It was a pleasure to be able to spend time with Zenyatta and see her doing so well. She was looking so good and, most importantly, happy! It was especially great to visit with some of her longtime friends Claudia and Julio, who never missed a race. There was lots of joy to be shared, and of course a few carrots :)
We also were able to visit with Coz, and what a special experience that was. I have always wanted to sit atop Zenyatta, not even hoping to ride her, but never got the chance. There I was, with Isabela and Sergio‘s kind suggestions and help, riding Coz!! It was absolutely thrilling and such a joy…something I had never even dreamed!
He continues to do so well in his new life and they are very excited about his coming competition in the Thoroughbred Makeover this October 5-7. I am so hoping to be there and cheer him on. It is absolutely wonderful to see him soooo relaxed and happy and actually “jumping” in joy.

Dear Marshall & Ann,
Prayers for both of you and all in the path of Florence. I hope that you will all be safe-this is going to be a really bad one from what I have heard on the news.
Please send a post as soon as you can after the danger is over so that we know you are ok. We will worry until we hear from you. May God keep everyone safe!

I join you in your concerns for our Ann and Marshall in NC and our Peggy in GA and all in the path of this horrible hurricane. Stay safe. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Donna Z and Judy,
Thank you for your sweet thoughts and prayers. So far the power here has stayed on, and we haven’t had much rain. I sincerely hope that continues, but we are not out of the woods yet apparently. There have been a few instances of downed trees and some outages in the area so we continue to be living in uncertainty for the next 2-3 days.
I hope Ann and Peggy are doing as well as I am, too. ?
Have a good weekend.
Hugs and Love to all

Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy,
I second this! Sweet Dreams to all.
So far so good, but I fear we may lose electricity eventually when the wind and rains get farther inland. I will be in touch as soon as possible, but my side of the street is in a “donut hole”, or make that a black hole, when it comes to outages. Our block and those few blocks behind us always have to wait longer to have power restored — it’s very annoying to see lights in houses across the street when we go days without. ?
Hope everyone in the path of Florence stays safe and well. ?

Dear Sheena,
Wishing wonderful retirements to Saxon Warrior and Alpha Centauri. Both of you will certainly be missed in racing. Hope both of you recover from your injuries quickly and smoothly. Health, long life and lots of love to SW and AC! ?
Florence has almost left North Carolina at last. It seems an eternity, but here the worst has been dismal rain — electricity stayed on thankfully and not much damage that I have heard of in Chapel Hill and surrounds. The coast is a huge mess — thoughts and prayers for those who have lost so much. ?
The remnants of Florence even affected the FEI International Equestrian Games the past couple of days. The games are being held in our NC mountains, Tryon Equestrian Center in Tryon, North Carolina. I enjoyed watching the Cross Country event yesterday — it was replayed this afternoon so I watched it again. The show jumping was scheduled for today, but it will be tomorrow due to rainy conditions caused by Florence in its path northwest.
I think it will be on in the AM (maybe 10AM?). I missed the dressage portion of the Games.
The sun is set to re-appear maybe Tuesday, I think. Old Sol will be very welcome!
Hugs and Love

Dear Marshall:
So glad that you didn’t lose power and hoping our Ann was as lucky.
My heart breaks for the mom and baby and all who lost their lives and homes in this awful hurricane. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy,
That was a very tragic thing that happened when a tree fell and bisected their home, killing the baby. Yesterday, or this morning, another child was lost when his mother drove into water that was on the road. The car was inundated, and the mother lost hold of the 1 year old. He was washed away and drowned. Water is very powerful, and we are cautioned not to drive through it but to turn around and find another route. RIP innocents.
Hugs and Love
Sandy (northeast Ohio)
So glad to see a post from you Marshall, and Ann also checked in this morning and is OK as well. The pictures and video from NC are just . . . . . hard to think of the right words other than awful. Thinking of all of you as the clean-up begins. Please keep us posted on how thing are going for you. ♥♥
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sandy,
Thank you for your sweet thoughts and prayers. I cannot believe this storm has lingered for so long. Florence is a tropical depression now and has exited our state, but her effects are still felt. There will be a lot of clean-up and rebuilding in several areas east of us here in Chapel Hill.
Early this morning we had a big thunderstorm with a lot of rain, a downpour!
My street must have been a river since my rollout garbage bin was carried down the street and around the corner! I had to go out in the rain and retrieve it — that’s never happened before. Other neighbors had the same experience.
Nice to see the sun today, albeit briefly. Tomorrow afternoon we should start a spell of sunny days which are a little less humid. Yay!
Hugs and Love
Judy Berube
Dear Sheena:
Hope Gladstone is found soon. Wishing Saxon Warrior and Alpha Centauri complete recoveries and happy retirements. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties
