At around 5.30pm today Queen Elizabeth II becomes our longest reigning monarch 63yrs 7 months and 3days.She overtakes the record held by her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria.Defined by her selfless sense of duty she has quite simply”always been there” .While so much has changed during her long reign she carries on unfazed.Today it’s business as usual ,accompanied by Prince Philip, she opened the new borders railway line. While Prime ministers and presidents have come and gone she remains steadfast as a rock. The sun may have set on our empire but the Commonwealth was born. The”friendly nations” as we are all known.Simply known as the Queen(no name needed) she has been a constant in my life and I pray she remains so for a long time to come.God save our gracious Queen.SheenaX
Sheena, In my adult life, Queen Elizabeth has been and is such a beautiful example of strength, calm, honor and loveliness. I’ve often wondered how she has always appeared so dignified and compassionate even in the most trying circumstances and times. What a fine example she is. Praying God’s continued blessings for her, her family, and the people of all of Britain, (especially including you, Sheena – as always). Thank you, Sheena, for sharing this bit of history with us. with love, Elizabeth
PS And she ‘loves’ horses . . . of course!
Dear Elizabeth.Thank you for your beautiful message about Her Majesty. She really adores her horses and everything about the countryside.Love and hugs SheenaX
Dear Sheena, Thanks for info on 30(05) from Rutland. What a gal 30 is. So much interesting info. I had forgotten that Glesni was from Rutland. Is it safe to download the google tracking app? Take good care, Mary Margaret
Dear Mary Margaret.I usually follow the Rutland news rather than downloading the app. There should be news tonight or tomorrow. The stats are great on the Dyfi FB.Nora Monty’s 1st partner was a Rutland bird too Glesni’s auntie.Mr Rutland who is 18 yrs old now was Nora’s father.2 of his sons tried to take over the nest this year and the eggs were abandoned.Hopefully he will return next year.Love and hugs Sheena.
Dear Sheena, I will look for the Rutland news. I think it is pretty neat to see who is connected to who. Thanks for the info. Take good care, Mary Margaret.
Dear Sheena, Many Blessings and many more years for Queen Elizabeth. I have always admired her, although it be from across the pond. What little I have seen, I truly enjoy her humor. And, of course, she loves horses. I suppose I relate to her humor since my father’s grandparents came from Wales, it must be in my blood. Take good care, Mary Margaret.
Dear Mary Margaret.Fascinating to hear about your welsh relations!Which part of the country did they live.I am in the SW.We had relations living in Utah my great grandmother’s brother emigrated in the 19th century.Another osprey I follow from the Highlands called Beatrice has arrived at her wintering quarters in Southern Spain. She had 2 chicks this year and is 10yrs old now.Love and hugs Sheena
Mary Margaret in Georgia
Dear Sheena, Unfortunately, my father passed away in 1974. He was the last on his side of the family. The only info I could trace as a 1930 US Census, which lists his 85yr. old grandfather as William Sargent. His grandmother, Jane L. Sargent, passed in 1919 at the age of 74. Pictures were hidden away in a box that I discovered before my mother passed in 2007. My father’s sisters, as well as, their children may have kept information but, they passed decades ago. No one ever said where they traveled from. Oh well, I guess I’ll find out when I see them in heaven. I’ll look up Beatrice. Thanks so much. Take good care. Mary Margaret.
shirlee. Just read that Lea is shipping to Toronto for the Woodbine Mile this Sunday. Wish him well. Danish Dynaformer will be running against older horses for the first time in the Northern Dancer. Both races are on the big turf track.
Oh boy, oh boy!
Yes safe trips for all.
Come on, D Dynaformer, dig deep.
The Natalma will be exciting with the little girls.
Lea, perk those ears, shirlee will be hollerin’!
Love and hugs to all.
Max,
Thanks for the information on my sweet Lea. He and Ziconic are such beautiful chestnuts. Guess Lea will have to represent the chess club on the turf since Danny Boy is going to the farm.
Lea has Joel Rosario with him. So far, no Uncle Johnny on another horse, but Za Approval does not have a jockey yet. Kaigun is another chestnut who is in the race. I think that there are a couple of grays and some European shippers in it. They arrived on Wednesday to settle in and clear quarantine. Should be interesting because that turf suits foreign horses. They are televising the race live across Canada and the U.S. There are several other races during the weekend which are also win and you’re in to the Breeders Cup.
