Thank you Team Z for the lovely pictures of Baby Z. It’s wonderful to see she is well and enjoying herself with her friends.
Watched the race of Coz and very proud of him. He encountered traffic. In fact there was some bumping along the way. It was tight and rough for the other horses too. Could have been dangerous. I have faith Coz will find the way and be a winner.
Sending Zenny, her boys and little girl love and good wishes!
We’re gonna have to hunker down here. What a massive storm on the horizon. People from Florida already coming here to South Georgia. Hear Hotels already booking up. They’ll have to put the Florida horses on Vans and head North. LOL I know Classic Empire does not like change, but he might have to get on a van again. Seriously they did bring some horses to Ga a few years back when one of the bad storms came. Safety to all. Marshall you be careful too. Don’t know where its headed yet.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Thanks, Peggy!
I sure hope Irma doesn’t head this way — or anywhere else for that matter! Just disappear, please. One can only hope, pray and be prepared for whatever comes our way. God bless us all, great and small.
All the best to both you in Ga. and to Pattie in S.C.! Stay safe.
Prayers for all who have already been affected by this mega-storm.
Hugs and Love
Max
Stay safe all of you in the potential path of this storm. Thinking of you and hoping for the best.
Peggy, I am in the upstate of SC & we are preparing here as well. My husband cut trees that were near our barn last week, just in case Irma came this way. I hope & Pray everyone is safe in this “Monster” of a storm.
Practical Joke to Ashford Stud for 2018
Multiple grade 1-winning son of Into Mischief will enter stud at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky., the global operation announced Sept. 5. Practical Joke will likely make his next start in the Las Vegas Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1).
BloodHorse News Alert 5 September, 2017
30(05) the Rutland osprey always amazes me day 9 of her migration and she is only 500 miles from her wintering grounds. She will easily cover those last miles in two days given good weather Home sweet home!La Figlia is a 2nd on her debut at Kempton she took a while to get going but she has inherited her sire’s fabulous stride.By Frankel out of Finsceal Beo.
DARN! I just now got to see the replay of Coz’ race. I too think something is just not right. Coz and Ziconic don’t run like their mom. So what? Let them run the way they want to and put someone else on them. How about a bit more distance and a different jockey?
Our little prinzess looks like she’s not going to take a lot of guff from the other girls and it will be exciting to see her run. Although its way too early, I also wanted to say to Z18 sleep well you’ve got one of the best Mom’s ever.
Why do late in the breeding season? Why into Mischief?
Max
Into Mischief is a leading sire. Not that late a breeding date as 17Z arrived a little earlier than expected. May foals have done well. Northern Dancer is an example. Muchie was born in June. Hope all goes well for Zenyatta.
Love you Coz.
Victor, thanks for keeping him safe and sound as the bumper car maidens played out in front of you. Wow, that was a disaster waiting to happen.
Good job closing the gap. That pace, wow, by 8 and 12.
Watch over them, Racing Gods.
Winx’s 19th … Almost Too Much Excitement
Monday, September 4, 2017 AusHorse
Nerve wracking – there’s no other way to describe it.
Let’s face it, we all thought Winx had gotten the unbelievably bad run (missing the kick by five lengths) / incredibly great run (winning regardless!) out of her system in the Group Two Warwick Stakes two weeks ago. https://www.aushorse.com.au/winx-19-wins/
Dear Judy.We have waited a long time to see La Figlia and she is now with Jeremy Noseda. It took her awhile to get into her stride but she looks promising.Thinking of all those in the pathway of Hurricane Irma.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley Willow and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
So nice she’s out “with the girls” She is beautiful like her dam…Wishing them all the best. Thanks so much for continuing to send the photos and keeping us up to date on Zenny as well…Maybe a year off from breeding?
As explained below, there is a metal tag that reads “Zenyatta ’17” on it attached to the foal’s halter. This is Lane’s End’s way of tagging foals, different farms use different methods but they are not tattooed at this age. They won’t be tattooed until they are officially registered with the JC.
And really, despite how big a facility Lane’s End is, I am willing to bet that Charles could pick out every single foal in a field with a pair of binoculars and recite their immediate family lineage from memory.
Also at this age there is very little risk of foal and dam being accidentally separated. That is a risk in the first few days of life, before the foal fully imprints on it’s dam.
Thank you for the info on foal tags used by Lane’s End. Always learn something from your posts. Didn’t realize Mama’s full name was engraved on the tag, plus the year of birth. Makes more sense as mares could have names beginning with the same letter. Love and Hugs, JB
Metal tags (I think made of brass) are placed on the foals’ halters with the year of birth and the first initial of their Mama’s name engraved on them. If you look closely, you will be able to see the tags in some of photos. Baby Girl’s tag reads 17Z.
All TBs registered with the Jockey Club are tattooed on their upper lips, but that comes later when they’re ready to make their first start. Love and Hugs, JB
Just curious. What are the tattoos on the horse. Their name or maybe some code number? I suppose some unscrupulous person could tattoo a name of any other horse on a similar looking horse.
I bet 17Z is missing her Mama. Not to mention how Zenny must be dealing with the separation. But the little one looks very content with her new found friends.
Wishing 17Z all the best of luck. She looks like she is a nice tempered horse.
Love seeing 17Z….such a body! Even if she never runs, shehasa pedigree to drool over. I thinkCoz and Ziconicneed tohave a few sips from the Champagne Glass to ignite the inner fire to win.

This is a belated response to Delrene: your Wyoming Eclipse trip sounded fantastic! Very interesting, especially that the foal was born outside. This looks routine there. As I recall, shirlee’s Muchie was born in the field. They thought that he was born dead, and, were saying some prayers for his entry into the next world, when he suddenly got up. His nickname was Lazarus.
Thanks so much for this wonderful video link. So amazing to watch this newly-arrived little guy getting his “sea legs”! Very sweet and too cute. Kelly has a truly inspiring job.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video. Amazing to see these little Sweeties struggle successfully to stand instinctively. In no time they’re walking beside their moms. Beautiful thing. Love and Hugs, J
Dear Max, Just so very worried. This is just horrific. Wish so that Frank would make it mandatory that all evacuate Gulfstream. This storm they say is possibly worse than Harvey. Life could be saved by just getting out. Where I am at they are saying could be hit badly also depending on where it goes, but I have a favorite horse stabled at Gulfstream and I am much more worried about him. Don’t know if My Johnny is out of there. So very worried.
I understand because I’m worried too. Nothing is certain with this storm. Here’s hoping that God will spare people and horses. Your Gun is riding it out at Gulfstream. They’ve moved the horses in the most vulnerable barns elsewhere. The rest they say can handle this. Keep praying.

Having watched the replay of Coz’s last race many times, I agree that he was put in a spot that required a lot of maneuvering.
If you watch closely, you’ll see that he was certainly willing and had the speed. In my humble opinion, I think he was given a lousy ride (again).
The big question is this: Where would Coz have finished with Mike Smith up?
Just wondering…
