Nature, the expert gardener, shakes loose wisps of milkweed fluff to float across the meadows, always in anticipation of another season. But nature does this not in anticipation of the next season-winter-but for spring, when winter has come and gone. What wonderful long-range planning! Can we have such foresight?
The wisdom of nature tells us to plan ahead, to think about not only what will come tomorrow, but what will come-or be needed-in the tomorrows beyond tomorrow. Watch nature as it teaches us not to take things for granted, not to wait for perfection, not to lag when there is work to be done. Nature embraces life fully and works at what can be accomplished-though the results may not be seen for some time to come. Can we do the same? If we can, the work we do in our lives now will eventually bring spring meadows in full flower.

Songbird – 2016 Cotillion Stakes – First Place Finish RACE REPLAY
TheFoxHillFarm Published on Sep 24, 2016
Songbird makes short work of the field, stretching her career to an unbeaten 11 for 11.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8c3aG2cXDuo
Big congratulations to Songbird and all her connections, including of course, Mike Smith!
Still unbeaten!!
More congratulations to Connect and his connections! Good job by Javier Castellano.
I feel bad about Nyquist though — maybe more workout time after the lay-off.
Race Replay: 2016 G2 $1.25M Pennsylvania Derby

The 3yo division remains open to debate, as Nyquist nor Exaggerator could contend with Connect and Javier Castellano, who sprung a 10-1 upset in the G2 Pennsylvania Derby for Chad Brown and Paul Pompa Jr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2QLQfu_-4c
Dear Judy.Hope all is well.Miserable night over here heavy rains. Was’nt Songbird fantastic?I had feared for Lady Aurelia at Newmarket 6F on a stiffer track made her vulnerable.I guessed Aidan had good reason to come over.Valegro will be performing tonight they are having a great time. The pandas are growing so fast now and putting on weight Bei-Bei has just celebrated his first birthday(Washington zoo).Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
My computer is acting up. Hoping it will resolve itself. Songbird is just amazing. Maybe conditions were not the best for Lady A, but she will be back to her winning ways. Congrats to Aidan and his charge. Good for Valegro. The baby pandas are so adorable. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties
At times we friends forget the road we’ve been down together, how difficult it was and yet how good. We grew up together spiritually, lending a bit of courage and giving a lot of love. Undoubted loyalty and understanding have been with us, and we have put aside anything we could not understand until it was clear. And we have been dedicated to each other, we’ve never excluded others or forgotten their importance in our lives.
God gave us each other to care for-to heap on love, to heal every rift, and to know we are never alone. We’ve planted good seed, and now it is time for the harvest, time to share what we have learned with those who have never known love and loyalty. This is the gift of friendship to the world.
Friendship between two persons depends upon the patience of one.

Hope you’re having a wonderful day. I read above that you had a miserable night. Songbird was a bright spot, though! What a wonderful race. 11 for 11. Reminds me of Zenyatta’s races. And our Mikey was her jockey. Good to see that Wimbley is better. He’s eating healthy yogies and watching mobies. Looking forward to news of Charlotte and Valegro’s performance. I know the audience will be mesmerized! Enjoy the rest of your Sabbath. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Dear Kathy. It’s cleared here today but promises a very miserable Monday!I will be turtling all day.Yes,we all need patience don’t we?Our golden cycling couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott got married quietly yesterday.Take a look at her twitter page.I loved that she said she married her best friend because as we all know passion dies.I posted you some pics of Kate,Will and the children.George as usual stole the show.Charlotte is not very pretty(my opinion) but dressed lovely I use to have a lot of smocked dresses.Only photos of Valegro so far I had hoped for a video.Songbird is a joy to watch and War Front babies did well yesterday made me think of the Princess and what she might have achieved..The BHA are investigating suspicious betting patterns when Faugheen was withdrawn from the Champion Hurdle in February. The betting world is alien to me.Sophie finished her challenge today by riding up the Mall she is one of our nicest royals.Larry has nearly 95000 followers now.Good to see Wimbley is getting better poor Marty is locked in love his messages from Heaben. My mother swore by salt and water for sore throats too.Zoe is getting a surprise.Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs to you, kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Songbird Untouchable in the Cotillion
TDN Saturday, September 24, 2016
Fox Hill Farm’s champion and ‘TDN Rising Star’ Songbird (Medaglia d’Oro) made it look easy once again in Saturday’s GI Cotillion S. at Parx, but hard on racing journalists trying to come up with new ways to describe her ever-growing list of facile scores at the highest level. They threw GI Kentucky Oaks heroine and fellow ‘Rising Star’ Cathryn Sophia (Street Boss) at her this time, but the result was the same–a 5 3/4-length success at 1-5. ‘Rising Star’ Carina Mia (Malibu Moon), beaten 5 1/4 lengths by the chalk when runner-up in Saratoga’s GI Coaching Club American Oaks July 24, settled for second again after setting the pace. Cathryn Sophia could only manage a distant third. http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/songbird-untouchable-in-the-cotillion/
From article
Away without incident, Songbird was taken in hand by Mike Smith to stalk Carina Mia in second while floated a bit wide into the first bend. Carina Mia was asked to quicken a bit by Julien Leparoux after a half in :47 3/5, and Songbird soon followed suit and cranked up the pressure turning for home with Cathryn Sophia under an early ride to keep up behind that duo. Songbird took over under a hand ride from there, and was ridden out in typical fashion to win without ever having to dig down deep.
“She was so happy, so calm and cool,” offered Smith. “She drew away… she was having fun today, that was the old her and I was so glad to see that.”
Also from TDN article:
Songbird will now be pointed to the Nov. 4 GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff, where she will face older rivals, including leading mare Beholder (Henny Hughes) and last year’s champion 3-year-old filly Stellar Wind (Curlin).
Agree – I think I’ll have to sit this one out betting wise and just hope for a great race. On second thought – it’s one of our contest races so a choice will be necessary :-(

Dear Sandy:
Will go for a long shot to finish third for points. Love and Hugs, JB
Zenyatta, Coz, Ziconic, Team Z, LE and all Z’sters,
Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday afternoon! Zenny, I am enjoying these photos of you and Charles — Alys gets the best shots of you! They continue to brighten each day.
I do hope Kentucky has had some sunny days this past week without too much awful heat and humidity. Love you, beautiful Z!!
Hugs and Love to all!
An unrelated additional thought:
I am a devoted viewer of “CBS Sunday Morning”. I loved Charles Kuralt and love Charles Osgood, too. This morning’s show was Mr. Osgood’s last one, and I find that very sad indeed. He says he is ready to retire from hosting the show, and I wish him well. I know he will continue to be on the radio so his sign-off will still be “I’ll see you on the radio”, but fans will miss him so much on Sunday mornings. Such a nice and multi-talented guy!
My Sunday mornings will never be the same. :-(
Best Wishes to Charles Osgood and thank you for 20+ years on this news show!
Yes, I like Jane Pauley, but she does have quite a job to do. I stopped watching the Today show when they gave her the boot — I grew up with Today while waiting for the school bus each morning. It was the original morning news show back in the “dark ages”!
I don’t know of anyone who has that “folksy” soul of a poet/musician to which I have become accustomed. I will continue to watch though. Things change, and life goes on.
Dear Marshall.I heard about your Charles Osgood retiring on CBS recently.I love the radio in the mornings very rarely watch daytime telly only when there’s racing or tennis on.One of our more famous radio presenters Sir Terry Wogan died back in January and a memorial service is being held at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday. He was full of Irish wit and charm and greatly missed by his listeners. He introduced us to Eva Cassidy and made Dallas popular.Hope you have had a lovely weekend.Love and hugs Sheena
Dear Judy.Hope your computer problems are resolved.Yet another wet night here.Keep an eye on the British newspapers for photos of Will and Kate. Her dress cost £4000 today.I had to laugh at George he refused to high 5 Justin Trudeau or shake his hand!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and Hugs SheenaXWe got to see Poldark shirtless tonight Phew!!Demelza had a baby boy.
I googled Angharad Rees tonight and was very saddened to learn that she had died from pancreatic cancer in 2012 at age 68. She will always be the ultimate “Demelza” to me. She really brought that character to life with such child-like impish (in a good way) charm. She really was quite beautiful. A lot of tragedy in her life, too.
Dear Marshall.Yes,it was very sad to lose Angharad so young.I doubt she ever got over the tragic death of her son.We never watched a lot of Poldark in the 70’s but I love this new series mainly because of Aidan of course!Eleanor Tomlinson is a very feisty Demelza.Love and hugs Sheena
Computer seems to be running better today. Wow, Kate must look beautiful in that dress. Little George is a “rascal”. Poldark began here last night. So enjoying it. Hope your weather improves. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

Big congratulations to Songbird and all her connections, including of course, Mike Smith!
Still unbeaten!!
More congratulations to Connect and his connections! Good job by Javier Castellano.
I feel bad about Nyquist though — maybe more workout time after the lay-off.
Hugs and Cheers

Dear Sheena:

Dear Sheena,
Hope you’re having a wonderful day.

Judy,
I have to pick Songbird. Love the horse and the name and, of course, Zenyatta’s Mike. But could live with any of the 3 winning.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
I could live with any of them winning too! Such beautiful, talented girls. Godspeed; safe and sound. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Kathy
Dear Marshall,
Yes, sad to see Charles Osgood retiring. Jane Pauley has huge shoes to fill!
Hugs, Kathy
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Kathy,
Yes, I like Jane Pauley, but she does have quite a job to do.
Big Hugs and Love

Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sheena,
I googled Angharad Rees tonight and was very saddened to learn that she had died from pancreatic cancer in 2012 at age 68. She will always be the ultimate “Demelza” to me. She really brought that character to life with such child-like impish (in a good way) charm. She really was quite beautiful. A lot of tragedy in her life, too.
I suppose you already knew this, but here is a link about her:

Dear Marshall.Yes,it was very sad to lose Angharad so young.I doubt she ever got over the tragic death of her son.We never watched a lot of Poldark in the 70’s but I love this new series mainly because of Aidan of course!Eleanor Tomlinson is a very feisty Demelza.Love and hugs Sheena

Dear Sheena:
