Happy Friday!
We loved hearing from so many of you following Ziconic’s debut. Trainer John Shirreffs reports that Ziconic looks great following his first race. His coat is shiny, his muscle tone is excellent, and has fully recovered from the race. John is pleased with his Febrauary 20 performance, saying “It gives us something to build upon.” Dottie added, “We love having Z’s colts with us, and getting to see both of them each day is a complete joy and thrill.”
Fun fact: Ziconic wore a special brow band in his debut, matching the one worn by his mom in the 2009 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar.
Scroll down for more photos from Ziconic’s debut and watch the race again here.
Don’t forget that Coz’s birthday is next week! Come back to the blog on Tuesday to leave him birthday wishes.
Enjoy!

Love the pictures of Ziconic. He has such a gorgeous face. But, even if he looked like a troll I would love him just as much.

Good afternoon Zsters?
Today’s devo:
“I will extol the LORD at all times;
His praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together.
I sought the LORD, and He answered me;
He delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to Him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.”
{Psalm 34:1-5, NIV}
Radiant Faces . . .
I see the way her shoulders slump, the way her countenance betrays the pain she’s so desperate to conceal. I see the way she’s feeling her way through the darkness of her everyday, wondering if it’s worth the always-draining effort it takes to put one foot in front of the other.
I see the way she struggles to breathe under the suffocating fear that hope is a mirage.
Yet, I also see her kneeling in prayer — a woman weighted with pain — but satiated in His presence. I see the way she seeks her Savior, daring to trust in the One who holds the unforeseen. And I see the way He enfolds her in His embrace, loving her past her flaws.
Her face reflects His light.
The pain may still be there. But He is there too.
Because He answers when we call. The Creator of beauty and goodness and truth chooses us — even when we’re struggling to choose Him.

SPECIAL FIGHTER (IRE) – FERNANDO JARA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNavHuRpnZo
Well away and soon out in front under Fernando Jara, Special Fighter was able to get into his rhythm and, never under pressure for the lead, dictated proceedings.
The pair soon shot clear of Hong Kong challenger, Gun Pit and the Doug Watson-trained Faulkner and, with US contender Keen Ice labouring in the mid division, it was soon apparent that Special Fighter had the race sewn up in a new course record time of 2:03.01.

So glad to know that our boy came out of the race well – can’t wait to see what’s next!! He is just soooooo beautiful, and what fun to know that his brow band was just like Mom’s! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures – just no words for how much we appreciate these great treats ❤️

Songbird is amazing. She makes it look so easy!
The race before hers, though, the 4th, was wonderful. It culminated with three fillies roaring down the stretch side by side, with barely a whisker between them. It was impossible to see who’d won!

March 6 Cherokee Devotional
Wide prairies and grassy hills are showing a sheen of green in protected places. Then snow begins to spit and grains of sleet show up on the walk. This is spring trying to begin. Time changes with us when we blow hot and cold. We are not precise, we play it by our emotions, and we know how the emotions can waver like a flag in the wind. We prosper greatly when we stop and give thanks any number of times a day. Without gratitude we have difficulty bringing anything new and better into our lives.
Soon the sun will shine more, the flowers will bloom, baby squirrels will play around the nest and our hearts will lift and sing. Such little things deserve to be appreciated because they feed our souls. Spring is on its way and the cold cloudy days will give way to mellow breezes and colors we could not have imagines. The earth and we are of one mind-pause and be renewed.
The earth and myself are of one mind.

Ziconic makes me smile…he is a gorgeous horse who has the kind eye of high mom.
Lois in Tulsa
Ziconic is getting more breathtakingly handsome every time I see a new picture of him!! I was so proud of his efforts in his first race, and I thought Gary was the perfect jockey for him. I hope that all of Zenny’s kids will have either Gary or Mike on their backs!!!
Well, I don’t know about anyone else, but I have already started pacing for Zenny and her new baby. I can hardly wait to see Z16! I pray for a healthy foal, and an easy and safe delivery!!
I am so thankful that the Moss’ are still so generous in sharing Zenny’s life with all of us who love her, and her offspring so very much!!!!!
Kathy
Dear Sheena,

I knew he was going to be something special! I love this beautiful boy!! You made everyone proud, and the best part, you loved doing it!!! You even looked at the grandstand as you went by, just like mom!!!!

I commented pre race, as we were watching the TV and wondering if I would see any of the SoCal Dumplings, that his head band and leg wraps were the same as his Mom’s and how good he looked. Happy to know that he came out of the race well after an amazing effort.
Early days yet but I’m hoping to see Songbird at the BC. Vic and I think that like Zenny she could beat the boys.

Bonjour Zenyatta,
Wow!
Ziconic pulled a “Zenyatta” in his debut. I watched the race several times as it made me happy.
Love the special brow band, too. So sweet!
I am eager to watch his next race as well as Cozmic One.
Can’t wait to learn about your new baby. Hope it is a girl.
Lots of love to you, Zenyatta, Cosmic One, and Ziconic. I haven’t forgotten
about Princess Z. So sad that she is gone.
