I love them all but I LOVE this cross. She is one beautiful filly. She will probably run late, like Mama, may be a grass horse, and go long. Please send Zenyatta back to Medaglia d’Oro. On the tail- the kid’s know Mom’s got the flyswatter.
The photos of Zenyatta and her filly are beautiful, so much personality and the bond is precious between momma and her baby girl. Little Z is growing so fast, thanks for sharing and great job Alys.
Huge congratulations to Jelena Ostanpenko for winning her first major title which happens to be the French Open. The young unseeded Latvian outplayed her opponent Simona Halep and won in 3 sets 4-6 6-4 6-3.Safe trips for all horses and Jockeys tonight at Belmont.
These are absolutely adorable. What a lovely, rambunctious, and personality-laden baby . She is growing up so fast. Prayers for good health and protection for both. Lucky, lucky are the ones who get to work with them on a daily basis. Hugs to all, and thanks to Team Z for including us in the visual “growth chart”.

Songbird makes her 4-year-old debut a winning one in the Ogden Phipps Stakes at Belmont Park on July 10, 2017. The filly earned a guaranteed berth in the 2017 Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Del Mar with her victory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NBulm_c670
Shortly after foaling this filly was photographed with her mother Peary Shells. The sire is Frankel and they live at the Haras de St Pair.A stunning photo. http://www.facebook.com/frankelwatch/
Thanks for posting this. Pearly Shells and her sweet filly, totally adorable! She is learning from Mama already. Congrats to Pearly Shells, Frankel and all connections!
There really aren’t words sufficient for responding to these photos! Z17 is just adorable (not to mention entertaining ?). The “tail pictures” are too cute. Thanks so much to Alys, everyone at Lane’s End, and Team Z for taking and posting these wonderful shots ❤️❤️❤️ You’ve sure got a keeper there Mama Z.
Yes indeed, Mike is on fire! So glad he won the Met Mile today since he won it before on Holy Bull for whom he has great affection. It was a great win for BB, too. Congrats to MS, Mor Spirit and BB.
Hugs and Love
P.S. Ascend is a beautiful horse! Congrats to him and all connections on their win.
World Approval ran a good race today to finish third behind Ascend in the Woodford Reserve Manhattan.
Congrats to him and all connections (and ZA, too)!
Hugs and Love
Marshall (NC Broad)
Oops!
Sorry, I was reading a SBnation link about Songbird’s win, and they posted some of the other race results. They had WA in 3rd for the Woodford Reserve Manhattan. I saw the race and thought he had probably finished in4th or 5th, but figured I must have missed something. It was a mistake on the link, I guess.
World Approval still deserves congratulations, however.
Hugs and Love
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Was disappointed that he didn’t finish “in the money” but it was a good showing and he seemed to be OK after the race. Next time!!!!
Max
World Approval finished in the money. He won $45,000.00.
This just makes my day even though I’m a day late getting here!! I love these photos so much and I am so grateful to Team Z for sharing them with all of us. Wow. Zenyatta just cannot fail to lift my heart and her pictures with her beautiful filly are absolutely awesome. Thank you so much to all of Team Z. My cheers will be roaring for Gormley in the Belmont today!
Huge Congratulations to Tapwrit for winning the Belmont Stakes, Irish War Cry for Placing, PATCH for SHOWING and to wonderful Gormley for 4th!! My picks took 3 of the first 4 spots. I am SO proud of Patch!
I must say that I am so impressed with Florent for his masterful guidance of HH after losing both irons! Kudos to FG for his brilliant avoidance of catastrophe.
Wonderful finish to the Belmont. Irish ran his best and Gormley and Patch gave it their all. That mile and a half is a test to say the least. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties
I really thought IWC had it! At least it wasn’t one of his “clunkers.” I know they want to run him in the Haskell where he can show his Jersey peeps that he can run another big one. SO happy to see Gormley do so well too! There was a great article about John today in one of the electronic daily new letters, and it really gave a glimpse into just how hard Royal Mo’s injury had been on him. Wish we could give him a group hug!
IWC ran a great race. Have to credit Tapwrit and his jockey, Jose Ortiz. Timed his moved perfectly. Congrats to all the Belmont Day winners and all the horses and riders who try so hard. Love and Hugs, JB
Congrats to Tapwrit. Was really pulling for Patch and IWC. They both proved they belonged in the race. Think what could have been had Patch both his eyes. Thanks to Johnny V. for taking care of him.
Ditto, congrats to Tapwrit. Wonderful race. Irish and Patch and Gormley ran really well. Proud of all of them. Thank God Florent G and Hollywood were OK too after losing the irons. Love and Hugs, JB
Amen! All horses safe in their stalls — it doesn’t get better than that for sure.
Another Belmont in the books.
I have to say that this is the year that Todd Pletcher has become animated. Love it! Big congratulations to him, Tapwrit and José Ortiz, Patch and JV, and all connections!
Thank you for these lovely, prancey baby z pictures with our unperturbable Mama, Queen Z. So glad for Tapwrit, Irish, Gormley, and Patch coming in to be congratulated and that all are safe. Mike is such a horseman! I love to see him win and so I’m off to find links. (I only got the last race on NBC in AL. Z5z hugs to Zenny, Z 2017, Team Z, Lane’s End and the Mosses who allow us the joy of staying close to each other and Zenny.
The filly is too adorable! Thank you for the pictures!
Belmont Day was wonderful. So many fantastic races, magnificent horses. I adore Songbird in particular but also was rooting for Tapwrit, just had a feeling about it especially after last year with Win, Place and Show all Tapits and of course Tonalist (who broke my heart but who is awesome!)
Gormley ran well didn’t he. Congrats to Team Zenyatta, he showed class!
Yay Patch!

Yes, it was. Just read in Equibase race notes that Lookin At Lee and Twisted Tom clipped heels with Hollywood Handsome. Explains the loss of irons and cut on his leg. Sending healing prayers to this beautiful boy. Hope the weather improves for Glesni, Monty and the chicks. Congrats to Clarach. Love and Hugs, JB
Thank u so much for the beautiful pictures. So happy for Queen Z & her new girl. She is beautiful, just like her MOM. Stay safe & Healthy. We love U baby girl & Z team. Blessings to all, Much Love.
I’m so proud of Gormley to finish 4th in the Belmont. I thought he did really well at such a long distance. I’m also glad that Patch took third; I think it showed everyone what TP has been saying-that Patch deserves to be in the big races with the top 3 year olds. Good luck to both of these boys in this summer & fall races.
My favorite race of the day was the Ogden Phipps with Songbird & Mike. I’m really glad that Songbird is as good as ever. She is my favorite horse in racing right now. May she stay safe & continue to run another super season.
Congratulations to Mike Smith on his big day. You’ll always be my favorite Mike!
On this day in 2013 we lost one of the greatest trainers Sir Henry Cecil died after a very long battle with cancer.I always think he saved the best until last namely Frankel.Sir Henry must be looking down on us all but still tending his beloved roses in Heaven’s beautiful garden.Warren Place is strange without you but all racing fans in the UK remember you as Ascot approaches.Rest well SirX
Mike had such a terrific day at Belmont yesterday and I am pleased and thankful as he is my favorite rider! I really enjoyed the new pictures of baby Z but I hope and pray that Zenny one day gets a colt by American Pharoah. How and what is Cozmic One doing I rarely see anything on him and like Ziconic I really want to keep up with them also. Thank you team Z for letting us keep up with our precious Zenny!!!
