Happy February!
Last fall we held our fourth annual Zenyatta Celebration, raising $20,000 for Thoroughbred Rehab Center Inc. Five participants were chosen in a random drawing to win the grand prize, An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta. Each winner was invited to travel with a guest to Lane’s End Farm to meet Zenyatta and receive a tour of the farm. These photos document their visits. Photography by Alys Emson.
View the complete set of photos from these visits in our 2016 Zenyatta Celebration Photo Gallery.
Some of you have noticed that we’ve been posting less frequently, but our winter break is no cause for concern. Zenyatta is happy and healthy, and we got to see her at Lane’s End in late January. We’ll be posting images from our visit soon.
Enjoy!

February 27 Cherokee Devotional
“It is important to have a vision that is not clouded with fear,” said a Cherokee leader. “As children we were able to see beyond the impossible by enjoying a vision of how we wanted things to be. It required unlimited joy, and life responded freely-until we grew up enough that everything had to be real.” Sometimes the vision is truer than that which comes from it. A pattern to make anything can be accurate, and if followed perfectly, can produce the perfect model of it. But bringing something forth is the problem. We have to have a steady hand and a mind that is willing to follow precisely. Few things are spelled out for us. We learn to focus on what we need, but there is still another step: Focus on fulfillment. See it completed. This is usually left out as we adopt a wait-and-see attitude, and this step is far too important to ignore.
Have a vision not clouded by fear.

Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional today.Monday is cancelled again.A bit brighter today. We should have news about Hovis later today I am sure he enjoyed himself last night with the ladies!I pray all goes well.Michael(an FB pal) took that last photo of Clouds before he collapsed.A very difficult day for him as he is friends with Oliver and Tanya. It was good to see pics of Coz and Ziconic last night.Someone visited the stables on Saturday.Somehow I cannot imagine Coz being gelded given his pedigree We shall see.Such a fiasco at the Oscars last night and how much work has Faye Dunaway had???I hear she takes weighing scales out with her to restaurants for fear of putting on weight. These people do not live in the real world! The Dyfi isn’t opening until the 25th this year they put up LS sooner though. The egg was fertilised but failed a few days later. Now this was about the time Monty was visiting Blue who knows what was in Glesni’s mind she very well she could never bring a family of 3 on her own. They moving the nest out Monty’s sight about 2KM away. What will Blue have to say??No news of Fubu for a long time again.Kimberly will post when she needs money. No posts on Brutus’ page lately I am really disappointed with his friends. They have raised about£2,700.Felix is back to pest controlling this week Her mum Lexi gave birth on the best Egyptian cotton sheets in the airing cupboard.Chris had put a bed ready for her but like all cats she had other ideas!A commuter called Chris Allan stated her FB account he had got tired of commuting by car and started the 6.40 train.Once they they put up the video of Felix in her high-viz jacket everything spiralled out of control.Patricia shared a lovely story of 2 army horses who have found wonderful forever homes.Quincy is moving to a 40 acre farm in Massachusetts with heated barn automatic fly spray and A/C and Kennedy is moving to an 85 acre ranch in Texas.Seems he is rather difficult to handle.Remember to turtle Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I think ALL Mondays should automatically be canceled unless they are a holiday. No good comes from most Mondays. I can’t wait until we get some news on Hovis. Prayers that everything goes well. How hard for Michael to have taken that last photo of Clouds. Always good to see Coz and Ziconic. I agree…you wouldn’t think they would geld Coz. That whole fiasco at the Oscars was just crazy. Faye Dunaway looks awful. I would much rather see a woman who moisturizes as best she can and then lets the chips fall where they may! There is a lot to be said for aging gracefully! lol If she takes scales with her to go out to eat I feel sorry for her! You are right…these people do not live in the real world. Lots of drama on the horizon when the Dyfi opens up. I take it that both Fubu and Kimberly must be in bad shape. You’re right…Kimberly will resurface when she needs money. Such a shame about Brutus’ friends. Good for Felix keeping those pests under control. Most cats would much rather crawl off somewhere to give birth as opposed to a nice bed with Egyptian cotton sheets! I’m so glad for those army horses finding wonderful homes. They sound so deluxe! I will turtle like crazy today. You do the same! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXOXOX

February 27th, 2017 BY Tom Pedulla America’s Best Racing
One of the great obstacles John Velazquez faced presented itself long before his first mount.

I am a little late with my good news, but Fancy of the horse sanctuary has BOUNCED back! She is hungry and responded to the antibiotics. I waited for her lab results before I would post and they were good too! Fancy for 35 is remarkable!
As Forest Gump said “Life is like a bunch of Chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”. (or some thing like that)
It is so sad to see other wonderful horses pass too early and Fancy, who gave a lot of riding lessons and rides through many of her years, is still kicking and appears very happy in retirement. I wish that could be for all of the beautiful horses.

Arrogate going to Dubai World Cup, per Baffert
Jay Privman , Meydan , 2017-02-27 – DRF
Arrogate will be going to the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan on March 25, trainer Bob Baffert said Monday.
“I just got the word,” Baffert said after speaking to representatives of Juddmonte Farms. “As long as he keeps working well he’s going.”
Arrogate has won the Travers, Breeders’ Cup Classic, and Pegasus World Cup in his last three starts. He had also been under consideration for the Santa Anita Handicap on March 11, which is worth $750,000.
Baffert also will be sending Hoppertunity to the World Cup.
