Hello everyone!
We are so grateful for the support and interest that you have shown through the last few months. From the constant stream of comments on this website to the cards and gifts sent by fans, Zenny and her colt truly know how loved they are.
As Zenyatta and 12Z enter a new phase in their lives, we thought this would be the perfect time to invite a second round of “Ask The Experts” submissions.
We’ve been collaborating with the staff at Lane’s End, some of the most knowledgeable thoroughbred experts in the world, to answer questions sent in by our readers. If you haven’t yet seen our previous posts, click on the “Ask The Experts” category in the right-hand column.
Now is your chance to send in a question on a new topic related to thoroughbred breeding or yearling life on the farm. Perhaps you didn’t get the chance to submit your question last time or you’ve thought of something new. Be creative!
Later this week we will feature a video response from Mike Cline, General Manager of Lane’s End, as well some more video footage from our trip. We also wanted to let you know…
that Tasty says hi!

Oh, wow Tasty looks great! Team Z you are all the best. Hugs to everyone! Thank you, thank you!!!
Rosemary McCauley - Pres/AZ/New Mexico RNC
Hello Tasy!! So good to see you looking as fit and happy and beautiful as we remember.
Allen
Tasty looks great ! At least she and Zenny can talk across the fence.Thank You Team Z and Lanes End. One question what happened to Sarah, she hasn’t posted any pictures or video in a long time.
Joan Walls
Thanks for the new pictures of Tasty!! I am glad that all is going well for her. Zenyatta and 12Z seem to have handled the weaning process without any problems. We love to hear any updates in their lives.
Max
Tasty. You look fabulous. With that lovely coat, you stand out from all of the rest. It also appears as if you are calling to your BFF, Zenyatta. Thanks to Lane’s End for news of this interesting mare. She is great.
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Knew you would be glad to see Tasty.
She looks like she is enjoying her new friends and
Has hopefully decided to retire from motherhood!!!
Max
Sign. I am thrilled to pieces to see Tasty again. She is Z’s BFF, and an interesting mare in her own right. I see her as the Big D of mares. She trots to her own beat. It will be fascinating to see what her reaction will be to her next foal. I am also interested to see what name LE will give to 12TT, if they decide to race him. They usually have very good names for their horses.
Tasty. Don’t be a stranger. Keep us informed of how you are doing.
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Too bad Big D, is still not around.
What would you do with and TT/Big D foal.
Would that be one foal to reckkon with???/
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Sorry Max,
I meant retire to motherhood from her career focus that just does not
want to seem to let go.
She does look beautiful and content. Maybe the second time will be the charm. Did not realize Lanes End owns her??? Have they always???”
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Max,
Tasty was one of Zenny’s first BBF, she has moved on.
Wonder who her new “Girlfriend’s are” ??? She has lots to share
now that she has sucessfully raised her first born, who will always
be special.
Max
Sign. I am not so certain that Tasty and Z have moved on. If you listen carefully, you will hear TT calling over that fence to Z to make arrangements go out together for Big Ass Beer Tuesday. Coincidence that 12Z is weaned on a Tuesday and then TT shows up on camera a week later on Tuesday? I think not! LOL.
Max
Sign. Yes, LE has always owned TT. She was trained by Mark Casse and raced out of Woodbine in Toronto. Casse also trains Pool Play, another LE horse. Pool Play won the Stephen Foster last year when Bill Farish was at Ascot. I read that Casse phoned him in England to tell him that Pool Play had won. It was a terrific come from behind Z like win. Very exciting. Street Cry also won that prestigious race.
Max
Here is the link to LE’s Pool Play winning the 2011 Stephen Foster. He came from dead last to win, just like our Z. Very exciting.

Max:
Thanks for the link to watch Pools Play race! Maybe he took some lessons from our “Queen” on how to win! Beautiful ride, just beautiful! And what a payout! I just love these kind of races, the long shot, and the come from behind, dead last come up to win it!
Thanks!

Great link to Pool Play’s race.
Wonder how Bill Farish chose to race TT in Canada, just curious???
Oh yes, we could definately add TT to the line up on Tuedays, she could be hired for BITING everyone. That would be a great job for her.
NO KICKING THOUGH !!!!

Dear Max and Sign:
Really great to see TT looking so well. Hope if she is in foal to Unbridled, she welcomes the foal this time around. But, you are right Max, she marches to the beat of a different drummer. Gotta love her. Hugs, JB

Dear Max and Z Fans:
Thank you for the link on Pool Play’s victory in the Stephen Foster last year. Unfortunately, he came out of that race with a tendon tear. He ran such a tremendous race that day. He was rested and made his first start this year in July at Woodbine and raced again there in August, so hopefully he’s recovered well. Beautiful Boy. Hugs, JB

Welcome Maricela. What a beautiful name.

Welcome to Z’s Fan Family. Hugs, JB
Jessica
Its so nice to see Tasty. I wonder if she had a grey baby. I’m also so happy that 12Z looks so much like his momma. Its a lot to ask from any horse, but I expect him to be a good runner. Zenny is in the best of care with loving owners and I’m excited to see her next foal.
All the best to her connections,
~Jessica

Hi Jessica….I think Tasty’s colt was a chestnut….but can only remember one early picture of him with his stepmom…his daddy was Candy Ride
Zenyen
I believe he was a light bay, like his sire Candy Ride.
carol in utah
You are probably right …at 66 my memory plays tricks
Zenyen
See if this link works to a picture of him.

Sounds right, your memory is not failing you,
But he could become a grey !!
Max
Carol in Utah. I always love your posts.
casey
from the only pics I’ve seen of him he looked to be a bay, but there also looked like there could be a bit of grey around his eye- hard to tell from the pic. And the grey allele is dominant, so…… wonder how the little mite is doing?
Debbie
I’m sooo delighted to see Tasty happily grazing with her new friends! Thank you Team Z!!!
ronni
Thanks LE for the wonderful photos of Tasty!!! i have missed seeing her. She looks great and very happy! Hope her Candy Ride colt is doing well also!
Please give Tasty a HUGE hug!!!

Lane’s End and Team Z – we are so fortunate that you participate in our Zenyatta-mania! It’s all for the good. Thanks a million times!! And especially for the photo of Tasty – it warms the heart to see her looking good. I’m sure her foal, who is now probably a big weanling, has been very well taken care of.

Tasty’s boy may not be weaned yet….he was born a full three weeks after BigBoyZ..
but that’s just a thought

How close is zenyatta’s paddock from tasty’s paddock? Can they converse over the fence.

Wow, thanks LE for the pictures of Tasty. You really do listen to our requests as do the Mosses.
sue and tony
Tasty is looking might fine in these photos. We wish only the best for her. It’s on with those thinking caps for some more questions….
Trisha-VA
Finally something about TT. She looks good and look at the first picture. She is looking for her BFF Queen Z. I hope they are continuning their talks and Zenyatta is giving TT some advice.
I wonder how TT’s foal is doing?
Thank you Lane’s End and as usual you keep us informed.
Love hugs and kisses to all

Here are today’s redneck jokes. You might be a redneck if you have ever put out a cow chip fire. You might be a redneck if your hood ornament used to be a bowling trophy. You might be a redneck if you ever had to knock down the spider webs to use the bathtoom. You might belong to a redneck church if you think Dale Earnhardt died for your sins. You might be a redneck if you consider duct tape to be a long term investment. You might be a redneck if your doorbell looks like a deer’s butt.

What would we do without duct tape???
Good ones, TC.

Mr. Grand Poobah,
You are serving the lofty office of Grand Poobah very well.
Are you coming to BC. I really hope you are.

Dear TC GP:
Funny jokes today. Thank you. Hugs, JB

Good ones TC,thanks.
Nascar is a religion and I do miss Dale,#3, the intimidator. Yes, I am a RN. JR. is making Poppa proud.
Hood ornaments,ha.

Now, that is a hood ornament! Z would approve.
Terry Crow GP
@Rosemary, Darlene, sign, Judy and Ann-Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I do this just for laughs and I hope everyone is taking them that way. However, I do receive messages from time to time indicating that not all folks appreciate these jokes. There used to be a person on the diary with the handle of notafanofensign. I think I may have inherited this or similar critics. Life is too short for this and for me it is getting shorter.

TC, there is a saying….SOB. that is Scroll On By!
As long as Team Z keeps us on, I spose, we RNs are OK, and can keep enjoying your club!
What is knowledge w/ out humor thrown in there?
Knowledge combined with humor give us HOPE!
Thanks TC GP!!!!!
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Are these coming to you in your personal e-mail, as I am not seeing them
here???
The RN club is a very unique, very very very fun idea. It really makes my
day when things are so busy and hectic to come home and just laugh
is WONDERFUL.
BOOO, BOOO, BOOO to those who do not appreciate good clean?? fun.
Terry Crow GP
Yes, in email form
Ann
I am sorry TC.
Please keep making us laugh.
Sad for them to make such an issue about it. We will not let one rotten apple spoil the bushel.
We know what barn life, track life is about and were lucky to come from that background. Good, clean honest fun and all who partake know it.
If in need, RN back-up is there. Over and out!

It’s TASTY!!! Thank you for an update on her. Is she in foal again?
Trina Nagele in SoCal
Carol in Utah and Sign mentioned that Tasty was bred back to Unbridled Song.
Pati- Eats Solid Foods Comfortably-Yay!
Bodemeister has been retired to WinStar farm. Looks like it was something serious indeed. Hopefully, it’ll be the lady’s year again because colts are dropping like flies.
Ashton
Thank you for this update on Tasty. For many reasons she is so special and sacred to my heart. A huge thank you to Jerry and Ann Moss for choosing to continue to allows us so much information in all things regarding the Queen and her Prince. We are so very grateful. Thank you Lane’s End for taking such good care of them. Thank you Kyle for the photos of Tasty and friends. You have made my day!
I hope everything is wonderful and beautiful for Dottie (we miss you) and Mr. Shirreffs (forever my families hero). We love all of you very much.
Congratulations for the win for team Tiz Gianni!
Terry Crow GP
Ashton-Always good to hear from you. @Shari Voltz-I must have missed it. What happened with your visit to West Virginia? @Marty-TVG showed a few races this last weekend from Arapahoe. Interesting.
Marty R / Colorado
Terry GP,
Wow. And it was the last weekend, too, so the big races were run. Now I wait for June, 2013.

Dear Ashton:
So good to hear from you. Hope you and yours are well. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann Maree / Tennessee
Thanks so very much for the update on Tasty!!! What about Alys and Pirate Queen, and Sea Gull? Hope they are ok and doing well. Appreciate so much being updated on Zenny and her colt. Now that they are leading separate lives, we will be kept ever more busy, you will for sure, keeping up with them. No doubt Z12’s life will continue to evolve as he grows into a full-fledged racehorse in the future, whereas Zenny’s life seems it will kind of settle into a quiet, serene routine kind of existence, happily “just being a horse”. She worked hard for that…so happy for her that she’s in such a happy and protected environment. She still represents all that’s good and fine about the sport, and, as Dottie said, she still carries the best of the sport with her, even now in retirement/broodmare status. Hugs to all.

Thank you Team Z for the wonderful pictures of Tasty.
What a wonderful surprise for us. Great way to start the day!
It’s so peaceful and beautiful out there. She looks good and happy with new set of friends. Your efforts to keep up posted is very much appreciated.
Hugs to Zenny, 12Z and Tasty!

Tasty looks good. I hope Zenny gave her some advice on her pregnancy.
Zenyen
Pregnancy wasn’t Tasty’s problem
Motherhood was what she wanted no part of.

What a lovely surprise!!! It’s great to see Tasty looking so well and enjoying her new friends and that her and Zen can see each other over the fence.

Classic-Placed Bodemeister Retired
By Evan Hammonds, @BH_EHammonds
Updated: Tuesday, August 21, 2012 3:05 PM
Grade I winner and two-time classic-placed Bodemeister has been diagnosed with an injury to his left shoulder, it was announced Aug. 21, and upon deliberation among veterinarians and the colt’s owners, a decision was made to retire the 3-year-old son of Empire Maker to stud at Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm.

This is soooo sad, such a young boy.
Ran into the ground in the Classics!!!
I think the same happened to Paynter.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sign and Z Fans:
So many three year olds injured this year. Sad part of the Sport. Hugs, JB
Ann
Sign, I think you are right….ran him into the ground. Poor decisions w/ trainer and owners…..sad,sad,really sad.
But….the horse is still worthy of standing stud? What an insult to all of the others that have really become greats w/ hard work and determination.
I don’t like the way the TB industry is headed w/ stuff like this.
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Dear Ann,
So very true, I think his deal with Winstar was a political one, his owner’s connections. Sooo weird that it was announced a few week ago and now
he is injured. Makes me think they knew their were issues.
Why would you run this poor sweet baby into the ground???
Ann
If racing will be based on these types of transactions.a new name for the sport MUST be determined.
This sport will implode w/ these so called connections.
