Alys sent over new conformation shots of Ziconic, now two months into yearling prep at Lane’s End. Also below, Todd Claunch captured a special moment between Ziconic and his feline buddy Linda.
Dear Sheena
Thank-you for the images remembering W1! yesterday.I put a candle out on my porch when it got dark last night.
This morning I watched the osprey nest on livestream .Deri was very chatty, calling and calling, I love her sounds..She would almost drop off to sleep and when her head would nod-up it would pop and she would scout the skies. My dog Tully heard her sounds and came into my office. I lifted the computer onto the floor and we both watched Deri.Then-an adult osprey landed (wonder what Moms name is?) and delivered a fish .Deri was on her feet and so excited.Watching her eat protecting the fish and looking into the skies to stay safe was so cool. Now she is standing at the edge of her nest, quiet and satisfied .Tully and I are going for a walk now, really enjoyed the morning visit with Deri.
AJ, Thanks for the posting on both Coz and Taco. They are both beautiful horses. Glad I am not in John and Kiranan’s shoes with the world world watching over your shoulder as you work with these two. Also, I am sure Jerry, Ann and Barbara are monitoring all the time. So glad they are taking their time with each of them. It does seem that Coz is further along in his training than Jess’s Dream.
Thanks, AJ and MaryP for this video.
Two wild and crazy guys! How exciting.
Coz definitely has a one up when it comes to the click, click, click of cameras. He knows that familiar sound.
Love them both so much!
I get so excited thinking about his progress but I know I can’t get too ahead of myself. Coz seems to be so full of curiosity and energy like his mom. John and his team are blessed to see him every day…it’s wonderful to feel the excitement in John’s voice when he speaks of him.
Dear Debbie. So glad you enjoyed your time viewing Deri earlier, her mum Glesni went AWOL today for about 6hrs and Deri got quite distressed, she kept on calling her and got quite annoyed with her father and brother.Glesni is,of course, preparing for her migration maybe this weekend and the young ones will be left in the capable hands of their dad until September. You sound as if you live in a beautiful part of the world and I’m sure you love your walks with Tully.Love and hugs Sheena.

Dear Max.Yes,Glesni is preparing for her migration.Monty keeps her well-supplied with fish.I should imagine she’ll be gone by the weekend,we are having a lot of rain tonight she must feel the urge to head for Africa.Might be a good idea if we all followed Moose’s way of thinking! That’s great about WD!

Dear Max.The ospreys usually head for Senegal on the West Coast. It’s nerve-wracking this time of year seeing them leave especially the youngsters, they will only be 3 months old.I don’t think my dad got over Nijinsky losing the Arc!!It’s not one of my favourite races, can be very rough. You’ll need to have a deck warming party when it’s finally finished.
Seville has thought of taking action against Peep#2 but knows which side his bread is buttered!Dave’s on holidays in Portugal, having trouble with Baroness Varsi who’s a muslim. The Moose’s way of life is best.Stand still and do nothing!Niss4Senate.Sheena.
Sheena. Alas, it was awful that Nijinsky lost the Arc. It’s still hard to take. I understand how you father felt. I’m sure that Peggy isn’t happy either about what happened to Orfevre – twice.
Saw photos today of Dave and SamCam in a fish shop in Portugal on vacation trying to appear ordinary, but not really succeeding. Disgruntled types often take the opportunity of such absence to spring these little surprises. Dave may come out of it as the winner. Not always wise to toss in the towel. Churchill’s father, Lord Randolph, a potential PM, resigned from Cabinet and was never heard from politically again.
If Glesni’s heading to Senegal, she can speak French. When is she coming back? After seeing the video of her home in Wales, I would stay there. It’s osprey heaven.
Free the Moose!
Yeah, probably want ever get over Orfevre’s loss.
Max, thought about you too in learning of the loss of Delta Princess. Just keep thinking about our Tasty. Rest in Peace beautiful girls
Max
Peggy. Definitely heartbreaking about both of these lovely mares. I still have not gotten over the loss of our Tasty, and probably never will. You just adjust in order to get by or live with it, but something like this always brings back the pain of the first time that you learned of any loss. Leaves an empty space that does not close. Tasty, never forgotten. Big D too.
Just got back from the farm. It was extremely hot today, but Deb and Hudson had their lesson. Hudson is doing really well; she and Deb are working as a team and Hudson is changing leads beautifully. I will link some photos below. Also, have new photos of Diamond. She is just gorgeous.
Seems there is never a dull moment at the farm. There are turkeys and chickens that roam free in the barn area and around the farm. One turkey had 14 chicks that hatched a couple of weeks ago in the woods that border one of the paddocks. Angela gave most of them away and kept two. Another turkey had a nest in the woods on the other side of the paddock, but those eggs did not hatch. She continued, however, to sit on the nest. Yesterday, all hell broke loose. One of the boarders, Chris, screamed as she saw this turkey running from the woods into the paddock followed by two coyotes. Angela heard her, went into the house got a gun; then jumped on her ATV and headed into the paddock. The horses never flinched; just watched the whole thing unfold. The coyotes gave up and ran back into the woods when they saw Angela. Angela looked everywhere for the poor turkey and found her hiding near a tree in her nearest neighbors yard. The poor thing was gasping for breath, exhausted. She’s fine now and everything ended well, thank God. It must have been a sight to see.
Had a nice visit with Charlie. He was in his stall early because of the awful heat. He enjoyed his treats and I gave him a lot of hugs. Hudson was really hot and tired when she came in. Deb cool walked her and then she enjoyed her carrots and mints. She allowed me to kiss her on the nose. Love and Hugs, JB
Doesn’t he! He has a quirky personality like Moosie too. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. These guys are smart. Cannot believe how much he looks like the Moosester.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Charlie and the Moose are definitely related in spirit. Today he was chowing down on his grain and then he would come over and take a carrot from my hand, depositing some grain in my palm. Then, back to the feed bucket and back for a carrot. He’s such a character. I love him so. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy, Judy Judy! Indeed there is never a dull moment there!! I am happy to hear all went well with the coyotes as a threat as “Anne Oakley” came to the rescue.
Hudson looked super out working and then of course Charlie is so handsome! I could not see the other pic too clearly but thank you for these photos. Isn’t it great to give hugs to a special Charlie!! I am happy for you.
I am glad to be back once again. I feel so divided into so many places and chores that I begin to relax and can take a deep breath when I come here.
Look forward to your posts. Yes, Annie Oakley suits Angela just fine. Had no idea she owned a gun. If the poor turkey wasn’t so frightened and stressed, the whole scene could have been something out of the “Road Runner” cartoons. I can envision the horses just standing in the paddock and watching as the turkey, running for her life, with the coyotes in pursuit and Angela in her ATV hot on their heels. Love and Hugs, JB
KathyR
Dear Judy:
Oh my, you certainly have all the action at your place! I’ve only got lots and lots of parrots, and other birds to deal with! Many thanks for the photos, and Charlie has a lovely kind face. Hugs, KathyR.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
He’s a handsome devil. He has very kind eyes. Can’t wait for another update on “Little Thurzel”. You know, I think she may be a little taller than Charlie; he’s 17 hands. Would love to see more photos of her when you have a chance to post them. Love and Hugs, JB
Just gorgeous pictures. Wow, what a time at the farm. I would just love all the animals. Well, except the coyotes. But, guess they have their place too. Just don’t bother the horses.
Thanks so much for the pictures. Loved them
Judy B,
You had quite an adventurous day out there, sounds like fun to me, I need some excitement in my life every now and then too……keeps you on your toes doesn’t it!! Love the pic of Charlies head he has such of beautiful face, just makes you want to plant one on that nose, ha, ha. love and hugs sue
Can’t get over the things that happen on the farm. Always something. Visiting the horses is the best part of my week. I “plant one” on the nose every chance I get. Love and Hugs, JB
Yes, she is. I am so thrilled because Jackie was planning on selling Diamond once she is weaned. I wondered how she was going to be able to part with her. She told me today, she is keeping her; quote, “I can’t part with her”. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. This is marvellous. A little Tasty! You must tell Jackie that Diamond will not lack for fans. She’s already got admirers.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Yes, I will tell her. We can call Diamond “Little TT” in remembrance of Tasty. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
So glad she’s keeping her. Going to be a pretty gray
Judy B,,
What a shock to see Diamond graying out. I must have missed some pics along the way, she was definitely a chestnut when I saw her last. Great pics, though, you must have quite a scrapbook by now!! Love and hugs Sue
The photos I posted before these showed her graying out just a little in small patches. So I knew she was changing color, but in these new photos, she’s a beautiful Gray. Yes, Jackie’s been great in sending me new photos regularly. Love and Hugs, JB
Wow, JB, what a story. Tell, Calamity Jane, way to go!!! Love, Angela.
All horses looking great. Diamond has stolen my heart. She looks like a red/strawberry roan? Watch out, Katie and I are bringing the trailer up NOW! Precious girl.
Thanks for sharing the farm antics…..never a dull moment.
Just the other day, we found a kitten sleeping on the back of Mr. ROOSTER.
That’s a good description of Diamond’s coat color. Jackie says she has a great personality too. Angela never fails to amaze me. Wow, sounds like you have your own little menagerie there. I’ve wanted to take “Pookie” home too. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Sheena
Awwww- Deri was missing her Mom. .As Tully and I were watching I didn’t have a clue why she was calling or for how long .Tully probably knew.. Glad Deri and her bro will be taken care of by Monty, the fisherman.( hope I got that right?). when Glesni migrates to Africa. Clearly I have a lot to learn, look forward to learning more. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck to Taghrooda on the 21st!
Yes,it is beautiful here, I love nature so getting out into country and wilderness is a treat when I can. I do loooove my walks with Tully and my time with Mr.Ash.
Dear Judy.Gorgeous pics of the horses. As Max said Diamond is a grey!!!So glad you had a great time there despite the heat,it’s turned wet here and we are expecting the tail-end of tropical storm Bertha later this week.I posted some photos of Will,Kate and Harry visiting the Tower of London to see the poppy display. It’s on the previous page.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Cap Hercules and all the Sweeties.Gosh those poor turkeys!Love and hugs Sheena.
Glad you liked the photos. I sent you some photos of London taken last night from the Daily Mail. Yes, Diamond is going to be a Gray. Hope the storm is a mild one and moves through quickly. I know, the poor turkey was scared out of her wits. I’ve nicknamed Angela Calamity Jane. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc and all the Sweeties
Dear Max.Glesni will return, hopefully, next April, she’d better come earlier next year in case Blue 24 will take over the nest again.I’m watching news about weather in the US,between wildfires and flashfloods also mudslides we don’t have much to complain about in the UK.I think Baroness Varsi has made a big mistake myself.Dave will soon get over it.Free the Moose!Niss4Senate.Sheena.
Dear Judy B
Thanks for all the news from the farm. That turkey had a terrible fright, glad he is OK.
I just love the photos, the horses are all gorgeoius and it is nice to know who they are when you mention them-enjoy your posts.
Ziconic looks so strong and what hindquarters!! Mama Z? Thank you for the update of pictures of Zi and it is cute he likes a friend Linda!! Sally B
Zenyatta, You must be so proud when Ann has shown you pictures of your colts.
And they should know some how, some way what a perfect most beautiful greatest race horse mom they have!! Love your family Z!!
lovenkisses on your soft nose, and to Coz, Zi and sweetie Z princess
Auntie Sally B
My misunderstanding,of course the osprey family will stay together. It is hard to understand how those chicks can make such a long trip.Wishing Glesni,Monty and their babies a safe trip when they decide it is time.
Judy B.,,,Charlie is such a character and so sweet-reminds me of Ash. I don’t own Ash but take him out several times a week and love him very much.
Glad Jackie is keeping “Little Tasty”-,remembering Tasty always.
.
Went out to visit little Thurzel this morning: she was sitting down on the side of the hill in the sun with her new brown friend, looking very fetching in her dark blue winter rug with red piping. She’s still not quite sure of me – thinks I’m probably another annoying person who will take her to the racetrack and put a jockey on top – but I’m talking her out of that idea. I’d taken carrots, but being a racehorse fresh from the track, she’s not used to them. But her mate thinks I’m just the best for bringing such nice treats, and Thurzel is watching and learning – today she sniffed a carrot, but went back to the grass – but I think she’s getting the idea. I’m not forcing myself on her with regards to petting – but today she came up closer, and was happy to have her mane and forelock straightened, and her blaze smoothed. I keep telling her we have the rest of our lives to get to know each other, so no rush. Tried to take some pics, but the brown mate caused a problem by bumping my side to see if I had more carrots in my pocket, so next time! Hugs, KathyR
You are doing everything right. Taking things slow is the best way. She will get acclimated and more and more comfortable in her new surroundings and she will bond with you. Try those Stud Muffins I mentioned; I bet she’ll love them. They are made of oats, molasses, barley, corn, wheat bran and flax seed. I’ve linked another Equine Supply Website that sells them at a reasonable price.
Dear KathyR.Thurzel has a wonderful life ahead of her with you.It will take time for her to realise she will not have to visit the dreaded racecourse again bless her!I forgot to mention I well remember Grey Swallow, he was bred by Dermot’s mother and one of his greatest victories was beating Epsom Derby winner North Light in the Irish version.I’m so glad he’s got a forever home now.Love and hugs Sheena.
Nature is positive. When one part of it drops away and returns to the great continuum of life, new shoots, new sprouts of life stand nearby to complete the purpose. One season moves on so that another can take its place-but is no more and no less important than the one before. It is inherent in nature to be positive-as it was in the beginning for human nature. But human nature was given the option of choosing good or bad. It chose to disobey, and now we know fear and anxiety. A Cherokee expression, u so nv-i ya dv ne di, calls this a wrong act, a misdeed, that brought about a longstanding situation that has to be dealt with more than we would like. But we have a choice as well, and we must consider who is standing alongside to be the new sprout to complete the purpose.
Great Spirit…To the center of the world you have taken me and showed me the goodness and the beauty and the strangeness of the greening earth…you have shown me, and I have seen.
Black Elk
Dear Kathy.Yes,so many humans make the wrong choices and we never seem to learn by our mistakes.Poor Joey ,he’s a senior citizen.I pray his check-up goes well next week. You must have seen the story of Lady and her fairy-tale ending. To think she walked 30miles back home and they still returned her to the shelter! How cruel is that.I can’t say here what I’d like to do to them!!!Lady had the last laugh,a home with a millionairess!!!Fubu is in another contest I can’t vote I’m not on FB,hope he does well.No updates about Dolly yet.Zoe looked so cute in her video she is just the sweetest little dog,who could not feel better after seeing her.Boo and Buddy are in New York again, such a great life.Deri and Gwynant were having lunch when I looked in and he wasn’t sharing!no signs of Glesni she usually feeds them they will have to learn to live without her soon.Have a great day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
I can relate to Joey’s feelings! Becoming senior citizens sneaks up on the best of us! One day you’re one of the “kids,” before you know it you’re one of the old generation. I’m so thrilled for Lady. She got the last laugh, indeed! Would that all animals got such a happy ending! Yes, I saw that Fubu is in another contest and have started voting for that. Fingers crossed that Dolly is safe. Zoe is just precious and her mommy seems like such a nice and genuine woman. Bless them. Boo and Buddy are looking great in the Big Apple. Such rock stars! Poor Deri and Gwynant. Birds in the wild have to grow up SO FAST. You have a great day, too. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
Dear Sheena
I am confused. When you say the chicks will have to learn to live without their mom soon ,what do you mean?.Can you explain who migrates to Africa and if they travel separately or in a group.
Dear KathyR
Loved your description of Thurzel on the hill with her mate. She is so lucky to have you-your gentle approach is so kind and will help her to trust. When she came closer that must have been magic..
Max

Dear Max
Yeah, probably want ever get over Orfevre’s loss.
Max, thought about you too in learning of the loss of Delta Princess. Just keep thinking about our Tasty. Rest in Peace beautiful girls
Max
Peggy. Definitely heartbreaking about both of these lovely mares. I still have not gotten over the loss of our Tasty, and probably never will. You just adjust in order to get by or live with it, but something like this always brings back the pain of the first time that you learned of any loss. Leaves an empty space that does not close. Tasty, never forgotten. Big D too.

Dear Z Fans:

JudyB. Charlie looks more and more like Moosie.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
I feel so divided into so many places and chores that I begin to relax and can take a deep breath when I come here.
love n hugs, Sally B
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sally B:

Dear Sue Fredrick:
The photos I posted before these showed her graying out just a little in small patches. So I knew she was changing color, but in these new photos, she’s a beautiful Gray. Yes, Jackie’s been great in sending me new photos regularly. Love and Hugs, JB

My misunderstanding,of course the osprey family will stay together. It is hard to understand how those chicks can make such a long trip.Wishing Glesni,Monty and their babies a safe trip when they decide it is time.

KathyR
Dear Zenyatta family:
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
You are doing everything right. Taking things slow is the best way. She will get acclimated and more and more comfortable in her new surroundings and she will bond with you. Try those Stud Muffins I mentioned; I bet she’ll love them. They are made of oats, molasses, barley, corn, wheat bran and flax seed. I’ve linked another Equine Supply Website that sells them at a reasonable price.

Can’t wait to see more photos of Thurzel. The little Brown one sounds like a Sweetie too. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear KathyR.Thurzel has a wonderful life ahead of her with you.It will take time for her to realise she will not have to visit the dreaded racecourse again bless her!I forgot to mention I well remember Grey Swallow, he was bred by Dermot’s mother and one of his greatest victories was beating Epsom Derby winner North Light in the Irish version.I’m so glad he’s got a forever home now.Love and hugs Sheena.

August 6 Cherokee Devotional

Kathy R- give your new love a MWAH!
Congrats and Happy Trails!
KathyR
Dear Ann NC:
Will do that for you – and thanks from the two of us. Hugs, KathyR.
PS: How are Moose and Goose?
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I can relate to Joey’s feelings!

I loved it when you told Thurzel you have the rest of your lives to get to know eachoher. So happy for you both.
