Happy Wednesday!
Last fall we held our third annual Zenyatta.com Celebration. Zenyatta fans everywhere helped us raise $23,000 for Thoroughbred Rehab Center Inc, and five participants were chosen in a random drawing to win our grand prize, An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta. Each winner was invited to travel with a guest to Lane’s End Farm to meet Zenyatta and receive a tour of the farm. These photos document their visits.
View the complete set of photos from these visits in our 2015 Zenyatta.com Celebration Photo Gallery.
Enjoy!

By Jeremy Balan, The Blood-Horse February 13, 2016
The second son of Zenyatta is approaching his long-awaited debut.
After a four-furlong breeze from the gate in :49 3/5 at Santa Anita Park Feb. 13, trainer John Shirreffs said Jerry and Ann Moss’ homebred Ziconic will likely make his first start in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race over the main track at Santa Anita Feb. 20.

Dear Sheena:
Actually, the heat in my apartment is not working properly. Lola and I are in layered clothing and wrapped in a blanket. Will have to report to the office first thing on Monday. The Thermo is all the way to the right and reading 63 degrees.
You’re right, I couldn’t access the photos of “little mother”. They must be adorable. Good for beautiful Denman. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

Judy,
So happy to hear your heat is back. Thanks for checking in and letting us know you are okay. Blessing to you and Lola Mae and of course, that imp, Charlie.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
My Dear Shirlee:
Thank you. Angela had her hands full with Charlie over the weekend. He and the other horses were in their stalls for two days because of the cold temp. He doesn’t like being inside and gets very vocal. He was happy to be back outside today. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
Sending you and Lola Mae some HUGE-ly Warm Hugs to help keep you warm!
Seriously, I hope the temperature doesn’t go lower in your apartment. Is there an emergency number for this kind of problem?
Hoping you are able to stay warm enough. Will be thinking of you and praying for much needed heat.
Hugs, Love and Warmth
shirleeinindy
Judy,
So sorry you are having heat problems. Hope little Lola Mae doesn’t get too cold.
We had snow today and a very low temp but warm up is starting tonight. Hope it makes it way to you. Be sure and check in tomorrow morning to let us know you are okay!
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Marshall and Shirlee:
Thank you for your sweet concern. We’ve gotten our heat back just in time for the heat wave tomorrow; temp should be in the high 50s.
Maintenance came today. Looks like the heating system in my apartment has been a problem since the building was built. It’s an end apartment and in freezing temps, the circulatory system that all the apartments share is compromised. Although this is my third Winter here, this is the first one where the temps were below freezing for 3 consecutive days. As soon as it warmed up to the 20s today, the heat came up. Ironic isn’t it; no heat on the days when you most need it. Not concerned so much for me as for Lola Mae. Made sure she was wrapped in blankets the whole time and I made what resembles a “hoodie” for her out of a sleeve of one of my old tops. Not pretty, but it kept her warm. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy, So relieved your heat is back working. You and Lola stay warm.L
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
Thank you. We’re fine now; temp here today is 55 degrees. Love and Hug, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
I know Lola Mae was twice warmed — once by the extra layer provided by the “hoodie” and even more, by the love from being surrounded by Mama’s clothing creation. So glad your heat is back in time for the warm spell :-). I would hope they could come up with a system which is more reliable, added insulation, too, maybe.
Charlie will be most elated with the warmer temperature and sunshine — he can be out chasing blankets and unsuspecting horsetails! What devilish fun!!
Hugs and Love

It seemed like such a good idea to give an elderly lady a teddy bear. I hoped that it would soften her approach to life and she would feel better. Maybe for a time it did, but in the long run feeling better often means putting aside negative personal attitudes for more positive ones. If you are waiting for that “something” to happen so that you can be happy again, know this: something has happened many times but you did not see it worthy. You must begin to change what needs to be changed. Everything is not going to change to suit us. But we can do something: we can come to know ourselves and why we react the way we do to perfectly harmless events-and then deal with it. No one else can do it, but oh, how it needs to be done.
Love is something we must have. We must have it because our spirits feed upon it.

Dear BGG,
Thanks for the foals of the week link!
Thank you, also, for this Budweiser Clydesdales commercial — great gift for Valentine’s Day.
The Super Bowl commercials this year were pretty lame, IMHO. What is wrong with those people at InBev? Don’t they know how beloved the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales are? There was definitely a big void without them this year. I don’t watch the Super Bowl, but from the clips of commercials that I have seen, I didn’t miss much.
Hugs and Love
Kathy
Dear Marshall,
I agree that the commercials were a big disappointment this year for the most part. Give us an excellent Clydesdale storyline any day!

I have been in love with Ziconic, since the day I first set eyes on him. I love the pictures of him and Zenyatta, when he was first born, and how he showed so much love for his mom. I loved how muscular he was, instead of sort of skinny like most new foals are. I loved his presence, and how he carried himself. I loved his color, and how he became more strong and beautiful as he grew up. I loved his work ethics, and the maturity of knowing what it was all about. I really love the video, when he was less then a month old, and he and Zenyatta were racing together, side by side until out of sight. I think she knew the potential in him, and wanted to see what he had. They were having fun!!!! I think Zenyatta saw the potential, and taught him his lessons that he would need, well!! His name is perfect, his mom and dad are perfect, and he even dances, just like mom!!!! God bless you Ziconic!! Show them what you have, and make your mom proud!!!! We love you!!!!!

Beauty and ugliness exist in everything-even in some of the same things. We are accused of wearing rose-colored glasses if we see beauty in everyone and in everything. Would it not be hard to see nothing but ugliness? To some, a barren landscape is total emptiness. To others, it is uncluttered simplicity filled with all that is beautiful and serene. Physical appeal is high on some lists, but comfort lasts longer. Whatever is in our hearts is in our sight. To love is to see beauty and life, but never what is wrong. Brooding over ugliness in ourselves or in other people is such a waste. When we are gentle in our observations, we can see and cultivate the best in ourselves and in those around us.
The white man does not scalp the head, they do worse, they poison the heart.

Dear Kathy.Happy President’s day!No turtling today.I always believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder .You can find it anywhere if you care to look.Another cold sunny day here but there is rain on the horizon. There is to be a race run at the Curragh in the autumn in memory of Brown Panther.Michael Owen is very touched.I hadn’t been on Moose’s twitter in awhile and Sophie is teaching him to “dance” he says it’s fun!”Strictly beckons.A hunt invaded Hovis’ yard while all the other horses got very distressed Hovis never murmured. This is the horse who is scared of yellow perils!!Those hunting folk think they own the countryside!
Did you see Fubu’s post his eyesight is near normal again and he weighs 10lbs now!!He was 6lbs 9ozs at one time.He really is a miracle Persian prince.Ray and Jack O are waiting patiently for brekkie.Felix has that Monday morning feeling shades of the ratties?Did you see my message yesterday about Diesel?so sad she got shot by her own side.Have a great Monday.Love and hugs to you, kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
So great to have a Monday where you don’t have to turtle! That’s really cool that Moosie is learning to dance! I’m so proud of Hovis standing his ground when the hunt came through! What a brave boy! What wonderful news that Fubu’s eyesight came back. I never would have believed it! He is a miracle, indeed! And 10 pounds! That’s fabulous! What a fighter. Ray and Jack O waiting for Daddy to drop some breakfast reminds me of my Sugar. When I’m preparing food she’s right under my feet so she can eat anything that drops on the floor. Too funny! Had missed your message about Diesel. That’s really heartbreaking. Have a wonderful day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXOXOXOX

Danny Mullins will miss Cheltenham after fracturing his kneepad on Saturday at Newbury.Riding Dicosimo for uncle Willie they both came to grief at the 4th flight.Surgery tomorrow.Cue Card is to have a racecourse gallop at Kempton on February 27th in preparation for the Cheltenham Gold Cup,Sheena

Willie Mullins says that all of his horses ran “like hairy goats” at Newbury.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Yes,Mullins had no luck at Newbury. The Brits are fighting back!He was back to winning ways in Ireland yesterday. Now I remembered wasn’t Vautour meant to run in the Denman? They hope to get a race into him before the festival.Annie is meant to be running on Wednesday,Denman was in superb shape on Saturday.A joy to see.Sheena
Max
It’s hard to know what Mullins will do. He had Vautour in the Denman and then pulled him. Shorty says that Mullins decides everything at the last minute depending on how he sees the chances of a horse winning. Usually he has enough horses in a race that if one doesn’t win another one will. He is however “disappointed” with the 5 goats. The vets have been summoned to check them over on their return to Ireland.

Dear Sheena:
Couldn’t access the H & H link of Denman, but thanks for trying.
I don’t have any hot water bottles, but I’m thinking of getting an electric blanket for next year just to use when watching TV. That will be a big help as long as we have power. I feel so bad, three of my small potted plants died as a result of the cold temp in the apartment during the 3 day deep freeze.
Mini Mum and Hovis together are just too adorable. Love the way he’s looking at her in the photo. Estimates colt is beautiful. Love and Hugs, JB
