Thanks for the video, Judy. Bentley looks great. It is so good to see him outside & moving around on his own. Continued prayers for his complete recovery.
Good luck to Rivers tomorrow. I hope the other horses are seeing just your tail as you’re crossing the finish line first!
Thank you all so much for your sweet concern and prayers for Bentley. He’s doing really well. A few more weeks of stall rest and round pen and the vet will check his hoof to see how it’s grown back and if all is right, he’ll put a new shoe on Bentley. Love and Hugs, JB
Thanks, JB. Good seeing him rolling and enjoying himself.
Keep up the good work, Bentley. Pat, pat, pat on your handsome neck and fingers through that mane. Kiss, kiss!
Dear Judy B.,
So happy to see Bentley enjoying himself! YAY, Bentley!
Seems that life is good again for you, sweet handsome boy.

Has been so sad here. Yesterday, we had a big rain storm with lightning, and our lovely girl, Lilly, who is ‘Mama’ horse and over 30 years old was struck by lightning. Her vet had to come out and put her to sleep. She was our neighbor’s 1 of 2 remaining horses from the original 4. Now only her son is left. Over the years our neighbor and her horse family have become part of our family. Hope you’ll all pray for our neighbor and Lilly’s son – all of us. with love, Elizabeth
Dear Elizabeth.I am so sorry to hear about Lilly. My neighbour’s pets became part of my life too and I was sad to lose contact when I moved.Thinking of you.Hugs Sheena.
Elizabeth,
So sorry to hear this very sad news about Lilly. It must have been so frightening for her. I never thought about a horse being struck by lightening, but I suppose it must happen more than we know. Sincere condolences to all of you ♥
It’s one of my greatest fears when the horses are in the paddocks all day and overnight in the warm months. Angela checks the weather forecasts all the time and brings them in if there’s a storm coming. But, sometimes these storms pop up without warning. Very scary. Love and Hugs, JB
Have a very good friend who was a trick rider many years ago. Her horse “Buttons” was out in the pasture during a thunderstorm under a tree and was killed by lightning. So very sad. I rode that horse once ( a beautiful Palomino). We were out racing in the pasture and Buttons and I were winning handily so I tried to get Buttons to slow up a bit. Well, trick riding horses are trained to stop on a dime at the slightest tightening of the reins. I am NOT trained to do that. I went head over heels over his head. Glasses went one way, shoe went another. Landed on my shoulder. Terrible pain. Lucky I didn’t break anything! Walked back to the farm. Never told a sole how badly I hurt. Was afraid my parents wouldn’t let me ride a horse ever again! Nowadays When cold weather sets in my poor shoulder just aches. Think it was worth it!
Dear Elizabeth,
So very sorry about Lily. What a terrible thing to happen — nature is so rough sometimes.
Thoughts and prayers to Lily’s family, including you and yours.

Our Bubby (a blue roan QH) who is 16, has issues with his feet now, but not too bad, is leaving tomorrow. We are loaning him to the local therapeutic riding school. What a beautiful way for the older horse to live out his life, helping others. He had to go through many tests and passed with flying colors. We are so honored to be able to do this.

Dear Tizgood.Poor Gleneagles has had a difficult season weatherwise.Controversial stewards decision in the St leger Andrea was in tears but they are appealing.Hugs Sheena
Dear Sheena,
So glad they are appealing. John F Kennedy seems to have lost a step. I think it was Fantastic Rock that blew by him with that fantastic Euro turn of foot. Just left him in his wake. Just love that turn of foot, just so wicked. The Champions stakes is on at 12:45 pm here am so happy the are having it on her. The announcers were talking about going to Ireland snd doing a trip of race tracks and making jokes about not having any good places to have a good drink.
Love and hugs
Adian said Gleneagles has very low leg action and that he would not tolerate any shift in the top of the ground. It is too bad you don’t have any synthetic racing as there would be a stable surface for those who need a firm surface to run on.
Dear Sheena,
Oh, you are right sad for Gleneagles, wonder why he did not come to Arlington, not very prestgious for a 3 year old. So hope GH keeps the race, is it raining?
Love and hugs
Dear Tizgood.Gleneagles may run at Longchamp tomorrow.I just saw the replay GH certainly bumped Free Eagle.Frankie said they kept the race because of Found getting 2nd.Sad to see CDA came in last.Hugs Sheena.
Judy B. CDA says that he’s okay – je vais bien – and that the result was not so bad as a return to racing. Also he’s got wifi where he’s staying.
Max
JudyB. Misread that post from CDA. There is no wifi. He must have 4G instead because he’s posting on his Facebook to reassure his fans that he’s not going anywhere. That horse is incredible. A real warrior. Too bad that they don’t allow geldings in the Arc.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thanks for this good news update on CDA. What a classy guy! Love and Hugs, JB
HorseCenter – The Wonderful Racing Career of Wise Dan [VIDEO]
September 11, 2015
In today’s special edition of HorseCenter, Brian and Matt pay tribute to the great racing career of the two-time Horse of the Year, Wise Dan. A dominant champion as a turf miler, he also found success on synthetic surfaces, and on the dirt at Churchill Downs http://www.horseracingnation.com/blogs/HorseCenter/HorseCenter_The_Wonderful_Racing_Career_of_Wise_Dan_VIDEO_123
Keta. Many thanks as always. Liked that reference to Zenyatta and Wise Dan both knowing how to get to the wire. Missing Danny this weekend. Think that he could have won at Woodbine.
Thank you for this. Really great tribute to Danny. Agree with Max, I think Danny would have won the Woodbine Mile. He owned that race. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Keta.A wonderful tribute to Wise Dan.A champion on all surfaces and he beat the euros!I know how you will all miss him but it was time to say goodbye.Enjoy your retirement Dan no one deserves it more.Hugs Sheena.
Dear Sheena,
Poor GH spooked at such a speed so glad Frankie was able to keep control and Free Eagle was Ok. He must have been shocked and his jockey too. Glad no accident. Good call by your stewards. Missed race, not sure they showed it. Will have to see it. Now to the Arc.
Love and hugs
Dear Sheena,
Just watched the video, your stewards are so very fair, GH spooked at the shadow of the
stands and vered to the right and bumped Free Eagle. I am afraid our stewards would have taken him down. Yours are much fairer as one can not control a 3 year old going at 40 miles an hour that sees a shadow and veres off to the right. I must say our stewards need to have some lessons from yours that is for sure. So lucky no accident- great jockey’s on all horses. Glad to hear Gleneagles may run tomorrow.
Love and hugs
Dear Sheena, I read 30’s Personal Best. She is certainly one awesome gal!!! So glad 30 arrived safely at her destination. I was low in spirits yesterday, due to the memories of 2001. However, my spirits were lifted when I arrived home after work. To my delight, on my doorstep was “Ospreys in Wales, The First Ten Years”. I just ordered it last Saturday. This book is absolutely a must read. I know I shall have many hours of enjoyment.
Dear Judy, Fantastic to see Bentley enjoying a good role in the dirt. May the Force be with you Bentley.
Ann NC and others. Some results from Woodbine about win and you’re in to the Breeders’ Cup. Catch A Glimpse takes victory for 2 year old fillies in the Natalma. She’s a member of the chestnut club with a Ziconic look to her blaze. Nice win.
Thank you, Max.
JB, Max and Z fans, what a beautiful baby girl and congrats!
The only racing I was able to view today was when she was in the winner’s circle and fell in love with her, gorgeous smart filly!
Yes, Coz and Zi, you guys are next.
Those folks at Woodlawn in their jackets, brrrrrr. Gorgeous turf there.
What a day for mudders on the east coast.
Dear Mary Margaret.I was thrilled to hear 30(05) arrived back safely and was on her favourite perch the next morning. It’s incredible to think she flew nearly 3000 miles in about 11 days. It’s a joy to watch and learn about these beautiful birds.I hope you will have hours of enjoyment from your book.Indeed yesterday was a sad day worldwide.Love and hugs Sheena.
Gleneagles will get some good luck with a firm turf his next time out. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties
Dear Judy.I see Max was able to give you news of CDA.I have just visited his FB now and he is fine.We really had a couple of messy races today with GH keeping his race and Simple Verse losing hers. They are going to appeal though.I know she bumped into Bondi but so did GH collide with Free Eagle. Stewards!!!!Treve tomorrow.Bonne chance ma petite etoile.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs Sheena.
Dear Sheena,
The Bloodhorse article on GH does not mention what Gosden told the stewards that GH spooked at the shadow of the stands. It just says he slammed into Free Eagle who lost his breath- out journslists don’t rven tell the whole story. Go figure !!! I think the stewards made the right decision you can see GH spook when he sees the shadow of the stands. Frankie did nothing with his riding to cause him to veer.
Love and hugs
I guess stewards are controversial everywhere. Godspeed Treve tomorrow. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties
Dear Sheena,
Not sure if you saw on you tube they have the St Leger stewards inquiry video taped with the two jockey’s talking and the video replay, very interesting to hear as they talk to the stewards together in person. Our jockey’s talk individually by phone so they don’t hear what the other one is saying. Yours is more confrontational. Very interesting to hear. The stewards did not say anything in the video.
Love and hugs
Congratulations to Flavia Pennetta on her superb win in the US open(tennis).Aged 33 she then promptly retired,She beat Roberta Vinci who put out Serena in the semi-finals.The men tomorrow Federer and Djokovic a repeat of the Wimbledon final.Sheena.
Dear Judy,
Just read where Noble Bird was injured in his last race. The report though, did sound encouraging. So hope he will be OK. He has been sent to Ocala. I hope to find out maybe where he is down there if he is still there. And you know I’ve got three more of my favorites that I am so hoping are just being rested. Night Prowler, Maverick Wave and my favorite Bad Boy, Gold Ship. I read some rather cute comments about him. His trainer said he didn’t know What Was Going On In His Head During his last race gate tantrum. He said we can’t talk to him and get a reply. Too Cute.
There was some talk that Gold Ship would go to the Arc again. Last I heard there may not be any Japanese horses at all in the Arc this year. Of the five original entries, only Rouge Buck, a filly, was still on the roster in early August. I have not seen an update since then.
Gold Ship is very quirky. No one knows how he will behave on any given day. In some races, he decides on his own whether he wants to race or not. All of a sudden he slows down. He also can act up at the gate. They often use a blindfold to get him to load into the gate. On other days, he’s just fine and cooperates without any issues. He’s very moody, but extremely talented. He’s a handsome gray too.
Thanks for the info on Gold Ship. Apparently his trainer has a good sense of humor, as Peggy posted above, he didn’t know what’s going on in his (Gold Ship’s) head during his last gate race tantrum. Gotta love the attitude. Love and Hugs, JB
It is good to keep the promises we make to ourselves to enjoy a peaceful hour. How long has it been? How long has it been since we walked on a grassy hillside and watched the shadows hover and move?
Walking is good for the legs-but it does wonders for the soul. The autumn season is one of the best times to walk and think. There is a rhythm in the earth that rises into our feet when we walk. In it is healing and it centers the soul so that the cares of the world cannot get in to destroy peace. And peace has so many side effects. It restores youth and gives perspective to a world-weary mind.
The Great Spirit made these mountains and rivers for us, and all this land.

Dear Kathy.Welcome home!I love walking and kicking up the leaves in autumn. There is always a certain sadness to the”dying time of the year” but a beauty as well.Hope you enjoyed your break and your auntie is recovering well.Did Holly enjoy her birthday? All our furbabies are well.Wookie is getting over his surgery and Fubu is very bright these days!Judy is going away again Mango is none too pleased!!She’s off to meet up with her biker friends in North Carolina. They all get some treats yesterday loads of onesies and toys.bird.Poor Ray is still losing furiends but Jack O celebrated his 5th birthday! The ratties have more licenses but Fibbs got into trouble with grape juice in RI he got off with a warning from the po-po!It’s still very hot in CA and Dolly’s temps were 110F.She’s very upset about the papaya tree.Has dad been let loose with a chain saw??.They’ve had over 4 and 1/2 inches of rain in Nova Scotia weather for ducks as Sivvers said.He needs a canoe and some paddles.Treve’s race is on at 3.10pm very soft ground at Longchamp her sternest test so far this year.Moscow Flyer and Hardy Eustace are on their way to the Curragh for the parade of champions.Hope to see some pics of the ‘Fly’.Such a lovely birthday treat for Bretagne.A good age.Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Dear Tizgood. We get to see the proceedings from the stewards room live.It is rather comical to see the jockeys chatting and laughing outside and then putting their case.I think the appeal will be held on Thursday.Someone on FB asked if the French stewards were over here. They tend to be very strict.A lot were annoyed Simple Verse was DQ and GH kept his race.Have no idea where Gleneagles will run now.We are promised more rain this week.Love and hugs Sheena.
Dear Sheena,
Very interesting so they show the stewards inquiry on the telly and the jockey’s outside
joking. So very different, none of the jockies are laughing over here they are very serious and trainers are standing around the phone too. I think there is a special phone that they go to and they are talking to the trainer to. I understand everyones upset, though. But the stewards were correct to let GH win, he spooked. I don’t like the way Bloodhorse presented it without Gosden’s information on the fact that he spooked at the stands that is poor journalism. Your stewards are much fairer than ours that is for sure.
Love and hugs
It was good to get away. Holly enjoyed her birthday and asks me to thank you SO MUCH for her lovely e-card. My aunt is currently in a wellness center to gain more strength before she goes back home. So glad the FB furbabies are doing well. Wookie seems to be recovering very nicely. I’m so glad, had been so worried about him. Poor Mango, she’ll miss her mom, but maybe all the nice new onesies will take her mind off of it. I hope Jack O enjoyed his birthday. The ratties are accumulating a lot of licenses. Enjoyed the pic of the chipmunk impersonation. Man! 110 in Tripoli. Poor Dolly! With any luck the power will stay on. Too bad we can’t get some of Nova Scotia’s rain here in CA. Have you heard of the awful fires in the northern part of the state? Just horrible. Best wishes for Treve, also Moscow Flyer and Hardy Eustace. Yes, it would be great to see some pics of the Fly. A lovely birthday treat, indeed! Blessed Sabbath to you, too. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Treve wins the prix Vermeille.!Have’nt any details yet but she looked superb in the parade ring. Also a scintillating display by New Bay.She’ll have to look out for him in the Arc.The ‘Master’is at work again.Great to see the ‘Fly’ at the parade of champions and a wonderful pic of the Moose at his moosiest on FB!Sheena.

Adian said Gleneagles has very low leg action and that he would not tolerate any shift in the top of the ground. It is too bad you don’t have any synthetic racing as there would be a stable surface for those who need a firm surface to run on.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Tizgood Another inquiry??.We do have all-weather tracks over here but our top class horses all run on turf.I hope GH keeps the race.Hugs Sheena
Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
Oh, you are right sad for Gleneagles, wonder why he did not come to Arlington, not very prestgious for a 3 year old. So hope GH keeps the race, is it raining?
Love and hugs
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Tizgood.Gleneagles may run at Longchamp tomorrow.I just saw the replay GH certainly bumped Free Eagle.Frankie said they kept the race because of Found getting 2nd.Sad to see CDA came in last.Hugs Sheena.
Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
Did not see CDA came in last, maybe ground to firm for him.
Love and hugs
Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
CDA did not get the rain his trainer wished for- think he needed it a little muddier.
He is a character.

Dear Sheena:
Hope CDA is alright. Please give us an update when you can. Love and Hugs, JB
Max

Keta. Many thanks as always. Liked that reference to Zenyatta and Wise Dan both knowing how to get to the wire. Missing Danny this weekend. Think that he could have won at Woodbine.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear BGG:

Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
Just watched the video, your stewards are so very fair, GH spooked at the shadow of the
stands and vered to the right and bumped Free Eagle. I am afraid our stewards would have taken him down. Yours are much fairer as one can not control a 3 year old going at 40 miles an hour that sees a shadow and veres off to the right. I must say our stewards need to have some lessons from yours that is for sure. So lucky no accident- great jockey’s on all horses. Glad to hear Gleneagles may run tomorrow.
Love and hugs
Mary Margaret in Georgia
Take good care to both of you, Mary Margaret

Dear Mary Margaret:
Thank you. He’s doing just great, thank God. Love and Hugs, JB

Ann NC and others. Some results from Woodbine about win and you’re in to the Breeders’ Cup. Catch A Glimpse takes victory for 2 year old fillies in the Natalma. She’s a member of the chestnut club with a Ziconic look to her blaze. Nice win.

Dear Ann:
CAG is just gorgeous. Our Princes’ will be next.
Wouldn’t mind some of that “burrr” right now. We still have humidity in the 90s with rain here. Love and Hugs, JB

Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
The Bloodhorse article on GH does not mention what Gosden told the stewards that GH spooked at the shadow of the stands. It just says he slammed into Free Eagle who lost his breath- out journslists don’t rven tell the whole story. Go figure !!! I think the stewards made the right decision you can see GH spook when he sees the shadow of the stands. Frankie did nothing with his riding to cause him to veer.
Love and hugs
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
I guess stewards are controversial everywhere. Godspeed Treve tomorrow. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

PS: Glad CDA is OK. Love and Hugs, JB

Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy,
Just read where Noble Bird was injured in his last race. Too Cute.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
Just read the article in Blood Horse on NB. Left hip injury. Power up beautiful boy.
Will see if I can find anything on NP, MW or GS. Sounds like GS is quite a character. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max, Peggy and Z Fans:
Thanks for the info on Gold Ship. Apparently his trainer has a good sense of humor, as Peggy posted above, he didn’t know what’s going on in his (Gold Ship’s) head during his last gate race tantrum. Gotta love the attitude. Love and Hugs, JB

September 13 Cherokee Devotional

The ratties have more licenses but Fibbs got into trouble with grape juice in RI he got off with a warning from the po-po!It’s still very hot in CA and Dolly’s temps were 110F.She’s very upset about the papaya tree.Has dad been let loose with a chain saw??.They’ve had over 4 and 1/2 inches of rain in Nova Scotia weather for ducks as Sivvers said.He needs a canoe and some paddles.Treve’s race is on at 3.10pm very soft ground at Longchamp her sternest test so far this year.Moscow Flyer and Hardy Eustace are on their way to the Curragh for the parade of champions.Hope to see some pics of the ‘Fly’.Such a lovely birthday treat for Bretagne.A good age.Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Tizgood. We get to see the proceedings from the stewards room live.It is rather comical to see the jockeys chatting and laughing outside and then putting their case.I think the appeal will be held on Thursday.Someone on FB asked if the French stewards were over here. They tend to be very strict.A lot were annoyed Simple Verse was DQ and GH kept his race.Have no idea where Gleneagles will run now.We are promised more rain this week.Love and hugs Sheena.
Tizgood
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
It was good to get away.
