Tidbit from Hee Haw–two country guys were lying on hay bales. One said to the other “You going to the dance Saturday night?” “Yep,” said the other country gentleman. “Taking a bath?” “Nope, it ain’t formal.” Some lyrics from an old Kingston Trio song which seem especially appropriate now.–They’re rioting in Africa; There’s strife in Iran. What nature doesn;t do to us will be done by our fellow man. The whole world is festering with unhappy souls–The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the poles; Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch–and I don’t like anybody very much.
The Kingston Trio song sums it up pretty well — what a mess the world is in. Makes you long for the song used by Coke ~40 years ago: “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing in Perfect Harmony. . . ” If only . . .
