Thanks for the link, Max.
Congratulations to Hawkbill and all connections on the win! Very interesting race.
Hawkbill reacted with much determination. A nice win for a handsome chestnut!
Here is another chestnut who is doing well. Like his name and the comments about him by his trainer. Not a bad race time either over 7f. His grandfather, Forestry, was a very fast horse.
Max,
Hawksbill sure has dad’s big white blaze and as you said a chestnut. Those Kittens are winning all over the world now. So happy for Kitten’s Joy, Ken and Miss Sarah!
Congratulations to Mike & Songbird ! I’m so glad for Mr. Porter that you won this race. I’m hoping that you came out of the race in great shape and that your season continues to be as great as your first two.
I hope to see Ziconic & Coz race again soon as well. I’d like to see Gary Stevens back on Ziconic for his next race & maybe him or Mike on Coz as well. Maybe a jockey change is what the boys need to propel them into the winners circle.
How can I express my joy at seeing Roger Federer winning an historic 8th Wimbledon title.I only wish my father had lived to see this phenomenal athlete. He won in straight sets 6-3 6-1 6-4 without even losing a set during the fortnight and he even promises to come back next year!I also think he is the oldest gentleman to win in the modern era and also his 19th grand slam title so well done Roger it’s been a privilege.
Donna z, I am 100 percent with you. Ziconic enjoyed his trip under Gary and I hope john gives that partnership another try.
Am not quite so sure about Coz, am thinking he might do well with a female jockey as he seems to be better behaved around the ladies. But maybe mike’s magic touch would be just whet he needs. Ziconic and Coz are beautiful, I hope they get another chance with a truly talented jock up! (Sorry victor, but it’s clearly not you)
Congrats to songbird, mike and all the connections!
Dear Judy.Such a special day at Wimbledon and Federer is a class act both on and off the court.Only Bobby in the nest tonight but 2 close by on the boing perch. It promises a lovely warm day tomorrow so Bobby might fledge.Moose has followed me on twitter!!!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley Willow and all the sweetiesLove and hugs SheenaX
I can see that many are following British horse racing with enthusiasm. I was so delighted for ENABLE. I really, really loved her sire NATHANIEL and believe that in any other time, he would have been Horse of the Year. (Nathaniel got the closest to Frankel of anyone.)
On that note, here’s the latest from THE VAULT. It’s about the late great SCAT DADDY who I also loved when he raced. I was absolutely devastated when he died, but take heart in the gifts he left us all, on both sides of the Atlantic:
Nathaniel only got close to Frankel once in the Maiden Stakes. After that, there was no contest between them. It was all to Frankel. Zoffany however nearly took Frankel in the St. James Palace Stakes at Ascot. After that, they changed pacemakers to Bullet Train and it was clear sailing for Frankel.
Thank you so much for this very interesting and exceedingly touching tribute to the magnificent Scat Daddy. I so enjoyed reading this, and the photos are absolutely stunning! The videos are great, too.
You continue to top yourself with each new article! So tragic that Scat Daddy left us so young, but as you so brilliantly stated, he left living echoes in his wake — thankfully.
Dear Abigail.Another wonderful article.I remember Johannesburg well and was disappointed he didn’t train on as a 3yr old but I am happy to see he is still going strong at 18,Great videos and beautiful photos.Hugs and thank you.

Wow, this article just blew me away! Mike Smith is is phenomenal.
My vision is a bit blurry now, but I am very happy.

BEN’S CAT UPDATE
Greg Jones @WOOKIE318 tweet on Monday July 17 2017
Ben was taken out of critical care on Friday,
still has a long way to go but good news
Thanks for the update, BGG.
Glad to hear that Ben is out of critical care. Prayers for healing and an uneventful recovery continue for Ben’s Cat. Power Up, beautiful boy, for as long as it takes. We love you!
God bless Ben’s cat.So happy to hear he is recovering slowly.
Churchill is confirmed to take on Lockinge and Queen Anne winner Ribchester in the Sussex Stakes.Frankie Dettori is taking some more time out to recover from his shoulder injury he has a few rides this weekend but wants to fully ready for Goodwood.Coolmore’s Order of St George is heading for an autumn campaign instead of taking on Big Orange in the Goodwood Cup.
Happy to get some good news on Ben. These must be very trying times for his new owner. Hope all works out well. Ben deserves a good retirement. He has been a hard working horse who has achieved a lot. Power up, Ben.
Dear BGG, Thank You ever so much for this update. Been praying so hard for him. Power Up Ben, Just keep getting better. Love Ya Ben.
Take it easy Ben. Not letting up on the prayers for you. You got to get back to the field so you and Festus can have some fun.
Dear Judy.We had a huge scare at the Dyfi last night.Almost a year to the day when Ceri suffered a fatal fall Menai fell out of the nest. She was trying to copy her brother Aeron by jumping into the nest perch and took a tumble.Incredibly she managed to stay airborne and eventually landed on the larch perch. She stayed there for 5hrs and returned to the nest about 4am in time for breakfast. We all said a collective Phew!
Have you seen the photos of Kate,William and the children in Poland?George was very reluctant to leave the plane but Charlotte loved all the attention.Moose came 2nd in a show yesterday he had a couple of poles down but he is really enjoying himself and Sophie is so proud.Racing is a distant memory!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley Willow and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Hi Zenny
It’s been a little while since we received an update on you. You must be very busy chasing around your precious little girl. Do you have a nickname for her?
She must be getting big a little more independent. We would love to hear more on her personality.
I wish they would try blinkers on Ziconic. He does have speed, and when in touch with the field really tries, and can close fast. I think is so intelligent, and sometimes even runs with his head sideways looking around; that if he was more focused from the beginning, he wouldn’t have so much ground to make up, I did like Gary Stevens on him. I don’t think he response to too much use of the whip. I really feel that once he gets to the winners circle, your going to see a different horse, and things will turn around for him.
BGG, thanks so much for sharing the article on Mike S. He has been my fave ever since I saw him on Zenny. His smile when he was on her back was a picture of pure joy. His appreciation for the horses he rides is so evident in the way he handles them.
But he is so much more than a great jockey – he is a truly admirable and inspiring person.
Good afternoon Zenyatta-big mama and lil’ princess….would love to see some updates but will go with all is well and you are enjoying being a little family.
