Alys captured these great shots of Zenyatta enjoying one of many snowy winter days. We shared one on Instagram (follow us @teamzenyatta), but we saved the rest for the weekend.
Z Fans,
Congrats to the fabulous American Pharoah….great race. I guess we got our Derby favorites….AP and Dortmund.
shirleeinindy
Sue,
Don’t forget Carpe Diem. He was very impressive last week in his first start back off a layoff.
I still haven’t given up on Texas Red yet. But it doesn’t look good for him.
So glad that Coz and Taco are not being pushed to make the Triple Crown races! Good owners and trainers!
Max
The Beast is supporting Upstart. Texas Red is also a contender. Still too early to know for sure who is in for the big day. Need to get points and stay healthy.

Dear Sue, Shirlee, Max and Z Fans:
Yes, American Pharoah, Dortmund, Carpe Diem and Upstart, all contenders.
Shirlee, I posted an article on Texas Red on the previous Blog page for you. They are attempting to get him ready for the SA Derby. Here it is again.
Guess I am in the minority here. I do not believe that A.P. got that much out of Saturday’s race. It was little more than a paid workout. Will reserve my opinion until after his next out. Too bad about Texas Red, he was my choice.
Thank you so much, Alys, for these amazing photos of our gorgeous Queen — she sure is a “snow angel”, without a doubt. You are a super photographer, too!
Thanks to everyone for keeping us in the loop. You are the BEST!
Hugs and Love
Zenny you look well in snow, dont get cold you can to warm in sun, i think Ziconic and Coz remember snow and like snow too, Zenny let us to wish safe travels to all horses, American Pharoah care of legs, see how you feel yourself, have rest, Rosalind, santa anita sunday march15 race 7 turf 1 1/8 miles fillyes and mares 4 year olds and up, dont stumble in gate, if you want to break quickly like in dirt races say about this to jockey before race, keep quiet moving in turns, all race see safe distance to horses around, beautyfull Zenny Ziconic Coz stay comfy and cozy, kiss your soft noses
carol. Looks like it is all but decided. The Big Beast is bypassing the Count Fleet at Oaklawn and heading back to NY. Race at Aqueduct in early April is a grade 1. Beast thinks that he needs to enhance his CV for a future career with the ladies.
When a child is learning to walk, he falls and gets up to try again. If he were to stop getting up, he would never learn to walk. His effort not only teaches him to walk but to run and skip and do many other things as well.
All of us are learning to walk in some area. We fall down and wonder if it’s worth getting up again. But we never really fail until we give up. One of the lessons we learn is that only those who are trying ever make it. We can’t let go, for someone is watching us and learning courage to do the impossible.
When the sun goes down, he opens his heart before his God.

Sheena, Beautiful and true. Thanks so much for posting. I think of my Mom often. She went on to be with our Lord 12 years years ago. It’s comforting to know we’ll all be together again down the road. Many blessings to you, Sheena. with love, Elizabeth

Dear Zenny and team Z,
Our mare, Addison’s Honor has just been bred to Suances. Hoping all goes as well with her as I pray it will with you. . . . .because, Dear Zenny!!!, you are already wearing your broodmare tag, that little round dangle hanging from your halter. I hope that means you’ve been bred and that all your team Z is hoping. Like with Zennys breeding for Coz and ZI, , they won’t announce until you are 30 or 60 days in foal. But!!!
I am already excited and my prayers and hopes for your and your foal’s health are always with you. Love, Heartiness and good health to you both!!
I so much miss my visits to you when you were just a filly, then a mare at Hollywood Park. It seems like yesterday and yet now I believe in April., you will be 11 years young. But you always live in my heart and soul as the most magnificent, and beautiful ageless filly, then mare that I ever knew.
Love, Marilyn and all of the Braudrick family
Dear Marilyn,
All the very best wishes to Addison’s Honor! Hope everything goes well — this is very exciting news for you and your family.
Hugs and Love
I just looked at the photos of the Zenyatta celebration visits in January and she was wearing the broodmare tag. So far nothing is giving us any clues as to her date with War Front! Just have to wait it out (so hard to be patient)!
Love you Zenyatta.
I’m no expert but would think she had her date with War Front around the middle of Feb. Claiborne said they opened their breeding shed on 2/10 and an early foal would probably be best.
If this one is anything like the other 3, what a joy.
Dear Max.Aintree next over here!Silvi will be running in the Betfred Bowl I think.I should imagine The Fly and Annie Power will run at Punchestown.Paul Townend is riding well these days a 4-timer at Navan today on top of his 3 wins at the festival.Sheena.
Mullins also won with Vroum Vroum Mag in the Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase at Limerick today. Short guy was riding. Glad to see that Nicholls has not lost confidence in Silvi.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Moss and their Candy Ride/Tarlow 4 year old, Honey Ride who won race 8 at Santa Anita today. She is trained by John Sadler and was ridden by Joel Rosario. It was good to see Mr. Moss and Dottie in the winner’s circle.
I was saddened to see the news from Old Friends about Ogygian. He had a wonderful last ten years being retired at Old Friends.
I think Zenyatta always wears a mare tag on her halter. If she were ever to get loose, heaven forbid, she could easily be identified. That’s just my reasoning, but I do think the tags are standard “bling” for all the horses.
Tags are only for the mares who will have foals. The tag is intended for the foal to wear. Halters themselves have the names of the horse on them. Dan sometimes wears a halter with LoPresti’s farm name. TBs also have lip tattoos for ID.
Thank you Max, but why then is Zenyatta wearing a tag even after her foals are first born and they also have tags on their halters? I thought exactly as you said that the tag went on the foal’s halter, but the pictures show she still had one, so I came up with my own reasoning. Not always a good thing.
Max
If you look at her photos from Christmas and her visit with Jerry and Ann Moss, there is no foal tag.
My neighborhood looked exactly like Zenyatta’s paddock this weekend. Thinking of her so happy racing about in it, made what seems like tons of snow in March seem a lot better.
Fly fans. It ain’t over for The Fly. He is in top shape after Cheltenham. Mullins wants to send him to the Champion Hurdle in France this summer. It’s 3 miles, 1 1/2 furlongs. He will also go to Punchestown. This horse is all class. Bite em Fly.
So much is taken for granted that it is a wonder we ever enjoy anything in its present state. While we are off chasing causes and things that look good, our nearest and dearest have no attention.
Few things necessary to us come through loud and clear. They become so much a part of us that we forget they exist-like the leg that supports us and the hand that feeds us. It is inane to gamble with such priceless assets. We should not wait any longer to speak and act with our hearts.
We must let you know we love our children too well to send them such a great way. Our customs are different from yours and you will be so good as to excuse us.
