Team Z is pleased to announce the first ever Zenyatta.com Celebration!
On Saturday Nov. 2, we will hold a special online-only event in honor of Zenyatta’s fans and her legacy. The event will go live on a special section of Zenyatta.com that morning, and everyone is invited.
There will be a celebration discussion, a live feed of fan photos, and the opportunity to bid on exclusive items in an online auction benefitting racing-related charities.
The auction will include items such as a limited edition mug, signed prints and memorabilia, and an invitation to meet Zenyatta at Lane’s End. We will release a detailed description of all auction items in advance of the event.
We hope the Zenyatta.com Celebration will be the perfect compliment to Breeders’ Cup weekend for Zenyatta fans all over the world. We can’t wait to see you there!

Thank you, Max. I find myself looking forward to Fridays because of Hovis. Poor, poor boy–we feel your pain. You are the cutest.

Hi Kathy Just love those Native American names.Hope you got to see the pics of Our Majesty and her 3 successors, George was really enjoying himself!! Hope Hovis hasn’t heard the weather forecast, there’s a storm on the way! hugs Sheena
Kathy
Hi Sheena,
Yes, I viewed the photographs yesterday! Just beautiful. It was amazing that everyone looked really good at the same moment. I really liked the photo where the Queen is looking at the Prince. Very touching. 4 generations…that’s pretty good. In my own family there were 5 generations for a time. Not too many families can claim that!
Poor misunderstood Hovis! I sure hope his Mum buys him a new YELLOW raincoat so he doesn’t get so wet.
Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy

Dear Max Diolch yn Fawr Poor Hovis and the british weather, we’ve been promised very wet and stormy weather sunday into Monday winds 80-90mph. Frilly, Dolly and Foxy will have to use him as a wind break,as a manly soul he will love that. Thanks for the link to Ouija Board, I believe she’s in foal to galileo again, had a colt back in feb by Dubawi.Of course Ed Dunlop trained Snow Fairy as well.
I always try to get british goods as well, being a global village ,it’s getting more and more difficult,am sure you will love the books.
Boris is a firm favourite with voters over here, dont think he’s the bungling buffoon he’s made out to be.Nick was on one of radio lunchtime shows today sorting out the British economy, as per usual!!! Dydd gwener hapus ei eich Sheena

Now we have Dave, Ed, and Nick and not a clue . . . . . maybe this is an “inside joke?”
Max
Dave is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Nick is the Deputy PM and Ed is the Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. Boris is the Mayor of London. Sheena and I are affictionadoes of UK politics as well as horses.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Ahhh . . . well . . . . that clears things up a bit :-) Thanks Max!
Max
Sheena. I love the books especially the photos of Hovis and his horsey friends. According to my friend with the horse farm, his horses are very like Hovis. The Clydesdales have good dispositions, but they all have some degree of attitude. He said that his donkeys are like guard dogs, just don’t stand behind them.
Terry Crow
Somebody posted awhile back that Hovis should be in Budweiser commercial. Sounds like a great idea. Perhaps he can have the dalmatian on his back.

@ Barbara Wood–I’m so disappointed that I won’t see you next weekend! I was really hoping that you would be coming–I had such fun meeting you last year!! Since we get to have the BC out here in the west next year too,I hope it will be possible for you to come then. With my daughter living in Irvine,it just seems perfect to combine a visit with her with the BC. I’m only sorry she can’t come to the races this year–she has rehersals on both Friday and Saturday for Sunday’s concert. Am hoping to see some video clips from my grand-daughter’s performance earlier this month as the lead in “Rent”–so glad she is getting to do so many shows and still studying hard. She’s so focused on what she wants to do in life–much like our dear Pati!!
We’ll all be thinking of you and wishing you were with us!!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Oh, Sue, thank you! I will be home watching for glimpses of all “my” Dumplings! Congratulations to your wonderfully talented family members. Would love to hear their concerts. Big hugs.

Hi Barb
So disappionted that I won’t be seeing you and Allan this year. What a shame. Maybe next year.

Terry, you always catch me by surprise and make me laugh out loud here at the library which is really not the thing to do. The lady sitting next to me jumped sideways when I snorted, yes snorted with laughter.
Hovis you are a real hoot. Your Mum is a lucky woman!
Terry Crow
I have that affect on women. They laugh at me.

Dear BlueGrass Girl
Do you know if there is any way you can get or find a copy of the video of a particular horse that sold at Fasig Tipton this past Tuesday October 22. Do not see it on their Website. Would so appreciate if you know.
Bluegrass Girl
Peggy
Without the name or hip number, it is a difficult search.
You can go to You Tube and search “fasig tipton 2013 Oct. 22”
I just did that to make sure it works. It brought up several videos.
Also, some stables and owners did promotional videos for their horses.
So, if you share the name, maybe I can help find it.

He was brilliant.
Terry Crow
Yes he was. Without a doubt one of the best of all time. Remains Bill Shoemaker’s biggest mistake in choosing a mount in the Derby. As for riding, his biggest mistake was in one of the Derby’s finest fields ever in 1957 when he rode Gallant Man.

Barbara, Thank you for posting that video. Tears, but tears of joy and appreciation for the wonderful mare and her team. If that BC had been another 3 feet, she would have won. Nothing, however, can take away from her greatness.

Dear Max Must get the flags out Moose may be back in a couple of weeks!! He doesn’t know where, I’ m thinking, maybe the Cheltenham meeting in mid-november it’s near his home.Jim Mcgrath one of our racing journalists was teasing him on twitter saying if he does’nt get “going” he’ll have to start doing Paddy Power adverts!!Kauto and Supersteve have had minty treats delivered to them was nice of kauto to send his love to his old friend Denman.Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. I saw those comments. Moosie was not happy to be teased. He did say that he was done with stalls, but he might have company at the start of the next jump race. Does this mean that his horse psychologist, Gary, will be there?
When is Steve coming home?
Ann NC
Moosie, Just do it! Good boy!
Terry Crow
@Debbie G-Not a bad effort by Kentucky last night but the usual result.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max Have’nt heard when Steve is due home, Laura is due to go on holidays soon.I wasn’t sure what Moosie meant, maybe because it’s a tape start the other horses will be near to him rather than in their stalls.Cant wait to see what he decides to do!!!Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Moosie is always a mystery. Cannot see him liking the company of rivals at the start of a race. Think that you are right that the race will be Cheltenham. Listened to a replay of PM Question Time from Wednesday. Lots of shouting going on there. Dave was doing a pretty good job, as was Ed. Nick was looking very serious. Too bad Boris left for mayoral politics.
Pati-Tired College Student
Z Family,
Now that the weekend is upon us, I have some time to update everyone.
My group’s van was almost T-boned by someone doing at least 60 on the way back from the barn. It was on my side and my life literally flashed before my eyes. He swerved out of the way at the last second, over corrected and hydroplaned into the curb. I have never screamed so loud in my life and the other girls were a bit panicked as well. I barely got out of the van, and I couldn’t bring myself to eat. Apparently, speeding up to freak out the college students is a “popular activity” here. What are these people thinking??
Only a few more weeks until Christmas. I’m excited to get back to SHERR, my Red, and my mom’s cooking. The food here makes me sick. Bleh.
Stay wonderful and be kind to each other, because like I almost found out today, you never know which day will be your last.

Yikes! Glad no one was hurt.
Stay the course and have a nice break, I bet SHERR will be happy to see you. Family too…get ready big HUGS!

October 26 Cherokee Devotional
After a long dry spell, what could be as satisfying as the rumble of thunder declaring the end of a drought? Rain, like a gauzy gray curtain, sweeps across the valley and raps on the roof, and the desire to stand at the window and watch is over-powering. The rain after a period of drought is a great blessing.
Blessings come in many ways and after many different kinds of “droughts.” For the drought of loneliness, there is the blessing of the preacher who stays to talk; for the drought of sadness, there is the blessing of the friend who makes you laugh; for the drought caused by conflict, there is the blessing of peace that comes with the gentle-spirited; and for the drought of the blues, there is the blessing of those who cheer others. Who do you know who might be experiencing a drought of some kind? What kind of blessing, what kind of rain can you be?
The earth is under the protection of something which at times becomes visible to the eye.

Forgive And Let God Do The Rest
26
Oct Ephesians 4:32
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
People like to say, “I can forgive, but I cannot forget.” Have you heard that before? Now, in the first place, nowhere in the Bible does God tell you to forgive and then to forget. It is not in the Bible! The devil is adding something here to make the whole thing burdensome.
God only tells us to forgive because God in Christ has forgiven us a debt we cannot pay. When we do this, we do ourselves a favor because harboring bitterness and unforgiveness can sometimes destroy our health!
So just forgive and let God take care of the rest. When you really forgive, sometimes, He makes you forget. But sometimes, you still remember the incident because it was a major thing in your life. Yet, when you look back at it, the pain is no more there. The sting is gone and you are not bitter.
Joseph had forgiven his brothers before they came and bowed before him. He remembered what they did to him, but he did not remember it with bitterness. (Genesis 50:15–21) So you may remember the incident, but the bitterness is gone because you have put the cross in the picture—“God in Christ forgave me. Daddy, I forgive you. Mama, I forgive you. My cousin, I forgive you.”
When you forgive, forgive by faith, not by your feelings. We walk by faith, not feelings. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Some people are waiting for feelings—“I am waiting, Father, for the right emotion to come on me to forgive that person.” That “right emotion” may never come!
No, forgive by faith, and do it once and for all. Spend time in prayer. Take out your diary and write it down: “Father, I bring this person before you. You know what he did to me. Father, as You forgave me through Jesus’ cross, even though I did not deserve it, by faith, I now forgive this person and I let my anger against him go in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
Once you forgive by faith, you will see the sting of bitterness removed from your heart. You will experience the peace and joy of God filling your mind, and see a greater measure of wholeness in your body! Joseph Prince
I needed this today and I thought maybe one of you could too.

LOL!
Today is Lea’s day! I just know it. He ran a great race against, Dan. So, he has it in him.
Go buddy go.

Thank y’all for all the nice wishes for Lea. He is a real beauty and has a little bit of an arrogant air about him. I always love the Claiborne horses. The people at the farm were always so nice to me and my family the many times we visited. Can’t believe I started going there in the mid 70s. Gee, I am old!
Max
shirlee. From your description, Lea is my kind of horse. Go Lea!
Ann NC
Max, I wonder if he is a backside nipper? Wilie would approve?

Ann NC. Lea has one fantastic and very royal pedigree. There are world class biters in his background.

Go Lea! Win for shirlee.

Dear Max Our politicians certainly put a good show on for the camera.Maybe Nick was thinking of the election in 2015!!Sad to hear of Simonsig’s injury, out until the festival, having spa treatment tweeted he can eat his Christmas dinner now! We’ve got some Aintree action today, one of the races is named after the popular grey Monet,s Garden who beat our boy Kauto there a few years ago. He recovered from a life threatening hoof infection last year.Have you heard about the wallaby that,s moved into Highgate cemetery, the tourists and staff here love him , good company for Karl Marx and Ed,s father Ralph Milliband! hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. What an interesting development at Highgate. They think that he’s ( or she’s) a UK native wallaby. Ralph is also David’s father, as you know. Haven’t heard much about him since the leadership. Moosie says that he’s not sure where he will run or not next. Did you read that post about Northern Dancer? Looks as if Frankel inherited his talent but not his attitude. The Dancer was too feisty to be a gentleman. He used to bite his trainer Luro who is in that picture with him and Taylor. Luro recommended gelding. Lucky for Frankel and many others, including Coz, that Taylor nixed that idea.
Jennifer
What is upsetting about this though is that only someone with a lot of money, who can bid the highest amount on an auction, can visit Zenyatta. Here you have thousands of us “regular” folk who have followed Zenyatta her whole career, and we are denied the chance to meet her in person because I can’t outbid someone. Bummer. If we all put in say $50 to a charity, then one name was picked to visit her – that would be much more fair. I’m sad.

Dear Max We are bracing ourselves for the worst storm of a generation!!You know how the British have an obsession with the weather but this is something else! I thought David Milliband came out to the US, I don’t think his wife Louise ever forgave Ed. The Wallaby is really making himself at home in Highgate, some escaped from zoos but it,s the first time one has been seen in North London.Yes I well remember ND’s feisty ways, mind you ,Frankel loved to trash his box on times but I,m sure Sir Henry taught him some good manners.Thank God the year he was born Juddmonte had the pick of the foals not Coolmore.hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. The usual rain in England is what we in the ROTW call mist. Sorry however to hear this news about an upcoming storm. I hope that the worst effects miss you. Weather forecasters are not always correct.
I think that Frankel learned manners from Kind, as she seems to be like her name. Northern Dancer’s mother was not a gentle mare and she taught him what he needed to know. She had a temper, such as refusing to set a hoof in Belmont. She was a daughter of Native Dancer, the famous Gray Ghost.
