Happy Friday!
Spring is in full swing at Lane’s End! We spent the earlier part of the week in Kentucky visiting Zenyatta and her two boys.
13Z is quite a frisky and independent colt. He’s equally interested in greeting visitors and cruising around the paddock with his mom. You’ll see them running together in the video at the end of this post.
Coz, who is now a very handsome yearling, was always waiting at the fence to greet us.
There are so many more photos from this visit, and we’ll be putting up brand new photo galleries next week.
Enjoy!

Ann and Jerry Lane’s End, Thank you so much for the beautiful Pictures. Gorgeous.
This just made my day. Thank You ever so much.
I’m Derby Dreaming now, Oh gosh just 7 days.
Is it Wedsday or Thursday they do post position draw. Can’t wait. I just love so many of them this year. Sounds like Black Onyx is doing real good according to Jersey joe. I wish them all so much good luck.
Still have to root for the Wild Man, Vyjack, don’t know if he can get the distance but I do hope he can
Stay safe all Derby horses riders and all horses.

Peggy, thanks for the info. I like Black Onyx too. Unfortunately, there are about 5 of them I really like. Will buy a win ticket on Rosie and MyLute. It has got to happen someday. If she comes through, that ticket won’t be cashed but go in my scrapbook.
Just hope they all come home safe.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Shirleeinindy
me too shirlee. I also like Revolutionary. So many this year.

Thanks so much to Team Z and Lane’s End for these wonderful pictures and video — they are BRILLIANT!
This is the happiest, most uplifting place to be.
Hugs to Mama Z, 13Z, Coz and to everyone!

It really is the happiest place…and all because of one wonder mare, the spectacular Zenyatta, and her team.

Interesting read, because of the way the rescue family is handling “Former racehorse delivers twins”:

Thanks for sharing this , Vicki B.
I hope they will grow to be big and strong.Little miracles.
Max
Vicki B. Wow! Very unusual and a miracle for sure that all are well. God love them, and as Ann says, let them grow big and strong.

Dear Vicki B.:
What a great story. Very rare to hear of twin TB births. I wish we knew the Mom’s race name. She must have a very good career record having earned over a half million. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, JB
maureen phi-llips
Dear Vicki B,
What a story, very heart warming, it would be a Blessing if they both turn out to be great race horses and make it big in the racing arena. In God we trust. Thanks again, it is Well.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Vicki,
Thanks for this link — great picture with Zach between the two babies. Twin foals, Wow!
I guess Bella is still bringing it home. Sure do hope they thrive since they have started out in a wonderful, loving place. Hugs
Roberta
I can’t believe how our little prince stayed up with mom; she even came in on him a little, but he hung in there. I wonder what they think of him at Lane’s End; they see lots of foals, but they must see something special in him; he’s not even a month old!!!
Roberta
Forgot to add something; no wonder he has muscles, Zenny has him in training. I think she is having fun with him; maybe she sees him as someone to carry on the family name. I watch that video over and over again; can’t thank the connections enough. Zenyatta and her sons bring joy to this world!!!!
sheena.davies(wales)
dear max awesome run by hurricane fly yesterday!! now joins kauto and john henry with 16 grade I wins daddy montjeu would be very proud.kauto enjoyed himself today looking great as ever and Neptune showed off his dressage skills he’s very good a lot of the lambourn crowd travelled up together partytlme!!!now for the1st classics of the season hugs sheena
Max
Sheena. The Fly was just fantastic. I did hear that he had equalled Kauto and John Henry for grade 1 wins. Ruby and Willie must also be very proud. Loved to see him win like Quevega did on a hand ride. Ruby gave a few congratulatory pats on his neck before the race was over. Beautiful to see this rapport with the Fly.
Kauto looked magnificent as did Nipper. Nipper was really concentrating on his dressage work. Kauto mentioned that he shared a van with Sprinter Sacre, who talks a lot, according to Kauto.
How about Mad Moose? He refused to race the last two times as a chaser, and they switched him to the flat. He won yesterday at Doncaster on his first time out. Amazing. He must have a wonderfully versatile trainer. Mad himself has a mind of his own.
ST
Link Max,
Go go go Max get that link and post it !!
Ann NC
Sheena and Max,
I have watched that race a few times. It was great!
Max
Ann NC and Sheena. Cannot believe it, but Willie Mullins won the mares’ hurdle at Punchestown. The pundits were remarking on how good the technique was of the winner, a credit to her trainer. He’s a positive, nice guy with a warm sense of humor about his horses, even unconditionally loves the fighter and biter, the Fly, who took a piece out of him and may again if the chance arises. Here is a video of the final stages of the mares racing. Check out their speed. As Trina might say, they are all running like girls.

Thanks, Max. Willie has that special touch.
I loved seeing those papers fly up in the air at the finish line. LOL!

Team Z,
Thank you so much for the most beautiful photos!
Zenny she looks beautiful!
Z13 is one of the most beautiful babies ever!
Coz is also one of the most beautiful colts ever!
Hugs to all.

Dear Ingrid:
I agree; two of the most beautiful colts ever from a beautiful Mama. Hugs, JB
Wend;y
Thanks for all the pics and the video! Simply can’t get enough of Zenny and her boys!
Skye
Thank you so much for sharing these little moments in their lives. I’m in love with all three of these horses, and being able to have these glimpses into their lives makes me feel like I’m actually involved in what is happening day to day. So very generous!
Pam
I love that little guy and am very impressed with his strength and stamina at such a young age. Zenny looks to be having a ball with him.
On another subject, does anyone know what happened to Tasty Temptation? Did she have a foal this year? If so, did she bond with this one?
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Pam:
Lane’s End announced TT had a colt by Unbridled Song on April 10, 2013. Haven’t been able to find any more news on whether or not she accepted this baby. Hope she did and that they are doing well. Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
So hope she accepts this little one. Thanks for finding this.
ST
Pam,
We may also be aeeing Zenny’s maturity as a mothet, racing with her
Second son rather than behind him with her first like the closer she is.
sheena.davies(wales)
dear max thank you for the news about mad moose that’s just great maybe he’d got tired of the jumps nigel twiston-davies trains him and his son rides he’s only 9 so has quite a few more races in him. Quentin collonges won the big race at sandown today same sire as Neptune small and grey it was lovely to see Andrew tinkler hugging him at the end very tough horse hugs sheena
Max
Sheena. Mad Moose is one handsome, big ole chestnut. I was really surprised to read that he was switched to the flat and that he won on the first try. Wow! You might be right. Refusing to race was his way of getting a change. Nice to hear about Quentin. I read that he’s a small guy, but very tough. Love grays. Love all colors actually.
Could you let us know who might be a leading contender for the 2000 Guineas? A horse from Ballydoyle? In the 1000, I hope that Hot Snap wins for Henry Cecil. She’s also a chestnut, a very big filly like Z, who runs from last.
Yvonne
I hope the Mosses keep both of Zenyatta’s colts. They are attentive, kind, and responsible horse owners. Unfortunately they are also the exception and not the rule when it comes to the racehorse owners I’ve seen. The photos are lovely. Thanks for sharing and keeping us all in the loop.

Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Vicki B.–thanks for the article from Glen Rose. We know it well. There is a charming bed&breakfast there where we go for special occasion dinners. I do wish they had not bred the mare, but thank God she is way from those money-grubbing owners. Praying that the twins thrive and grow (that would be unusual, I think). Hugs.
carol in arkansas
I thought she was preggers when they rescued her?
Barbara Wood (Texas)
No, the rescue was 3 years before.
Beth From Brockton, Ma
Man-13Z has grown so fast! Amazing how he keeps up with Mom when they’re running. Speed obviously runs in the family,
Zenyatta looks great as always. She is getting her “figure back” too. Are they going to breed her back soon or is she going to get a year off?
She has produced 2 healthy, beautiful big colts, I think she deserves a break.
She still has plenty of time to have more foals.

Dear Z, COZ and Prince 2:
Sweet Dreams. Love Ya. Hugs, JB

Like other commenters, I want to thank the Mosses and Team Z for sharing the photos and video of Zenny and her new foal. These pictures of healthy & vigorous horses enjoying the green grass of Kentucky make me very happy! I love the video of Queen Z running with her colt.
Winstreak9
Thank You Team Z for the wonderful photos! Can’t get enough of Z13. What a looker! It’s great to see how happy & content Zenyatta looks. Love those dapples. Except for the different marking on the head, Coz looks just like his Mom.

Hi Zenny…hope you had a spectacular day…
Z13…do not bug mom too much….she will race you again tomorrow
Coz….I an sending you a hug…because you are always first prince

Queen Z and her boys looks great! Such beautiful photos! is Queen Z taking a year off from her produce of dam record? That choice is up to Jerry and Ann. It is getting late in the breeding season so perhaps Z will have skip a year.

This is mine and Red’s final photo shoot before I turn in my photo album for senior project on Monday. I have to put together my video collage of the training videos, show videos, and etc. I’ll put it on Youtube after Monday so you guys can see it! :-) I must say, as wild as Red’s mane is, my luscious mane is in no better condition in this picture. ;-)

Dear Pati-Derby Dreamin’
Thanks for posting this, QueenOf Suites looks too handsome. I wish he was not a gelding, and stamp his handsome imprint on some colts and filles, it is well though, he is too cute. Have a good evening.
Pati- Derby Dreamin'
;-) Queen of Suites is my twitter name. The girl riding is MEEEE and the horse’s name is Oils Invested. Or Red, or My Red depending on who you ask about him. lol
I wish he wasn’t a gelding too! He is a big sweet heart, and he is so patient. He is good for the big kids (like me) and the little girls as well. He is a good western pleasure horse, since he is too stiff up front to jump, but he does well in the English classes too. He’s the reigning Grand Champion in both disciplines at our local show series you know. :-)
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Pati
Thank you for sharing. These are great pictures. He is a beaufiful horse.
maureen phi-llips
Thanks Pati for the correction, my bad. Have a great Sunday. It is well.
Pati- Derby Dreamin'
It’s alright. Others have made that mistake a lot more often than you would think. It would be quite the interesting name, but for a mare maybe.

You and Red are beautiful. Thank you for posting these wonderful photos. Hugs, JB

Pati,
Thanks for sharing those great photos. You and the handsome Red make a great team.
Good luck w/ your project. We have turned in a few of those over the years. From graffiti, to natural horsemanship, to how to make a canoe, those projects can be time consuming.
So, as my girls would say, ” I’ve got this!”, and I know YOU do.
I know you will blow them away w/ your work!
Give Red a big pat on his neck.
Robin LOVES Zenyatta
A BIG THANK YOU to the Mosses, Kyle, Alys, and everyone who helps to get these fabulous pictures up on the site. It is so good to see the two boys and the Queen. They are all so happy – it warms our hearts. We are so looking forward to watching these boys grow up. We are all biased…but these two are pretty amazing compared with other foals and yearlings. Of course our Queen overachieves in everything!
maureen phi-llips
I just noticed something very interesting, in Prince CoZmic One first photo, he looked sad at not seeing his mama’ Ann, as he waited at the fence, fearing that she would not come. then in the 2nd photo, his face lit up when she showed up and he said, ‘I missed you mom,’ then in the 3rd and last photo, he was walking away happy.
Is it just my imagination or did any one else notice that?.
Tanx, LOL to all.
Marshall (NC broad)
Goodnight Zenny, 13Z and Coz. Sweet dreams to one and all.
RIP George Jones, aka the Possum. We will not stop loving you today, or ever for that matter. You are the best of the best in country music for all time, IMHO.
Thanks for the great music!

RIP, George Jones.

Possum, really?
I’m an opossum fancier.
I don’t know his stuff too well, but I have heard of Mr. Jones. IMHO Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson , but Johnny Cash in particular was the all time Great.
Why was he called possum, hopefully not for eating them?! :(

RIP George Jones!! I grew up listening to him. My Dad loved him!!! He will be missed but, his legacy will continue.

Wonderful pictures of Zenyatta and her colt — each is so special, they warm the heart and soothe the soul. It’s so amazes me that a few brief moments at this website can lift my spirits after a long and tiring day. The Queen and her Royal offspring are just amazing. 13Z appears to be quite precocious, fiesty and full of life — he looks so proud of himself. Coz has grown into a big and beautiful colt, please Z Team, continue to nourish his friendly disposition and outgoing personality. I think he still misses Z and needs affection! You know, I recently listened to an interview with a bloodstock agent who gave a long explanation as to how he determined what yearlings or 2 year old colts he’d purchase at auction. Part of his dialogue had to do with how great stallions “stamp” their foals — and he then added that sometimes the mare will have a greater impact and I immediately thought of Zenyatta. No matter what her foals look like or who sires them, she will stamp them with her heart and that will be the essence of all they may achieve. Our Dancing Queen looks remarkable with her dapples glowing in the Kentucky sunlight, I think she grows more beautiful with each passing year, is that possible?
Thank You Lane’s End, The Z Team and Ann and Jerry Moss for sharing so much of Zenyatta’s life with all of us. You receive so many Thanks You’s, but please know that these expressions of thanks are sincerely sent your way.

I want to thank Jerry and Ann and the rest of Team Z for sharing these wonderful pictures with us. I’ve been down on my luck lately but all I have to do is look at these pictures and my day immediately brightens. I love Zenyatta and followed her through her racing career. She has taught me alot about not giving up and putting 100% into everything I do. I think Cozmic One is a beautiful colt. I think he has wisdom and he is just so handsome and regal. I have been watching him grow into such a wonderful colt that looks almost identical to his granddam Vertigineux. I can see a future champion. 13Z seems to be more frisky and he has such a gorgeous face. I know they are horses but they are helping cope through some very hard times. Thank you for sharing them with me. I love you all!

Good morning Z family! Here are some red horses with white faces to greet you along with our handsome, Arabian like Z13! I can’t wait to see him as a yearling!
Coz, dearest first prince, I hope they take a profile shot of you soon! I want to see if you are a bit more proportional now as a bit older yearling. I can’t wait to add you to my Equibase virtual stable and read about your works and then maybe go to a race! Oh, the excitement for your fantastic future is building!
