Happy Monday!
Alys sent us a few new photos of Zenyatta and her Tapit colt out on a sunny day.
13Z has become quite the big boy! He had a visit with the blacksmith last week—watch the video below to see how well behaved he was.
Alys also caught Coz and Cooper Sawyer playing with a jolly ball.
In case you missed last week’s updates, we have recently added new content to the Photos and Videos sections. Head on over to see the new 13Z gallery and an especially unique video of Z.
Enjoy!

Dear Z Team and Lane’s End:
Don’t know how it’s possible, but Z is more beautiful than ever. Red Prince is another even tempered Sweetie standing for the farrier. Thank you so much for all the new photos and the videos. COZ is just so handsome. Love seeing them all so happy. Hugs, JB
Sandra Frey
Thank you so much for these photos and videos shared, Team Z! So exciting to see Zenyatta and her “boys” – she looks to be an awesome Mother!
I’ve been following Eblouissante and all of the horses John Shirreffs trains – Mr. Commons is another favorite. Mr. Shirreffs patience has always impressed me – great things come to those who wait for the right time.
Blessing to all for a wonderful week!

Dear Terry: Left you a comment on the previous blog – gets a little confusing when the new one pops up.

13Z is taking the procedure better than Zenyatta.
First time I’ve ever heard someone correct Zenyatta! Though that banging on the stall gate is bad for her hooves.
Liz Carlin
Wow, that first photo, what an awesome shot! 13Z was mimicking Momma Z perfectly, even down to the ears and the attitude. That would make a great painting. Thank you for sharing and thank you for all you do!! Hugs from Tennessee!
Joanna_TX
Awww….they all look great! Thanks SO much for sharing with us. Zenny and her boys are just wonderful; I’m delighted at the thought that she’s passed on her temperament to both of them.
Just fabulous. Thanks again!
shirleeinindy
Thank you so much for the pcs and videos. Zenny and Little Red are the picture of health and beauty. Glad he has a playmate and it looks as if Zenny is mothering him/her too. We did get our chestnut. Here’s hoping for another Big Red!
Coz is growing into such a big boy. I know he will have to leave to train to be a race horse but just wish we could freeze this moment in time and keep all 3 as they are now.
Maryp NY
I had to look twice at that first photo. Alys caught them in perfect unison! That is a portrait.
Love you Zenyatta, Coz and red prince..kisses on your soft noses.

Dear Max: Puissance de Lune (power to the moon, translation). Talked with the stable – the young woman I spoke to directed me to his facebook page – from that, his stable name is “Frenchy”. Cheers, KathyR.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
That nickname is Too Cute. Love and Hugs, JB
Abigail_1849
You sure couldn’t use “FRENCHY” here in Quebec — people still associate it with the British conquest, LOL! But I love his registered name!

Dear Sheena:
Just saw the new photos of Prince George on Today’s News website. Still think he resembles his Daddy, but they go through so many facial changes as they grow. We’ll have to wait and see. Does seem to have blond hair, though. Love and Hugs, JB

Peggy try my remedy for when Muchie or Lea are running. I just go to Wal-Mart and buy a huge supply of tums and use them frequently until after the race.
Safe trip dear Gabby.

Peggy, I will keep , Gabby in my prayers.
Hugs!

Zensters,
I posted this on the previous post, but I’m repeating it here so everyone sees it.
Thank you to all pray-ers and well wishers for supporting me and my daughter thru her disc surgery, she came thru with flying colors. The Doc told hubby that the disc was crushing her nerve and couldn’t believe she could put up with the pain. Course most of us know women are born tough, but she couldn’t take it any longer. He said he was pleased with the outcome, but I will talk to her tonight to hear it from the horses mouth, ha, ha.
Sending thanks, love and hugs to all you special people, grayer haired, nails chewed, sue
P.S. so glad to hear Sue Noel and critters are safe.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks for the update Sue – so glad to hear the good news. Hope the recovery goes smoothly and she is pain free in the near future. Hugs, Sandy

Sue Noel/Sun Valley,ID
Here I am again!! Will tell you a bit about this HUGE fire—it is now covering more than 104000 acres. It actually began from a lightning strike about 26 miles from here, off of the shortcut to Boise on Hwy. 20.The fire spread from there in several directions and it burned the whole 26 miles on the ridge tops!! It now covers about 20 or 25 miles ,mostly in the mountains, but,in places has burned down to Hwy. 75,which is the only way up and down the Wood River Valley,in which the four main towns are Sun Valley,Ketchum (in the north part of the valley) and Hailey and Bellevue (in the south. Hailey, where I am staying with my dear friend,Judy,is 11 miles south of Ketchum and Sun Valley and Bellevue is three miles south of Hailey. The farm where Barnaby and Traveller are is about 5miles south of Bellevue. The main front of the fire, which has now raced way north as well, burning through the forest and mountains in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, going toward Galena Summit and the Sawtooth Valley. There are currently over 1000 firefighters here, many attack helicopters, fire engines from towns from all over this and neighboring states, the National Guard. The smoke in the air is horrendous. The air quality in Ketchum is at level Purple!! This morning when I drove up from Hailey, the entrance to East Fork was blocked by Humvees and the Guard!! It is like living in the middle of a disaster movie!!! The containment is now at only 8 percent. A few days ago, there were DC-10’s dropping fire retardent. Hopefully they will get a handle on it soon but it has been pretty scary.
Now that Barnaby and Traveller, are safe and that Sue and her dog and cat are down in Twin Falls with her dad,and that my cats and I are down at Judy’s,the worst is over for now. Judy loaned me her car on Sat. afternoon so that I could take my most precious things out of my condo,in case the worst happens and it burns down. I filled the back of her Jeep Liberty with my most special things so I will be able to make someplace feel like home if I lose everything else. It’s in Judy’s garage until we can go back home.
Prior to the fire the Valley had been just crawling with tourists–this is our busiest month of the year–even more than ski season. Losing business the last two weekas of August (it is a ghost town here now,our store is one of the few things that is open) is hitting the community hard. I had been busy a few weeks before that getting ready for our annual Cabaret Show, which went off well. Sorry I had not had time to keep in touch for awhile. Hopefully I’ll have my computer issues taken care of and it will calm down at work and I’ll be able to post more often.
Barnaby has been so good lately when I’m riding. One of these days I’ll do the bareback thing again. I keep thinking that I need to get more weight off for that though,as I feel sitting on him bareback is harder for him.He is so wonderfully patient with me and my awkward antics–it never ceases to amaze me.Just love that boy so !!
Loved the story about the rescued horse from the side of the road and how he was saved and how happy he is now. How in the world could some so mistreat an animal like that?????Sounds like he will have the perfect life from now on!!
Have to catch up on some more of the back postings–especially want to find Hvis’s latest missive, haven’t seen one of his since the one where he lost Hot Stepper—so sad for him.
My love to all and wishes for a peaceful night for all Zsters and most especially Queen Z,Coz and Little Big Red!!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Sue,
So glad to get this first-hand information. Some news reports use Hailey as the “location” for the fire, and I was so worried when you said that’s where you were staying. Left another message on your home phone – I knew you weren’t there but couldn’t think of an alternative. Glad to see you HERE! Please stay safe – hate to think of you going to work that close to the fire.
Kathy R.
Dear Sue: Glad you and those you love are safe. Know what you mean about that smoke – there’s just a panic in the air with bush fires, as we call them. I do hope there is some good news on the weather front. But I’m thinking of you, the livestock and your friends and praying for a change in the situation. Hugs KathyR.

Dear Sue Noels:
Glad to know all of you are safe. Please keep us posted. Love and Hugs, JB

WOW!!! Sue, so very happy to hear you’re safe. Fire is so scary. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers
Abigail_1849
Sue: This is all so scary. Fire is my worst nightmare and I’m always thinking about the incredibly brave people who risk their lives each & every day combatting fires and saving lives. So glad to hear that you, the horses, family(including the cats) & friends are safe. My thoughts are with you and I’m sending a special prayer that you & yours, as well as your homes, stay safe.
HeidiK, Vallejo,Ca
Sue, I talked to my dad last night, my parents live in Nampa. He said the fire is not near them. I’m happy that you’re alright.
Jan S. / Houston
Thanks Alys. Your pictures are always fabulous! Love the first pic. Zenny and 13Z synchronized walking! 13Z is well behaved with the blacksmith. And COZ is as gorgeous as ever. He could be the ball boy for the U of K Wildcats!!
Hugs & kisses to you and you’re boys. Mwah!!

Dear Mr. W. S. Farish
Thank you so very much for bringing us my beloved Gabbiano and for keeping the great War Pass’s legacy going.
Thank you ever so much. Thank You for Lane’s End.

Alys…you sure know how to use the camera! Zenny and 13Z look like to peas in a pod in that first photo. I think he loves his mom…a lot. Coz is as handsome as ever. What a gorgeous equine family they are…and we continue to get peeks into their lives which is a blessing in itself.

Liddy Update!!
Before things get too hectic, I would like to tell you all that Liddy went to her new home today! She was adopted by the nicest family with lots of other horses to have fun with!
I won’t post for the next few days, as I leave for Caz tomorrow and move-in day is Thursday. Wednesday is picking up things we bought online and had them shipped to store. I’ll try to post a picture of my room once I’m done moving in and I’ll describe my schedule a bit. If I luck out with Christmas money, I’ll be able to buy a GoPro camera so that you guys can watch my riding classes as well!
