Judy,
Great photo of Pharoah. I voted for him and hope he wins. He should after what he has done both on the track and what he has done for racing. Don’t think we will see his like again for many many years.
I don’t argue with Pharoah winning just take issue with something said in the article. As someone living in Indianapolis, I must praise Payton Manning for his giving of himself and his financial resources here in the city and in the state. He does as much off the field as he does on.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Pharoah’s got my vote for sure.
My nephew is a former college baseball star and an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan; has been since childhood. He loves football and has told me that he respects Payton Manning as a player and a person. Have read that PM is very active in helping the community and the State. Good man. Love and Hugs, JB

@ Terry Crow–Was so thrilled to read that you had gone to see Chromie work out ! Isn’t he just magnificent. I was over the moon at meeting him after the BC last year–and he is so personable–and a real ham! Was sad to hear that he has a new exercise rider though, I just LOVED Willie. He was such a great guy and so kind to us. He spent a lot of time with us and gave us posters and stickers. When I showed him photos of Barnaby, HE even thought that Barnaby looked like Chrome. Of course, That REALLY pleased me, as I love Chromie. Hope he has a FABULOUS season next year. Will have heart failure if he meets Zi in the BC. Will have to hope for a dead heat!! TWO Derby winners , head to head !!
We got Barnaby and Traveller moved two weeks ago, down to their winter home at River Sage tables. Katie, the wonderful woman who manages the farm, moved horses around so that they could be back in their same paddock, for the third year. When Barnaby got off of the trailer and walked into the paddock, you could just see him look around and say to himself, “I’m home, it’s OK, and, there’s my friend Jude ( a grandson of Seattle Slew) right next door.” There’s a lot going on down there every day for them to look at, and lots of eyes on them. They are VERY lucky to be there–as I’ve said before, you couldn’t have a finer place to keep a horse.
Have had some really good rides on him in the big indoor arena already, trotting over poles and all, getting him ready to try some teeny jumps. He seems to like having a new job and he’s hopped over some really low poles we set up out at East Fork–so–we’ll see how it goes.
Have so loved the photos of Zenny–she looks wonderful and very happy. I am going to order the GORGEOUS black and white photo from Princees Z’s memorial page. I keep going back to that whole collection of photos and videos–it was incredibly generous of the Mosses to share that with us.
This is a blessed place to come to with all the terrible things going on in the world. Was astounded to learn of the story Sheena shared with us about the 11 members of one family, killed in the restaurant–had not heard of that in news here.
My love to all Zsters, the whole Z Team, and, most of all, to Zenny, herself, those incredible boys, the baby to come, and beloved Z Princess, never to be forgotten.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sue Noel,
So glad to see a post from you, as always! Happy to hear that Barnaby and Traveller have arrived at their winter quarters. It’s great that they get to be in their usual paddock, too. How exciting that you and Barnaby are working towards jumps — you rock!
You are so right about this being a blessed place to come. It certainly does offer respite from “man’s inhumanity to man” (and other species). Zenny and all her family provide this much needed haven for us, and we are all so thankful.
Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving! Hugs and Love

Dear Elizabeth:
Yes, me too.
Would love to see some of the photos you’ve taken of the wild ones if it’s possible to post them here. I think they are a National Treasure and so few left roaming free. Love and Hugs, JB
Elizabeth in NM
Dear Judy,
They are ‘Treasures’ for sure. I do wish they could be proclaimed a ‘National Treasure’ – a wonderful idea! I will start asking about how we might get that started. We used to see so many all over the west, and now we see so few – including almost all of them we used to see within an hour of our home. There have been lots of ‘shenanigans’ in this arena. I’ll see about posting some photos of some of the ones we’ve photographed within the next few weeks. We’re going up to the wildlife refuge to photograph the cranes this tomorrow.
I don’t know if I’ve told this before, but just in case I haven’t,- we were crossing into Wyoming on a trip to Montana, deep in ‘nowhere country’ (our favorite type of country). All of a sudden a huge herd of wild horses came thundering up to the road and just stopped and looked at us. I’m sure I heard ‘Hello’ from them all. We got out of the car and must have photographed them for an hour (not sure how long). Eventually, they turned and wandered back into the vast open wilderness of prairie grass and low sloping hill country. One of the most wonderful memories of our lives! Hope you have a wonderful day. with love, Elizabeth

Dear Z Fans:
Have to make a correction to my post above. La Appassionata’s Dam is Moonlight Sonata (Carson City) not Midnight Sonata. Sorry about that. Love and Hugs, JB

Never be so bent to certain beliefs that it is impossible to see the little things that make life so much sweeter. Sure, you’re going to have to deal with things-that’s life. But if you don’t get down in it and lose your overall perspective, you’ll make short order of the work.
When you love other people you listen to their problems and offer them help, but you don’t take their responsibility. You just help. Mothers and grandmothers have always had the tendency to take the whole burden, but you shouldn’t. Children have to learn there is help-but some of it comes from them.
Now many things have happened that are not your fault.

Dear Kathy. We can never take the blame for everything that happens in our lives. We had a discussion on the radio today about British muslims and why a lot don’t criticise the attacks. We cannot apologise for fanatics why should they? It’s the same as apologising for our history that was then and this is now!End of!

Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Agreed. We’ can’t take the blame for fanatics. That’s just ludicrous. Can’t wait to find out where Boo and Buddy are traveling. Loved the pic of the ratties as Art Inspectors. I agree, it’s hard to accept that Joey is gone when looking at Theba’s beautiful photographs of him. Felt really bad about Zoe’s friend. I’ve never lost a pet in surgery. So tough…I was worried about Kimberly putting up outdoor lights. Looks like there would be a neighbor who would help her with that. Fingers crossed that Fubu’s blood test results are good. Best wishes to Trip To Paris and also Coneygree. Glad you were safe during the storm. Yes, the Pom Pals have a beautiful back yard! Dexter is a big boy, but I love how he gets along so beautiful with his smaller siblings. Happy Hump Day to you, too., Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

hi Zsters :)
todays devo:
The Lord let some simple, yet deep truths settle in to my heart.
It’s not about the size of the ask, it’s about the heart behind it.
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” {John 13:35}
Some of the ways that my friends have loved me may seem large, and maybe they were, but it doesn’t always have to be some grand gesture. The prayer a friend offers will touch my heart just as much as someone paying my rent. The simple act of them loving me and asking if they could bless me makes feel valued by Father God and by my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Judy,
The same website had a post about Far From Over. He is having fun and doing well at Win Star and will be back in training in Feb. if all goes well. Never got a reply from the owners to my letter of voice mails but at least now there is some news of him.

Make that or voice mails.

Dear Shirlee:
Good to know Far From Over is also doing well.
I emailed Coolmore inquiring about Z’s brother and never heard anything back. Also, emailed another stable to inquire about one of our Peggy’s favorites, Gabbiano, who is supposedly retired to become a brood mare. Never had a reply there either.
It’s sad when you can’t find any info or keep track of these favorites. We are blessed to have Mr. and Mrs. Moss as Z’s owners. Love and Hugs, JB

Many thanks to all who are glad to hear about Barnaby and Traveller. I feel he really belongs a bit to all of you too, as, without this wonderful blog and the wonderful folks who read and love it, I would never have known of his existance ! All of the miraculous happeneings that led him to me came from here.
Rest assured that I give him all of your messages, hugs and kisses, and carrots!! He listens so intently as I talk to him, you wouldn’t believe it.
@ Sheena–The man with the family that lost 11 in Paris was on CNN this morning, telling that two children in his family were left orphans, as both their mother and father were killed. CNN is going to follow the story and let us know where we can contribute to help out. They are currently staying with their Romaniangrandmother, who doesn’t speak French. Poor little things.
Ann NC
Enjoy your winter digs, Barnaby.
Hope you have some pumpkin bread, apple cake and then peppermints!

It is lovely to think of you when leaves and grasses are all shades of chrysanthemums and sunshine is golden through the autumn haze.
It is soothing to remember you when all is quiet at the midnight hour, when it is velvet or bathed in silver.
It is comforting to know your faith overcomes your fears, that peace permeates your whole existence. You are aware that nothing equals the peace that passes all understanding.
It is with gratitude I know you are wise beyond human comprehension-and kind, even when there is reason not to be. You are the Great Spirit, the endless, loving Presence that blesses us in every hour.

Dear Kathy.I remember when my father was dying I got to experience the peace that passeth all understanding. It’s turning colder we are having 4 days of arctic weather!it’s remained so mild this year.Coneygree has been reshod and it’s all systems go for the Hennessy. The ratties are sad to be saying goodbye to Gourdon he’s going to live on a farm.Mango was a little cold yesterday but she only had 2 shoes on Mattie had hidden the others. Now she has a place in their hearts just as Katybug will always remain there.I was late getting home from town so now I am getting around the furbabies.Diesel’s story and how she died went viral online yesterday they were using the hashtag Jesuischien. It’s the first time we’ve had a female suicide bomber in Europe.People were annoyed the BBC never mentioned Diesel on the news.No more news from Boo about his travels.Hope you have a wonderful Friday eve. Love and hugs to you, kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Dear Sheena,
I think the only way we can get through losing someone so dear to us is through that special peace. Thank God we have that promise! Stay warm the next 4 days. Fingers crossed for Coneygree. Too bad the ratties have to part with Gourdon. Poor Mango. Hope the other 2 shoes show up. The news about Diesel was just so heartbreaking. Strange the BBC didn’t mention it. Rest in Peace Tiago — According to Bloodhorse by Frank Angst, Adena Springs announced Nov. 19 that 2007 Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) winner Tiago was euthanized after a long battle with an inoperable chronic digestive disorder.
Bred and raced by Jerry and Ann Moss, Tiago’s Santa Anita Derby victory earned him a berth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), a race won in 2005 by his half brother Giacomo . After a seventh-place run in Louisville, the son of Pleasant Tap finished third in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and later added wins in the Swaps Stakes (gr. II), Goodwood Stakes (gr. I) and Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II). He retired to Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs for the 2010 breeding season having bankrolled more than $2.3 million.
Tiago suffered his first major bout of colic in 2012 and did not service mares that year. Since that episode Tiago has been under the exacting care of Adena Springs Kentucky stallion manager Bill Drury and his dedicated staff.
Marshall (NC Broad)
RIP beautiful Tiago
