Well said Vicki. Most of us have other horses that we love along with the Queen and her boys! Great fun to talk about them to others here on the blog and to hear about their other loves. Wonder if Max knows any more about The Big Beast and his injury?
I think Coz will be a late developer like his mum, it would be interesting to see how he would run on turf.
No matter what I will never forget that feisty baby snorting and digging in his paddock and Charles saying everyone is covered in bruises because of his biting, he is such a character.
Thank you for that post, that’s the CoZ I always remember, I always saw him as a little arrogant in a good way and sure of himself. He always loved to run and I for one thought his name should have been, BorntoZtoRun. He is a runner and will not disappoint. Like you said and I add, both his parents were late bloomers and his father was a really good race horse after his 2 year old disastrous year, and except for Invisor in his 3 year campaign or was it his 4th year? ,, he won everything he was entered and handily too. ♥ Dear CoZ
I didn’t get to see a video of you in the paddock. I understand from Omar that you did much better preparing for the race i.e. saddling barn, etc. That says a lot! Omar adores CoZ by the way!
I think the most pathetically funny comment I’ve read so far (I’ve stayed away from the blogs due to the negative remarks but I accidentally came upon this Poster’s comment) to paraphrase: Coz isn’t interested in racing. I think you should make him a pony.
Wow, a million dollar pony! And a handsome one at that! :-)
How many times do we have to reiterate: Zenyatta was a slow starter. Give her offspring (ALL of them) a CHANCE! I’m sure no two will be alike, either.

XO Auntie Judy, I will never give up on Zenyatta’s babies.

I agree with you Auntie Judy (Jag)!!

Coz, is so beautiful, when I was watching the race Matt from TVG he said look at Cozmic One he is so gorgeous.
Yes Coz, you are gorgeous!
Love youuuuuuu!
So eloquently and succinctly stated, thank you. I don’t know why some people can be so mean and someone even saying they are horses and not humans, like horses have no feelings. All living things feel, that’s my belief.
I love CoZ, he was not paying any mind to all the negative talks as he was too busy trying to perfect his dance moves as his mom will not out dance him.
Thank you again for standing with the first prince through thick and thin, Have a good nights rest and a great weekend. It is always well at Z Nation,.
You know, I almost wrote a piece on THE VAULT after Coz’s last race about the “One Size Fits All”(OSFA) concept of development that plagues education as well as our sport, albeit for different reasons.
In education, it takes the form of expecting every child will learn in the same way and develop in the same way. Hence the approach of teaching (and testing) every child the same way. And the thing is, it’s nonsense –never worked, never will work — but it just hangs on no matter how obviously silly it is. Parents end up thinking about their children in terms of where they stack up against the best ones in a class and — greatest tragedy of all — children end up seeing themselves this way too.
The concept comes down to us from the image of the machine — the most powerful metaphor of our industrialized society. But people aren’t machines and neither are horses. Whether child, youth, colt, filly or mare, each are absolutely unique and will develop differently. Today we have no patience for this kind of thinking, sadly.
But great teachers and great trainers apply strategies aimed at an individual’s developmental process to those they teach/train — usually with brilliant results.
I just hope that Shirreffs & the Mosses can align to keep Coz on track, helping him to become the best he can be in the time he needs to do that, regardless of what the voices in the social media have to say about his first two races. I have to believe that John knows Coz best of all and will continue to train him according to his needs & abilities.
Zenyatta made it look SO easy, didn’t she? But, of course, it isn’t; it was Zenyatta’s greatness that made it seem a walk in the park. Like American Pharoah or Secretariat or Man O’ War or Nijinsky.
I welcome the opportunity to learn from watching Coz develop and grow, which he will. It’s such a rare insight we’ve all been given by Team Z into the “life of a thoroughbred.” May we continue to have the wisdom to appreciate what Team Z is showing us! The lives of horses would be so much better (as would the lives of our children & youth) if we could just defend their right to have a space to grow.
Love to all & kisses to my Big Girl and her beautiful boys.
Love you forever, Princess.
Wonderful words, Abigail. Thank you for sharing this and putting these thoughts (which parallel my own) into a coherent message. In my opinion, this would be an excellent post for your blog and I will look forward to reading it if you should decide to expand. Thanks!
Dear Abigail .Well said!We are all unique individuals and should be treated as such.Coz and Zi are not their mother who was a one-off!They must be allowed to develop at their own pace.As long as they lead happy, healthy lives I will be pleased.I know they were bred to be racehorses but sadly we can’t all be champions human or animal.Sheena.
Dear Zenyatta, my horse of my lifetime; Coz and Zi mean the world to me as your off spring. They are so valuable just to have been born!. I do want to see them grow and become you in racing but along the way if they can not, I will love them just as much for who each one is. Dear Coz, Everyone, We have to remember Tasty’s Boy tomorrow Race 2, 145pm Delaware Park. So very much keeping him in my prayers. Always keep them all in my prayers, but just always want to remember him. So sorry still Tasty didn’t accept him. Guess I will never understand why some mares just reject their young. Sure hope he had a good surrogate mom.
Geez guess I will have to get the race on my phone. Don’t know if TVG or anyone will post it. But, so glad I can get it that way.
Go Go Go, I’myoursugardaddy. Come back to the barn safely.
Prayers for his safety along with Margano, Barbaro’s little brother at Delaware tomorrow. We have to keep an eye on Tasty’s boy and hope who ever is his trainer and owner know we are watching.
I hear you but don’t worry he’ll be fine. He’s a fighter and a survivor and he’ll even win the race to prove it. May the racing gods be with our boy. Have a good nights rest. It is always well at Z Nation,
So Sorry, That’s “Foster Mom” don’t know why I said surrogate mom. I must be tired. Lo
Sure hope he got a good Foster mom. I know there’s a name for them.
Am sure his other mom loved him just fine and he is a tough boy for that whole experience. He did not fold up and die, his racing now and would be a great champion one day too and make his mama proud. Don’t worry he will be fine tomorrow and would win the race for added measure. Offering up prayers for him, not just for tomorrow but everyday from here on out.

Your post is excellent about teaching and learning whether human or horse. Bravo! He (Coz) will come around when he is ready and if he isn’t so what. Some of the fastest and brightest do not want to run for whatever reason. He contains a gene pool that is excellent and if racing isn’t his thing, then breeding might be where he excels. We all just have to be patient and see what develops over time. I wonder if the negative posters had parents who treated them poorly and negatively? I wonder how well they perform in life?

Like a tongue on a sore tooth, night magnifies. The light of day dissolves worry, but night enlarges fear. Loneliness is greater at night and stress swells like yeast in bread.
Warm, reassuring, comforting light can be present night or day. As dense shade in deep woods can cause the owl to call out its nighttime song, so the dark makes us feel vulnerable. But one bright beam of sunlight can pierce the forest and hush the owl-so one bright beam in our spirits can dissolve darkness. We are not alone-and nothing is impossible.
The earth and myself are of one mind.

Dear Kathy.Great devotional. The night is often lonely but nothing is impossible if we believe.Lovely weather again at Wimbledon and Newmarket.Someone commented it was because Cliff Richard wasn’t in attendance this year!!!Gabine has made a good start breaking Serena’s serve.wittle Katy is walking!!!She is improving bless her and Fubu is maintaining his weight,Doc is pleased with him.Blood test results Monday!Hope you have a great Saturday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly Nikko and sugar.Sheena.
I can’t wait until Ziconic is ready to race. He might be an earlier developer, because of his sire. I could hardly believe those pictures of his dancing, just like his mom; they were the exact moves. Maybe he has even more traits of his mom, and he has a great sire. He has always had a presence about him, and muscles, even when young. I loved the video of him running with mom, and staying right with her, at only 3 weeks old. Does anyone know if Mario is his groom? Does anyone know how John feels like his training is going?
Muhaarar wins the July Cup at Newmarket was desperately close at the end.I felt so sad for Tropics. Also congratulations to Serena Williams for winning her 6th Wimbledon title beating Garbine Muguruza 6-4 6-4.The crowd fell in love with the Spaniard!Sheena.
Great Race, OMG, I’myoursugardaddy almost won. He came in 2nd. He was ahead for a good while. thought he was going to win. IYSD wow he is gorgeous. Tasty should be very proud. Is Papa Candy Ride. I forgot. Great Great Race.
So proud of our boy. Seems like they all came out good. Thank You Dear Lord.
It was a claiming race I think. Oh gosh. Have to check that out and see if any were claimed.
Love Ya I’myoursugardaddy.
Thank you Peggy for the the update about Sugar. Glad he had a clean race.
Keep us posted about any claiming. He is with trainer #3 now?
Really wish I could make him a Carolina Boy and let him dance down here.
Luv ya.
Meant to tell you, my cable box was fried the other night during a huge thunder/lightening storm, Big D style and was looking forward to racing on TV.
Big thanks!
Thank you. I worry so much about the ones in the claiming ranks as they can go from owner to owner. It is hard to keep track of them. Still say that no matter who he is with, they need to know that a bunch of Zsters are watching.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Amen, Shirlee!
We must all make sure he stays safe.
Hugs
Watched IYSD going to the post. He seemed to have some prancing moves. Wonder where he got that from. Zenyatta did you tell Tasty to pass that to her youngsters.
Maragh, Ortiz Jr Out With Injuries After Spills at Belmont Park Friday
San Diego Horse Race July 11, 2015
Two of New York’s top jockeys were injured Friday and will miss time, one for an undetermined amount of time. Rajiv Maragh is still in the hospital while Irad Ortiz Jr will sit out the next week.
Rajiv Maragh remains in the hospital after he suffered broken vertebrae in a spill at Belmont Park. Maragh reportedly broke the t5 and t6 vertebrae and suffered fractures in the t4 through t7 vertebrae in his back. The popular jockey also broke a rib and punctured his lung. The good news is he was moving his arms and legs.
Maragh was riding Yourcreditisgood when they went down at the half mile pole after clipping heels with another horse. The filly got up at was eventually corraled by an outrider. Maragh was transported to North Shore Hospital, conscious, but complaining of neck and back pain. He underwent several CT and cat scans and but doctors have determined no surgery will be necessary and Maragh expected to be walking some time Saturday. http://sdhorserace.com/2015/07/11/maragh-ortiz-jr-out-with-injuries-after-spills-at-belmont-park-friday
@RajivMaragh tweets
I have broken t5 and t6 vertibrae plus 4 more fracture from t4 to t7.

BGG,
Thanks again. Happy he is okay. He looks like such a young boy. These guys are all very brave and are the best athletes in the world. Only sport where an ambulance follows along behind them.

July 11 Cherokee Devotional
Like a tongue on a sore tooth, night magnifies. The light of day dissolves worry, but night enlarges fear. Loneliness is greater at night and stress swells like yeast in bread.
Warm, reassuring, comforting light can be present night or day. As dense shade in deep woods can cause the owl to call out its nighttime song, so the dark makes us feel vulnerable. But one bright beam of sunlight can pierce the forest and hush the owl-so one bright beam in our spirits can dissolve darkness. We are not alone-and nothing is impossible.
The earth and myself are of one mind.

Dear Sheena,
Good news about Fubu, Too! :-)

Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Yes, there have been pictures of Mario with Ziconic :-)

Meant to tell you, my cable box was fried the other night during a huge thunder/lightening storm, Big D style and was looking forward to racing on TV.
Big thanks!

No horses were claimed from this race.

Thank you, sweet friend.
