certainly looks wonderful — Mama is proud of her first born, I’m sure.
All the Best, Always
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
This is such a wonderful treat! Coz is SO grown up and gorgeous. I’m not sure who “Frank” is that people are mentioning. Obviously someone on John’s team. I wonder if Coz knows what an important weekend this is at Belmont? Is he asking these famous horses for autographs? Imagine having all of these role models right there with him! Can’t wait for the next installment! Thanks so much Team Z.
GO CHROMIE!
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
Thank you, Thank you team Z!! Coz is so stunning, such a soft kind eye; he is as handsome as Zenyatta is beautiful. Yet Coz is so cute with those ears! He has grown and is ready for the big step and I will have prayers for him each step of the way!!
I know John will be the great judge he is and will be his protector until time is right.
Love you with kisses Zenyatta and to Coz, Ziconic and our Zprincess
Auntie Sally B Goodnight and sweet dreams

Zsters, I am excited for tomorrow because I am riding up about 45 min. away with two other volunteers who love Sir too. I will get a chance to see Sir and I hope he will understand me when I say I love him, he needs to settle down a bit and start eating.
When you think of it Sir is adjusting to a whole new environment and of course Lilly the big mare. Evidently Lilly is the alpha and for her to let Sir eat her feed she has accepted him for sure. I have to see Sir and see this all for myself.
According to a nearby animal communicator, Sir is adjusting there, but according to a volunteer that followed the trailer and when he arrived, Sir recognized the first owner but she did not respond to him at all. She was just doing a humane thing by bringing Sir back home. I am really excited to see Sir!!! It is just not the same with out him. In fact I noticed that the remaining now all rest in the stalls as close as they could possibly get to one another.
Here’s to the greatest ride, a smart ride, for Calif Chrome!! Does he take Chrome out fast and hopefully be able to move over? Does he ease out and move over? Every second counts!! I just don’t want him locked in!! I am so excited and yet very anxious about this Belmont.
My heart and prayers are with you California Chrome. Safe race for all horses and jockeys.
Have a wonderful Belmont week- end, hugs, Sally B
Judy Berube From Rhode Island

What brilliant PR timing. I’ll bet this is just the start of the attention he’s going to be getting (and deserving). What a look about him! Just stops me in my tracks.
Paula Higgins
He is really a gorgeous horse!!! He will be in the best hands with John Shirreffs.
Louise Spadafora
Coz,
You are so grown up, and you look so much like your beautiful mother. You have the look of eagles in your eye! May the spirit of your sire and dam, and the splendid generations of champions and stakes winners in you family contribute to you success with YOUR JOHN.
I was looking back at your baby pictures (again) just the other day, and enjoyed seeing you as a squealing, galloping, chasing, rolling colt. But, I also saw something that I had over looked. As a very young colt, you had that special look of the eagle in your presence!
Stay safe, please! Can’t wait to follow the rest of your training and your first races.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Coz
