For Zenyatta, it doesn’t get much better than peppermints and cool water on a hot summer day. Zenyatta received this peppermint “necklace” from her friend Tiana, and she absolutely loved it! After wearing it around for a bit she politely asked Charles if she could try a few bites.
Happy weekend!

Dear Z Fans:
I think you will love this story of Ain’t In No Hurry. As his name states, he won his first start yesterday; he’s 7 years old. His daddy, Dehere, was one of my favorites. He has a great pedigree and was bred by William Farish, Lane’s End. Enjoy. Love and Hugs, JB

Will look forward to the live stream on August 12, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. ET of the ceremony. You can read about all of the inductees for 2016: https://www.racingmuseum.org/hall-of-fame/class-of-2016

Thank you again, Judy B.!
Songbird is definitely a looker — she is stunning. I love her facial markings; they are very distinctive, especially the shape of the star which is sort of “X shaped”.
She and Mike are a good team, too!

Judy,
Thanks for the photos of the beautiful “Birdie.” She is certainly a looker and, I think, resembles her half sister, Rachel. That fire they both have must come from MdO.
Am praying for a safe trip for Songbird and Mike tomorrow. I know he will do his best to take very good care of her.

Dear Judy B.,
Thanks for the link to the San Diego Handicap. What a great race and a great win by California Chrome! Congratulations to CC, VE, Art Sherman and connections.

My goodness so much has happened lately where do you start? I think the not so good news first. RIP Whiskey and Wine. My condolences to all his connections and fans. May Stradivari and Joelito recover from their injuries and have a happy and healthy retirement. May the injury of Big Book and the sickness of Hoppertunity both be overcome. Thank goodness Beholder’s workout was canceled. On to happier things. 1) Congrats to Aint In No Hurry for his winning debut at 7 years old. I sometimes wish there were some kind of rule or practice of some kind so the young ones didn’t even start racing until they were three let alone run in events like the Triple Crown. races. Sometimes it’s really hard to get races where I live, but I finally did get to see Dortmund and Chrome’s battle. Now that was a heck of a horse race.!!
Last but by no means least, I wanted to say Thank You to Alys for more of her gorgeous pictures. Good Night Queen Z. and To Cozmic One and Ziconic Sleep well here’s hoping to see you race again some time soon. And may Princess Z and Baby Z sleep beautifully with the angels.

Dear Ingrid, Sophia and Judy B.,
Thanks for the heads-up on Race 10 at Del Mar yesterday! Shazara and Victor ran an exciting race! Yes, she does remind one of a special someone — especially with that last-to-first run. She is a lovely filly, too.

Congratulations to Shazara, Victor Espinoza, John Shirreffs and Mr. & Mrs. Moss. She won at Del Mar Race # 10. She went from Last to First. It was her maiden on turf.

Very happy for John S. and the Mosses. Miss you Zenyatta. Hope you are well.

July 24 Cherokee Devotional
A person doesn’t take care of the past in one fell swoop. Making peace with oneself comes in stages, and very often when we least expect it. But we need to do it-even if it means going back and looking the devil in the eye. We need to know we are no longer under the influence of past experiences, especially negative ones.
Time slowly but surely removes the sharp, annoying stones that have been in our shoes for years. We know we still have miles to go when something still fills us with anger. But when we can look with curiosity and disinterest upon a bad experience from the past, we know we have turned a corner. This is a spiritual turning point. Celebrate it and give thanks to the Spirit who makes it possible.
No man can claim to know what is best for mankind.

Dear Sheena,
Well, I got through the work day yesterday and certainly enjoyed the frozen yogurt afterward! The flavor was peanut butter dup. Yum! Wimbley taught the aliems how to make doughnuts! He met their leader and read to them and discussed the book with them. What a great adventure he’s been on! Little Zoe has Gizmo’s cousin Widget staying with her. They watched a movie last night. I asked if it was Benji, Zoe said no, but “dog” was in the title…Dog Day Afternoon. lol On a serious note, I was glad to hear they had removed little Ceri’s body from the nest. Hard to imagine what the living birds are thinking. I know after we had lost Holly, Nikko and Sugar were looking for her. I hope Glesni was calling for a fish and not calling for Ceri. Heartbreaking. I hope you have a blessed Sabbath. Stay cool if it’s hot there. We continue to cook here. Ahhh…Summer! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Kathy.I do tend to look on bad experiences with disinterest now.Life is far too short. The “righteous”have taken to social media to criticise Prince George for giving Lupo a choc ice!!Have they nothing better to do?Back in the 50’s and 60’s before PC and elf and safety I used to feed friend’s dogs chocolate and they all survived.William,a Labrador,in particular loved chocolate buttons. Some even said George should go to prison.
It has turned dull and dreary today.I often wondered how the Dyfi imagined Glesni could remove such a heavy bird off the nest.I hope we will get some answers this week about why she died.Someone even thought she had been shot?
Did you see how high the temps have been in Kuwait and Basra 129F and our little heatwave lasted 2-3 days!!!Wimbley has had a great time wiff the aliems.Try and keep cool.Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Poor Prince George! The pic I looked at looked like vanilla to me (or Banilla, as Zoe would say!). RE poor Ceri, I will be interested to know the Dyfi’s findings. Wow…129! That’s getting near the record of 134 in Death Valley. You’re lucky your heat wave was just 2-3 days! Bye for now, my friend. Kathy XOXO
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
It looked like vanilla to ME too!!!!

Janet Newman
I saw where Bloodhorse has also announced it as well
As usual there are those who have negative comments. I for one am glad she is retiring safe and sound. She will be taken care of and looks like she will be the only one of RA’s two offspring to carry on her bloodline on the maternal side. We always expect big things out of the progeny of the greats and when it does not happen, so many are bashing the offspring. I believe its way in all sports and sadly so.
I will always appreciate what Zenyatta and RA have done for racing, will always hope for the best with their offspring.
