    I am thankful for all the people on this blog who are praying for Amy. She is a 9-1/2 yr. old (we think) German Shepherd/Beagle mix who I adopted in May 2010. She is a medium-sized dog who weighs approx. 50 lbs & looks mostly shepherd. I named her after a young friend of mine who passed away in her early 20’s from heart problems she had since she was born. The human Amy worked with a dog rescue & this was my way of honoring her. I vey rarely use the word “awesome” because I feel it is overused, but Amy is an Awesome dog!

    I also have a 3-1/2 yr. old Pit Bull/Lab mix who I named Cappy. He came to NY from GA with 2 broken hips & broken right hind leg after being hit by a vehicle. He is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever known & his favorite thing to do is cuddle.

    Kathy, as usual, I loved your Cherokee devotional today and am thankful that you post them for us.

    I voted for Wise Dan because he is amazing and also because his trainer & owner show us that it is possible to race horses past their 2 & 3 yr. old years by training them & caring for them with the horse’s welfare in mind, just John & the Mosses did with Zenyatta & will do with Z’s children.

    November 28 Cherokee Devotional

    Time and again, we have seen help come from the most unlikely places. But our minds are set on certain things, certain ways that something can be done. Healing must come from a pill or a shot, love must come whether or not we are lovable, joy must come from something that happens-not from within us. We refuse the best help because we do not see it in a familiar light. If it is not the right color, the right shape, the right sound-can it be ours? Can it possibly help? It is possible to relearn the natural ways of doing things when we open our eyes and our hearts to the inner-knowing, the wisdom and peace of the Great Spirit. There is more to living than our eyes can see, more than our minds can perceive-but it is right here now, waiting to make the difference.

    There are the springs of the Great Spirit…To bathe in them gives new life; to drink them cures every bodily ill.

    dear Kathy.Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!We get Black Friday sales now.Police had to be called in some Manchester stores!You’d make a good agent for Hovis if he ever gets to Hollywood!He’s still not in his mum’s good books though.What do you think of Marty’s minions on Amazon?such a great idea to keep his memory alive.He had the most wonderful mum and dad!Abby did enjoy Butterball after all and Mango put in the most beautiful Thanksgiving message.I hope you didn’t get to eat one of Butterball’s relations.

      Thanksgiving was very nice, but exhausting. I’m sure that Hovis will eventually be even more famous than he is now. He certainly deserves it! Love the Marty’s Minions idea. He was very special. I know he was dearly loved. So glad Abby enjoyed Butterball. You’re right, Mango’s Thanksgiving message was beautiful. The turkey I ate did say Butterball on the package, but with any luck our bird wasn’t an actual relative of Abby’s Butterball. Let’s see…they live in NM and I’m in CA, so maybe not…Sounds like Zoe had a marvelous holiday. You know she spread lots of joy on her visit.     @Sandy– am so glad you survived the double whammy of Thanksgiving and your birthday. So glad you had so many well wishers. I wish I could find you a dependable snow shoveler! I’ll be glad to be your realtor contact for a place to live down here……….
    Also, thank you for the Thanksgiving hymn link. Our current church has gone so ‘modern’ that I found myself singing these old ones out loud all week around the house.

    @Trina–We are all in awe of your powers of putting so much into compact poetic phrases. I couldn’t do it in a million years. We love you.

    @Donna Z–I did not know about Amy, but I will be glad to pray. Our Daisy (German Shepherd) is 8 1/2, so it will be easy for me to remember. Like you, I voted for Wise Dan too. I adore Chromie, but WD has overcome so much that I thought he deserved it.

    November 29 Cherokee Devotional

    Some of us build bridges and go in search of rivers to fit them. Those who stew and fret about every little thing are building bridges. How many bridges do we build that we never have to cross? How often do we refuse to see the bright side because we don’t want to give up our view of what could happen? How many expect to feel depressed and lonely and done-in? It may seem at times that we are frozen in space and nothing can change, nothing can go right-but that is only an opinion supported by negative ideas that have already attracted the wrong experiences. Build a new bridge-back over the troubled water, and cross it confidently. Don’t run back and forth, but tear it down and refuse to build any others.

    His brave warriors will be with us, a bristling wall of strength.

    Dear Kathy.Such wise words from the Native Americans.Beautiful day at Newbury for the Hennessy was great to see Willie Robinson there jockey of the legendary Mill House in the 60’s.I was glad to see Miss Kitty Face is eating her shots upset her and she was very sleepy.Poor mum had toothache and a headache!!Boo and Buddy had a great Thanksgiving and are in a coma!Mango’s t-shirts are up for sale and coco’s new brudda rang her!It’s quiet on Joey over the holidays.Zoe’s got her beautiful tree up Diane’s got good system!!!It’s lovely to see Marty’s messages Amazon was sooo busy yesterday I bought a couple of items hope it helps the ratties.Have a great Saturday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.

      Glad you enjoyed the Hennessy and got to see Willie Robinson. Good to know My Miss Kitty Face is eating. Hope mom feels better! Loved the pic of Boo and Buddy in a coma from Thanksgiving. A lot of us felt just like that! I hope Mango sells a lot of t-shirts. Coco’s brudda sounds very excited! Zoe was anxious to pick the perfect spot for her Gators ornament. Diane seems extremely well-organized. I agree, seeing Marty’s messages kind of takes away some of the pain of losing him. Good for you buying some merchandise to help rescue rats.     It started to snow last night,Tully was out making snow angels before bed,legs flying in the air. Had a nice walk with Ash yesterday and tucked him in a cosy blanket before I left.

    Donna,am keeping Amy in my prayers.I was touched by your post about Amy and Cappy,you have made a wonderful home for them.

        They are so well behaved. I cannot see TBs like the Moose getting along like that before or after a big race. Those horses are just remarkable. They do not use gates to start the race because the horses are too big for them. Most of those guys are 18 hands and over.

      They are superb horses. They are huge but they have that same intelligence and temperament as Zenyatta. I liked it that, after the race, they all went to the winners’ circle. Seems that they are all owned by the same guy. They probably know each other.
      Thanksgiving is still on. Christmas decorations are on the horizon however.

      Heard that they hope for a win from TT for Dessie Hughes. He had a lot of faith in the Tank. How did this happen to Annie? Is it very serious? She will probably be staying put in Ireland for a while. There goes the possible romance with the Moose unless he hoofs it to Ireland. Can you see Mullins letting the Moosester anywhere near Annie?
