Sheena, I’m wondering if the photos you referenced of COZ at Del Mar are the same ones posted on the Forum. They are just beautiful. Hope this link works. You have to scroll down a bit. Love and Hugs, JB
You would have been so proud watching your 1st son Coz race yesterday! He did really well & was only 3/4 length from winning. More importantly, he seemed to be really into running to the front of the field. He is so lucky to have owners & a trainer who did not give up on him like many others would have for now. Maybe his next race will be the first one of many he wins.
I hope to see Ziconic in another race soon, too. I would like to see him teamed up with Gary again; they seemed to work well together.
17Z must be getting really big. Does she have a nickname? Have you been turned out with other mares & foals yet? Please tell Alys that we would love some more pictures of the two of you.
Congratulations on your successful breeding to Into Mischief.
Take care & enjoy your summer, Mama Z & big baby girl! Enjoy your summer!
Strange there are no comments or even a heads up from Coz’s connections that Coz was entered for his third race and after the good performance, nothing still. They have apparently decided to change the normal dissemination of info on this site. However, I am grateful that information on his entry was posted here, and that I did not miss seeing him run again.
i am becoming concerned with the lack of pictures or information on Z17! nothing posted for nearly 2 months!! makes me nervous that something is wrong. did someone take over the site who is out of town? i am sure others feel the same. if you don’t post this, i will know something has happened. you shouldn’t keep us concerned Z fans on the edge of our chairs forever!
Wow! Now that’s a race horse. I know everybody has a theory, but perhaps Coz is just a late bloomer and needed to get over the “terrible twos” At any rate after only two races and over a year off, he did exactly what I hoped he would. He broke well, didn’t throw and tantrums and looked like he was really into it. All things considered, I think he did very well and I for one am looking forward to his next race. Please keep him on the turf.
Lane’s End have announced today that City Zip has been euthanized at the age of 19 due to chronic foot problems. He was well received when he transferred to Lane’s End in 2005.He was primarily seen as a sprint sire.RIP.
There were many tears shed as Hawkeyethenoo left Jim Goldie’stable. He has a lovely new home on the borders.Wishing the son of Hawk Wing a long and happy retirement.
Hi Judy Berube. Thanks for your post re Coz reacting to the chearing grandstand, Victor was using the whip right handed. To the inexperienced runners, the roar of a grandstand grabs their attention and can distract them momentarily. Can’t wait to see how he does next time.
Actually, VE used both the right and left hand whip. This is a still photo from the race replay of COZ ready to make a move to the outside. The photo is blurry, but if you look closely, VE has his right hand on the reins and probably some of COZ’s mane and his left arm is raised up, whip in hand.
In any event, COZZIE really showed interest and a strong finish. You’re right, more distance wouldn’t hurt. I think if he could have gotten through on the rail, he would’ve won. Love and Hugs, JB
Those darn roadblocks. Great seeing Coz shift gears and still able to pour on the coals. Smart boy!

My Dear Ann:
Oh, that’s what was so impressive. He made that move just like Mama. My God, wouldn’t that be something if he headed for the Haskell. That boy deserves a brew and a biscuit. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Coz is 5. The Haskell is for 3 year olds with winning credentials. Gormley is the more likely candidate. Where is Gormley these days?
judy berube
Dear Max and Ann:
Max, you are so right; forgot Haskell was for 3 year olds only. Well, hopefully JS will find another spot for COZ in August. Can’t wait to cheer him on.
Couldn’t find any recent news on Gormley. May be having some well deserved R & R. Might see him racing soon. Love and Hugs, JB
Hi, Judy I saw the race and you are correct, Victor was using the stick left handed and right handed. My only point was that when Coz saw the grandstand and heard the roar of the crowd, Victor switched sticks in a successful effort to redirect the colt’s attention. At the time he did that, he was using his right hand. It was such a close finish, and hopefully his confidence will be boosted and he will only move forward. It’s been my experience galloping and working horses, especially young ones (although Coz is not that young, only relatively inexperienced) that their lessons continue even during a race. I love watching the races at Del Mar. I remember years ago, we could ride the horses down to the beach and let them stand in the salt water, which was therapeutic for them. That practice was halted long ago, but Del Mar brings back many memories.
Cheryl in Bellflower. I am glad that I missed the negative comments about Lane’s End and Zenyatta and Team Z’s losses. It’s best to ignore those kind of comments, just as you said. I’m glad we have a new little one to follow and when we do the change in her will be significant sometimes, when you see photos close in time, the change is more subtle. I do miss the updates on when Coz and Ziconic are running, since I don’t check in here every day, but I will have to start doing so, since happily, several posters are right on it, and post it for all of us.
Woo Hoo !!! Wasn’t Cozzie magnificent?? He looked so coll and calm before the race, gazing around just like Mama. Seemed to be perfectly calm in the gate, and just all in to the whole experience. All thanks to John;s marvelous patience—SO impressive. The whole team must be absolutely ecstatic !!
When he made his move, I began sobbing and kept saying “good boy, good boy”–I think my cats thought I was crazy, but they are, I think, getting used to my crying when my favorites are running !!
Will tell Barnaby all about the race when I go down on Saturday. Boss Mare Sue went down with another friend to ride today. Since Barnaby and Traveller cannot stand to be out of sight of each other, Barnaby stays tied up to the hitching rail at the saddling area of the indoor arena, while she rides Traveller. He is perfectly happy to stand there quietly for as long as they are working, as long as he can watch them. Too cute !!
Zenny, maybe your Ann will show you a race replay on the iPad next time she visits– if she does, you will be very proud of your beautiful son–he was just stunning !! You and the wee one sleep tight tonight and have sweet dreams— kisses on the wind to you both !!

Does anyone know if TVG has gone off the cable system? It’s vanished from my lineup. Have gotten several different answers from my cable company. but tonight the rep said it was on no cable anymore. Do know that Paul and Greg are on the NYRA cirquit now. I’ll keep checking.
Peggy,
It varies with the provider – some carry it – some don’t – it seems like they can drop a station with absolutely no notice. I have DirecTV and it’s still on there.
Sandy
I have Time Warner, now “Spectrum”, and have never had TVG. At the store where I used to work, we had DirecTV so I could watch horse racing during slow times — another reason I miss my job! :-)
Hope you get it sorted out.
Peggy, when I was shopping for cable providers, I specifically asked each one if they carried TVG. Several told me they didn’t but were trying to enter into a contract to carry it and wouldn’t have it worked out for 6 months to a year. I wasn’t willing to wait for it so I shopped around and I found one that would provide it, but I had to pay extra to add the sports package to my lineup, which worked out well since it included access to NBA games. Ask your provider if you will get TVG if you add a sports package. Good luck.
