Dear Sheena,
I just watched the video. Looked like she won by 10 lenghts. Crique had her primed to run and she was screaming to run. Her turn of foot is amazing and wicked. It has been so much fun to watch her as a filly become stronger and stronger. She is a gorgeous 5 year old mare. Arc history maybe in the making.
Love and hugs
So upset to hear Brown Panther suffered a fatal injury in the Irish St Leger.Michael Owen must be devastated.Think it was his hind leg I haven’t read much only saw the headline.RIP beautiful boy you left us with wonderful memories,So sad.SheenaX
Never want to hear this news in relation to any horse, but it is particularly sad for the Panther. He never had the chance to retire. Owen loved that horse. So did his fans of whom I am one. He was a remarkable creature, full of character and talent. Only a year ago the Panther won the race which now far too soon has claimed his life. It’s a terrible loss for Owen personally as well as for racing. RIP free spirit.
He didn’t deserve this nor does any horse.Michael often said he couldn’t imagine life without him.How he feels now I only dare to think. He was the most beautiful horse. The highs and lows of racing, one minute celebrating Treve’s win and then mourning Brown Panther.Fly free my Beauty.SheenaX
Max
Agree with what you say. Very glad that The Fly, Wise Dan and Al left healthy. Same for Frankel. Especially happy for Zenyatta.
Oh, what a fabulous race your Lea ran; almost, beautiful Chestnut. He is so gorgeous. Nice ride by JR too. Congrats to the winner Mondialiste. Love and Hugs, JB
Thanks Judy. I think that soggy turf hurt him. As they said on the tv show, the turf at Keeneland will be a lot more firm. Think I saw his owner, Ms. Dilschnider, on tv in the box with Bill Mott his trainer. I believe he belongs to Claiborne and Ms. D, but he always races in her colors.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
I think he ran a great race even with the wet turf. The winner most likely is used to a yielding turf. Love and Hugs, JB
I don’t follow the European races much but had heard of Brown Panther here on the blog. So sorry. It makes the heart hurt to hear of these terrible losses.
RIP Brown Panther. A beautiful boy. Seven year old euthanized after he sustained a fatal hind leg injury in the Irish St Leger (G1). Another heart break.
Dear Max.Michael has issued a touching statement about the Panther saying those 7years he spent with him can never be repeated. He was there at his birth and to give him his last kiss goodbye.I was pretty annoyed they did’nt even mention him on the Curragh FB.I asked them was it a side of racing they didn’t bother to comment on Aidan won the race again.Thank God we have so many of our horses enjoying their retirement.Did you see the message about Kauto’s white rose?Sheena
I saw those comments from Michael Owen. This is a tragedy for him, a loss that will not go away. They had three vets on hand when the horse passed. Very sad that he could not be saved. You are right. He was a beauty. I will always remember the day that he bolted at Woodbine and it took 3 outriders to bring him back. He raced the entire course on his own. It was a beautiful sight to see a horse run so free like that. Must be a preview of what heaven is like.
I’m happy with a white rose for Kauto. That horse was pure in every way so that a white rose might be a fitting tribute for him.
Danish Dynaformer started off okay today but ended up in 6th in the Northern Dancer at Woodbine. Interpol, a more experienced horse, won with Emma Jayne Wilson, someone you know. Back to the drawing board. DD did get some prize money. He doesn’t really need it as horse racing is a hobby for Fipke, not a business. He owns diamond mines, which pay the bills.
Dear Sheena,
Sounds like Brown Panther had a Barbaro hind leg injury.
So sad took a bad step as Barbaro did.
RIP and enjoy running over the rainbow BP.

shirlee. Your Lea ran a great race. He also won a boatload of prize money. Congrats to him and Joel on a very close second. He’s a beautiful chestnut for sure. Claiborne must be proud.
Thank you, Max. Just love this copper penny red boy. It was his first race on the turf in close to 2 years. Hope they retire him after this year and send him back to Paris to be a daddy.
He will definitely be in demand with the mares. He has won a lot of money on different surfaces. He is also strikingly handsome. That was a near run thing of a race. Very close. That was a good comeback. Turf was yielding too.
carol,
Your Rivers was third in his first turf race and against older horses. He “done” good. Hope he is safe back in the barn and enjoying his dinner.
Dear Max.Was’nt it our David O Meara’s horse who won the woodbine mile?I think I remember the name from this morning.Emma-Jayne Wilson is very popular over here especially at RA.Did you see Moosie sticking his tongue out?Someone used the photo. from another FB to post on his page.Lovely pics of the Fly parading and Faugheen looks spectacular.Sheena.
Yes, it is your David O’Meara, the same one who might be in running for the Ballydoyle job. He came over to Toronto on Thursday to be with the horse. This win is a nice one for him and the owners, the Turnbills. Turnbull’s father as you may know was a miner, who loved horses. His son is self made and isn’t a powerhouse owner like Coolmore. Mondaliste took the same prep route as Trade Storm did last year to win at Woodbine. I’m happy for the horse, but I still wish that Lea could have won it. Very close win. Lea was very good.
Dan still has the race and track record by a very wide margin. I miss Dan coming around that corner to that back stretch run, longest in North America.
Will check out Moosie.
