Happy Monday!
Zenyatta is expecting her fourth foal at the end of March, her second by War Front. We’re excited about the new arrival, and it won’t be long until we head to Kentucky for foal watch.
In the meantime we receive frequent updates from Lane’s End. Zenyatta is in perfect health and great spirits. Alys Emson caught her resting in her paddock last week–she didn’t feel like getting up but she wanted treats anyway!
Follow @teamzenyatta on Instagram for the most frequent photo updates.
Enjoy,
Team Z

When life hurts, use your good imagination. See yourself free of pain, physical or emotional. See yourself having a stone lifted off so that you can go free. Then be grateful that you have weapons against whatever it is that hurts you. Your words are your weapons-not words that cut and hurt but words that lift you up and set you free. Say to yourself: no weapon formed against me shall prosper.
Call for new and better circumstances to come in and replace the hard ones you have been dealing with. Words are creative. Don’t insist on seeing how they accomplish what they do. Just know they are creative-we cannot use them in wrong ways and expect to get good results. Be kind to yourself. Not indulgent, but simply kind. Coax yourself into peacefulness and pat yourself on the head for no other reason than to stir up your courage. You are worth it-and more, much more.
He pauses in an attitude of worship.

Dear Zenny and Zenyatta Family,
First, Zenny, you are surely the best portrait of motherhood I’ve seen! Such a smile you always have (which really cheered me up this morning).
I have missed you and everyone so much! We went to Texas to be with my husband’s brother (who was very ill for a long time) and we all (his family) got to be together with him at the end of his life. But we know he is in Heaven now, and probably feeling sorry for all of us that we’re not ‘there’ yet.
Love to you Zenny, to your two colts and babe on the way and to your human family here on your website and your Team Z.
Elizabeth
PS Thank you so much Team Z for these photos! Just what I needed to see to lift my spirits. I feel like Zenny is getting ready to give us all a big kiss in pic 2 with that great smile! What a GIRL!

Songbird Flies Into Santa Ysabel
Reinier Macatangay Lady and the Track March 3, 2016
Songbird Flies Into Santa Ysabel: Still on course for the Kentucky Oaks (GI) in May, Fox Hill Farm’s Songbird drilled in 48 seconds flat on Sunday under regular rider Mike Smith in preparation for the Santa Ysabel Stakes (GIII) on Saturday at Santa Anita Park. While anticipation remains high, debate continues on whether this is the right path for such a special filly, or whether she should start facing colts.
The connections remain adamant in their belief Songbird will stay in filly races for now.

Lol, carrying a 100 pound foal around all day, I wouldn’t want to get up either, Zenny. xD
She looks amazing as always.

How can one look at her face and not know that there is an intelligent being there. Here is one sheena will appreciate. Beer is served in English pubs in pints and quarts. This is where the expression mind your p’s and q’s comes from. I have a minister joke that I heard for the first time about 50 years ago. I will post it tomorrow as soon as I remember the “nice” version. I do not want to offend anybody.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
Agree completely. Z’s face is beautiful and you can see the intelligence in her eyes.
Thanks for the info on p’s and q’s. Looking forward to the minister joke. Love and Hugs, JB

Judy,
Since he did not do well in the Donn, think this might be a test to see if he should go in the big race. Be nice for Dale to have another “big” horse.

O-o-o-oh–these DARLING photos ! You can A_L_L_L most reach out and feel that velvet nose!!! Horses have to trust you SO much to let you walk up on them like that, when they are down. Mostly, they will pop right up as you approach. (Of course, Zenny KNOWS that NO ONE would ever approach her with anything but loving intentions !!
I was so honored, years ago, when my TB jumper stayed down long enough for me to keep petting him, while my friend went to her car, found her camera, came back, focused, and got a great pic of us together.! I still just love that picture. I think some of the Dumplings have seen it ,when I shared some photos at the BC.
@ Sheena–Loved your remembering Seabiscuit’s SA Handicap anniversary. I think I have mentioned here before that my dad took me to see him when I was a little girl, when he was retired up at the farm. I can still remember driving in and my dad being so proud at being able to show him to me. He surely did some wonderful things for a little girl who loved horse racing and race horses at a VERY early age. Getting to kiss War Admiral, love on Jet Pilot, see Citation and Coaltown, and all of the others we got to visit ,on only trip to KY,, was heady stuff for me–I can tell you !
Have you been following Victoria Pendleton’s adventures ? Hadn’t heard anything about that until the post today. Quite a fabulous story !
@ Charlotte Sveen- Was very interested to find that you live in Monrovia—as I graduated from there in 1956 !! Was a cheerleader there–what a great and beautiful school !! Go Go You Wildcats !! Love the “Big M” up on the hill !!
Boss Mare Sue’s father passed away night before last. He had been at a nursing home down in Twin Falls for the past several years. She and her older brother have taken very special care of him for the time–he had lost his wife when they were still in California. He was in his early 90’s and his health had been failing for some time, but she is feeling the loss keenly. She was able to stop and visit the horses on her way home yesterday and I know that comforted her a lot.
May all Zsters have a lovely night—and weekend–looking forward to Hovis tomorrow, not mention Terry’s joke !!
Zenny–kisses on the wind to you and your blessed boys !!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Sue Noel.Oh,Victoria is big news over here right now.Although I admire her courage I believe the horses are always the stars. She doesn’t have the experience to ride in a foxhunters yet.Opinions are very divided in the UK.Hugs Sheena.

According to what I’ve read the normal gestation period is 330-345 days. So, if she was bred on April 21, 2015, we are possibly looking at March 16 – 31. Pacing, pacing, pacing…..

Donna,
Perhaps she is going to have an Easter baby.

Dear Sheena,
I’m so glad Hovis loves Aunty Emily. Sounds like a great relationship! Don’t feel too bad that mini-mother will learn to ride on a pony. She’s so petite, she just has to grow into riding you, big, beautiful Hovis. Safe racing to all horses and jockeys this weekend. TGIF everyone.

A time like this one has never before existed. There is swift progress in some areas and feet dragging in others. We wait to see if those things we know are not acceptable will suddenly be right. This never happens. If it is wrong, it is wrong and we know it. The years come and go and lines are drawn, but to what avail? The decision is ours and always has been.
Deep in our spirits we know when some situation leads us down the wrong path. We close our eyes and claim that God is a good God and will not let us go down the drain. But if we insist, he will let us do whatever we choose. If we are ever to overcome, this is the time to change. No greater peace or freedom exists than to get our ducks in a row and to know where we are going and why.
If I thought you were sent by the Creator I might be induced to think you had a right to dispose of me.

Dear Kathy.I love the “ducks in a row”!There has been heavy snow in the north nothing here in the sw of Wales so far!But it’s been snowing in Devon.I try to visit some of my FB friends and Rachel (Speedy’s mum lives there)I heard Jerry and Rupert Murdoch have got married this morning.A whirlwind romance well he is getting on a bit!!There is going to be a blessing at St Bride’s church in Fleet Street. She admires his intellect….And Kylie is engaged too she’s 47 he’s 28 need I say more?
Boo and the blonde mafia are back and there is big news.A lot think the human has had or is having a mini-human,Very exciting.Judy and Nay are going away for the weekend in the Camper.Mango is not so well so can’t go they are taking Mattie for Mango to have a rest. She has crystals in her bladder although she eats prescription food.Hope she gets better soon.Poor Hovis deserted for a PONY!!he “seems” to be getting along well with Aunty Emily except for the stressage of course.Balthazar King is due back at the XC in the festival.A lot think he should have been retired but he is raring to go.Stay safe and sound BK there won’t be a dry eye if you win!Captain Chris is looking forward to his career in hunting.A “proper” retirement for an ex-chaser.Have a great Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
