m anxiously awaiting news of Chromie–I LOVE that boy!!! Such a truly great horse and such a fun one. I so loved getting to meet him a couple of days after last year’s BC—he is such a ham and loves to show off for people!! He is truly one of my favorite horses of all time and I hope that what ever he does and wherever he goes, he is HAPPY!!! He surely deserves that!!
Got quite a scare when we went down to ride on Sunday morning—-Barnaby was covered with the worst case of hives I have ever seen!!! Petting him was like running your hand of a concrete and aggregate sidewalk or patio!! He was miserable–his chest was trembling and he had a fever. We called the vet right away and he had us sponge him off with cold water until he could get there. So-for about an hour and a half we took turns sponging him off and changing the water. By the time the vet got there his temp was down to normal and he was in less distress. The vet gave him a steriod shot and left pills for this week. By Monday morning, the bumps were all gone and he was acting as though it had never happened!! I was SO scared on Sunday morning. I was really afraid he might die before the vet got there. He feels it was a hatch of some new bug out where they are, in East Fork, that he had a violent allergic reaction to their venom. Hopefully, after all of the meds, he will stay OK. It was so frightening,I can’t really explain it–just love him SO much and can’t stand to see him suffering. He was a really good patient though and liked being comforted while everything was being done for him.
Love to sweet Zenny–did you get to see your Cozzie racing on TV??–and to precious Coz and Zi!! May you feel the love and kisses being sent to you by so many, on the wind!! Sweet horsey dreams!!!
Dear Sue N.,
How awful for you and Barnaby! Poor boy must have been miserable. Thank goodness the vet could get there and the steroid shot worked. I am so glad that he recovered so quickly, and I hope he has no further contact with those nasty bugs. You feel so utterly helpless and scared when your beloved baby is suffering.
It is always good to hear from you and to find out about what Barnaby and Traveller are doing. Take good care!
Hugs and Love
Glad your beautiful Barnaby is recovering well. There’s a never ending list of problems that can develop so quickly with our beloved horses. Happy this was one that was quickly resolved. Love and Hugs, JB
Sue, I cried while reading about precious Barnaby.
Glad the vet could promptly attend to Barnaby. Yucky hives! Barnaby, the cold water your Mom sponged over you probably felt soooooo good!
Thank goodness for a positive outcome. Eat some watermelon, Barnaby!

Dear Sheena, Just read your post about California Chrome. Yes I so agree CC needs all you mentioned so badly. He needs tender loving care. I’m upset by the way he’s been handled in the last year. So the Coburns sold there share of him. I don’t know of anything really nice to say. So guess I will just be quiet. Something hits my heart wrong here ..But, and a big But. So glad he is going to Kentucky and Taylor Made. So praying he can be gotten back in good health and have a really nice life.
I love you all so much here, Read more than I ever respond.
I was so upset with the Martin owner of Chrome sending him to Ascot, What?
I just hoped he would come back home in one piece – not
I just sat and cried when I saw the condition he was in when he arrived home.
Everything backfired on the owner but I do not care about that or him.
They will sell him whatever they can get for him now I suspect.
Poor overworked little horse. I hope his spirit has not been totally broken.
I wish they had sent him back to Art, the only one besides Chrome that has any class here.
Me too! CC deserved so much better. I always thought he was such a great little horse and Art Sherman loves him and treated him so well. Hope he recuperates and has people with his best interests at heart
Agree Judy and Peggy,
Mr. Sherman was treated very badly. We know that he loves Chrome and just wants what is best for him. I do think he will be well cared for at Taylor Made. My only concern is with the pedigrees and records of so many good stallions in Kentucky that he won’t get top quality mares. Really thought he would stand in California. No disrespect of California Chrome. He is a beautiful wonderful horse.
Just noticed that the whole first part of my post disappeared into the ozone!!!
It was a belated, but sincere, birthday wish for the lovely and gracious Ann Moss. Ann, I think that the year to come will bring you some very exciting adventures and great blessings—just saying. I often savor the memories of meeting you and Jerry at the party after BC 2012, and riding down with you two in the elevator after the party. Treasured memories for sure! I hope you realize how very much you are loved by all here and how grateful we all are for your generosity in sharing your” horsey” family with us We’re so blessed to be able to share in their lives!! THANK YOU!!!
Dear Peggy.I don’t want to get involved with the quarrel between the Coburns/Martins.For me the horse always comes first and I hope now CC has a bright future.Hugs Sheena.
You are so right, CC’s interests have been ignored and the people that love him have been as well. I just hope he can get healthy and have a good life from now on
Dear Sheena,
So very much agree, those owners have made a mess and now they bail and cash
Out, CC and Art do not deserve that, hope he has a great life at Taylor Made.
What a great tug of war video, so glad Brenig finally got the best of his sister, I knew
He finally would. They are so cute, will miss them, wonder who will fledge first ???

Dear Judy.Loved your photo of Coz last night! The ospreys have been playing tug-of-war with their fish!I’ll post the video tomorrow.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
I feel so sad to learn Calif Chrome can not race the rest of this year or depending, perhaps never again. The later rests on the owners. I never wanted CC to travel from the U.S.A. I listened to the Daily Racing Form announcement and I agree with the commentator who said sending CC to Dubai for the World Cup was understandable, but then he should have come home to be with Art Sherman, trainer, as he knew CC the best. CC is such a champ and so beautiful!
Prayers and love to you CC. Sally B
I feel bad for Art Sherman as well as CC. I hope the owners listen to his good advice when it comes to Chromie. He puts CC’s welfare above all else. Love and Hugs, JB
In ages past predictions were made that a time would come like the days of Noah-a time of floods and volcanoes and earthquakes. Evidence of hot spots, upheavals and changes in the earth is everywhere-and it makes us ask if this is the time like Noah’s.
Earth goes on renewing and making every effort to stay whole and clean in spite of the tampering of mankind. But the world is another cup of tea. Can it change itself? It must learn from earth that too much pressure can blow everything. We learn from the river that we can be so broadminded that we spread into the shallows and dry up in the midday sun.
Our decision is to read the signs and know for ourselves. It comes down to a very fine point-a point that is us.
Behold, my brothers…the earth has received the embraces of the sun and we shall soon see the results of that love!

Dear Kathy.Mankind should leave well alone. We will pay a high price for our interference with Nature. The “bobs”should’nt be long before fledging there’s a lot of “helicoptering”going on today. One of the Manton Bay females fledged yesterday!I could see you’ve heard about Mango going to Hollywood! Her conversation with Judy was so touching.Judy has a great faith and understanding how God works in his mysterious ways his wonders to perform.Prayers are not always answered as we would like.
I signed up for Marty’s newsletter so I can hear about his “cute fings”I love how he says PS dis is Marty as if we didn’t know.Zoe is having trouble with FB again. How cruel was that about Donny.Let’s hope he finds a good home.Willow and Lily are so cute everyone is hoping the studios will get a new cat.Someone will turn up one day when Joey is ready. It’s very humid and thundery here this afternoon(as in UK style).I hope the weather will stay dry so that Golden Horn can run next week. Now the lady is back with Country cottage charm after her mum’s passing.Have a great Friday eve.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
The “bob” grew up way too fast. I wanted them to be little longer. That’s pretty great that Mango is going to Hollywood. Can’t wait to hear all the details. Mango’s conversation with Judy was extremely touching. You’re right…lots of insight there! It sure is nice to be able to experience Marty’s abventures from the very beginning. Dear Deb and Marshall:
Thanks; I found the video. That is just the cutest. What a sweet, gentle boy. Lucky girl. I linked the video below; hope it works. Love and Hugs, JB
Deb,
AF really really really deserved the award. Depressed me also when he didn’t win. Who knows how many more years before there is another Triple Crown winner. Guess it just goes to show that racing does not have the fan base of basketball.
It’s that same “Horses are animals not athletes” discrimination that’s been going on forever led by ignorant people like Bob Costas who said Secretariat shouldn’t be listed with humans on lists of the greatest athletes of the 20th Century. Jerk. As for when we’ll have another TC winner, I’m praying that #13 will be Z13 in 2016!
@ Ann in NC, Judy Berube and Marshall–Thanks so much for your concern about my boy!!! It surely DID scare me–I have never even seen a person with hives and then to have it happen to my precious boy–such a strange thing–I don’t think I’d ever heard of a horse getting them!
He got his feet trimmed on Tuesday-our Cool New Shoes Man came and fixed him up–he had a cracked hoof that broke off. Sue rode him yesterday and she said he didn’t seem footsore at all so think he is back to feeling like his old self! WHEW!!!
Can’t wait to see him and ride on Saturday morning. I get so caught up in grooming him and hugging him that sometimes my actual riding time gets cut short–but–what the heck!!I’m just in heaven spending time with him, whatever we are doing!
Funny thing, Hudson developed hives once last year while she and the girls we’re at a horse show in CT. Never did determine what caused them, but they suspected it was from material on a saddle pad that they hadn’t used before. She was fine the next day. Glad your boy is better. Scary. Love and Hugs, JB
Got to meet and spend the day with our Sandy today. We visited Hudson, Deb (Amanda could not take the day off as she just started a new job), Charlie, Angela and Frank. Was wonderful to meet Sweet Sandy. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy.So glad you got to enjoy your day with Sandy and saw the horses plus Frank!!Such sad news tonight from Tennesee where 4 US marines have been killed. My sympathies to their families and friends.RIP.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Dear Sue Noel.So happy to hear Barnaby is much better.Poor boy must have been sooo uncomfortable.I’m sure he loved a visit from CNSM!Sending love and hugs from Wales for you all.Sheena
Skipped through posts so briefly. Judy B. you visited Hudson and Charlie? That is wonderful.
I hope Sue Noel Barnaby will be okay.
I miss so much but I do truly care what goes on here and I pray all is well and better tomorrows for our thoroughbreds and their injuries and sweet prayers for those who passed recently.
Fancy from our Sanctuary had colic but got up on her own three weeks ago. Vet believed it was from such a rich pasture. We limit her time out in the pasture for now. A.M. volunteer lets her out, PM, locks her in. So far so good, except when you lock her in at a pm she has nothing more to do but come to you looking for treats and almost becomes comical with her getting in your way. We have bumped heads numerous times and I have a stiff neck! She is 34 yrs old. As you remember Fancy lost her soul mate Frito a couple months ago. I do give her a lot of attention when I am there. I almost think it is time for her to have all the things she loves like in our old age loving ice cream and eating it whenever we want.
hugs, Sally B
Yes, Sandy came in from Ohio and I took her to visit Hudson and Charlie. We had a wonderful day. Later on, she met Lola Mae.
So glad Fancy is over the colic attack. Love your description of bumping heads while she’s looking to have more treats (not the stiff neck though) and I agree, at her age (as with people) she should have all the treats she wants. She must look forward to all the love and attention you give her too. Love and Hugs, JB
Love has no part of abuse. Claims of great love are really claims of great need when there is abuse. Love doesn’t abuse. It protects and comforts and gives support. Abuse is from possession of evil-the need to hurt and destroy. It is a need for a prey-a smaller prey where domination is secure.
Human need is a net thrown over a thing or a person to keep them close and subdued. If escape seems possible the possessor turns to tears and persuasion as another way of dominating. But love-love is a deep sacred trust that runs through the most common acts, the shared hours, the sweetest and most trusting touch. It is the miracle of life.
Why does the agent seek to take away our religion?

Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional!I am running late as always. It’s much fresher here today after some heavy rain last night.Mum was trying to shelter the “bobs”but it’s nigh impossible now.She caught her 1st post-chick season fish on Wednesday(15th)exactly the same date as last year.I couldn’t make out where Hovis’diary was this week so went on his FB and heard Karen is away. He’ll have plenty to say about it next week I’m sure.Sophie is going to be Mango’s security guard in Hollywood. She and Judy have a lot of work to do this weekend to prepare. The male (S2)fledged yesterday on Manton Bay only 1 to go now.Maya was trying to guide him back to the nest after about 15mins.I will always remember Cerist’s 1st flight on the Dyfi in 2013.She came back after 2 and 1/2 days!Such sad news from Tennesee last night it was breaking over here as I was getting ready for bed.We have had our fair share of “domestic terrorism”in the UK.
It was also sad to hear about the K9 officer Titus who died of heart failure.Sadly they are not refered to as officers in the UK.Loved Zoe’s pic of the Eagle.Fubu’s not eating again Kimberley is struggling to get his meds down. Will visit the doc today I think.Bless him he has suffered a long time.Voted for him just now he’s doing quite well.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.
I’m out and about today. Busy, busy! Good to hear from you. Missing Hovis. Glad things are going well at the Dyfi. Exciting trip coming up for Mango! Yes, very sad news from TN. May Titus rest in peace. Loved the eagle pic on Zoe’s page. Always worried about Fubu. Have a great day and enjoy your weekend ahead. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Well, I wasn’t surprised LeBron won after all AP only had to carry Victor on his back while LeBron had to carry his whole team. The amazing story of CC certainly took a sad turn. I really don’t care about the ownership. I still love CC and hope he is happy and well treated where he lands. He is so beautiful and deserved so much more than he received. I’ll always remember his win in the Derby.

Dear Sue:
Funny thing, Hudson developed hives once last year while she and the girls we’re at a horse show in CT. Never did determine what caused them, but they suspected it was from material on a saddle pad that they hadn’t used before. She was fine the next day. Glad your boy is better. Scary. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sally:
Yes, Sandy came in from Ohio and I took her to visit Hudson and Charlie. We had a wonderful day. Later on, she met Lola Mae.
So glad Fancy is over the colic attack. Love your description of bumping heads while she’s looking to have more treats (not the stiff neck though) and I agree, at her age (as with people) she should have all the treats she wants. She must look forward to all the love and attention you give her too. Love and Hugs, JB

July 17 Cherokee Devotional

Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I’m out and about today. Kathy XOXO

Not only did Lebron carry his whole team on his back but he carried the whole greater Cleveland metropolitan area as well.
