Thank you Judy for posting Rachels Valentina race! So exciting! Very proud of her. Love her mama! Really happy for American Pharoah too! He looked awesome!!!! Really wish he could race one more year. Sigh…..
Judy, Thanks for the replay. Big hopes for pretty girl. Sunday during the race I was screaming so loud my little dog came running from the other end of the house to see what was going on. Take good care, Mary Margaret

Judy, I totally agree with you. I had the same heartbreaking thoughts, as well.
Dear Max.As you can imagine I was relieved to see a pic of Jericho safe and well this morning.Yes,I knew they were not blood brothers but they formed a strong bond after Jericho’s own brothers were killed. The 3 females and 7 cubs were also photographed early today.
Did you hear Amazing Maria ended the unbeaten run of Ervedya today at Deauville in the Prix Rothschild? She really has blossomed since joining David O’Meara.I heard Princess Royale died today at our Mims aged 29yrs.Sad to find out a vet bought her from a kill buyer for $400 and she came to our Mims in 2006.A beautiful mare.RIP.Sheena.
I read that the Oxford University unit had confirmed today that Jericho was okay. Hope that things go well for him from now on. Same for the whole pride. Losing a key male member can be catastrophic for the pride. It’s lucky so far that it did not happen with this one.
Amazing Maria always makes me think of Awesome Maria. She used to ignore Mo. Made me laugh.
Did not know that Princess Royale passed. I’m happy to hear that the vet saved her from slaughter. No horse should face that. RIP Princess.
A friend of mine from England told me today that labelled horse meat is now selling well in the UK. Very unsettling news for a horse lover and a vegetarian.
Thanks for the good news about Jericho and the rest the pride. Hopefully, they can live in relative peace, at least from humans. I’m sure they all miss Cecil.
I’m really happy for RA and her little girl, but I’m very scared at the thought of her being bred again. Maybe I’m over reacting, but they came too close to losing her last time.
Here’s a close up of RA and Bernie’s baby girl. Adorable valentine on her beautiful face. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy,
I don’t think RA will be bred again. Too risky with all of the intra-abdominal adhesions. Just so very happy she has reproduced a beautiful baby girl and a likness of herself and hopefully a champion like hetself.
Love and hugs
Okay, the Haskell was embarrassing for the other horses. I feel so sorry for them, bless their hearts. AP wasn’t even running at full throttle and was, in fact, being held back a bit by Victor Espinoza in the stretch. You could tell the other horses in the race were trying hard, but it wasn’t enough. The Pharoah just makes it look effortless. He literally flies along the track with that gorgeous stride. One of the jockeys in today’s big race was Her Mike. I’ll just bet he’s thinking, “If only this were a few years ago and Zenyatta was in the race… OH BOY!” I truly believe Our Queen in her racing prime would be the only horse capable of beating American Pharoah. AP reminds me so much of her, not so much in their racing styles, but in personality and crowd pleasing star quality. These two need to make a date! Imagine the foal!
What a fabulous race that was for AP. We could see that he wasn’t even breathing hard on the far side of the track.
His connections are so very gracious, recognizing that it’s all about the horse. I have never seen a horse who appeared to so enjoy running (present company excepted, dear Zenny). He obviously loves his life. He trusts those around him, and it makes for a beautiful relationship.
And Rachel’s little girl is stunning, and she looked stunning on the track as well. What a pleasure to watch them. Well done!
Dear Max.It’s so sad to hear about the horsemeat but,of course, some peeps are not sentimental and will eat anything!!I very rarely touch meat these days but do enjoy poultry. and fish.Horse meat was very popular during the war but it was difficult to obtain any food then so it was an exception I suppose but….
Just watched AP’s replay great champions make it look so easy don’t they!I read there is a terrific heatwave in Iraq and Iran temps are about 71C have no idea what the farenheit equivalent pretty hot I guess!!! Sheena
I was hoping that you would tell me that this news is not true. I just don’t like this idea of eating horses at all.
It was indeed a pleasure to watch that race with AP. They had it on the NBC network. The August edition of Vogue with AP in it sold out in my neighborhood store. We got a copy just in time. It’s a great photo.
Anyone else think Rachel’s V looks alike like her mom, especially the face and ears? Remind me who her trainer is please. She is beautiful. I hope RA is not bred again as well. The public reaction would not accept it. Her mother had similar issues.
Calvin Borel was the jockey for her mother, Rachel Alexandra. Uncle Johnny was with Rachel’s Valentina today. It was JV with RV. Might be a winning combination for the future.

BGG,
Not a bad check for any of them. Have always liked Keen Ice because of his pedigree. He just had the misfortune to come along the same year as AF. Thought Upstart did well coming off the layoff.
Of course, none of them had much of a chance against AF. He seemed to be just galloping along. We are so fortunate to have this great champion come along at this time.
Dear Judy.Great races today with RV and AP.Beautiful photos of you with Lola Mae.Real glamour girls!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Thank you for your kind words. I agree, Lola is a beautiful girl; her Mama, not so much. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank and all the Sweeties
Great week end of racing!! Big Beast gave it his all just a head bob cost him the race. And today Rachel ‘s Valentina ran such a good race and winning at first asking. Reminds me of her Mom in just a smaller package, Barbara Banke has said Rachel will not be bred again.
She is lucky to have an owner that loves her too
American Pharoah is truly a great champion….today’s race looked much like a work out for him. The picture of him laying down in his stall with Baffert and Zayat with him reminds me so much of Queen Z with Ann. Both Queen Z and American Pharoah are special gifts from God and we are lucky enough that their generous owners share them with their fans.
Queen Z you look as beautiful as ever.
@Sophia Gates…..you are correct….Frosted was second in the Belmont….KI was third…I should have remembered that because I actually picked that trifecta in a contest…oh well…thanks for the reminder…

I did see that petition about stripping Sir David Scholey of his knighthood. Sad to hear about the grizzlies being killed and no one taking notice. Wish I had $36,000 sitting around! I would buy that smartphone! Monty and Glesni sure know how to fish! Bless them! Hawley D had a lot of white on his face so I guess it was probably just his age. Sorry Fubu placed 3rd in that last contest. Yes, he is OUR Persian Prince. Every time we turn around it’s MONDAY. I will be turtling as much as possible. The stores roll out Christmas so early. Sheena. Are you going after the British royal family too for trophy hunting? They have been involved in that and blood sports for many years. More recently photos of Prince Harry smiling with a gun over a dead body of a water buffalo appeared in the British press. Prince William allegedly participated in a wild boar shoot days before making an announcement about the need to conserve animals. Likely Scholey’s knighthood is safe?
I have missed everybody. Will never catch up on the posts. AP was so amazing. When I see him I get that warm, happy feeling I always get seeing Zenny. I wish I could see him in person. Just imagine the crowds that will be at Keeneland. Rachel’s Valentina made me cry. I did not like several of the comments about her legs, her build or her brother. Television people are so insensitive sometimes. Her win did shut them up, though. Zenny looks more beautiful every time I see her photograph. She does like her bath but I bet she misses her massages. I hope everyone is well. I am improving. At least my numbers are improving.
Dear Vicki, Zenny does look so beautiful – as always. I think she’s getting ‘younger’! And agree about Rachel’s Valentina. She’s a beauty and an amazing athlete. Keeping you in my prayers for improving health and ‘spunk’. with love, Elizabeth
Glad you are feeling better.
Know what you mean about the TV announcers. I kept saying, just wait and was thrilled when she poured on the coals! How do you like those legs now boys? Ha!
My friend just dropped off a jar of her blueberry jam, thought of you!

Dear Vicki:
Prayers for you to continue to feel better. Love and Hugs, JB
