2016 Zenyatta Celebration: Fans Meet Zenyatta

Happy February!

Last fall we held our fourth annual Zenyatta Celebration, raising $20,000 for Thoroughbred Rehab Center Inc. Five participants were chosen in a random drawing to win the grand prize, An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta. Each winner was invited to travel with a guest to Lane’s End Farm to meet Zenyatta and receive a tour of the farm. These photos document their visits. Photography by Alys Emson.

Some of you have noticed that we’ve been posting less frequently, but our winter break is no cause for concern. Zenyatta is happy and healthy, and we got to see her at Lane’s End in late January. We’ll be posting images from our visit soon.

    In May of 2005, Mike Smith piloted a gray colt by one of his beloved former mounts to a 50-1 upset in the GI Kentucky Derby. Giacomo (Holy Bull) represented the jockey’s first career win in the Run for the Roses, and it should have been the springboard to new heights of success for the New Mexico native. Instead, the Derby score was an outlier during the toughest period for Smith’s business since he left Canterbury Downs to ride on racing’s biggest stages in 1989.

      Thanks for sharing this, BGG. Oh What Fun and how sweet it is! She is a pure delight to watch — this is the definitive example of “cavorting”. Love that Mama enjoys a short roll, too. Obviously, they are enjoying the good life. Sheer happiness — may it ever be like this for them.

      Dear Kathy.It turned so mild overnight and I woke with a headache.My PC was so slow warming up I know I have another one but I like this one.I was about to give up when Zoe’s lovely face showed up.Your devotional was just what I needed .Quiet desperation for me today!It’s another damp dreary day here I do hope all goes well for Hovis today with his MRI scan.Poor Karen may end up bankrupt and Herman the German will be living in a mansion.At least CNSM is recovering I do hope the tumour doesn’t turn out to be malignant but he has caught it early.
      Lots ob science with Milo today and President Fibbs is busy with internashunal bizness.Had to laugh at the cheese photos last night.Felix has a new member on her team Mr Dan has arrived there.She went missing once and they were frantic with worry until they got a call from Domino’s pizza.She loved Billy the team leader and missed him dreadfully when he died.She used to sit on top of his car to try and stop him leaving the station!Andrew came into her life then and starting posting the videos he has left now but still visits .regularly.It was good to see Sole Power retired safe and sound He will stay with Eddie for a few months to unwind then move to County Wicklow Always remember him winning his 1st Nunthorpe at 100-1
      Sadly 49 horses have been dumped in various places so far this year mostly in England.Can humans get anymore cruel?The answer to that is yes but there are the good guys as well Alaa is busy rebuilding his shelter and although most of the cats disappeared Honey has turned up safe and sound.It’s only now I have started watching NCIS and am hooked.I love Abigail.Hope you have a great Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOXOXO

        Oh, I’m sorry you have a headache. Hopefully there’s something you can take for it that will do the trick. Computer woes are the worst. I always say the computers of the world have us all by our throats! lol Isn’t Zoe’s dress GORGEOUS? Looks like an Oscars dress to me! Yes, the words “quiet desperation” really spoke to me, too. Saying many prayers for Hovis. His poor human parents…you know the treatment is very expensive! Herman can probably start planning a new wing! Prayers and best wishes for CNSM.         I understand completely about being hooked on NCIS! I have been watching it for years now and still love it.     I was once told that I was anti-racing.
    That because I was a part of the second career movement, I obviously didn’t respect the first. That because I believed in not pushing for one more race that I didn’t cheer for the twenty before it.
    And that it, just simply, wrong.
