Happy Monday!
We thought it would be nice to start the week with photos from last week’s visit to Lane’s End. Ann and Jerry went to see Zenyatta and her colt with bags of carrots in tow. Both Z and her son are doing well, enjoying the crisp Kentucky fall air. Zenyatta is healthy and happy, and 12Z is growing fast!
Enjoy!

Did I read that correctly…Ebby had another 46? workouts. Anymore info on what type to be so many or was this a little humor between guys?
Pati-Waiting for the holidays!
I think this was playful banter. :-) Ebby would have had to work out twice a day almost everyday to get another 46 workouts in between her start, and this current race. lol I did a double take when I read that too. :-)
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I think 46 represents her total workouts with John – not just since the last race.
Keta
Sandy,
You and Sign (post on previous page) may be reading this better than I did.
I thought he meant a literal 46 from debut race til now-an impossible feat.
Sign says Ebby has actually had 47 workouts including 2 after her debut
race. So, now I think he was saluting John for the workouts.

Actually Sandy And Keta,
See below, I posted “E” equibase page.
She had 45 works before her first race, HRTV commentators
commented on that and she had 2 after for a total of
47 lifetime works.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Well . . I guess I was off by ONE!

Sandy,
We can see how Twitter, banter can make things confusing.
Thanks for all of your skill in “sorting” those tweets out

I took it to be a little horse-race humor.
Sorry, I usually flag my funny ones–didn’t this one.
Should have shared my laughter.

Here’s a nice win at Gulfstream by Stopshoppingmara. I recall that she is a cousin to Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty. She was ridden by their Uncle Johnny aka Johnny V.

Dear Max:
Thanks for this article on Stopshoppingmaria. Think I read that MR named her for his wife. Too cute. Hugs, JB

JudyB. Yes, she is named after Uncle Mike’s wife. He comes up with some interesting names for his horses.

This is an article about Little Zenyatta’s sire, Spring at Last. Spring in the Air comes from a very good family.

Trina Nagele in SoCal
Thanks, Max. Love that Spring in the Air!
Max
Trina. According to her trainer, Spring in the Air has a very nice disposition and is a joy to be around, just like our Z. Her sister, Spring Venture, is described by Mark Casse as “mean” and a “handful.” This might be the Dynaformer genes? I am following the careers of both of these fillies.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max an Z Fans:
Discovered when reading this article on Spring at Last that my Papa Charlie has a close connection to his line. Papa’s Grand Sire is Deputy Minister and his Great Grand Sire is Vice Regent just like Spring at Last. The advantage Spring at Last has is that his Dam is a daughter of Dynaformer. Great genes on both sides. Thanks for this link. Hugs, JB
Trina Nagele in SoCal
What a lovely connection, Judy! You can be very proud of Papa Charlie, and we are honored to be able to call you, his guardian angel, our friend.
Max
JudyB. Interesting about this connection. PC is a lucky horse, but most lucky of all to have you to protect him. Always happy to hear your stories about him.

Dear Trina, Max, Vicki B and Z Fans:
Thank you all for your kind comments. I love investigating bloodlines and you do find connections in so many of our beloved TB’s.
I saw Charlie this morning and he and his blanket were covered with mud from rolling in the paddock. Angela said she had him all groomed and pretty before he went out. He’s so funny. He made short work of the carrots and mints I brought him. Angela loaned me a DVD of six of his winning races that she purchased from the Videographer at Suffolk Downs. Can’t wait to see it. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. If he is rolling in the mud, he must be very happy. I recall that he prefers Canadian peppermints? It must be those Northern Dancer genes at work. Frankel in training would only eat Canadian oats.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Oh yes, he’s a very happy boy. Loves running free and rolling in the paddock.
Along with the Canadian mints, I brought each of them a small candy cane. I broke them up in pieces and they enjoyed them very much. Those Northern Dancer genes undoubtedly are the reason Charlie favors Canadian mints. Didn’t know about Frankel’s preference for Canadian oats. Too cute. Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Until Papa Charlie taught me about Canadian mints, I never knew that there were such things. Thanks to Barnaby, my knowledge of apples has also increased. We learn good things from these noble and peaceful creatures.
I really smiled at the thought of PC and pals chowing down on those candy canes.

What wonderful loving photos! Thanks Alys/Lanes End…well done!

All I can think of tonight is those beautiful babies so happy, anxiously waiting for Christmas day and dreaming of Santa Claus. These 20 stars will shine bright across the heavens as Angel Santa hugs and embraces them in his warm loving heart … Angels gone too soon … RIP little ones. My prayers for all the families who lost their loved ones …

Beautifully expressed, Karen. Our prayers are with all the tragically bereaved.

Karen. God bless all of these poor souls who are lost through this evil act and those who must bear the grief of their loss. This terrible event colors everything. The only solace that we have is the certainty that good will always conquer. We must keep strong with love.

The weather has cleared here and it does look like Ebby will be running. Good luck and good times to all who go to BHP today. Will return with the redneck jokes next week, considering everything that happened yesterday.

Indeed. May we all remember the little angles who met the great Kingdom too soon. The honorable Terry Crow always knows what to say. Looking forward to seeing E, and hopefully going away and winning!
Hope the Z family that goes can keep us updated with BHP, and E! Take lots of pictures for us on the other side of the country that can’t make it out there! :-) Please, and thank you!

I just keep feeling sadness for that classfull of kindergartners – Gone! and the total craziness of the one who somehow apparently “believed” he needed to shoot them, instead of just himself. Tough and indescribable loss for those 20+ families.
