Second Annual Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta After-Party Celebration to
Offer More Excitement for Fans
Tickets for After-Party In Honor of Popular Racing Star Selling Quickly
ARCADIA, Calif. (October 25, 2012) – Team Zenyatta announced this week that race-goers staying for the second annual Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta After-Party Celebration on Championship Friday, Nov. 2, would be treated to more racing celebrity appearances, special live entertainment and the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind items during a live auction honoring “The Queen.” The After-Party Celebration will be at Santa Anita Park’s Frontrunner Lounge following the day’s race card.
This official Breeders’ Cup event quickly has come to be a popular and electric gathering and this year will offer appearances by Zenyatta’s trainer, John Shirreffs, racing manager and voice of the Zenyatta Diary, Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, and jockey Mike Smith. Additionally, a cavalcade of past and present popular jockeys will be attending the After-Party on behalf of the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF), including John Velazquez, Ramon Dominquez, Joe Talamo and Javier Castellano, as well as Hall of Fame great Laffit Pincay.
“My jockey friends and I are looking forward to the After-Party, where we will highlight the critical work of the PDJF, toast the Breeders’ Cup and hang out with Zenyatta’s fans,” Smith said. “The After-Party is sure to be one of the most fun events of Breeders’ Cup weekend.”
In addition to the PDJF, the Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta After-Party Celebration also will benefit CANTER as well as other equine, children, and racing-related charities.
Zenyatta fans in attendance will also be treated to live entertainment by Liza G. and her “Zenyatta” song, and a silent auction with Zenyatta memorabilia and artwork will take place throughout the evening. A live auction will feature several premium items including a special artist proof of the “Zenyatta, Horse of our Lifetime” bronze by Nina Kaiser, the sculptor of the life-sized Zenyatta statue recently unveiled at Santa Anita, a canvas from acclaimed equine artist Jaime Corum featuring Zenyatta entitled “Breeders’ Cup Gold,” an original halter from Zenyatta’s foal, and a trip to see Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, KY.
The After-Party Celebration will be from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, allowing race-goers a relaxing environment to toast the day’s winners and gather to celebrate the past and present of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at the Frontrunner Lounge. Amenities include a California buffet, a cash bar featuring Z-cocktails, and race replays from Friday’s Breeders’ Cup program. Tickets are $50 for admission only, or $95 for admission combined with the buffet. A limited number of tickets are still available for sale at Zenyatta Shop.
As an added benefit for “The Queen’s” most loyal fans, reserved seating for the Breeders’ Cup Championship races in the specially designated Zenyatta Section is also available for $150 on Friday and $250 on Saturday. See Zenyatta Shop for sales and details.

Speaking of speed. Here is an good read on Wise Dan.
Wise Dan’s exercise rider not an easy job
By Alicia Wincze Hughes — Herald Leader
Damien Rock has the job a million riders would kill for, and that brings a wry smile to his face.
When trainer Charlie Lopresti takes out his first set in the mornings, Rock’s assignment is to be aboard Wise Dan — the same Wise Dan regarded not just as the best turf miler in the nation but one of the best handicap performers in North America.
There are, as one would expect, numerous perks that come with being the exercise rider for the current top-ranked horse in the country, not the least of which include a trip to Santa Anita Park for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships this week. Wise Dan is expected to be favored in the $2 million Mile.
But had Rock heeded the grim reports from some of his comrades last winter, he might not have ever swung his leg over the chestnut gelding, thus robbing the multiple Grade I winner of one of his best teachers.

Dear Ann
You are so right. A trainer, rider owner, etc…. must be able to unlock the
mind of a horse and really connect to make things work. And Rock sure
is able to do that for Wise Dan.
Just like Steve Willard, did it for Zenny. And of course John Sherriffs.
There was a segment that I saw with Monty Roberts and a 13 year old gelding
that had “never been spoken to by a human” in his language. Monty narrated the horses behavior and the pain the horse felt as Monty was trying to connect with him. The light finally went on for this horse and Monty was able to achieve join up. It was
a very special moment for horse, Monty and the horses owner.

Dear Z Fans:
Some much needed good news with all the terrible damage from the storm. This is an article written by Tom Keyser ( the same gentleman who wrote the articles on Papa Charlie in Times Union). It’s on Barbara Livingston’s Blog and he’s a guest writer. This is a story of a tragedy and a courageous horse named Much Rejoicing. (FYI she ran a good race in the Serena’s Cat Stakes and finished 2nd). Hugs, JB

I have not had a chance to look at the entries yet. I do love Mucho Macho Man, Shackelford, Point of Entry and Bernie’s Boys, Alpha and To Honor And Serve. I will post you my picks on Thursday as well. Though, I have to say, I am the only one on our Fantasy Capping Team who has not been right yet in my handicapping choices. Ha, ha. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear everyone: I’ve been praying all day for the storm to be not as bad as anticipated. Then a funny thing happened here in Canberra. Out of the blue, we had a huge dump of rain, plus hail right on my suburb. Flooded the entry to my front door, and sent a small stream through my backyard, and shredded my iris, which were just looking a picture. But I thought, just for a bit, that maybe it took some of the strength away from the filthy storm! Well, I like to think so. Hope you’re all safe. Hugs, KathyR.

Dear Sign: Amen to that – may the power of prayer triumph over the filthy storm. Maybe, if they have power, heartworn folk can go back to look at those wonderful photos of Zenyatta and Ann – that will power up their souls!

dear judy thank you for your message so glad you and papa charlie have made it through the storm and not too much damagehave been watching on all the news channels over here looks dreadful in parts new york looks like a ghost town heard about 16 people lost their lives poor souls it’ll take a while to clean up no doubt hope papa can go out today or he’ll be sulking again!!! lots of love and hugs God bless sheena
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Thank you for your kindness. Angela did not lose power either and there were no large trees down at the farm. She did have to clean up small tree limbs that were scattered around the paddocks. Papa Charlie happily was able to get out into the paddock today. Angela said she had all the stalls to clean out (31 horses) after they had been in for about 24 hours. She said it was horrendous. Can you imagine cleaning up after everybody. She did have a couple of people helping, thank heaven. Sadly one of the horses came down with colic, so she is treating him. All of the other horses were happy to be free once again.
Unfortunately NYC and NJ were hit directly and they have devastating property damage and power outages. Praying for all, human and animal. Hugs, JB

dear sign am sure you were glad to be far from the storm some schoolchildren from ysgol bro myrddin are out on a half term trip in new york but think they are quite safe in their hotel the breeders cup mile looks very interesting with wise dan excelebration and moonlight cloud and animal kingdom I hope it has’nt come too soon for excelebration he rran well in the QE11 bless him he saw so much of frankels backside in his racing career he deserved that win hope it goes well for all the horses hugs sheena
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club
Dear Sheena,
Hope the school children are safe. Yes the BC mile is going to very very very
competative. Each horse is going to have to run the “race of their life”. I love all of the horses that you have mentioned and you are right Excelebration has seen too much of the back side of Frankel, just foaled in the wrong year. Hopefully he will go on
to race another year. Love Wise Dan, Animal Kingdom will be very interesting, and then
Moonlight Cloud. Freddy Head really has a way with mares. Recently saw old breeders cup races and his wins on Miesque (sp), what a talented jockey and trainer.
Can hardly wait to see all of the beautiful equines in all of their splendor and so looking forward to see the Euros.

Dear Abigail,
Hope you are OK and the storm has not headed your way.
Projected path was up into Canada, in a few days, perhaps the weekend.

Abigail, Hope the storm doesn’t come your way! I just had to tell you that after Katrina, here in Pass Christian, Ms, we had a lot of Hydro electrical people from Canada down here helping us and they did a wonderful job, all the way down here in South Mississippi! I do think the heat down here was a huge shock to them, but they were so nice to all of us down here and had great personalities through it all! Of course there were electrical workers from all over the states, but we were so impressed by the Canadians! They were awesome!
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Abigail:
So wonderful the help from Canada is always forthcoming in a crisis. My Russ worked for our local power company for 45 years and every time New England was in a terrible power outage due to ice storms, hurricanes, blizzards, etc., Canada always responded. Russ met a lot of wonderful Canadian linemen working with those crews.
Hope all is well with you and your “Doodlebug”.

Dear Kathy R, Sheen and Z fans,
Found the video done on Zenyatta by 60 minutes before the BCC 2010.
Such a lovely video.
Kathy and Sheena,
60 minutes is a one hour news program that does segments on significant
news events on mainly humans; Zenny was so special that they did one
on an Equine. Hope you enjoy it. They had a staff member that was a rider so
she helped the understand the significance of Zenyatta and helped to write the piece as
Zenny “spoke to her ” during the interview.

Hey, Sign: there were actually 2 60 Minutes segments done on Zenyatta. One right before the 2010 Breeders Cup and one after she had gone to Lane’s End before it was announced that she was in foal to Bernardini. Great watching!

Kathy R.
Dear Sheena: maybe GirlSarotoga has no power and can’t communicate – just hope she and others are all okay – hopefully the filthy storm will wear itself out very quickly. Down here we’re having the usual grumble about the “international raiders” who are taking over “our” Melbourne Cup – find it all rather comical. The betting agencies hate internationals because they lose profit since most punters don’t know a thing about the international entrants! Again, all very amusing. There is even a suggestion to run a Cup length race, worth $2m, just for locals on Cup day. Must be getting close to the silly season (warmer weather) that is making for these wacky comments. Hugs, KathyR.
HeidiK (Vallejo, Ca) aka DinkyDiva, Excited!
I’ve had the weather channel on most of the day, watching the destruction in the wake of Sandy. How horrible!!! What’s even scarier is, she’s not done yet!! Please, everyone continue to stay safe!

dear kathy what happened to makybe diva who won 3melbourne cups is she a broodmare now?we get the silly season over here too usually in august when the politicians are having their holidays hope the weather will be nice for camilla next week what do you think of her?hugssheena
Kathy R.
Dear Sheena: Unlike the lucky folk with Zenyatta and her fabulous connections, we only hear of the Diva when she has a foal (and even then it’s not big news). So far she has had a colt (17 Aug. 2007 by Galileo) called Rockstardom, who is a flop, a filly La Dolce Diva by Fusaichi Pegasus (20 Aug. 2008), who has since been sold as a broodmare after failing in her career, another colt by Encosta de Lago (foaled 28 August 2009), and a Lonhro colt, foaled 16 August 2011. She went to More Than Ready in 2010, but failed to come in foal. I’ve not heard about her for a while, so don’t know who she has been to this season. But it’s a different business over here – once the mares go to the breeding barn, that tends to be it. And especially in this case since the offspring have been failures. All very sad. Must say, don’t really mind Camilla – she obviously loves Charles, and knows how to follow the rules when it comes to involvement with the Royal family. Might have been best for all involved if they just let him marry her in the first place! Hugs, KathyR. (oh, the weather is supposed to be hot for the Cup, with possibility of storms in the afternoon – what joy!).

JudyB. I am wondering how Brenda S is doing. I saw reports that Fort Erie had a lot of wind damage. Have you heard from her? There were also many downed trees and power lines in Toronto and throughout Ontario. A woman was killed by a falling sign at Staples in Toronto. No one knows for certain where Sandy is headed next, north to Hudson Bay or through southern Quebec or the Maritimes provinces to the Atlantic. There is still high wind and rain but it is gradually getting weaker. It’s been a horror show for 60 million people.
