Hello everyone!

We are so grateful for the support and interest that you have shown through the last few months. From the constant stream of comments on this website to the cards and gifts sent by fans, Zenny and her colt truly know how loved they are.

As Zenyatta and 12Z enter a new phase in their lives, we thought this would be the perfect time to invite a second round of “Ask The Experts” submissions.

We’ve been collaborating with the staff at Lane’s End, some of the most knowledgeable thoroughbred experts in the world, to answer questions sent in by our readers. If you haven’t yet seen our previous posts, click on the “Ask The Experts” category in the right-hand column.

Now is your chance to send in a question on a new topic related to thoroughbred breeding or yearling life on the farm. Perhaps you didn’t get the chance to submit your question last time or you’ve thought of something new. Be creative!

Later this week we will feature a video response from Mike Cline, General Manager of Lane’s End, as well some more video footage from our trip. We also wanted to let you know…

    Thanks for the new pictures of Tasty!! I am glad that all is going well for her. Zenyatta and 12Z seem to have handled the weaning process without any problems. We love to hear any updates in their lives.

    Tasty. You look fabulous. With that lovely coat, you stand out from all of the rest. It also appears as if you are calling to your BFF, Zenyatta. Thanks to Lane’s End for news of this interesting mare. She is great.

        Sign. I am thrilled to pieces to see Tasty again. She is Z’s BFF, and an interesting mare in her own right. I see her as the Big D of mares. She trots to her own beat. It will be fascinating to see what her reaction will be to her next foal. I am also interested to see what name LE will give to 12TT, if they decide to race him. They usually have very good names for their horses.

        Tasty. Don’t be a stranger. Keep us informed of how you are doing.

          Tasty was one of Zenny’s first BBF, she has moved on.
          Wonder who her new “Girlfriend’s are” ??? She has lots to share
          now that she has sucessfully raised her first born, who will always
          be special.

        • Sign. I am not so certain that Tasty and Z have moved on. If you listen carefully, you will hear TT calling over that fence to Z to make arrangements go out together for Big Ass Beer Tuesday. Coincidence that 12Z is weaned on a Tuesday and then TT shows up on camera a week later on Tuesday? I think not! LOL.

        • Sign. Yes, LE has always owned TT. She was trained by Mark Casse and raced out of Woodbine in Toronto. Casse also trains Pool Play, another LE horse. Pool Play won the Stephen Foster last year when Bill Farish was at Ascot. I read that Casse phoned him in England to tell him that Pool Play had won. It was a terrific come from behind Z like win. Very exciting. Street Cry also won that prestigious race.

          Thanks for the link to watch Pools Play race! Maybe he took some lessons from our “Queen” on how to win! Beautiful ride, just beautiful! And what a payout! I just love these kind of races, the long shot, and the come from behind, dead last come up to win it!

          Oh yes, we could definately add TT to the line up on Tuedays, she could be hired for BITING everyone. That would be a great job for her.

        Dear Max and Z Fans:

        Thank you for the link on Pool Play’s victory in the Stephen Foster last year. Unfortunately, he came out of that race with a tendon tear. He ran such a tremendous race that day. He was rested and made his first start this year in July at Woodbine and raced again there in August, so hopefully he’s recovered well. Beautiful Boy. Hugs, JB

    I just found this site and I’m so happy. From the first time I saw Zenyatta race I fell in love with her and now with her little Prince. Thank you team Z. We love you. Hugs and kisses for Zenny and the young Prince.

      Welcome…..we are a far flung group…and site had lots of pieces…some of the folks here are young others are in their 60-70’s….lots of knowledge about lots of things…but all love Zenny and TeamZ and BigBoyZ…again welcome…

    Its so nice to see Tasty. I wonder if she had a grey baby. I’m also so happy that 12Z looks so much like his momma. Its a lot to ask from any horse, but I expect him to be a good runner. Zenny is in the best of care with loving owners and I’m excited to see her next foal.

    Lane’s End and Team Z – we are so fortunate that you participate in our Zenyatta-mania! It’s all for the good. Thanks a million times!! And especially for the photo of Tasty – it warms the heart to see her looking good. I’m sure her foal, who is now probably a big weanling, has been very well taken care of.

    Finally something about TT. She looks good and look at the first picture. She is looking for her BFF Queen Z. I hope they are continuning their talks and Zenyatta is giving TT some advice.

      @Rosemary, Darlene, sign, Judy and Ann-Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I do this just for laughs and I hope everyone is taking them that way. However, I do receive messages from time to time indicating that not all folks appreciate these jokes. There used to be a person on the diary with the handle of notafanofensign. I think I may have inherited this or similar critics. Life is too short for this and for me it is getting shorter.

        The RN club is a very unique, very very very fun idea. It really makes my
        day when things are so busy and hectic to come home and just laugh
        is WONDERFUL.

    Bodemeister has been retired to WinStar farm. Looks like it was something serious indeed. Hopefully, it’ll be the lady’s year again because colts are dropping like flies.

    Thank you for this update on Tasty. For many reasons she is so special and sacred to my heart. A huge thank you to Jerry and Ann Moss for choosing to continue to allows us so much information in all things regarding the Queen and her Prince. We are so very grateful. Thank you Lane’s End for taking such good care of them. Thank you Kyle for the photos of Tasty and friends. You have made my day!
    I hope everything is wonderful and beautiful for Dottie (we miss you) and Mr. Shirreffs (forever my families hero). We love all of you very much.

    Thanks so very much for the update on Tasty!!! What about Alys and Pirate Queen, and Sea Gull? Hope they are ok and doing well. Appreciate so much being updated on Zenny and her colt. Now that they are leading separate lives, we will be kept ever more busy, you will for sure, keeping up with them. No doubt Z12’s life will continue to evolve as he grows into a full-fledged racehorse in the future, whereas Zenny’s life seems it will kind of settle into a quiet, serene routine kind of existence, happily “just being a horse”. She worked hard for that…so happy for her that she’s in such a happy and protected environment. She still represents all that’s good and fine about the sport, and, as Dottie said, she still carries the best of the sport with her, even now in retirement/broodmare status. Hugs to all.

    Classic-Placed Bodemeister Retired

    Grade I winner and two-time classic-placed Bodemeister has been diagnosed with an injury to his left shoulder, it was announced Aug. 21, and upon deliberation among veterinarians and the colt’s owners, a decision was made to retire the 3-year-old son of Empire Maker to stud at Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm.

        Sign, I think you are right….ran him into the ground. Poor decisions w/ trainer and owners…..sad,sad,really sad.
        But….the horse is still worthy of standing stud? What an insult to all of the others that have really become greats w/ hard work and determination.
        I don’t like the way the TB industry is headed w/ stuff like this.

          So very true, I think his deal with Winstar was a political one, his owner’s connections. Sooo weird that it was announced a few week ago and now
          he is injured. Makes me think they knew their were issues.

          Why would you run this poor sweet baby into the ground???

        • If racing will be based on these types of transactions.a new name for the sport MUST be determined.

          This sport will implode w/ these so called connections.
