Peggy. Agree with you. Terrible illness took him. He was a brilliant comedian and actor. Loved his work especially The Dead Poets Society. Always remember – carpe diem. RIP Robin.

So glad we have a few more works from him to watch. Even though, it will be hard to see with him gone.
Peggy, You are so right. It is a sad thing to lose someone with Robin’s talent. I remember him first in Mork and Mindy. Hopefully, something good will come of this tragedy and depression will be recognized as an illness and better treatment can be found. So many fight this illness everyday and some lose the battle.
There is lots of treatment out there for depression. It’s very difficult however to find just the right combination of drugs and cognitive therapy to conquer the illness. It is a daily lonely struggle for the afflicted. Churchill had it and called it the black dog, who relentlessly stalked him. He knew better than to stand near the rail tracks at train stations because of the urge to jump and end it all. It is the pain of this illness that saps the will and spirit. Many many people suffer from this, and often suffer in silence. The Important thing is to avoid stigmatizing people who are seriously ill. They are not weak or flawed. This illness strikes even the best and brightest among us. There but for the grace of God goes each one of us. RIP Robin Williams.

Dear Judy B., Peggy, Max, Sally B., Sheena, Kathy R. and Janet,
I agree with your comments about Robin Williams. Incredibly sad — our world is a much darker place today. Depression is an awful thing. At times, outwardly all smiles and laughter while inwardly there is such intense desperation and sadness.
Thanks for the smiles and for all your good works, Robin. RIP
I couldn’t hardly believe it. Just so many leaving us. He survived Heart surgery and then this got him. So horrific
Couldn’t even say which of his works I liked the best. There were just so many.
Its just so sad no one could help him.
I loved all of Robin Williams’ work too; the comedic and the dramatic roles. He was great at Stand Up as well. There are some really funny clips on You Tube of his appearances on Johnny Carson, Letterman and Craig Ferguson’s Show. He was truly a genius and one of a kind.
His death brought back memories of Freddie Prinz, Sr.. Do you remember him? He was another one of my favorite comedians. He was only 22 and had a hit sitcom on TV, Chico and the Man, when he committed suicide. He left behind his wife and son, actor Freddie Prinz, Jr., who was a baby at the time. He suffered from depression too. Some comics I think hide behind the humor to deal with the sadness they feel. Terrible disease; thought to be hereditary too, in some cases. Very, very sad. Love and Hugs, JB

I do remember Freddy Prinz, Jr. that was so sad too.He was so young. I am going to watch the you tube video’s. I did not see the one of Robin on one of the last Johnny Carson show’s. Overseas Horses Start Arriving for Million Day
HorseRacingNation.com August 10, 2014
Eight European contestants for the International Festival of Racing at Arlington International Racecourse have arrived on the grounds and are currently in quarantine with an expected release on Tuesday. Arriving first via an Air France flight at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday was the French contingent of the Niarchos Family’s Smoking Sun and Augustin Stable’s Sparking Beam. Smoking Sun is pointing toward the Grade I Arlington Million and expected to be one of the favorites, while Sparkling Beam is a slight outsider aimed toward the Grade I Beverly D.
Arriving via a Qatar Airlines flight at 5:00 a.m. was the English shipment. Team Valor International’s sophomore Euro Charline and Qatar Racing’s Just the Judge – both expected for the Beverly D. – joined a third filly in Listed $400,000 American St. Leger contestant Moment in Time. Three older horses, including Mick and Janice Mariscotti’s Havana Beat, Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock’s Dandino and Pearl Bloodstock’s Side Glance, were also on the flight. Havana Beat and defending champion Dandino are expected to join Moment in Time in the American St. Leger, while Side Glance will have a second consecutive go in the Million.
The final flight – from Ireland – is expected to arrive late Tuesday evening and contain the Ballydoyle-based Coolmore contingent of trainer Aiden O’Brien. Eye of The Storm, Belisarius, Adelaide and Million favorite Magician are expected on such. http://www.horseracingnation.com/news/Overseas_Horses_Start_Arriving_for_Million_Day_123#

This really hit the mark for me today Kathy. Have just spent a week with a dear friend whom I met the first day of graduate school 40 YEARS AGO this month. She has gone on to do so many amazing things. She is a Sister of Providence from the state of Washington and has been active in health care (she chaired the Board of Directors of an entire health system) and now heads up the international order of Sisters of Providence (which means that she’s living in Montreal for 5 years – not good for her zillions of friends but great for her community). Anyway, even though I haven’t seen her for four years, it was like we had been together just yesterday. Always very hard when she leaves but as this says . . . we “find each other” again and again when possible. Thanks!
I went with Dr. Fager. Out of 22 starts he had 18 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third. He was voted Eclipse Champion Sprinter twice, in 1967 and 1968. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Judy, I almost went with him, but ended up voting for Forgo. Both were magnificent and equally deserving of the honor.
Dear Kathy. That’s exactly the kind of friendship I have discovered here on the blog.I wonder if Zenyatta knows how she has brought us all together. Many tributes paid to Robin Williams over here,a tortured genius.I pray he has found peace now.
Wow,Boo reached his 15million!!!Ollie J is back, such cruel remarks left on his FB.A beautiful story about Joanie the pitbull and her friend strays in Georgia and now to be re-homed together in Florida.Joanie was carrying the little one because he was ill.Reminds me of the song”he ain’t heavy,he’s my brother”So happy it’s ended well for them.Marty had a huge starberry, loved him saying a cupcake would help your sad!!I saw the video of Tom and his daughter on the rollercoaster but they seem to have removed it since the accident in Maryland.Poor Sophia was clinging on to her dad.Hope Joey’s check-up goes well. Now I’ve been able to access the live-streaming at the Dyfi, the high winds maybe.Deri was tucking into her lunch. No news of Glesni departing yet.Hope you have a great day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Forget Africa. Glesni, stay in the Dyfi. You’re a star there. Comparatively speaking, the winters aren’t so bad. Sheena might send you some care fish parcels. You can always board with Moosie if it gets too cold.
What an irony that Robin Williams, who was a genius in the field of comedy, should be in such despair as to take his own life. Prayers for his family and hope that others contemplating ending their lives will seek help immediately. He will be sorely missed.
I know what you mean, Zenyatta has brought together a great community here. I felt like crying when I heard about Robin Williams. So incredibly talented. So very sad he was so deep in the throngs of depression and hopelessness. RIP Robin. That’s great Boo has reached his 15M. Of course a lot of the credit goes to Buddy, as well. They make a GREAT team! So glad that Ollie J is back. He wins, not the trolls! Great news about Joanie the pitbull and her friend. Very best wishes for them in their new life! Loved the pic of Marty eating the cat cupcake! Too funny! I missed the video of Tom and his daughter on the roller coaster. Darn! Fingers crossed that Joey has a good checkup. Best wishes for our little osprey family. Keep them safe, Lord! Have a good Tuesday. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
Depression certainly runs in my Mom’s family. RIP Robin Williams. Afternoon thunderstorms have been rather destructive. Monday lightning struck my brothers tv and satellite box. Today high winds expected. Jackie is nothing like my White Lightning when it comes to rain. He can’t wait to run into the water and slide in the wet grass. He also can’t wait to jump on you with wet paws and a dripping tail. He is so sweet. Seeing all the high priced young horses going through the sale I wonder what a buyer would pay for one of Zenny’s offspring. They are priceless!
More bad news. Bloodhorse.com just announced that Bal A Bali, a Brazilian champion who has been purchased by Fox Hill has the dreaded laminitis. He is being treated but it doesn’t sound good.
Hello everyone, such a tender day for me out of the blue.
An old friend drove up unexpectedly this morning and I hugged her like I was never going to let go.Life is so precious,so fleeting.Robin William’s death reminds us all of our mortality.I remember him in Patch Adams and now laugh therapy is in many hospitals all around the world. When he went to entertain the troops after the show he would quietly go and spend time with service men and women who could not make it -dog handlers, people on duty etc.. A picture of him and his daughter was what really made me sob.
Amid all of life’s struggles watching the ospreys last night was such a beautiful time for me.Deri and Gwynant were snuggling sooo closely, side by side, feathers blowing in the wind,no space between them.Safe in the nest. I didn’t think about what is to come, just those moments where their heads were burrowed down and they snuggled together.
Then they made me laugh.Gwynant’s head popped up and the started preening. After a time he stood up and like a pesky brother put his chest and head on Deri’s back and just lay there..Deri got up, Gwynant plopped into her space, and she did a 180 and plopped down right beside him again almost in her sleep.
We got rain today! To all of you with such love for Z and her family , it is that love for not only horses but all animals, nature and people that makes you the caring wonderful group you are. As my sister said before she died, too young,”It’s just love”.
Dear Judy B.,
Thank you for these posts/links. Serena’s Song looks lovely — she was quite a filly!
Glad that she is being taken good care of. Hugs and Love

As we mourn the passing of Robin Williams, we remember too our celestial Z-ster Kari Bussell, gone but never to be forgotten, who passed from this world February 17, 2012.
A Birthday Poem for Kari Bussell in Memorium
(August 12, 2014)
So much of Kari had cancer claimed
That little hope remained.
She much of her body did surrender
To the surgeon’s knife,
Yet her chances still were less than slender—
The doctors could not the cancer abate.
“A few months” was the prognosis,
And that brutal diagnosis
Took her will for life.
No further treatment would she try,
But would simply wait
For her time to die.
But Fate stepped in one day
As Kari lay in her hospital bed
And showed her on TV
The incomparable Z
In an early victory.
The thrill
Of seeing that Thoroughbred
Rekindled Kari’s vital will
And lit in her soul a fervent fire.
Kari’s spirit did fill
With deep desire
To see Z
Again and again in victory.
From Zenyatta,
Kari drew renewed strength
To go the extra length.
Like Z,
Kari would not give in.
She would instead begin
To honor that Thoroughbred
Who her back to life had led.
Kari’s heart and mind then bent
To fashioning video celebrations,
Inspiring creations
All meant
To give a sense
Of Zenyatta’s magnificence.
Each tribute Kari did make
Was for the sake
Of Z’s fame,
In hopes that all would honor her name.
Through the gift that she from Z received,
Kari extra years of life achieved,
And Kari in turn added a special glow
To the lives of those
Who through both her videos
And her posted prose
Were able Kari and Zenyatta to know.
Addendum:
The race in which Kari discovered Zenyatta was Zenyatta’s first Apple Blossom, April 5, 2008.
Here is a link to one of Kari’s video tributes to Zenyatta which incorporates a poetic homage to Zenyatta written by Priscilla Clark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6z_AW7Cr58
I encourage others to post their favorite videos done by Kari (AnimalsRock4Love).
Thank you for the most perfect poem for Kari and for posting two of her lovely videos of Z. The one to She is one of my very favorites. Love and Hugs, JB
Kari: I think of you so often and imagine that my beloved Jericho is by your side, as are Cloud Man, Mentor Cane, St. Nicholas Abbey and so many other blessed creatures. Love can meet and embrace you, my sweet friend. And I’m sending you love.
I still can’t believe that Robin Williams has taken his own life. He was and always will be loved. Seeing all the tributes on the news etc,. makes me weep for his family and friends and fans alike. Grew up watching Mork and Mindy. Seen almost all of his movies and can’t say which was my favorite. I think it was Mrs. Doubtfire and The Birdcage (which I have). Have the soundtrack for Good Morning Vietnam too. This is just so tragic. I don’t know who’s death I have taken worst: Michael Jackson or Robin Williams.
Trina, you’re tribute to Kari just made me weep even more.
RIP Kari and Robin! You will never be forgotten and will always have a special place in our hearts.
Dear Trina
Your poem for Kari is a lovely tribute and her beautiful video celebrations of Zenyatta are food for the soul. Kari and Zenyatta are woven together forever and these videos are priceless. Thank-you.
Dear Debbie.I’m so happy you love watching the ospreys and they gave you comfort on what was obviously an emotional day.We should always remember to hug our loved ones every day.We all seem to lead such busy lives these days but must always find the time to say ‘I love you’I’m happy to see Glesni is still on the Dyfi.Love and hugs Sheena.
Dear Judy B.
Serena’s Song is a beautiful thoroughbred, the pics in Photo of the Week are lovely. I was happy to learn about her history and see that life is good for her at 22.She looks amazing..
@Trina–we can’t think you enough for this poem. I am so sorry for newer Dumplings who came on board too late to get to know Kari.

Dear Shirlee:
I went with Dr. Fager. Out of 22 starts he had 18 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third. He was voted Eclipse Champion Sprinter twice, in 1967 and 1968. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Judy, I almost went with him, but ended up voting for Forgo. Both were magnificent and equally deserving of the honor.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Another great one for sure. Love and Hugs, JB

I voted for Black Caviar. Not a problem that they did not put her on that list. She’s the best sprinter ever. Her win at Ascot: outstanding.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Ooh! Didn’t realize you could do “write ins” for the poll.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
BC should definitely be on the list. Love and Hugs, JB

Max
Forget Africa. Glesni, stay in the Dyfi. You’re a star there. Comparatively speaking, the winters aren’t so bad. Sheena might send you some care fish parcels. You can always board with Moosie if it gets too cold.
Barbara Wood
What an irony that Robin Williams, who was a genius in the field of comedy, should be in such despair as to take his own life. Prayers for his family and hope that others contemplating ending their lives will seek help immediately. He will be sorely missed.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I know what you mean, Zenyatta has brought together a great community here.

Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Vicki:
Sounds like Jackie is a very happy little guy in his new home with his Mom. Love and Hugs, JB

Judy, Am I remembering this correctly? Her owners contributed a percentage of all her winnings to a charity?? Can’t remember which one..

Dear Judy B.,
Thank you for these posts/links. Serena’s Song looks lovely — she was quite a filly!
Glad that she is being taken good care of. Hugs and Love

Judy, she looks wonderful for 22. It just doesn’t seem that long since she was racing. Thanks for posting.

Dear Shirlee:
I’m afraid I don’t remember that. I remember she was owned by Beverly and Bob Lewis. She does look wonderful for 22. Beautiful girl. Love and Hugs, JB

As we mourn the passing of Robin Williams, we remember too our celestial Z-ster Kari Bussell, gone but never to be forgotten, who passed from this world February 17, 2012.
A Birthday Poem for Kari Bussell in Memorium
(August 12, 2014)
So much of Kari had cancer claimed
That little hope remained.
She much of her body did surrender
To the surgeon’s knife,
Yet her chances still were less than slender—
The doctors could not the cancer abate.
“A few months” was the prognosis,
And that brutal diagnosis
Took her will for life.
No further treatment would she try,
But would simply wait
For her time to die.
But Fate stepped in one day
As Kari lay in her hospital bed
And showed her on TV
The incomparable Z
In an early victory.
The thrill
Of seeing that Thoroughbred
Rekindled Kari’s vital will
And lit in her soul a fervent fire.
Kari’s spirit did fill
With deep desire
To see Z
Again and again in victory.
From Zenyatta,
Kari drew renewed strength
To go the extra length.
Like Z,
Kari would not give in.
She would instead begin
To honor that Thoroughbred
Who her back to life had led.
Kari’s heart and mind then bent
To fashioning video celebrations,
Inspiring creations
All meant
To give a sense
Of Zenyatta’s magnificence.
Each tribute Kari did make
Was for the sake
Of Z’s fame,
In hopes that all would honor her name.
Through the gift that she from Z received,
Kari extra years of life achieved,
And Kari in turn added a special glow
To the lives of those
Who through both her videos
And her posted prose
Were able Kari and Zenyatta to know.

Addendum:
The race in which Kari discovered Zenyatta was Zenyatta’s first Apple Blossom, April 5, 2008.
Here is a link to one of Kari’s video tributes to Zenyatta which incorporates a poetic homage to Zenyatta written by Priscilla Clark.

Thank you Trina. We will always remember Kari, and her videos helped people like me see and learn so much about Zenyatta.
