It’s here!
The Zenyatta.com forum is now ready for you to join. Just click on the FORUM link in the menu bar above.
In order to participate in forum discussions, you must create an account with the user name of your choice. Each user has a profile and personal inbox in addition to the public space. The forum includes a couple features that many of you have asked for: the ability to edit posts and the option to sign up for email notifications about new comments and messages.
While updates and Zenyatta news will continue to be posted on the rest of this website, the forum is your space to connect with each other and maintain friendships that have already been forged.
If any of you have questions or trouble signing up, feel free to ask us here.
You may also notice that the DIARY and NEWS items can now be accessed through the single menu item, BLOG. From there you can choose to view Z’s Diary, News, or both.
In other news, Tasty is still patiently waiting for her foal to arrive.
There are also new photos of Z and her colt available for purchase in the SHOP! Check them out here.
Enjoy!

All: Has anyone heard from Terry Crow?

I have been assessing the new site. This particular part of it is the way the whole thing should have been set up. Can someone tell me how one can reply to the posts that have been made?

Terry – glad to see you back. I believe if you log into the Forum, then click on the name of the person posting, and it will take you to a window to respond to that post. I don’t know how it works from there. Can everyone read the responses that everyone leaves or are the responses only available to the poster. I think that if someone wants to have everyone see their response to a particular poster, then the Blog is the place to do it. I don’t have any idea if what I just said is correct, just how it looks to me.
Terry Crow
Rosemary-I left a comment for you on the who’s who section on the forum. It appears that you can respond to someone’s post, but it is for that person’s eyes only and is not generally available to all. In my opinion, which I know is not much, all should be able to see any response, like on this blog. Reading all of the responses is half the fun. Now, you would have to click on someone’s name for each subject and even then you can only read the response to that person’s post. Anyone else agree?
Karen Gogue PROUD Nanny/Granny ♥♥
Once again, I do agree with Terry completely!

Dear Rosemay M., Terry C. and Karen G.:
I just found out how to reply to a specific comment. Each of the comments in all of the Discussions have the User’s Name the date next to that and then the word “Quote”.
If you want to reply to a specific comment, click on the word “Quote” above that comment, then scroll down to the comment box. You will find the specific comment you want to reply to typed in the box. You can then type your reply underneath it and submit. I hope I didn’t confuse you more. Give it a try. Hugs, JB

Thank you so very much for sharing the new and totally adorable photo of our young prince!! He is growing so fast and looks like such a precious being. No wonder Zenyatta adores him so. I cannot imagine any other horse’s connections ever being so generous as to provide such a wonderful space for the fans who love their horse to be able to keep in touch with the after racing life of the horse as well as one another. Team Zenyatta rules again!!! Thank you so much. Now I’m going to try to figure out the forum and see if I can get started there. Did I already say thanks? Thank you!!

I am so glad there is a new way to keep in touch with Z and baby! I really miss the diary but at least this will be a way to comment for the Zanatics like me! Love you always Z.

I’m looking forward to following our Queen, her son, Tasty, Eblouissante, John and Dottie, Mike and all other connections right here with all of you.

@Margaret I’m ECSTATIC!!!!,
I am having trouble getting this posted. Anyway I am looking for you because I read your post before the baby shower. You said you could not get a poster because you had made a donation to an equine charity. I picked up a few extra and one has your name on it. I was unable to make a donation to any of the charities so I thought I would get you a poster since you had. Please email me your address and I will email you a poster.

Hi Z Family what a Beautiful picture of Baby Z. That is what we call him in the classroom. We played a game this morning and already a team wanted to be called Baby Z. So Baby Z was competing against his mama Zenyatta. Too cute. I have not signed up for the Forum yet. I am a little nervous because I am so not good with computers. I am glad to see Terry Crow. Take that PETA!
http://www.paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-paddock/the-peta-distortion-how-luck-s-cancellation-was-far-from-ethical/
Terry Crow
I would think that an organization such as HBO would have checked its facts before it took action. Regardless of what one thinks of PETA, it apparently was not done in this case.
Sharon in Atlanta, GA
You’re right, Terry. I’m surprised at that as well. Could be a mixed agenda here but we’ll probably never know the truth of it.
Terry Crow
Agree.
Raylene/ So Cal
Great article. Thanks for link. I had heard also that PETA only spent one percent of their income on the care of animals. This is a shame and I wish more people knew about this. They Are NOT people for ethical treatment of animals. They are Greedy people. They also had about eight percent of their income under other expenses that they did not have to explain. what a load of you know what!!!
Sharon in Atlanta, GA
I so wish it was a case of “take that…”. PETA won’t even turn a hair at this. They accomplished what they wanted to do. Get more publicity. I remember when they first started. They had worthwhile things to say. Not anymore! Very interesting the IRS findings of 7.5 million in salaries and less than 1 million actually being spent on animal and rescue charities. Shame on them!
Karen Gogue PROUD Nanny/Granny ♥♥
Yes, unfortunately that is so true!
Terry Crow
Good point, Sharon. PETA’s mission statement when the organization first started was admirable and deserved to be supported by the populace. However, politics have taken over.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Thanks, Karen! That was excellent! Distortions and lies. I also liked the quote: “According to its latest IRS Form 990, PETA is an organization that spends $7.5 million on its own salaries each year and less than $1 million supporting animal welfare organizations.” So, their motivations seem even more suspect, more like self-aggrandizement.

Oh! My beautiful prince you look so much like your mammy, love your ears, you are so cute, and you are so adorable.
I want you to know that I miss seen you and mammy’s photos, I wish they post every day some of them.
This past weekend as always I did my betting, some how I was very down and I ask my self why I am feeling this way, then I realize that when your mammy was running I always think on her, and because her my handicapping was so good that I always won, some how she was my lucky charm. Even after she retired only looking at her photos, I got the inspiration I need it to win.
I love you and I miss you my adorable Zenyatta, Ingrid

Well, whatever it was I’m sure it was brilliant. Getting used to everything might take a while, but it will be fun. I have an idea to run past a few people for their input, check with Trina for the details.

According to what Trina has told me, it sounds like a great idea. However, I will disqualify myself.

@Terry Crow
I’m trying hard to be “progressive” here, but I agree with you. The new forum isn’t difficult but more confusing as far as WHICH discussion to watch and/or participate in. However, I don’t think that the format precludes the “redneck” club. You could start a new thread (like Sierra did for her stories) or post one of your “you might be a redneck ifs. . . ” under one of the general headings. Glad to see that you’re still here :-)
Sandy
Karen Gogue PROUD Nanny/Granny ♥♥
haha, yes, I agree Sandy! Me too! BUT the flow from one poster to another, and their communication with one another, and the ‘closeness’ which was felt, on any subject, is now gone – except here at this blog. Although, it sometimes got off on other topics other than Zenny, although it never wandered far from her, WE ALL KNEW it was still Zenny’s site and this was where we’d find her. Sometimes I felt that some would rather communicate with each other than were here for Zenny. Thus, at times, it would become a ‘chat room’ if you will. (AND GUILTY AS CHARGED TOO!) But maybe that’s why the forum was created … for those who want to just ‘chat’ about things they feel important to them and others. Which could turn out to be ideal, with those who want to venture farther away and still have contact with one another, and for those who want to stay right here and feel connected this way. I, too, was heartbroken at the changes, with Dottie no more, but do understand completely – my GOD the woman is a Saint for doing what she did for so long! Bless her! I can only speak for myself, and I will eventually post to some forum ‘chats’ if I feel I can contribute, but will always know where my ‘heart’ truly is. Thank you Team Z and Web Team for this new forum, it will work out great. I think that what JSmith posted earlier says it all:
“Team Z & especially Zenyatta’s Web Team, thank you so much for all your work on this site. I really appreciate all you do for us, It’s really above and beyond all that is reasonable to ask. THANK YOU for making so many people happy!”
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Karen,
Yes to everything you said. I guess I’m still feeling like I haven’t got a lot to say (never having either met Zenny or seen any of her races), and I still shake my head over the fact that if fate hadn’t put me in front of the TV the night that 60 minutes did her story, I wouldn’t be here at all. I’ve learned so much and appreciated the experience of getting to know her better (through the eyes of voice of Dottie, of course).
The “bonus” was getting to know some of the wonderful people who post here (not that everyone isn’t wonderful, but there are a few that I feel “connected” with). It really has become sort of a virtual “family” for me at a time when I really needed some support and people to think about beyond my somewhat narrow world (and having something to look forward to each day other than “how much is my knee going to hold me back TODAY?” has really been a godsend). So I, too, am guilty of using the space to talk back and forth to others as well as seeing it as Zenny’s place. It was tough to lose her voice here – just hope the “forum” approach won’t result in losing the other aspects of what this has become.
Terry Crow
Zenny’s original web site, I consider this to be a variation, was started for people like you, Sandy. Glad you have enjoyed being here. Yes, I am probably the most guilty of posting things that are not strictly related to Zenny. When I first started posting, that is the type of messages that I conveyed. As I grew to know and love the people on the site, I branched out into things you might say were a little off-the-wall. I know that everyone appreciated the humor. I will leave it up to the membership if I should resume what I was doing before. I will abide by your decision.
Terry Crow
That should have read I know NOT everyone…
Karen Gogue PROUD Nanny/Granny ♥♥
Terry – Zenny herself would be the first to tell you “Terry, my ‘dumpling redneck’ , you better not change a thing about your posts! Family is family and whatever you want to post is OK by ME! Wink Wink!” ♥♥

Hi Karen,
Thank you for stating Zenny’s fans’ feelings so well about Zenny’s website. We all love Zenny and now also her new Prince. Many of us have meandered off Zenny’s path a bit in sharing some things in our own lives, but it’s been a privilege to learn so much about Zenny, horses, horse racing. And also to share each others joys and sometimes difficult moments. Thanks, Karen, you said it so well. God’s Blessings
Rosemary McCauley - So. Cal.
At this time, I personally agree that the Blog is the best way for us to stay connected. Terry Crow – you should not change, the humor is delightful and everyone needs humor in their life and look how many people joined in passing along their own sense of humor. The communications between posters is also amusing to read, even when you don’t communicate with that poster yourself. I am one of Zenyatta’s biggest fans, and if I don’t post strictly to or about Zenyatta every time, I don’t feel that is straying from the intent of the site. As much as I love our QUEEN and her connections, it would prove to be somewhat repetitious if every post was the same adulation just using different expressions and words.
Please don’t misunderstand – I am only here because it is Zenyatta’s website . and I am as obsessed (in a good way) with her as anyone. Have personal photos of her that I took when I visited her at Barn 55 and memorabilia busting out of drawers. I’m just saying that it’s a good thing if we are diverse in our communications and that it doesn’t in any way negate our feelings for the QUEEN and now her little prince.
