Happy Wednesday!
Last month we spent a morning with John Shirreffs and his crew at Belmont Park. We tagged along to watch Coz and Ziconic gallop and work on morning lessons. After bath time and treats from us the brothers even posed for a photo together. Scroll down to the bottom of the post for videos.
Enjoy!

Pressure destroys some people and helps others rally to do their best. One seeks peace and order and another heads toward noise and chaos. A little of both keeps us on our toes, but it means we have to have good judgment.
Peace is necessary-even under pressure. Like the rhythm of the sea, we rise to high tide and relax back to calm. No different from inhaling and exhaling, we are created to keep the balance.
I am much indebted to the Father of us all-Him who made us and placed us on this earth.

Dear Kathy.I have never been good under pressure.I enjoy a calm, ordered existence!!!Her Majesty is in royal blue today.Wesley Ward has some runners today He has a fine record at RA.Hootenanny is running on Friday. It’s a beautiful day there would have been perfect for CC.Poor Blue 24 is collecting nesting material!Dai Dots and his partner have chicks to also a pair in Snowdonia but they are still waiting for Mrs G’s eggs to hatch. It was ad to hear about the Irish students killed in the balcony collapse at Berkeley. All only 21 their whole lives ahead of them.Families are flying over today.
Did you see the pics I sent of RA?If Zara Phillips isn’t pregnant I’ll eat my hat! I know she had greater difficulty losing her baby weight last year but…She said there would be no babies until after Rio in 2016.Remember in internashunal bizness one must stay hydrated!I saw the blonde mafia in Portland.Wesley has a runner in the 1st Luck of the Kitten.Lovely pic of Fubu and his bride-to-be Lucy-Lu.What did you think of Frankel’s statue? It would be so difficult to capture his magnificence but it was a fitting tribute.Sir Henry next????the US horses blast out of the stalls!!Dutch Connection won under Jim Crowley for Charlie Hills.Hope you have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO.I saw little gizmo Zoe’s boyfren so tiny!
Deb E.
Speaking of Zara Phillips, her little girl Mia is featured in People’s special collector’s edition celebrating the birth of Princess Charlotte. Evidently, according to Mike Tindall, Zara’s husband and Mia’s daddy, Cousin George came over for a play date and absolute carnage and destruction ensued! I guess there was a food fight!
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I definitely prefer calm, too! I’m really enjoying all the pics from Royal Ascot. So entertaining! Pink is definitely Her Majesty’s color. This would have been the day for CC to race if I’m not mistaken. That would have been so neat! At any rate, best wishes for all the horses and jockeys running today…safe trips for all. Poor Blue 24, indeed! She’s really behind schedule. Lots going on with the ospreys right now. I was very upset to read about the collapse of the balcony and 6 young lives taken. I agree with you, Zara looks pregnant. I thought Sophie Wessex looked so beautiful. Loved the color of the Duchess of Cornwall’s ensemble. To me Beatrice has very strange fashion taste, but maybe that’s just me. Yes, hydration is the #1 rule in internashunal bizness. I wouldn’t have known that if not for the ratties! Loved the pic of Boo and Buddy in Portland. All that GREEN was just beautiful! Yes, I saw that beautiful pic of Fubu and Lucy-Lu. I thought the finish on Frankel’s statue looked kind of funny. All splotchy. You’re right…his magnificence would be very difficult to capture. It was nice that they honored him, at any rate. Enjoy RA. Have a wonderful Hump Day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Wow a great win for Acapulco in the St Mary’s!!That girl is huge!!!!Wes Ward has a great record at RA and another winner for Ryan!Hugs Sheena.

Lovely statue of Frankel. Arrived here at the library just in time for more storming to pass through. Wind and rain, wind and rain. Isn’t that a line from The Longest Day? Tried to take a photo with my phone of the baby birds in the next in my biggest blueberry bush. Of course the largest berries grown right in that spot. All you can really see is fuzz and little beaks. Mom arrived and dive bombed me right out of that idea. Loved the video of Mario talking about Zenyatta. I’d seen it on here but they showed it on TVG yesterday. How he misses his big girl. But seeing him with Ziconic was such a wonderful sight.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I am absolutely gutted about the Grey Gatsby and Frankie’s fault keeping GG boxed in!!!But that’s racing I suppose!Great win for Wes and Coolmore.I found Long Run’s FB last night and he is steadily improving now. He’s out for a few hours in the paddock and on the walker.Ryan’s on 5!!!Sheena.
Max
Proud of the Grey. Great race. For once the experts were right but only nearly. GG was beautiful in that race even if he missed it by a nostril. Read about Acapulco. Impressive. Like her name too, chosen by Sue Magnier.
Good for Long Run. He’s had a rough go of it.

Sheena & Max
GG was checked more than once in the race-almost clipped heels.
And, there was a squeeze play going on.
Surprised that there weren’t some inquiries after the race.
GG and jockey were very brave.
BGG
Max
The jockey was Jamie Spencer. He had a tough job. Thought GG was magnificent. Ryan Moore often rides him but he had a commitment in that race to ride for Sir Michael Stoute. Might have been different if Moore had been with GG. Moore is in his own league, perhaps the best jockey anywhere.
Tizgood
I think Frankie Dettorie played a role in “messing” things up by getting
the lead for everyone at the beginning.

Last I read Moore has 8 wins this Ascot

Has anyone heard about how Coz is doing in his training? Seen any numbers? Has he finally learned how to “kick it into gear?” What about times for Ziconic, or is he just galloping now, no hard works. Seeing them is so wonderful, beautiful creatures, but some information would be nice!!! I am sure everyone wants them to be the best, top race horses, but the odds of that are pretty slim. The best of parents do not always produce the best of offspring. Be we can hope!
I just learned that my Brook is not pregnant. My beautiful vizsla, same color as Ziconic, no babies again. But on a good note, my male vizsla, Loki, won the veterans sweepstakes at the recent vizsla specialty show here in northern California. He also won a huge honor, a judge’s award of merit!!! And he is 9-1/2 years old, defeated many many younger dogs! I am so proud of him!

So much news on the blog. I have not visited in such a long time, that I don’t think I can begin to catch up. Perhaps a little at a time. So, to begin, Hope Lola Mae is improving everyday Judy.
Was torn up over Danzig Moon and have not watched the video. Just can’t I have Danish Dynaformer in my virtual stable, but once seeing we lost Danzig Moon I just cannot.
I see lots going on with Ascot and the Coburn’s and Art look pretty spiffy in their top hat and tails. What a trip now, just relax and enjoy since our boy has an injured foot. Get well soon, CC and I hope we see you very soon stateside.
I hope to attend the AP show on Saturday June 27th at Santa Anita. He certainly will have a huge turnout and some very nice racing. Our Ms. Beholder sure strutted her stuff.
I hope all who visit this blog are doing well and I am thankful Zenyatta is doing well too.
Hope to catch up a bit later.
Zenyatta….. your boys are sure handsome!!!
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Delrene,
So good to hear from you. We have missed you here on the blog. Hope all is going well in your world. Yes, it was very sad about Danzig Moon — gone way too soon. I don’t think I could ever watch that race and see his breakdown.
Please do stay in touch!
Hugs and Love,
Marshall

sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Tizgood.Oh,yes everyone bets on the colour outfit she will wear each day at RA!The POW was very exciting poor GG to lose by a whisker! The Coburns were there and the Shermans in their top hats and Steve actually had shoes on!!Certainly an experience for them.It would have been great to see how CC would have coped with the Ascot turf.No news yet on his future plans in this country but he’s getting better.Hugs Sheena.
Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
GG is a gorgeous gray, too bad he lost, a photo finish !!!
Seems like the fast turf would have suited CC, however
the slow start and the very fast closing might have been
a little confusing for him. I remember AK took off really
fast in the QA, where as the Euro’s start slow and that
confused him. Hopefully he will get a chance to race
in England. RA is such a wonderful week of racing.

Hi everyone, Just wanted to report a little about the Ocala Breeders Sales. It was wonderful and Sheik Mohammed sure bought a beautiful horse yesterday in the son of Scat Daddy. I was back in the back ring watching him the whole time he was back there. He was just prancing around too. Reminded me so much of our Zenyatta’s Dance moves. He is just awesome and a really big two year old. I went to the Barn area and did not go to the front ring to see him actually sell. Found out later who bought him. I was sure not surprised that he brought 575000.00. Wow he sure has a nice colt. Very Kind face too.
The two year old Eight Belles Family member, which I believe she will sell tomorrow was a sweetheart to me. I pet her a lot and she did not even nip at me. She is a really beautiful gray. I found her barn and went back there twice. Had to go back and tell her bye too. She looked really good to me. I think she will bring a high price also. I have a question if anyone knows the answer. I meant to ask about this. On some horses that go in the ring. I have noticed that some have markings on their backs. Like an embossed something from maybe a saddle clothe. Don’t know exactly how to describe it. but is that suppose to be something significant to a farm or owner. Right behind where a saddle would go. Embossing of symbols. Will this come off also. Just wondering about this does anyone know. Sure enjoyed the Beautiful Horses. Just could lose my mind.

If it is like what the RCMP do with their musical ride or ceremonial horses, it is cosmetic only. Their coats are trimmed on the hip or the hair is stencilled with a product to create a maple leaf. It is not permanent. The Australians on the other hand tattoo their TB horses. Black Caviar for example had such a tattoo.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
So glad you enjoyed your trip to Ocala and got to meet the beautiful Gray and other gorgeous Sweeties. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Max or Sheena. Saw some of the races this morning From Royal Ascot. Max what was the horses name that you liked that refused to jump fences? Just wondering if Euro Charlene took some lessons from him. As she refused to go in the gate this morning. Enjoyed what of these races I did get to see. Always enjoy them. Thought the Great Gatsby might get there too. Sure didn’t miss by much.
Max
Mad Moose refused to race on both jumps and the flat. Once he was a great racer, but he decided not to cooperate and has since been banned twice from racing by the British Racing Authority. Moosie however does not care. He got his wish. He is now retired and ridden by a lady. He lives in Yorkshire.
The Grey Gatsby proved again yesterday that the horse who comes in second is also a winner.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
Am so glad that Lola Mae has had the sutures removed and that she can say adios to the dreaded e-collar.
Thanks for the photo of LM — what a face, just TOO cute!! Hope she will come around to the aqua therapy. I can just picture her doing an impression of a log in the water; she sure is a little smile generator!
Take care, both of you.

My Dear Marshall:
Thank you so much for your sweet concern. Lola definitely has a mind of her own (most of them do as you well know). She does make me smile every day.
For now were doing warm moist compresses and then the manual range of motion exercises twice a day. Also, the doctor said to have her “dance” on her hind legs for a short time at least twice a day to strengthen the muscles. These exercises and all of the Auntie’s prayers are working. Love and Hugs, JB

Oops, should be “we’re” doing……

Survival is a decision. It seems not to be true when we are face to face with something or someone that is bent on destruction. But say to yourself many times a day, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” It is a declaration of freedom and absolute intent.
When you are standing on the edge of a very steep mountain, get your balance. Walk firmly away from any situation that would push you over. You’ll never know what a tremendous part your decision plays until you feel its power lifting you out of danger.
I am no child; I can think for myself. No man can think for me.

Dear Sheena,
Yes, such a tragedy in SC. Prayers for the relatives of those who lost their lives. I’m sure you’re enjoying Ascot so much. Fabulous fashions and outstanding racing. What’s not to love??? Yes, Simon Baker was in the Mentalist. Lots of celebrities showing up. That’s great! I’m sure Hovis is watching. He’s very au courant! What a good dad Monty is. Haven’t visited the ratties yet. I’ll do that next, followed by a visit to Mango’s page. Loved Zoe’s video. She’s such a doll! Check out the Clydesdales video on my timeline. You’ll love it! Enjoy Ascot and have a wonderful Friday Eve. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Today the British are commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo(don’t tell the French!!)The Duke of Wellington and allied troops especially the Prussians defeated Napoleon Bonaparte. The Duke and his horse Copenhagen became heroes.A former racehorse with a Derby winner and 2nd in his pedigree he went on to enjoy many years of retirement at Stratfield Saye and where he now rests.65,000 died that day. Will the human race ever learn by their mistakes?I doubt it.RIP Sheena.

Don’t forget Napoleon’s horse, Marengo. He was a hero too. Great gray Arabian, small but mighty like the Emperor himself.

@Judy–Such a relief that LM is doing well. I was concerned. THis morning on KTLA channel 5 the featured item was redneck sandals. Check out the website to see them. I can’t describe them without laughing.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear TC GP and Z Fans:
Thank you so much; I’m so relieved too that LM is doing so well.
Went to see Hudson for the first time in almost a month and she was so happy to see me, she let me kiss her on the nose. I gave her the last of the muffin treats I had frozen and two bags of carrots. Deb gave her a quick rinse off after she was cooled down from riding and put her fly mask on as the flies are just horrendous in the heat and humid days we are having here lately. As we were walking her back to the paddock, I wasn’t paying attention and Hudson kicked out (probably from a fly bite) and caught me square in the left thigh. OMG, searing plain. My upper leg started to swell immediately so Deb got some ice packs for me. I have been using warm moist heat on it once I got home. I have a lump on my thigh the size of a Biaccia ball (that’s the Italian Lawn Bowling Game) and my leg is sore down to my ankle. The whole thing was totally my fault as I usually am aware not to stand to close to the back end of the horses. Just a dumb mistake.
Unfortunately, I cancelled my visit to Charlie today. Will try to get to see him tomorrow. Never a dull moment. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Sorry to hear that you are injured. Don’t like the sounds of this. Might be good idea to get yourself checked out by a doc to be on the safe side. Take special care of yourself. You’ve been under a lot of stress lately. Rest is needed too.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thanks. I will get checked out tomorrow if I don’t see an improvement. You can actually see the partial imprint of Hudson’s shoe on my thigh. Just a stupid mistake on my part. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. I can imagine that that kick was a real shock to your system. There is a lot of power in those hooves even when it’s inadvertent. A friend of mine at college was kicked unexpectedly in the shin by one of his nicer horses. Very nasty wound and it took a long time to heal. Be careful with your health.
Ann NC
Oh No, JB, ouch, ouch, ouch.
Hope YOU get better and please take care!
Glad little LM has made progress.
Oh the power in those legs. Am sorry that happened to you, JB.

Dear Judy B.,
Oh, OUCH, OUCH!! I am so sorry that you were an inadvertent victim. Please do take care of yourself — I agree with Max; to be on the safe side, get checked out.
This sounds very painful so I hope you can get much needed rest tonight.
Charlie will be delighted to see you whenever you get there!

In his last recent outing in France, War Envoy, son of Zenyatta’s baby daddy, came in last of fourteen. Today at Royal Ascot, the son of War Front put in a glorious effort to win the Britannia Stakes.
Coz, this could be you.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Too cute. Congrats to War Envoy. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. The beak held an inquiry after the race because it was such a huge improvement since May 31. Explanation by Coolmore was that the English ground suited War Envoy whereas the French turf did not. The beak accepted this. The state of the turf seems to be all important over there.
Coz, maybe Belmont or Saratoga dirt might suit you better than SA?
