Everything needs attention. We need attention, we need a touch of the divine, a reassurance that we are children tenderly revered. Our needs are met and our love and compassion are turned outward to care about things and people around us.
Giving attention is a sacred promise, a word spoken to us, for us, and by us. The word creates and brings out of the invisible everything that operates a world of activity. Nothing can stop it but our denial. This makes saying something very important-important that we speak right. Not only to cause right conditions but to remain children tenderly cherished. Words are life and death-choose life.
It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and broken promises.

Dear Kathy.Great devotional for a Monday! The dreaded day!and I have Wimbledon withdrawal symptoms! It was such a glorious 2 weeks but the British open(golf) starts Thursday and the 2nd ashes test.Sad news about CC he may retire now.Zoe’s team won and she’s getting much better.Wittle Katy is eating her food bless her she has recovered well from her seizures and sickness. The “bobs” look unhappy in the wind and rain Monty caught 34 fish last week.It promises a very unsettled week in the UK.Remember James and Bob they are taking their 1st trip abroad in September promoting their new book. Many were scared of Bob flying but they are travelling by train. He has well over 300,000 friends now.Such a precious photo of Joey today can hardly believe it’ll soon be a year since he died. The Ratties had a good time in Sam Diego.I hope we hear all about their abventure.Prince William started work today with the air ambulance in east Anglia. He said Princess Charlotte is a joy and George a little monkey.Have a great day and turtle in your sock!Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.
It’s always when an event you’ve been following ends. “Now what???” Look forward to what is to come. That is sad that CC may retire now. It’s great to see little Zoe doing so much better. And Katy! Her recovery is nothing short of miraculous. Poor “bob” in the wind. At least Papa is keeping them well fed. I hope James and Bob sell lots of books. And bon voyage to them. The pic of Joey was stunning. Hard to believe it’s almost a year since we lost him. The ratties’ Sam Diego stories are sure to be entertaining. Poor Prince William…back to the drudgery of everyday life. Have as good a day as possible. Do lots of turtling! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Sorry to hear about California Chrome being out for the year. After seeing the photos of him as i said during an earlier post, he was in no condition to run in the Arlington Million.
I am so glad he is back in Art Sherman’s hands. Of course, that is assuming he will race again next year. Only his owners have that answer. I wish the best to CC and his team.
He is an exciting horse with a lot of talent.
Hope Coz is doing well and of course Queen Z and Ziconic.
Did you know that in the UK they use less carbohydrates than we do so
their horses are leaner and more muscular- he has a lot of nice rippling
muscles !!!!!
Sad about CC. I thought he looked awfully thin in his arrival photos. I hope he finds a happy home and gets to meet lots of lovely ladies. I will never forget the glory of his victories in the Santa Anita Derby, the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. He brought so much joy to all of us. The discussion of Coz and Zic reminds me of a tv commercial. The one where the lady has her first born and everybody has to sanitize their hands before touching him. The second baby she hands off to a grease covered mechanic while she digs in her purse. Draped in silk or an old feed sack Zic is one fantastic specimen. Can’t way to see the next War Front/Zenyatta production. I know they will make us all happy and proud. On a personal note we had a robbery at home last night. Someone stole my brothers four wheeler right from in front of his house. Earlier they had stolen another one and ran it into our back barbed wire fence. Within hours the felons were caught and all property returned to the owners. It’s scary to think of someone roaming around your property as you sleep peacefully.
California Chrome out for the year with injury
By Marcus Hersh Daily Racing Form 07/12/2015
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – California Chrome, the 2014 Kentucky Derby winner and Horse of the Year, is out of the Arlington Million and unlikely to race again in 2015 after being diagnosed with a bruised cannon bone, trainer Art Sherman said Sunday afternoon.
California Chrome has been stabled at Arlington since Tuesday, when he arrived back in the U.S. from England, and his connections were hoping to race him Aug. 15 in the Arlington Million. Sherman said California Chrome had undergone comprehensive X-rays late this week while being vetted out for a possible sale to breeders, at which point the cannon bone bruise was detected. http://www.drf.com/news/california-chrome-out-year-injury
Excerpt from Daily Racing Form article:
Sherman said he had just found out about the injury situation from majority owner Perry Martin, who bred and has campaigned California Chrome with partner Steve Coburn. Sherman said, to his knowledge, the prospective sale had been called off after the X-ray findings and that he wasn’t certain where California Chrome would recuperate from the injury, which will require a rest period, or even whether the colt might race again.
Thanks for these updates on Chromie. Hope he gets to recoup in surroundings that he knows and loves with people that love him. He’s a beautiful, courageous boy and very, very special. Love him. Love and Hugs, JB

Lady Eli has laminitis
David Grening , Daily Racing Form Belmont Park , 2015-07-13
Lady Eli has developed laminitis in her front feet, according to trainer Chad Brown.
Brown said she is in stable and guarded condition at Belmont Park.
Brown said Lady Eli stepped on a nail walking back from test barn to his barn at Belmont following her victory in July 4 Belmont Oaks.
“Despite our efforts, including a talented team of veterinarians, Lady Eli’s injury has led to her developing laminitis,” Brown said. “Thankfully, we have assembled the best possible team of veterinarians and farriers to stabilize her and assist her through these difficult times. I ask that all of her fans keep this magnificent racehorse in their prayers and hopefully she will be back on the racetrack flashing her brilliance again.” http://live.drf.com/nuggets/18140

Absolutely gutted to hear the news about Lady Eli developing laminitis.
My thoughts are with her and her connections for a big recovery!
OMG, this is just the saddest news. Praying to St. Francis to help this beautiful filly recover. Power Up gorgeous girl. Like Mr. Brown very much and my heart goes out to him and LE’s Team. Yet again, another sad example of the fragility of our beloved TBs. Love and Hugs, JB
This is exactly why I was worried about The Beast. Anything concerning the hoof can lead to this. Hope that there is a good outcome for her like Paynter.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Have to say Lady Eli’s pain is bringing back sad memories of Dubai. Praying that she has a strong enough immune system to fight this. Love and Hugs, JB
Did Paynter just have the Laminitis in one hoof or another also.
Max
Actually it appeared to be much worse for Paynter. I think that the laminitis affected all of his feet. He also had other issues. Hoping that this filly improves. This is a terrible disease.
BGG,
Just saw that about Lady Eli on Bloodhorse.com. Hope she is with a vet team that has had some success in treating this malady. She is such a brilliant girl and this is so sad. Offering prayers up to St. Francis for her healing.
Eclipse award winner Main Sequence has been retired due a tender injury. The Niarchos family feels he owes them nothing and he will stay with Graham’s brother for the time being.2nd to Camelot in the Epsom Derby in 2012 he blossomed in the US with Graham Motion.I pray he has the happiest of retirements.I know he will be well-cared for,SheenaX
He won the Breeders’ Cup Turf in 2014. I’m sorry to hear about this because the horse was only 6. He was in his prime as a gelding. A nice chestnut too. Hope that they can find a second career for him. He will be well cared for, but he needs a job to focus his attention and for something to do.
He could be the barn monitor/hall monitor over at Fair Hill and keep that Beast crowd in order.
Happy life for the beautiful chestnut.
Max
He’s going to need help with that. Maybe Motion can send some additional reinforcements to assist. The Beast and his pals could be a source of gainful employment for a lot of horses.
Dear Max.I visited Kauto’s twitter page today.Paul’s horses are coming in from the field in readiness for the new season.Remember how Kauto used to coach Silvi?Paul has always kept in touch with them.I belong to Moosie’s fan club on FB now.Hopefully we will get some more pics of him on holiday. The Sussex Stakes should be great this year with a mouth-watering clash between Gleneagles and Solow but we can’t rule out Night of Thunder and Toormore.Ryan looks to be out for a while de Sousa is favourite for the jockey’s title now.Sheena.
I’m still upset about Kauto. Kauto also used to bully Masterminded. Kauto really disliked that horse. He got away with it because Smith owned Masterminded.
Moose will be cheering for Toormore. Any of those horses could win.
A friend of mine in Calgary sent me a video of how they load the broncos to travel to and from the Calgary Stampede. There is none of this walking each individually up a ramp like TBs with padded head gear and padded legs. Those horses charge up the ramp on their own. It’s wild. They exit the same way. Do not get in their way. Full speed ahead. A guy mentioned that the horses have their own friends in the herd and usually stick together. They will accept treats at the rodeos but do not expect to give them a hug or put your hand out if you care about keeping it. They are unbroken. Pretty amazing to see this.
Dear Max.I feel the same about Kauto.I’ve had tennis to take my mind off the accident for a while.I stillShee expect to see his cheeky messages and neighs.Denman used to be quite a grumpy so-and-so always turning his backside to visitors Kauto loved all the attention.Gosh, those horses are pretty wild. Not to be meddled with!Sheena.
Know how you feel. Kauto and Denman together were really special. Now Denman hunts alone. Sad. If you were here, you could watch CNN for distraction until Coz races again. The 2016 campaign for President has already started. Then there’s various prison breaks and a mysterious beach explosion in Rhode Island. Last week was shark week on the Discovery Channel. Saratoga starts soon.
Those broncos travel all over North America from Texas to Alaska and all points in between by huge vans. They are the real stars of those shows. Guy was explaining how the peeps have to arrange everything far in advance and check out where the horses are staying to see that the paddocks are suitable and that the food is just right. Also have to have lots of papers in order to get across the border. Vets check them out before they go between U.S. and Canada. One of the veteran Calgary horses on the circuit is called John Wayne. He supposedly is placed with younger horses in order to keep the younger ones calm. Personally, I think that, when he’s with them, he’s telling the young ones how to throw the riders. They’re listening.
Dear Judy.Thoughts and prayers for Lady Eli.She’s so young.A new series of Poldark starts over here next January.Such a long time to wait and see the gorgeous Aidan!!!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
God bless this wonderful filly. I know we have a Triple Crown Champ this year, but it’s also been a terrible year for some. Shared Belief, California Chrome, Lady Eli, Main Sequence and others. Jeez, how fragile our beloved sport is. Lots of prayers needed now for our four legged wonderful, beautiful creatures.
Yes, it has been a sad year with all the injuries. I have been looking for updates on Shared Belief and found this on his Facebook page. Beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB
Just read about Lady Eli. Just a stab to the heart. Oh Dear Lord not another.
Power Up beautiful girl. Pray so hard they fight this like they did for Paynter.
Praying real hard for you our beautiful girl. This is just the hardest.
I don’t mean to be rude, but , this is a blog about Cozmic One, Zenyatta, Ziconic. It is rude and inappropriate to discuss others on Zenyatta’s website. This is Queen Z’s website.
Zenyatta often discussed other horses and horse sport events in her diary. She once wore a cheese hat. Her point was to involve fans in racing. Silence is the death knell for any sporting activity. When there is nothing to say about the first family of racing until the next blog entry by Team Z, people talk about other horses, especially the fillies and mares. It does not indicate rudeness or disrespect for Zenyatta who invariably takes center stage whenever there is news of her or her young ones or other Moss horses. This shows instead an on going interest in the sport in which Zenyatta is the Queen, and which she inspired in so many.
Max,
Amen! Well said.
If I see a post I am not particularly interested in or don’t want to read, I just scroll down to the next one. We have all shared so much over the years. Our joys when our favs do well and our sorrows when one is injured or passes on.
Amen! I look forward to all the comments about horses from Z’sters and I learn so much from them. So appreciate Z’s Team sharing her and her babies with us and giving us this wonderful Blog to communicate our feelings and love of Z, COZ, ZI and all horses. Love and Hugs, JB
In mentioning other horses, we do so to show our admiration, love and wishes for their good health. Far from rude, more like showing kindness and compassion.
Of course, Zenny makes the world a better place.
Eating the greens Grandmother gathered was a trial, an imposition on a child remembering the fried or roasted meats of wintertime. But she persisted in gathering them and she insisted that I eat them because their medicinal properties would ward off many diseases.
Grandmother would have been appalled at many things from fast-food to the tasteless cooking of greens. She was the matriarch and in many ways remains so, because her mindset set our minds and even now an unwanted salad comes with the command, “Eat!” We remember and are the better for it.
Our village was healthy and there was no place in the country possessing such advantages.

About discussing other horses on this site: I’m sure if Team Zenyatta didn’t want us talking about other horses here, the Web Team would tell us. Since they haven’t, it must be OK.
Dear Kathy.Unlike many children I loved my greens especially cabbage and I eat brussel sprouts all the year not just at Christmas.Have you seen that wonderful video of Soda Pop the lamb?I was in tears when he finally got to walk.Judy posted such a lovely message about wittle Katy and how she is improving also the abuse she suffered at the hands of humans when she was living in the puppy farm.Yet more tears. She is finding it difficult to pay all the vets bills. She will get help I know. Our neighbours the French are celebrating their big day and I hope it will be dry for St Swithin’s tomorrow. It was still wet here this morning. There is no live streaming on the Dyfi today no broadband connection but a photo of Glesni watching her “bobs” and Blue 24!Yes,she is still there! The ratties got visitors yesterday and did well with the Q&A’s.Earl Grey is hoping to become Prime Minister of Canada! He is the most beautiful cat!Would do a better job than the humans I know!Hope you have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
I like greens, too! They do have to have some flavor, though. Yes, I saw the Soda Pop video. You couldn’t help but cry. Bless him and his human caregivers! So glad Katy is improving. I’m sure many will contribute to help pay those vet bills. Zoe is going to fly us over to France on her supersonic aeroplane. She’s picking me up! Wow…Blue 24 hung around. She really sticks with it, doesn’t she? The ratties were enjoying some ice cream cones from Trader Joe’s. Ice cream AND chocolate. YUM! Good luck to Earl Grey on becoming Prime Minister. I’m sure many are willing to vote for him! Happy Tiesday. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
So grateful that Zenyatta, Coz and Zi are healthy and doing well.
When I hear or read about injuries to other horse either racing or retired, it is comforting to know that the Queen and her boys are safe and sound.
I do know that many other farms, race horse owners follow Z on instagram and this website. It is a very large and extended family.
I am sure Ann and Jerry Moss can relate to what the other owners go through. This site does celebrate all things Zenyatta and they do a fantastic job keeping her fans updated as much as they can. Lane’s End is generous with their staff and time as well.
It might be a rumour but I have heard CC is being shipped to Taylor Made farm in Lexington on Wednesday.Hopefully he will have a long and happy life there.Sheena
Sometimes horses go to farms for rest and rehab, when their owners do not have their own farms like Frank Stronach or Bill Farish do. Uncle Mo was at Winstar for 2 or 3 months when he was ill. He came back to the track at Saratoga, and retired later that year after the Breeders’ Cup to Ashford. Might be the same for Chromie. His career may not be over. We’ll see.

Dear Donna:
Yes, it has been a sad year with all the injuries. I have been looking for updates on Shared Belief and found this on his Facebook page. Beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

Just read about Lady Eli. Just a stab to the heart. Oh Dear Lord not another.
Power Up beautiful girl. Pray so hard they fight this like they did for Paynter.
Praying real hard for you our beautiful girl. This is just the hardest.

Will be on my knees, Lady Eli. Many prayers.

I hear ya Peggy. It just breaks my heart. Where in Georgia are you? I’m from LaGrange, living in Wyoming now since 2002.

Dear BGG,
Happy Belated Birthday!
Hope you had a wonderful day and will have a great year — and many more!

I don’t mean to be rude, but , this is a blog about Cozmic One, Zenyatta, Ziconic. It is rude and inappropriate to discuss others on Zenyatta’s website. This is Queen Z’s website.
Max

You hit the nail on the head. Absolutely correct. The Z family loves all creatures.

Dear Max:
Amen! I look forward to all the comments about horses from Z’sters and I learn so much from them. So appreciate Z’s Team sharing her and her babies with us and giving us this wonderful Blog to communicate our feelings and love of Z, COZ, ZI and all horses. Love and Hugs, JB

Adding a belated but sincere Amen Max!

In mentioning other horses, we do so to show our admiration, love and wishes for their good health. Far from rude, more like showing kindness and compassion.
Of course, Zenny makes the world a better place.

Very well said, dear neighbor! I totally agree with you and Max.
Thank you and all the very best, always.

I agree with Max. We are all friends here and love more than one horse. Everyone keep talking. How else can we find all this interesting information?
Donna
I am so upset about Lady Eli, I am praying that she can overcome this, what a horrible thing to happen to this brilliant girl.
Hello to everyone, more bad news, I wonder why these horrible accidents happen to all the great ones.

Donna
God bless all horses.

Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I like greens, too!

We’ll see.
