I’m so enjoying seeing all the gorgeous new colts and fillies. They’re all so beautiful. I hope Red Cadeaux has a wonderful time on Saturday. I didn’t realize Katybug had been with Judy since she was 1 year old, either. Mango’s conversation with her mom just such a tear-jerker. A lovely thought that the beautiful butterflies will be Katybug. I did see the gentleman with the train for rescued dogs to enjoy. That was great! I hope Morticia gets to stay at the coroner’s office. I can see that a cat would be a comfort to so many grieving people who have to go there. Fubu is getting ready for Halloween really early! That’s good that Ryan is back. Take a few deep breaths for those Arc nerves. Loved the pic of Mary with his slice of pizza. He was such a charmer! I loved him, too. Worried about Mr No Ears with that nutcase woman. Have a lovely day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Lukas Recovering in Hospital
By Mike Kane TDN Wednesday, September 23, 2015
Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas is recovering from heart procedures in a Philadelphia hospital and is expected to be released later this week.
In a text to TDN and the Louisville Courier-Journal Wednesday afternoon, Lukas’s wife, Laurie, said he had received four stents and a pacemaker at the Aria Health- Torresdale hospital. She said that they hope to return to their home in Louisville. this weekend. More than likely, Lukas, 80, will miss the first running of the Lukas Classic Saturday at Churchill Downs. http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/lukas-recovering-in-hospital/

at Rood & Riddle now for repair – “a 1 screw type of deal.” (1/2)
(2/2) Ironicus will miss the Breeders’ Cup but McGaughey expects him to spend about 60 days on the sidelines and go back into training.
As some of you may know, I spent the last 8 + weeks doing a portrait of American Pharoah that I posted to my FB page, with 100% of the profit going toward professional horse rescues. I’m excited to report that I sold 4 prints! I’m also sending a print off to Old Friends & Our Mims for their own fundraising campaigns.
So I’m just delighted, really. I needed to take action on horse slaughter. It just wasn’t enough to look and think/say, “How horrible.” I’ve also set up a link from THE VAULT to a donation site for the same purpose and readers’ donations have saved 2 horses, contributed to 2 other rescues and have allowed donations to 4 different horse rescues so far. This article about TREVE is my 98th and, as you know, I don’t make a dime personally from the over 300,000 readers. So it also feels really good to tie my writing into rescue work.
Love & hugs to all and kisses to my Big Girl and her boys. Forever love, Z Princess.
Great work on both The Vault and on the sales of your prints of AP. Thank you for all you do to save our beloved horses from slaughter. Love and Hugs, JB
What a great video with Criquet talking about training and developing a program for Treve. The Zayats need to listen to here, losing is not bad and little problems crop up along the way, keep your goals in focus and make them happen. Just love to watch her very different training style and talk of Treve’s sting mindset to overcome all of her small
problems. Wonder if Take Charge Brandi is not going to be able to overcome the pain she has endured with her injury, surgery and recovery. Some horses never forget and are
not able to recover from injury particularly mares.
Thanks for this great blog, Abigail

Unfortunately, bad weather kept Manning’s plane from taking off and a lot of kids were disappointed. Hovis’book is out this weekend!!!He was annoyed Herman the German sent one of his “minions”to visit and he’s been working hard to get fit even tripped over his own feet!Safe trips to all horses and jockeys this weekend. There are rumours Treve is in such good form she may be kept in training next year???Sheena. http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/blog/hovis-friday-i
Hovis’ book certainly adds to the excitement of the weekend! I know He was annoyed Herman the German sent a minion, but on the plus side it was a lady and she called Hovis “lovely!” Hovis will get the last laugh with Herman by standing on his foot! lol Safe trip for all horses and jockeys this weekend. Congratulations to Treve remaining in such good form and possibly remaining in training! Happy weekend, everyone. Hugs, Kathy
I’m sure that Hovis will put Herman in his place eventually (even if he DID really like the lady :-) Great news about the new book – more $$$ for the very deserving Bransby Horses.
Dear Sheena,
That would be wonderful to have Beholder and Treve back as 6 year olds. So exciting.
The papal visit has been very heart warming but seeing all of the craziness in the US must be very stressful for him especially the heart of New York city today. He is so upbeat, positive and smiles all the time. There was a lady who was 70 years old and she said she was jewish and seeing the pope was the highlight of her life. He is going to say mass in Philadelphia. When I was a teenager I went to Rome and heard the Pope say Easter mass at the Vatican a once in a lifetime experience. Saw a photo of the 3 lb Bin Bin now black and white, such long claws and a real cutie!! Do miss the ospreys, too.
Saw the video of Ruby talking about Fly and his retirement a great tribute. So excited about the Arc.
Love and hugs
Don’t fret. When you can affect the outcome of something toward peace, do it. But stewing about those things you can’t do anything about is wasted energy.
Many of our problems would disappear if we did not keep them going with our fretting. We nag ourselves into despair and shoulder guilt that isn’t ours.
No doubt we have reason to be upset, but who doesn’t. The ideal solution is to love and let go. The practical answer is to keep our mouths shut and let the knots unravel. They will.
They do not work underhanded at all, but declare plainly that they want peace.

Happy Wet Nose Day to you, too! As you know I’m a fan of anything with 4 legs and a tail, so I’m totally behind this! I saw Katy’s message. You couldn’t help but cry reading it. Extremely sweet and comforting. I’ll look for Fly enjoying the leaves. Best wishes to A Thousand Stars in his upcoming race. Poor Fubu, he must be miserable! I’m sure everyone was stressed not being able to get on FB for 10 minutes! I’m glad Mr No Ears is in the papers. He needs to be rescued from that woman! I guess if you’re going to overdose on somethings, cookies are good for that! We’ll stay tuned for news on Treve. I’ll go right over and check out the pic of Hovis. Thanks! Have a great day and enjoy the weekend! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Lil’ Butter Tub has a name: Bei Bei ( bay bay) which means precious treasure. His name was announced by Michelle Obama and Chinese First lady Madame Peng who selected the name to compliment that of Bao Bao, Gigantabelly’s big sister. I was hoping our nation would get to keep at least one of the pandas, but I guess that goodwill gesture expired with the Nixon administration.
Dear Deb E.I thought they waited 100 days to name a baby panda.I love the name and he’s growing so fast.I adore the meaning of the name because, indeed,he is a “precious treasure”Hugs Sheena.
Deb E.
The Pandaholics aren’t happy about it either. Part of the fun of having baby pandas is the public choosing a name from a list of choices and then zoo officials announcing the winning name at a 100 day naming ceremony, and they feel robbed. The National Zoo’s name choice was Ping Ping but Mrs. Obama made the final decision to name the cub Bei Bei. One of the Obamas celebrity friends is Beyonce whose nickname is Bey, so I have a feeling that connection had some play in the name choice as well as the fact that Bei Bei was China’s name choice. When Zoo Atlanta allowed Dreamworks to name their third cub Po as a tie-in to Kung Fu Panda 2, that didn’t sit well either especially when it turned out that Po was actually a girl, not a boy as originally thought. Anyway, Gigantabelly Bei Bei could care less about his new name. All he cares about is eating, sleeping, and making crop circles on the den floor while Mei is out having her meals.
Dear Deb E.Politics again especially with the President of China visiting.I remember chosing Bao-Bao and was delighted when they picked the name.I can quite imagine fans being disappointed.I recall Po turning out to be a little girl and the twins as well.As you say Bei-Bei won’t give it a 2nd thought.I love Mei picking him up and cuddling him.Hugs Sheena

Dear Deb and Sheena,
So how does Michelle Obama trump everyone to have power over naming
the panda? and please Beyonce !!!!

The Fly looked very well. I saw his parade at the Curragh and that kick. He has not lost his edge.
Hoping that Ryan has fully recovered and will have good luck for the rest of the season. Thousand Stars is one of my favs. Great gray. Best to Jezki. He’s a trooper of a horse too.
Thanks for this article and video of CC. He’s gained his weight back and he really looks great. Glad he’s going back to Art S. Godspeed CC. Love and Hugs, JB

Good to see our girl happy and content. Hope that is a filly you are carrying, Z. Hugs and kisses. You are still very much loved and remembered by all your fans.
Considering the fact that he’s gotten so fat in the last week, I wish they could have named him Gigantabelly. Bruce is cute, though. So is Oreo, but China owns the pandas and insists on Chinese names for them. In my opinion, the winner and still champion for coolest panda name ever goes to Bei Bei’s big brother Tai Shan.
Max
I read that this panda is bigger than his siblings were at the same age. Maybe one English translation of Bei Bei is The Big Beast?
Dear Judy.Chrome saw a lot of his fans today. It seems they have decided to send him to Dubai earlier next year so he can get acclimatized.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Dear Sheena,
Great photos and video of CC in bloodhorse, I think he learned a lot from English training, too. It was funny in the video when Dr Bralmage says that horses never stop walking. They eat a few bites and walk 5 steps and then eat a few bites and walk 5steps.
So 75 daysin the pastureshould heal his foot and get the circulation back. He looks great.
And is a very laid back horse. Looking forward to his first race and hope he wins the DWC and runs in the BCC and does not have to run against AP.
Love and hugs
Seems John has not moved Coz beyond 5 FL and few works. At this rate, he’ll be 4 yrs old before winning his first race. Sad. He indicated the need to focus on speed, finally. Why not endurance at the same time like other trainers? Love John, but he seems to take small steps to get horses ready, compared to other trainers. He was lucky to have been given Zenny to train. Mikey often said she was so smart that she made her own move during a race to win. She was always in charge and had the desire to beat other horses in front of her. Beholder at her age now, is showing the same intensity, so says her owner and jockey, making her own moves without directions in a race. Love these older experienced mares at their best.
CoZ is not a champion. Champions do things on their own and don’t have to be asked or told. That is why Mandella said he knew Beholder was ready for the Pacific Classic, but he had no idea she would make the move she did, that move was the move a champion makes. No one told her to do it she just did it. CoZ has to have things broken down into little steps because he has difficulty focusing.

He’s been bearing weight on it and is still on stall rest with some time outdoors every day in the round pen. Thank you for your sweet concern. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena,
Hovis’ book certainly adds to the excitement of the weekend! Hugs, Kathy
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I’m sure that Hovis will put Herman in his place eventually (even if he DID really like the lady :-) Great news about the new book – more $$$ for the very deserving Bransby Horses.

Dear Sheena:
Thank you for our weekly Hovis update. Congrats to him on his new book.
Rooting for beautiful Treve. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena,
That would be wonderful to have Beholder and Treve back as 6 year olds.

September 25 Cherokee Devotional

Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Happy Wet Nose Day to you, too!

I was hoping our nation would get to keep at least one of the pandas, but I guess that goodwill gesture expired with the Nixon administration.
sheena.davies(wales)
All he cares about is eating, sleeping, and making crop circles on the den floor while Mei is out having her meals.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Deb E.Politics again especially with the President of China visiting.I remember chosing Bao-Bao and was delighted when they picked the name.I can quite imagine fans being disappointed.I recall Po turning out to be a little girl and the twins as well.As you say Bei-Bei won’t give it a 2nd thought.I love Mei picking him up and cuddling him.Hugs Sheena
Tizgood
Dear Deb and Sheena,
So how does Michelle Obama trump everyone to have power over naming
the panda? and please Beyonce !!!!
Love and hugs
Max
The Fly looked very well. I saw his parade at the Curragh and that kick. He has not lost his edge.
Hoping that Ryan has fully recovered and will have good luck for the rest of the season. Thousand Stars is one of my favs. Great gray. Best to Jezki. He’s a trooper of a horse too.

Lots of posts about the new baby panda and his lovely name Bei-Bei.Sheena.

Max
Thought that they would call him Bruce or Bruce Bruce.
Deb E.

Tizgood
CoZ is not a champion. Champions do things on their own and don’t have to be asked or told. That is why Mandella said he knew Beholder was ready for the Pacific Classic, but he had no idea she would make the move she did, that move was the move a champion makes. No one told her to do it she just did it. CoZ has to have things broken down into little steps because he has difficulty focusing.
Tizgood
It is not the trainer, it is the horse !!!!
