Friday Photos is back! Today we’re sharing photos Ann took during her stay at Lane’s End. Zenyatta and her paddock mate, Vixana, proudly show off their matching fly masks.
Come back on Monday for Ann’s videos of these girls.
We’ll get a flying dismount from Frankie as he wins the 2000 guineas with Galileo Gold.Huge win for trainer Hugo Palmer.Air Force Blue a huge disappointment I’m afraid.Sheena
Those chestnuts will get you every time. Convincing win. It looks like AFB did not carry over his promise from last year. We will see how it goes later on.
Whiteout stuns Limini in the mares hurdle at Punchestown.Still a win for Mullins though.Pineau De Re the 2014 Grand National winner has been retired.Happy days ahead for him.Sheena.
What a wonderful thing you and the Mosses allowed to happen…..allowing the little girl visit from Make a Wish. You have such a big heart, you probably could tell how happy she was. I think that is amazing, she could have picked/done anything, but she just wanted to see you! Watching the news here in Versailles, I could see how happy that little girl was. She will never forget that. And it looked as if you were very happy too.
Also, Congratulations on your Hall of Fame acceptance….I think that you should attend in person. That would be even better.
Take care and thank you for all the joy you bring to everyone who follows you. You are one lucky horse, to have such loving and caring “parents” as the Mosses.
I wish more and more as time goes by, that ZENYATTA could talk to me, telling me her life’s story up until now. To hear how SHE felt about her life so far, how SHE felt about her lost babies, about what it was like to have retired, all of the total joy in winning those nineteen races!
Oh, Zen, I’m sure you were FURIOUS after that Breeder’s Cup match…..my thoughts are that you knew that you could’ve won, you held that head up high, like the Queen that you truly ARE! Not Was, but are and always will be!
Mend softly, Dear Mama. The Angels are surrounding you, and blessing you, every step of the way. You are my hero, Ms. ZENYATTA, so just know what a thrill you bring to my heart, every day. Imagine? A 63yr old kid at heart just LOVES, absolutely LOVES AND ADMIRES YOU.
Thank You, ZENYATTA
There are quite a few of us 60+year old “kids at heart” on this site (I think) who are devoted followers of Zenyatta and who totally agree with you — we absolutely LOVE and ADMIRE the wondrous Queen Z!! ❤️
Leanne W,
There are many of us who are over 60 who enjoy this blog so much. It is a big part of my day to come here and read about Zenyatta. Especially like the fact that everyone here is civil. On some of the blogs and facebook sites, the way people disrespect one another is terrible. It is fine to disagree, but be polite about it.
By the way, love Versailles and Midway. Spent some good years at Midway College before it became just a college. Had business contacts in Versailles and all of central Kentucky so traveled the area quite a bit. My favorite place is Keeneland in the fall and Claiborne farm.
Dear Max.It is always sad to see a 2yr old not live up to their promise.Lovely photo of GG back at home having a pick of grass.Apple’s Jade won again in convincing style and enters the Champion Hurdle betting.Guess who ended up top trainer???Sheena
The 2000 always reminds me of Frankel’s win. Frankel ran that Rowley mile as straight as an arrow, right up the center. That was an outstanding effort.
The girls are all doing well for Mullins.
Dear Max.I always watch Frankel’s amazing win the night before the 2000 Guineas just to remind me it really happened! When he met the rising ground he was still about 10 lengths in front.Ryan said AFB just didn’t feel the same as last year hopefully Minding will be more successful tomorrow.Sheena
Max
Apple’s Jade destroyed that field. She toyed with the boys until the end and then decisively showed them her heels. Not a good day for the O’Briens. Mullins says that she was his best 2 year old in training and she just gets better. Cooper did not lay a hand on her. She won it all on her own.
Thank you very much for sharing this race, Max. She is a special girl and Willie must be on cloud nine. The race was beautiful and her jockey pulling her up at the end gave me goosebumps. She was ready for more, gorgeous girl. Hope she had some extra treats after that performance, WOW!
Keep us posted on her next race.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thanks for the replay of Apple’s Jade. Wow, another spunky girl. Very impressive. Love and Hugs, JB
Oh, so cute! Ann Moss, you are precious and the girls are oh, so stylish with their matching fly masks.
Thanks Team Z. Hope life is treating you well.
Luv ya!
Thanks, Max. Word spreads fast around the barn. It is good having a classy and smart lady like Mag in the barn to balance out those rowdy members. Douvan was sowing his wild oats. His groom gets a good upper arm workout, wow! Never a dull moment for Willie.
Max
I listened to an interview with Palmer. GG has a very nice pedigree on his distaff. There is stamina there so that he might have a shot at the Derby. He is a fine member of the chestnut club. He only cost £33,000 at sale. Kind of like Zenyatta. Palmer kept repeating that GG is a big horse at 16.2. I wonder what he would think of Big D or Zenyatta. Z’s pal Vixana looks like she takes after her dam sire. She’s a big girl too.
Ann NC
Shetlands are big too. Big in spirit.
Z and V are sharp looking in their new gear. BFFs so proud of their new masks. V has great spirit.
Dear Max.I hadn’t realised Ivanovich was in that race there was talk he would turn into another Istabraq.Someone on the racing FB I follow has picked Apple’s Jade for the Champion Hurdle next year.Very smooth win.Have you heard about Carl Hester’s horse Uthopia there has been a dispute amongst the owners and they planned to auction him with no reserve. No way to sell a horse of his calibre.Carl is overwhelmed by the public’s support. He hopes he has raised enough money to buy him so he can live the rest of life in safe hands.Someone had started a go fund me page to help.Sheena
She was super in that race. Mullins has a plethora of talent in his yard. I like watching videos of him training the horses. Unlike here, they train en masse. He stands on the ground and watchs each one. He has to keep clear because some like to take a shot at him as they pass by. Just letting him know.
I did read about Utopia the other day in H&H. I can see why Hester is upset. Selling him is strange. No reserve on that horse? Very strange.
The horses have to show Mullins who is boss!Talk of bankruptcy with some of Uti’s owners.I follow Carl on his FB so I hope we will soon get confirmation the horse is safe.No decision yet whether GG will run in the Derby he is out of a Galileo mare,They are letting the dust settle first.Sheena
Nice to see the girls in their fly masks, I have to wonder if they have been taking them off each other, leading the grooms to spend time trying to find the missing masks. It’s such a lot of fun to drop them in the far corner of the paddock. They look very happy together.
Dear Judy.It turned out to be a great day for Frankie. When I think how his career was in the doldrums a few years back. Now he is flying high again. The merry month of may is here it’s gone 1am with me.Hopefully the weather may improve.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Yes, Frankie D has come back with a roar. Always liked him. Congrats to Minding and so glad to hear Air Force Blue is OK. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties.
The woods are dense and colored in many shades of green. So many plants zipped through the blooming stage that perhaps they’ve given the foliage more energy and power. Because the foliage is so thick, everything is covered up and hidden. As a result, even the wild animals wander into strange territory.
Last night I was sitting outside to watch the cats eat their late evening snack. All three were eating at their individual dishes when another one brushed my knee. I thought, “I don’t have a cat that color.” But this wasn’t a cat-it was a raccoon! Both of us were surprised, but neither was scared. He lingered for a long time to see if the cats might leave a bit of food, but his wait was fruitless. I went to bed, the cats went on their nocturnal prowl, and the raccoon headed home to the woods. That is the country way.

JudyB,
On the Stonestreet FB there is a video of our boy Exaggerator working at Churchill yesterday and some good up close pictures of him on his FB. He is one good looking fast dude with big ears (no Roberto in pedigree.) Seems a lot of folk are jumping on the Suddenbreakingnews bandwagon.

Giving up and saying there is no use in going on is how the world thinks and acts. But inside each of us is a reserve of strength we have no knowledge of until we tap it. When life gets rough, it is time to turn off the world and its “expert” authority. If we listen, we succumb to the words of the world. What we tell ourselves builds and heals-or destroys. That alone is reason enough to see the power of being positive and the destructiveness of being negative. Which way will you choose?
I would have been pleased if you had never made promises, than that you made them and never performed them.
-Shinguaconse
Hope everyone made it safely through the bad weather last night. Know that Lane’s End kept Zenny and Vix safe. Lots of hail and a tornado here. Nothing close to me but they had to get the snowplows out to clear the hail off the streets in some places.
Still wish they would make a poster of the picture of Ann and Zenyatta. Pure love.
Dear Kathy. No turtling for me today holiday weekend!I think we all have reserves of strength in us.When the chips are down as they say!At last the sun has come out Glesni had a miserable day Blue left her eggs unattended for 3 hours and even the crows were not interested in them so they cannot be viable now.Everyone feels sad for her some lady said we cannot set her up with a Flat or feed her babies or even go on an online dating site for her.One can’t help attaching human emotions to the situation.Monty had a difficult week fishing because of the rough weather 11 caught last week.Hovis was busy working with Aunty Emily yesterday I cannot remember if I have shared his photo yet and CNSM had an accident on his motorcycle Silly boy!
The ‘Fly’ Hardy Eustace and Moscow Flyer are heading out for the afternoon to Curraghmore House for the Bluebell festival.Good racing at the Curragh today.Mango and the sissys have had a lot of gifts from Miss Donna plus Judy has a large cage and the dogs aren’t keen.I loved Zoe singing about May day. After all the rain everything is suddenly turning green over here.Remember to turtle.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO.I always manage to access the blog and not Zenyatta.com.
You’re lucky that today is a holiday over there! Typical Monday for us…what a shame! So glad the weather is better for the ospreys. Poor Blue, as you say we are projecting human emotions on her. She needs her own mate. I didn’t see a pic of Hovis. Poor CNSM! Hope he’s okay!. enjoy all the racing today. I don’t think there are any dogs anywhere who receive as many gifts as Mango and her sissies. Yes, Zoe’s May Day video was precious. All the green must be beautiful. Enjoy! Steve starts his new job today. I will be turtling as much as possible. Enjoy your holiday to the fullest. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Sheena,
Bloodhorse.com said Air Force Blue was eased. Do you know if he just wasn’t on his game or if he is hurt?
Max
Both Air Force Blue and Stormy Antarctic were eased in the final furlong because they had no chance of winning. Not their day.

Max,
Thanks so much. I was very worried.

Kathy XOXO
