Congratulations Team Z!This is great news.We must never forget racehorses after they leave the track.Hugs SheenaX
Deb E.
Great job Team Zenyatta! Not all race horses are as loved and cherished as The Queen has been after leaving the track, and they deserve the same respect and support as well. If this new trailer can make their lives easier in any way then all the more power to them!
Mike Smith just posted pictures of him breezing a certain handsome young man with the initials C.O.!!!!! YAY!
Marypny
It was certainly my honor to help Zenyatta help others. The horses will travel comfortably in that beautiful new trailer.
Thank you as always Team Z for letting us know.

WONDERFUL! May the LORD richly BLESS everyone involved!

Snazzy trailer! Happy for the horses who get to ride safely and yet in style.
I am thrilled I was able to be part of this even in the smallest of ways.

Another of the Beast’s pals won at Aqueduct last month. Overthespeedlimit
often mimics the Beast by standing on his hind legs and reaching for the skies. Have not heard how Big Trouble is doing.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Here’s Overthespeedlimit winning his Maiden at A on 2/7/15. Big, gorgeous Gray. Is it me; thought Ortiz overdid the whip toward the end of the race (counted 7 strikes). Love and Hugs, JB

Max
Thanks so much for that video. Ortiz did use the whip a lot. Think that he was afraid that the two horses behind were closer than they were. Once he looked back, he went with a hand ride. Over will probably have a less than quiet neigh or two with him for next time. He’s a good looking gray with a nice blaze for now.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Yes, I think you’re right. Jockey felt the others were closer than they actually were. Over is a beautiful Gray. Love and Hugs, JB

I think that the dumb ass partners have finally earned their name. It takes most horses months to recover from a trip to Dubai. Now CC is being asked to go to a place where races are run the opposite way of what he is used to and tun on a surface that he is not familiar with. Yes, I know he ran on the turf at Del Mar, but that turf was like a billiard table while the turf in England is very high. As far as i know, no American horse has ever been really successful there. I understood the journey to Dubai, as the money involved was substantial. All the dumb asses needed to do was to look at a world globe. Do they realize how far north England is? CC is really going to be out of his element and likely not to be the same again. In addition, he will be without his trainer, for the most part, and his handlers will be strangers to him. I cannot say enough bad things about this move.
Abigail_1849
Totally agree, Terry. And I feel so badly for Art Sherman, who was only told after the World Cup race was over. VERY SHABBY.
Janet Newman
Terry,
Your assessment hit the nail on the head. He is going to a top notch place, but it still isn’t home and I would have looked at the Arlington Million here in the states.
Max
If they want him to run on English turf to prove some point, he could go to Woodbine before the Breeders Cup. Prize money is better there too.
shirleeinindy
Terry,
You named them right! What is going on in their little pea brains?? Do you think they might be trying to create foreign interest in Chromie with an eye on selling him??? Shabby is a kind word for this.
Max
There is lots of speculation in the social media about selling him to foreign interests such Korea or Turkey. Nothing certain about any of this.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Oh, I hope not. Hoping he comes home. Love and Hugs, JB

I wouldn’t trust anything on social media that doesn’t come from one of the connections.

You make a very good point. We have to wait and see and hope he comes back home. Love and Hugs, JB

Nijinsky did fantastically well in England. He is the last English Triple Crown winner, Canadian born and US owned. He later retired to Kentucky where he sired among others the KD winner, Ferdinand. Difference from Chromie is that Nijinsky was trained in Ireland to run on turf by one of the greatest trainers of all time, Vincent O’Brien. Zenyatta’s great grand daddy, Roberto, beat the English superstar Brigadier Gerard. He was the only horse ever to do that. Roberto however had extensive experience on English turf before he took out the Brigadier while being ridden to glory by an American jockey. In short, it can be done, but the horse needs training, more than weeks or a few months.
Linda in NJ
Hi Terry
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ll tell you this, top notch place or not, I would not like my horse being trained by a someone I’m not familiar with when living thousands of miles away and having no idea what is going on with my horse.
I feel so bad for California Chrome. He is going to wonder what happened to everyone. I feel particularly hurt for Art and the entire Sherman team. My heart goes out to him. What a heck of a time (over in Dubai) to find out what the owners plans are. Talk about being blind sided.
Art said it best. He hopes this all works out for the horse.
Sad news.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
Totally agree with you and AS. This is Not in the best interest of Chromie. Love and Hugs, JB
Rosemary McCauley
Terry. I am so glad to read that there are many people who feel the way I do about the dumb ass partners decisions with California Chrome. Martin seems to be making ALL decisions and Coburn doesn’t seem to disagree with him ever. Coburn announced after the World Cup that CC would be coming home to run in his own country. Then Martin called the Sacramento Bee that they would be going to ENGLAND. Stand up Coburn! Martin is a numbers man and he thinks he’s a genius. Maybe so but he’s a genius with no heart no compassion whatsoever. Horses are not computers or adding machines. You can’t push a button and turn them off and on. They have emotional and physical needs. Art was against it but due ass partner Martin thinks he knows it all. CC has lost the last five races. Now he’s being set up to end his career with seven straight losses. He’s scheduled for may at Newmarket and June at royal ascot. Not exactly good record for a stallion hopeful. If he’s going to hire a trainer then listen to the expert’s advice!! These dumb ass heartless partners need to to take a lesson from REAL owners whose names I won’t insult by using in the same sentence as dumb ass partners.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Ditto from me. Nobody is questioning the quality of care he will receive in Newmarket but rather the unfairness of severing all of the relationships that have been so important to this horse and his trainer. How anyone expects Chrome to just suck it up and “adapt” is beyond me.

Not sure why the latitude of England would be a factor if he ships now. It’s spring and still very close to the vernal equinox. The days will be about the same length in England as they would be in California. By June they’ll be longer than what they’d be in SoCal, but it won’t be an abrupt change. He’ll have plenty of time to get used to the longer day, if it would even matter to him at all.
Max
Agree with TC. I’ve been there, done that. On the whole, I’d rather be in Philadelphia. There is a huge difference between England and California just in terms of weather. Nearly everyday it’s reaching for the umbrellas. It can be pretty damp and cold well into summer, and it is not a Cali summer. All this can affect a horse who is used to sunny California. Training methods are vastly different too. Don’t think any dirt racer or KD winner has ever won at Ascot. Omaha came close. Zenny’s great grand daddy, Roberto, won the English Derby, the second leg of the Triple Crown, but he was trained on turf for longer than six weeks by Vincent O’Brien.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
The cooler weather is, if anything, an advantage. Horses are cold-weather animals. He’s likely to be more comfortable than he would be on a summer day in LA.
Max
If a horse likes next to no sun, non stop rain and damp that seeps into your bones, it’s perfect.
Sharyn
Wonderful – nice work Team Z!!

Galileo was an excellent racer on turf, but he could not win on dirt. In his last race, he finished 6th to Tiznow. He then retired. The only horse in recent history who could run on any surface and set records is Secretariat.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
This trailer is great news for the Tbred charities, so happy that Zenny and Team can do so much for less fortunate horses…..she is truly a humanitarian for her breed. Looks like a real Cadillac of a vehicle for them to ride in……yippee. Kisses to Zenny and Team Z.

What a gift the Zenyatta team and fans have given. Great looking trailer.
Bloodhorse.com has an article with a slide show of the Florida Derby. You can see where your horse was in each phase of the race. Johnny V only showed the whip to Materality doesn’t look as if he even hit him once!

No one even bothers to show the whip to the Beast. The jockeys instead have to concentrate on hanging on for dear life. It’s a long drop from the Beast’s back to the track. Javier’s returning to partner with the Beast in the Carter. Roll on, Beastie.

Robin LOVES Zenyatta
Totally agree with Terry and all of the comments regarding Chrome and his so-called caring owners. Someone over on DRF mentioned how stellar Jerry and Ann Moss are as owners, and what a good outcome they shaped for our Queen by keeping her with the same team and the same wonderful care. This is downright cruel to send him to a place where he knows none of the caretakers and will be running in the opposite direction on very different turf. This has disaster written all over it for a very willing horse with a lot of heart. I really hope Chrome does not end up being an insurance claim like some amazing thoroughbreds in the past. And Art Sherman deserves so much more.
Isn’t it ridiculous the way humans continually mess things up with amazing animals?
Linda in NJ
It’s amazing how humans mess things up when they have such a good thing going for themselves.
From the articles I have read today, it appears that Art doesn’t think California Chrome will ever return to his barn. That’s what he meant when he said “I feel like I’ve lost a friend.”
I could just break down crying, I feel so hurt for Art and the rest of Art’s team. What a shock that must have been to all of them.
TIZGOOD
Max
I don’t recall Tiznow running in or winning the Epsom or Irish Derby
As Galileo did. That English Turf is a real challenge and Tiznow does
Not have a turf pedigree.
Max
Tiznow won the Breeders Cup Classic. Galileo finished 6th.
Denise in St. Louis
Truly amazing!!! What a great way to help the retired racehorses !!! I am so happy they have a safe new trailer for the horses and I am so happy to support such a great idea!!!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy.I am not getting into the argument whether CC should or should not come over to RA.He is an American horse, after all,but one thing I can say for sure is he will be well cared for over here in Newmarket by a horse-loving family.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
There is no doubt that the care CC will receive in England will be top notch. Just think a lot of us feel that, as his trainer said, he has nothing to prove and he deserves some R & R.
Not convinced that his owner(s) are doing what’s best for him. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Agree with Judy. No one would say anything negative against the goodwill of Rae Guest and the quality of care that his yard would provide. That yard was once owned by Henry Cecil before he left for Warren Place. The issue for his fans is that Chromie will be far far away from home and his peeps while being trained on a foreign surface by strangers. Heard that even the groom will not go. Probably there is no question that this change is going to make things difficult for Chromie. When Nijinsky left Canada for Ireland, he refused to eat any non Canadian or American food. Chromie might well be the same. Horses tend to like their own familiar routines. We are all worried for Chromie. He is a much loved horse.
Ann NC
Agree with all of the Z fans here. Thank you.
Will Chrome ever set foot back in the USA?
Hope someone will still play the hat game with him? Very important and hope all of Chrome’s little quirks have been shared with new keepers.
Well, in the meantime, check out those fillies and the beautiful countryside, Chrome.
Stay happy, Chrome!!

The trailer is just great! Thank you for the updates.
As for Chrome, I’m not happy either BUT if he has to go someplace, the cradle of the Thoroughbred has got to be the best.
I’m sure they will take terrific care of him.
But, I wish they’d just let him stay in the US.
Well I just hope he will be ok. He’s a wonderful horse, somebody used the term “gallant” the other day. Let’s hope he runs well but mostly, stays healthy.
I feel bad for Art Sherman.
