Alys sent over new conformation shots of Ziconic, now two months into yearling prep at Lane’s End. Also below, Todd Claunch captured a special moment between Ziconic and his feline buddy Linda.

It is not easy to forget the hours we spent as children along some sparkling stream-and there were more sparkling streams then. It is not hard to remember every sound that carried up the creek, how the fishing was, and how it tasted fresh from the water and cooked in an old tin skillet over an open fire. There were a tsi nv s gi, violet flowers, blooming in clusters along the banks-and poison ivy we had to avoid-and didn’t always. A cardinal sang a fishing song and the sound of oars dipped in warm water with a soft splish-splash. Bugs, like people on water-skis, slipped over the surface of water. And as we passed, tsisdvna, crawfish backed into holes in the mud. Every moment was a thing of joy and knocks softly on our minds today when the need for solitude is there.
What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night…the breath of a buffalo in the winter time…a little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

I work today so I don’t want to miss saying hello. Enjoy the day and the entire weekend. All is well with the FB furbabies. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
Tapit’s foals all seem to start out with a big rump and a swayback. Then they mature and look very good. Ziconic seems to have reached that turning point and is now a very handsome horse. He seems to interact well with people (and cats), as he always seems at ease with whatever person he’s with. He’s so mature that it’s easy to forget how young he still is. Such a promising colt! I would love to see him on the track soon.
Have missed being here with my Zenny friends. I think I’ve read everything but am just too far behind to post all of the comments I would like to make. My “baby sis” and her husband have been here all week for a combined “help out Sandy” and the celebration of her 50th high school reunion. My garage is so clean it can hardly get over itself, and many other dents have been made in the ever-present “to do” list. We even made it to an Indians’ game so I got to show off the “new” (1994) ball field (we both grew up in the era of the old stadium), and we had a great team renewing memories of our favorites who have plaques in the “heritage” section of the stadium.
Thanks to Alys, Todd, Team Z and everyone at Lane’s End for the gorgeous photos of Ziconic and for the wonderful care they give to Zenny and her kids (and also to us). He is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m sure that big things are in store for him.
Fellow ‘cappers – is this a “horse race” or what???? Holy Moly – so many good ones in the Whitney. NOTE that NBC will be showing this race and The Test LIVE from 5:00 to 6:00 today. Unfortunately, I will be “on the road” transporting the reunion folks to tonight’s event, but I’ve already got the DVR set. Just hoping the weather holds as even the slightest rain seems to knock out my satellite dish (grrrrrrrrrrr!).
Oh boy! The revenge of the sister cleaning machine? Wheeee! Sweetie, I KNOW I owe you a long email. But first – thank you for the birthday phone message and card. Can’t wait to hug you in person.

Spare some time to offer up prayers for two infected US aid workers and all others who are suffering from the ebola crisis. This is one of the worst of the known pathogens. Hoping that the pioneer work of US and Canadian scientists will soon result in approval of a vaccine for treatment.

Dear Max.This outbreak of the ebola virus in Africa should be of concern to the whole world. The NHS seems prepared if we have any cases over here in the UK.We live in a global village now with so many peeps travelling who knows how far it could spread.I’m sure you recall the black death over in Europe in the middle ages.Very scary.Prayers for all involved especially the hard working volunteers and nursing staff.Hugs Sheena.
Sheena. Fortunately, so far, this pathogen is only highly infectious and not contagious like smallpox. That is why the stats are low. Have been watching the CNN arrival of Dr. Brantley in Atlanta. It looks like he actually walked into Emory under his own steam. A very good sign. Prayers for this guy, the lady and all others. Prayers too for all of the health care workers in Atlanta and overseas.
Joining in with prayers – those aid workers could not be at a more outstanding research facility to help them with this dreadful pathogen, so prayers too for the research teams. Hugs KathyR
Ziconic is one handsome young boy! I, too, thought he was “high in the rear” from day one, but that is a good thing in horses, not in dogs!! A conformation question: As I know and understand dog confirmation, I am wondering if Ziconic has weak front pasterns, or are they supposed to slope that much? Is it a maturity thing? Those pasterns on a dog would be a major fault.
On a happy note. I just found out that I will be getting a new pup in November. The mama’s pregnancy was confirmed yesterday, a large litter from which I get pick female! I recently found out that my Brook has some problems and cannot get pregnant so my bloodline has come to an abrupt hault. I am heartbroken about the yearsI have put in, but decided to start over with the BEST bloodlines out there in the vizsla breed. And my pup will have the best lines, going back many many years, to when the breed first came to this country. I am so excited!

Trying to catch up. Turned out I had a few more problems from my concussion than just a bump and headache. Couldn’t drive, read or focus not to mention the nausea. At my age falling out of bed and hitting my head on the corner of the desk has serious consequences. Especially since this is like the umpteenth time I’ve done it. Prayers for the Ebola victims. Just the thought scares me to death. What heroes the caregivers. I’m not sure I’d be that brave. Prayers for all the innocent victims in Israel and Gaza. With all that happening the photos of Ziconic are amazing. He looks a little gangly just like his brother did at that age. That face is perfection though. Take care everyone. (New pup Jackey ate the tv remote and prefers garbage to his food. He keeps trying to make friends with Cotton but she just gets up out of reach and taunts him.)
Vicki. Sorry to hear this. You can get hospital bed guards for your own bed that will prevent falling out. Also makes getting in and out of bed easier. Medical supply stores sell them. Jake sounds like he’s settling in. Cotton, like your style.
