Happy Wednesday!
This week has brought warm and sunny weather to Lane’s End, which means many happy horses!
12Z received a visit from the blacksmith yesterday, during which his feet were assessed and trimmed. He was quite the well behaved colt! Alys was there to document the occasion, so you can watch the whole process on video below.
Enjoy!

Dear Team Z and Zenny – you have a lot to be proud of! 12Z is such a CUTE boy! And so well mannered. I love the 3rd video of him nuzzeling while his little feet are being worked on.
Would love an update and what are his future plans – will he stay at Lane’s End a while longer, go to Ocala? Personally I am rooting for the day he might come to Barn 55 :) Time goes so fast it will be tomorrow before you know it.
And such a gret shot of Zenny! We love you!! Linda and George

Thanks Team Z for another great sharing!
Big boy now and handling this very well.
I remember the first time with Mom Zenyatta by his side watching every move with alert concern. So many changes since then.

I had no idea that disruptive posts were being put on here. We are all here because of our LOVE for Zenyatta, her foal, and horses. We have been through so much, good and some, not so good, with Zenny. If someone is unhappy, please leave our group. I am here to escape from some tough chronic issues and events in my real life, and find a place to share with fellow horse lovers. Play nice, friends.

Bravo, Helene.

I agree with Helene and Judy and Margaret. I am so glad to know that the administrator has noticed everything going on here. It was straight up bullying in my opinion and it was horrible. I know for a fact that some folks left because of it and haven’t been back! It’s sad and not what this blog is about and was taking the joy away from coming here. Hopefully, things will stay nice and we can START PACING SOON!!!! I am hoping for a grey filly! Thank you Lane’s End for allowing us to share in Zenyatta’s life!
Margaret
Hear hear. I totally agree. I know life can be the pits sometimes. Bosses, employees, the stoopid driver who flipped the bird. We’ve all had our share of troubles.
Let us once again bring the focus back to Zenyatta. For her human family that has allowed so many of us to chat and get to one another. LE’s I think has tried so hard to help the fans see Z. It isn’t easy for them.
There are a number health issues for a breeding farm that has to be contended with. And LE’s is a public boarding farm. There are huge issues that are way beyond our boundaries to know and understand. Think of it kinda like HIPPA. And the money involved…would astound many of you who have never been to Kentucky.
I think of LE’s as part of Z’s family because they take care of her on a day to day basis now. The Moss’s of course and John and Dottie who had her in their care during her racing career. For all of Barn 55 who had a hand in helping Z become the athlete she was and is.
All these kind gracious folk have allowed us a picture and glimpse into Z’s life. Let’s not ruin it by speaking harsh words.

Hi Everyone!
I am so sorry to learn this. This is a wonderful site and with such a nice community of folks that visit this site. Many of us have become friends. This site is all about Zenny’s life. Please let’s keep it that way.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Dear Helene, I join the others with welcoming your sensitive comment and hoping this site will remain a restorative tonic for all. Z is indeed the embodiment of love and inspiration. Best wishes to you, and please keep posting.

Trina,
You’re the BEST!!!

Moma Z looks like she’s ready anytime. Love to see her more.
That boy has grown so fast and he is very well behaved while his hooves are being worked on. That shows the hands-on care given to the horses at Lane’s End, I do have to wonder how long it took to catch him in his paddock though!!lol!
Thanks to Team Z, Lane’s End and Alys.

Dear Lane’s End Team, Z Team and Mr. & Mrs. Moss:
Thank you from my heart for these wonderful photos and video of Z and 12Z. Thank you for letting us be a part of Z and 12Z’s life. Our Prince is just so well behaved and gets more and more beautiful as he grows. So looking forward to Baby Z’s arrival.
Thank you again. So appreciate your kindness in sharing with us. Hugs, JB

I’m grateful for every person who cares for Z and 12Z! I’m equally grateful that a number of very busy people take the time to keep Z’s fans informed by sharing photos and videos! You don’t have to do it. Yet, you do it anyway. Please don’t be discouraged my a few negative commenters. They are noisy but they are few.

Thank you everyone at LEF!! Dear Z looks to Huge and Happy and looking right at the camera….She is Beautiful!! 12Z is a Handsome boy and was a good boy for the blacksmith. I am looking forward to the new little one and how 12Z handles going to FL I presume to be broke etc….HUGS TO ALL!
Jolande
I don’t remember any real bad posts on the blogs but I will say there’s a lot of off-topic chatter on them. Stuff that might be better suited for the forum. I love reading the comments of other Z fans on these precious insights into Z and 12Z’s lives but it seems like the genuine comments get buried more and more.
I’m not saying that this shouldn’t be posted at all, absolutely not but I think unrelated (racing) news, posting links to other videos etc. should go in the forums… Isn’t that why they were created in the first place, to have a place for off-topic chat?
Kim
Took it all in stride didn’t he? :) Apparently I have missed some bickering and stuff. What has everyone been fighting about???
♥♥ Auntie Judy aka JAG ♥♥
@ KIM – if you were to go back on some blogs… You don’t want to know!! I guess some people don’t have a life and choose to bicker on here – sad, very, very sad :-(

Thanks so much for the photos and videos! Z12 seems to be a real gentleman. I also loved seeing the pretty kitty in the second video. It’s so kind of the Lane’s End folks to continue to update us on our beloved Zenyatta and her handsome son. BTW Ms. Z is getting big! I can’t wait to see and hear about Z13!

Wow! Another blog post, and I am late checking in. Lane’s End, thank you for everything. Thank you for encouraging the serenity we all have come to expect here.
And thank you for these amazing pictures/videos. Every time I see new pictures, I am stunned by how BIG our boy is getting. And such a GOOD boy. Kudos to everyone on the team. I don’t know of a higher compliment that I could offer rather than to say if I had a really expensive horse (not that they are not all worthwhile in their own right), I would feel perfectly at ease placing him/her at Lane’s End.
It’s great to see so many new Dumplings posting. Hugs to all.

When did the thoroughbreds start wearing shoes on their feet? I was watching a movie that was supposed to take place in the 1600’s and I saw some shoes on a horse. I didn’t know whether this was a mistake or if they actually had shoes put on their horses back then.
Thanks.
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Hoof protection has been used for over 2000 years, although early protection seems to have consisted of tied-on booties with a solid sole, used by early Asian horsemen and by the Romans. Nailed-on shoes were certainly in use by the early 10th century, although there is some evidence that they may have been used earlier.
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Here is an illustration from the early 1400s that clearly shows a nailed-on shoe on the horse’s right fore. Enjoy.

Gosh, I love all the people who post here. Honestly, I believe I learn something new every day on this blog. Such interesting information. Had no idea about when shoes on horses first came about. So fascinating.

Thanks,Laura,
Man,look at that horse,wow.
very nice.

What a handsome young man he is! So big and well behaved
and with such fine legs. Glad to see the stable cat was there
to supervise such an important event as foot care. A good
stable cat can keep everything on track and moving forward :)

What a treat, what a treat!!! Thank you so much all of you at LE for sharing what must be an everyday occurrence to you with all of us drooling, slobbering fans. He is such a good boy I couldn’t believe it, I’ve seen older horses act up and he just stands there docilely looking around. He is going to be magnificent when all the parts come together, I especially love the black lips and nostrils.
Mama Zen with that beautiful face and big belly coming at you is just a treasure. She must have a little over a month left so soon we’ll be pacing and sweating it again. Can’t wait to see what we get this time.
Hugs and kisses to Mama and that big galloot EARnie (although his ears don’t look all that big anymore.
