Little quiet spells are as rare as jewels. Many can’t stand even a little silence and try to fill it with empty chatter-or with words that should never have been spoken.
It is a great art to be silent. The Cherokee calls it da lo ni ge s to di – e lu we i, which is golden silence.
We paint with our words that which we want others to see, and we choose colors to communicate, to understand, to sense. The fewest words make silence speak most eloquently.
The fruits of silence are self-control, courage, endurance, patience and dignity.

Belated but sincere Happy New Year wishes to everyone!! We had a cold but beautiful day here on the “north coast” – very unusual for this time of year. Was SO glad not to have to deal with snow removal before the arrival of the “adult orphans” group who have been celebrating the new year together for decades now! I am so grateful for my Zenny family and hope that 2015 will be a good one for all. Happy Birthday to our horse friends and especially Zenyatta and her brood! Many thanks to the Mosses, Team Z, and all of the Lane’s End folks for all they do for their horses and all of us.

Happy New Year Zenny, Coz and Ziconic. Also to all the Zenyatta connections and my friends in Z Nation. I experienced some Z magic during the holidays. The library was closed for several days and when they returned internet service wasn’t working. I was terribly disappointed. As I was checking out my books the internet suddenly came on and I was able to view the wonderful photos of our Queen. Just as I reached the bottom of the page the internet went down again. Zenyatta Magic! Reading about Coz is just thrilling. He seems to be developing more rapidly than I expected. I know Jerry, Ann, Dottie and John will do just what is right for him. The potential is staggering. A new racing year! I’m so excited.

While you are at Oaklawn, keep an eye out for Ride On Curlin. He is training there now. He tried in the TC races and did not have a bad showing. He should be really good this year as the Curlins seem to get better with age.

Some say reality is a thing that can be touched. But reality is more real in the invisible than all we see and touch with our fingers/.
Trying to face reality without knowing what it is is little different from seeing a tiny stone and finding it is a boulder buried in the earth. Reality is not a one-dimensional flat surface where everything is visible-but it is spirit and life and faith and love. We may not observe these things but we feel their influence.
Prayer is the straight line to the invisible, changing what we see from above and beneath. We cannot see it, but it is the substance of reality, the u w wi and a da nv to, heart and soul of life in its highest form.
It does not require many words to speak the truth.

Thanks for these lovely pictures of Zenyatta. She looks so healthy and happy. This year without being in foal has her girlish figure back. I wish the best for her in the new year. I have read she will be bred back to War Front. Saw him last fall, wow beautiful. He let us pet him. Great disposition. I’m sure their little filly would have made quite a name for herself, ended so sadly, such is life. I look forward to anticipating another foal of theirs. What a combo, a match made in heaven. Thankyou for sharing her life with us, brightens the days.

Good morning, Zenny and everyone here in her fan family. We had a great snow covering the mountains all around us last night. It’s only about 3-4 inches deep here at our place. Went out to take pics, and the horses were kicking up their heels ! We may be frigid, but the ‘babies’ just love the cold and snow. I wish you all could see how beautiful it is. @carol in Arkansas–Hope you enjoyed the Hee Haw marathon on RFD TV last week. An example–All of the regulars were gathered at the general store which doubles as a doctor’s office. Grandpa Jones asked the doctor “Well, after my check-up can you tell me if I have to cut back on wine, women and song?” Doctor–“Well, let me put it this way. You can still sing.”

Happy New Year!! I grew up watching Hee Haw. My dad loves the show!!! I sure hope he knew about this marathon. If not, he will be so disappointed. Not too long ago my dad received a call to see if he would be interested in buying a CD of all of the shows. They were trying to determine if there was enough interest to produce the CD. My dad never heard anything more about it. He was so disappointed.
