Dear Max
I am with you-watching Zenyatta come from the very back in her 2010 BC race to be within a nose, she is a winner in my books too .She taught us what true grit, determination and never giving up is all about in all her races, ,ESPECIALLY in that one. You laugh at my kitchen attitude, but it’s well founded. Went to the fridge this afternoon to get out cold compress for neck nerve issue. Water on the floor! Peeps off work. Had to call in plumber. Something to do with a broken or loose pipe unconnected to fridge. Had to pay double or triple overtime, not sure which, but it is likely to be big bucks. Sunday afternoon more or less wrecked. Dear Sheena, Max and Judy:
Australia sent 160,000 horses to the Great War: only 1 came home. The majority were shot by their soldier masters to avoid them being mistreated if they were sold in Egypt. And the quarantine regulations at the time meant they could not return home. There is a memorial to the Light Horse in Sydney that has the words in part: “They suffered wounds, thirst, hunger and weariness almost beyond endurance, but they never failed. They did not come home”. Just another horror of that conflict.
Just love the way the British are honouring this anniversary. Hugs, KathyR
