Happy Wednesday!
This week has brought warm and sunny weather to Lane’s End, which means many happy horses!
12Z received a visit from the blacksmith yesterday, during which his feet were assessed and trimmed. He was quite the well behaved colt! Alys was there to document the occasion, so you can watch the whole process on video below.
Enjoy!

Oh my gosh his so handsome!!! He is turning into quite the gorgoeus horse, just like Mom. He seems to have such a nice personality, also just like Mom! Thank you for posting these videos!!!!

What a handsome boy he is and he has his momma’s ears. Many thanks to Alys for the wonderful pictures and video. I hope 12Z got some carrots after his pedicure, he was so well behaved.
Zenny is looking good with a nice round tummy. I’m hoping that it’s a filly this time.
Robin LOVES Zenyatta
12Z is incredibly calm for an energetic yearling! What a good boy. We will love you no matter what. And our Queen is looking so beautiful these days. It makes my heart sing to know that she is so happy at LE. I look at the portrait of Secretariat and Z as our Racing Royalty every day, and every day it makes me smile!

Dear Robin,
The calmness he has is related to how much human handeling he has had
in his life. Lanes End does such a good job with this. Remember everyday
for his whole life he has had his hooves picked, for dirt and inspection. So
one of the reasons for this is to make them “farrier” friendly, which he is.
Great job Lanes End !!!!

Thanks for your time and effort to keep us update on 12Z and Lady Z… Been following them for so long, kind of hard to stop checking in to see how they are doing. Again, thank you.
Jan Hallman
He’s getting lanky like his mom. He looks like…ok…which hoof is first. can’t wait to see him run.
Marty R / Colorado
I can’t believe how lucky we have been lately with all the new photos and videos. Thank you Lane’s End for allowing these insights as to what goes on to taking care of the youngsters. Thank you Alys for your photography and filming. Thank you TeamZ for keeping the blog updated and thank you Mr. and Mrs. Moss for sharing the lives of Zenyatta and 12Z with us loyal followers.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a farrier at work and I have never seen that stand that 12Z’s hoof was resting on while the farrier worked away. It seems that would be easier on the body as long as the horse was co-operative. And, didn’t 12Z co-operate beautifully. Did anyone catch what the two farriers said after his walk in the barn? I’m guessing they spotted something that they needed to try to correct with the hoof trimming.
Zenyatta looks amazing as always. She just has to look at the camera, clean or muddy, and it’s an ahhhh moment. It was a nice surprise coming to the blog this evening.

I heard the word ‘separation’, I believe.

Thanks Lane’s End for all the pictures and videos. These are for the public to keep up with Z and the Prince. Shame on those that think foul language and tension is needed. Block them. thanks to Lane’s End grooms and employees. Hope to see the Prince at Keeneland running( and I can sit security for him)
Cathi Sadocha
Thanks for keeping us all up to date on the goings on. It means so much to me and I am sure thousands of others.
I can’t hardly wait to see what Z12’s name is going to be. Even more to see him run…..
Lady Z looks great always.
Thanks again to all who are in the loop for keeping us all in your loop.

Dear Z, Prince and Baby Z:
Sleep tight. Love you. Hugs, JB
Cathy
What a good boy. You’d never think he is so young. A handsome boy who did his Mom proud.
Janet Newman
Thanks to Lane’s End for the new pictures and video.
Looking at these photos taken inside and compared
with those outside on the last post, it is easier to see
how big 12Z is.
Zenyatta looks as beautiful as ever.
Looked like it gets busy trimming all those yearlings.
SunnyB.
Doesn’t he look more and more like his famous Mom? Especially around the snootie? Just sweet. And how big he is, he is going to be bigger than Z, huh? too sweet. Thanks Team Z
Zenyen
Oh, lets hope he’s not bigger than Zenyatta!
Big race horses are that much more difficult to keep sound, all that weight and body on those fragile legs. A nice solid 16.2h would be perfect!
SunnyB.
Okay, let’s hope he doesn’t :)
Ann NC
Yes,Sunny,I love how they resemble each other around their snooties! Such a nice accent color,it is beautiful.
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club; RN philosopher
Dear Sunny B,
He does have the Zenyatta “signature” muzzle, with the brown tip.
A cutie snootie. Most likely he will be a big boy like mom and we know
of course who is the best at training those type or horses, right !!!!
Just money up front in waiting time to grow, rather than on the back end.
Louise Castello
Sign, “cutie snootie”. I love it!

Thank You for everything you are and everything you do.
I agree it would be a good idea to block some of the things said.
Shirley Donoho
Thank you so much for sharing. I am so proud of 12Z. Looks like he enjoys a pedicure as much as I do.
Marshall (NC broad)
Thanks to Lane’s End and Team Z for these wonderful photos and videos! 12Z seems to be quite the gentleman while getting his pedicure! Great job, Alys.
We do appreciate being kept updated and in the Z family! Thanks, too, for the photo of the Queen — she looks beautiful in her “roundness”, and that expressive countenance is picture perfect.
All the Best to Everyone!
Donna H.
Along with all the others, I thank you profusely. My life has been enriched by the sharing of Zenyatta and 12Z with us. 12Z seems to be an amazing boy and I love Zenny so much. I saw a number of Tapit’s youngsters who may be headed to the Derby.

No offense intended to anyone but for those times I visit here to get updated on Z who I’ve followed for quite a while now, I don’t quite understand this sites relationship to redneck jokes. For some they may be entertaining, but for others they could be taken in a descriminating and offensive manner even if that was not the intent.
When Dottie began this site there were times some got off messege at times I recall and our egos got in the way of celebrating Zenyatta and how her presence transcended the horse industry. Please, let us all appreciate Lanes End, The Mosses and all of Zenyatta’s connections and make sure we do not abuse the privilege. Some may feel they have the right to post whatever they wish, but that does not necessarily mean we should. Let’s be sensitive to all who may visit. Welcome everyone’s thoughts who are brave enough to express them without fear of being corrected or admonished. God Bless.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
I’m sorry if my post was offensive to you or anyone else. Please accept my apology. Posts from others with RN humor have never been made with intent to hurt anyone, and I sincerely hope no one ever has been hurt by the occasional levity of the RN Club.
Ann Maree / Tennessee
Trina, love your redneck stories….you are our poet laureate…I can’t imagine anything other than good humor and good-natured kidding has ever been intended. As a “redneck” myself, I feel I can speak to this issue with some authority….please don’t discontinue your redneck stories!!!! Hugs, sweet lady!!!
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Dear Ann Maree, thank you for the compliment, but although I do contribute poems to Z’s site, I have never contributed to the Red Neck humor. I have enjoyed the contributions of others, and never thought they were mean-spirited.
Louise Castello
Trina, In no way was your post offensive! Most of us love the redneck jokes. I find all the posts on here entertaining for the most part and if I come to something I may not appreciate, I just scroll past. Unfortunately, what pleases one person may not please another. It isn’t too hard to scroll on by!

@Longtime Z supporter: this site’s “relationship to redneck jokes” has just been a way for a number of regular or semi-regular posters to share common enjoyment of “Redneck Humor”, amidst all the horse information, pacing while waiting for foals to arrive, etc. Humor is subjective — like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. If all humor were censored that COULD be “be taken in a discriminating and offensive manner, even if that was not the intent”, then there would be NO humor. It is simply not possible, with humor, to be sure that no one ever misinterprets it. So, the Redneck Club posts often have included a warning or other disclaimer, in case someone stumbles across it, and might not understand the actual harmless intent of the group. Of course, if anyone does feel hurt by some joke posted, they should feel free to say so, and people will respond kindly and appropriately — but I don’t think that has ever happened, yet.
Louise Castello
Well said Vicki B.

We had a great time today although, plans got a bit altered. I picked her up and we took a drive out to the lake/pond that we always took the horses too. Spent sometime there, talking about those days. Took a drive to see some previous houses/ranches that we had. Man, things have totally changed in Vacaville!! It was a lovely day for a nice country drive though. Then, we stopped by the house to pick my Niece up and we headed out to the ranches. One friend, didn’t give me his address so, we got confused and said to heck with it. Went to a boarding stable that we boarded at and ran into my old BFF. We didn’t even know if she’d be there and what barn. So, as we walked into the main barn (remember, it’s been almost 20 years since we’ve seen one another). Anyways, I saw a blonde lady pulling out a bay paint. I recognized her and shouted to her, are you Deanne? She said I’m Deanne not Anne. LOL I walked up to her and it took her a few minutes to realize that it was me. Talk about being TOTALLY SURPRISED ON BOTH PARTS! We met her two horses and petted the one and gave him carrots and just spent time talking about the good ole days. She did say that if we come back out, she’d see about letting us ride her Buckskin gelding since, he’s so laid back. Also, to let her know, and she’ll bring out the photo album from back then. She just kept saying : Wow, I was just thinking about you! Or, Wow, I can’t believe you’re here!! It was awesome!!!!
So, even though not everything went as planned, Joy and I still got to have Sister time away from the hustle and bustle. Feel and smell the horses and the country air that we grew up on. All in all, it was a great day and even if it was just for a few hours, those few hours, she wasn’t thinking about her pain etc…
Joy looked good today and felt good. Perhaps, the positive energy and prayers are working?! I would like to Believe so!!! Let’s keep it up. Power Up Joy!
Trina Nagele in So Cal
I’m thrilled that you and Joy and your niece had a great time! Thanks for keeping us posted. Power Up Joy!

Thank you SO much, everyone, who makes it possible for us to keep up to date with Z and her baby. Thank you Mr and Mrs Moss, Lanes End for granting permission, and Alys for the photos, and absolutely everyone else, who makes this possible. There is no gain to you on this, but speaking for myself, I appreciate it so very much!!! Please try to ignore (and block if you are in that position) anyone who does not treat this site, and this ‘visiting’ with respect.
Longtime Z supporter
@Vickie, your expected and assumed response actually confirmed my humble comments. No, those offended will just continue to exit this site knowing it”s a waste of time to share their feelings. The diclaimer you spoke of is kind of pointless. Oh well. How about we all focus on the excitement of Z having her baby soon. Wish there was more news on her possible delivery date. A beautiful grey little girl would be fantastic!

The thing with online is that it’s difficult to see how sthg written is intended, no body language. It’s difficult to see whether people are laughing at others or actually at themselves.

Dear Sunny B,
You are so very correct. This often also happens in the work setting where
too many e-mails are sent and context is lost. We always try to make a call to
clarify so the appropriate context is taken.
It is very sad that some people take things not meant for them for them personally. Those that do have self-esteem and self-worth issues and they are better handled in a professionals office .

He got so big and he is such a pro already.
shirleeinindy
What a way to start my morning. He is getting so big. I look at the pics and video and feel like a proud auntie or granny. Zenny and Z12 make the winter days brighter.
Thank you to Lanes End for all the wonderful pictures.
Also, see that my sweet Muchie (Mucho Macho Man) might be going in the Donn. Can’t wait to see him out on a dry track.
Darlene Daniels
Dear Shirlee,
Lol, I remember last March, shortly after 12Z was born, I was talking about him and showing off photos of him to my friends, saying look at my new grandson. They all looked at me like I was nuts. None of my family or friends are horsey people. Another reason this blog means so much to me.
I am excited for Mucho Macho Man, and think of you everytime I see his name. I think we all have our favorite. Beside our beloved Zenyatta, of course, mine is Fort Larned. He’s my boy. Good luck Mucho Macho Man.
shirleeinindy
Darlene, Thank you for the kind words and thoughts. I too am the voice in the wilderness and none of my friends or family are into the horses as I am. Thank goodness for this blog and people to talk horse with.
I voluteer at a heart hospital and the story of MMM and Kathy caught my eye before his Derby run. What a great story.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
You’re right, Shirlee, MMM and his trainer have inspiring backstories. Go, “Muchie!”

What wonderful photos and videos!!! We are so fortunate that our dear Zenyatta is in the care of Lanes End and through the generosity and kindness of the Mosses and all of Z’s connections, we are able to share in her post-racing life. She still looks beautiful to me in all her fuzzy, muddy, expecting mom glory!!! 12Z appears to be an amazingly well behaved young colt and it is cool to see his farrier visit in these videos. Thank you is truly not enough but that is all I have at my disposal to express my gratitude. Thank you!!!
