      OH thanks so for posting this. She is gorgeous, and her baby too. A couple of years ago in Kentucky I bet on her, so loved her and her name, and she came in a winner….how can you not love a mare like that. So glad to see her retired, healthy, with a baby. love and hugs

    Hi all; At the Ocala 2 year old in training sale Mayberry Farm, as consignor, had eleven horses there. Sires Bellamy Road, Mineshaft, Lookin at Lucky, and other good sires you would know. I hope they had a very successful day.
    While I was there, since I could not stay like I wished to, the largest amount for a dark bay/brown colt sold for $675,000. He was by Street Sense son of Street Cry.

    I also went to the barn stalls to visit a few beauties, so I did miss some bidding and watched these horses getting ready for the stage. Came across a colt by Blame. Kissed his nose while telling him that his daddy beat my Queen Z by a nose, but I still liked him and his dad.

    Any word on Cozmic One’s first race? The anticipation is killing me!!! Although I trust John completely so whenever he decides Coz is ready is fine by me….. Just can’t wait to see him run…. I mean fly!!! What a sight that will be!!!

    And last but not least to my beloved Zenyatta…I hope that all is well with you and that you’ve had your date with War Front again…. Love is in the air for you two!!!

    Judy B and Sally B, yes I certainly remember Dottie being the voice of Zenyatta…those were the days. Judy B, thanks for that photo of Z’s brother!! Sally, how nice to go to the sales. Did you see Bob Baffert? I had heard he was there–not sure exactly when as he does not keep me apprised of his itinerary. Sigh. :-)

    There was a nice obituary of Allen Jerkins in the L. A. Times. That’s how far his influence spread. Fascinating to read about all he accomplished.

          Anne from Paramount, Yes, I saw Bob Baffert early on with a couple other men. At that time he was out near the horses are “getting ready to enter the stage when the doors open” area. So was I at first because one can be so much closer to these beautiful horses. He may have gone inside to bid or decided to disappear because he noticed me looking at him…a stalker or something. hah hah

    Z-sters!
    I hope you all saw in the Forum thread about Cozmic One the Racehorse — on Sunday John told the DRF that Coz may make his start in April — that “his mental prep has almost caught up with his physical prep.”
    This will be so exciting — I can just picture all of us godparents pacing until he crosses the finish line safe and sound. Who knows, he may even like to run, like his mama!

    The late nomination period for this year’s Triple Crown ends March 23 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
    Horses nominated at a fee of $6,000 before the Monday night deadline will join the 429 made eligible during the early nomination period. The fee covers the three grade I events: the May 2 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands, the May 16 Preakness Stakes, and the June 6 Belmont Stakes.

      So strange to pay respect to a guy that history says murdered his two young nephews in order to seize the throne for himself. Their bodies have never been located. The only connection to horses is that line from Shakespeare – a horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse. No horse wisely took up the offer.

    Was just telling Judy I have two picks on Dubai World Cup Day. I love California Chrome but have two British horses that I just love them both. African Story and Sky Hunter. Both I believe are going to be ridden by James Doyle. Sure hope California Chrome will forgive me. I have just learned that Hunters Light has been retired due to injury and will not run in the turf. Sure hope he will be OK. Just love him.

      Peggy. Both horses of these horses were bred in the UK but they are owned by Darley. Darley and Godolphin are not British. Not too late to switch to Chromie or Lea, who are both US bred, owned and carry the Stars and Stripes on their passports. Might be another U.S. horse in that race.

    CALIFORNIA CHROME worked an easy 800 meters, or about a half-mile, in around 50 seconds. I don’t have an ‘official’ time yet, but Pat Cummings, who operates the website Dubai Race Night, timed the work in 50.81 seconds.
    California Chrome, going by himself and working in darkness just after 5 a.m, had a bit of kidney sweat and didn’t gallop out powerfully, but then why would he so close to Saturday’s $10m million Dubai World Cup? When I saw him come out and get ready to work, California Chrome didn’t give me the same awesome impression he left training, say, up to the Preakness, but that was only an initial, and incomplete, observation.
