Q:
All horses have their quirks and preferences. What does Ziconic like? What bothers him?
Robin Bruen
Morristown, NJ
A: We haven’t come across anything that bothers him. He likes to eat, he likes to be outside, and he really likes people and other horses. He also loves to train!
Q:
What would a typical workout on the track consist of?
Does he get any other exercise at this age, or is it all on the track?
Wendy Hicks
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
A: He gets to go out in the paddock each morning for 20 to 30 minutes before he trains. During training, he gallops either once or twice around the 5/8 mile track–we’ll alternate day to day until he starts getting older and more fit. After he trains, he goes back out in his paddock. He also gets hand walked.
Q:
I was wondering how Ziconic and Coz are similar and how they are different, in training and personality. Also, is one more like Zenyatta than the other?
Kris O’Connor
Lombard, IL
A: They’re both very intelligent like Zenyatta. Coz was a much more serious baby. He arrived with a very professional attitude; he had a job to do, and he knew what it was. Ziconic is more playful. He’s a little more laid back and easygoing.

Hope you and all the New Englanders are safe and warm during the coming storm. Perhaps it will be like the one they forecast for us–seems to have died out. Take care of yourselves and let us know how you are doing.

Dear Sheena,
Awww…sorry for Andy, but happy for Novak. Yes, the artist did a fine rendition of Marty. So funny, ONE yogie wasn’t nearly enough. Hadn’t heard of Buddy’s knee surgery. Get well soon, Buddy! You have a blessed Sabbath as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

I have not received any emails except the No reply ones. I also got my first strike. I will not be with you guys long.
The racing dates are Wednesday through Sunday at the Downs. You have to play everyday. Just log on in the morning and make your picks. This is not well organized like the BC Fantasy Capping.
Sorry that it’s not as much fun.

The Desormeauxs have to be very happy, this guy is THE REAL DEAL
shirleeinindy
BGG,
I liked his race also. Very good after the layoff and the short distance. Do wish Kent would take it easy with the whip. Guess that is why it is a good thing I don’t own any race horses ’cause I would scare the jock and trainer to death after the race if they touched my horse with a whip!!!

Wow just a neck and it’s the difference from winning or losing.
Texas Red was awesome. No love lost in defeat!!!
We tried hard. 2 turns fans

I was there. All due respect to Kent, I don’t think he saw that #1 horse on the outside and assumed he “had it”! He was practically standing just before the wire! Never, ever assume you have the win!!! Heartbreaker for ALL us Texas Red fans!!!!
Max
In the case of Bob Ford, when you are leading by 99 lengths, you can assume that you have the win. Just need to cross the finish line.

February 2 Cherokee Devotional
A walk down a country road in memory is almost as good now as when it happened-and even better at times. The youthful urgency to skip some of life’s steps is replaced with patience and endurance, and even amusement.
Getting there was utmost and now we know that “there” is a place in the heart-not a place where all wishes are granted. A song and a prayer in the heart are worth all the visual triumphs in the world. A deep down harmony and spiritual joy erases all that was not quite right. American Indians call this new consciousness, “walking in a sacred manner.”
The warriors sat in a circle waiting on the Holy Man and he came forth singing a holy song…

Dear Kathy.I just love taking a walk down memory lane!I hope Judy and all in New England are safe after the latest storm. It’s grey and raw here,no jumps tomorrow anywhere. It’s Karen (hovis ‘mum) birthday today so his page is busy!I hope he got her a lovely present!!!I watched some of the SB last night until about 1.30am really thought Seattle Seahawks would win Angel Girl loved the team!Fubu’s mum is still not very well he is purrty good!Mango’s sissy’s got lovely Valentine gifts wittle Katy got a red tutu! There is going to be an announcement from Zoe and Mango.I found a cat called loki on Haven’s page and Loki has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure he’s only 2 and 1/2 and has about 6-12 months left. He’s a beautiful cat lives in Pittsburgh. So sad.Ray has had a load of snow in Boston but,of course, the dogs love it!Daddy must be busy ploughing!Don’t mondays come around too quickly these days??I must turtle-turtle!Enjoy your day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Me too! Even with the storm New England is pretty happy with the Patriots’ win. Happy Birthday to Karen. Hope Kimberly feels better soon. Mango and her sissy sure get some great gifts. The announcement was very thrilling. Zoe’s mom is going to do a portrait of the winner’s furbaby! The proceeds to enter your pet will go to Freedom Wheels! Isn’t that GREAT?!! That’s so sad about poor little Loki. Tragic when an animal so young has a terminal condition. Hope Ray and his bruddahs have fun in the snow today. Absolutely Mondays come around too quickly. Time to turtle-turtle! Have a good day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holy, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

Hi!
I especially like Ziconic’s playfulness.
Since I am not used to being around horses, then I probably
would not be afraid of him because of his playfulness.
Eager to watch him race.
Love to Ziconic, Cozmic One and Zenyatta.
Thank you!

Mullins says that Gitane may go to Aintree. Not yet decided. He always keeps them guessing on what he will do.
Max
Beastie fans. carolinarkansas especially.
The tiny horse will most likely be entered in the Hot Springs Stakes at Oaklawn on March 7. Kick butt, Beast.
shirleeinindy
Max,
Can’t wait to see him again. If he has grown more, he must be a BEAST! Good luck and safe trip to him.
Max
shirlee. We will have to rely on Carol for the details when she sees him. It was however his trainer, Tony Dutrow, who was quoted as saying the Beast is bigger than last year. He must like his food.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I thought she’d go to the festival!Mullins always likes to keep us guessing! No jumps in the UK tomorrow frosty and snow up North. All should be well for Newbury Saturday.Al’s got a lovely little colt.More snow about in the US and Nissy is due to have 2ft tomorrow!!Hope the peeps have stocked up with kitty food!Sheena.
Max
May be a change of plan for her because she booted the guys so effectively last weekend. Annie Power is supposed to go to Cheltenham without a prep. The Fly is going too. Make your daddy proud, Fly.
Racing Post said that Shorty and Mullins have a win rate of 50%. That is incredible, and even more so when you factor in seconds and shows to demonstrate dominance at the races. As a trainer, Mullins is a genius. He just keeps sending them out and they win. These horses really respond to him. He is very likeable as a person and humble. Never takes time off from caring for his horses. Knows each one individually in great detail.
Lots of people here missed work today. Not certain if it was snow or the Super Bowl or both. That game was fantastic.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I must say I really enjoyed the SB last night.I managed to watch until about 1.30 am but tiredness got the better of me then had thought the Seahawks would win.Mullins is a real genius and a kind, quiet man who understands his horses every need.I remember him having some problems with the Fly at the start and he used to say to himself “What would my father have done”and everything worked out.Valegro and Charlotte have won again this weekend again!Have you heard about jockey Mark Walsh in Ireland he’s in the lead in the jockey’s championship the short one is 3rd!He’s favourite for the top spot at the festival though.Sheena.
Max
Did not know that the Super Bowl was broadcast in the UK. It’s going to be one cold victory parade. Someone told me that the NHL is holding their annual outdoor hockey game in the Patriot’s stadium. People come from everywhere in the US and Canada to freeze at those games. They have to have paramedics on site just for the fans.
Read that The Fly’s early injuries were the result of being too much of an A personality. According to Mullins, The Fly always tends to overwork. If you ask The Fly to do anything, he gives everything. He will never take a day off. Mullins has however found a way to keep The Fly from over doing it. He once described sitting on the The Fly’s back to being on a rubber ball. He just keeps bouncing around. The Fly runs like his father, but he keeps his head down at the end of a race. Montjeu always raced with his head held very high, rather unusual. He was however a one of a kind eccentric.
Did not know about Mark Walsh. For whom does he ride? McManus?
Congrats to Valegro. Any word on Totalis?
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Yes,the SB is on channel 4 over here same as our main racing programme.Mark rides for JP now,he went through a difficult period when his claimer was reduced.I think it was Enda Bolger who said he has the most beautiful hands for horseracing.I haven’t heard anything new about Toto.Valegro is coming out to Las Vegas next. These horses get to see a lot of the world.I think the Fly has nervous energy but he certainly puts his head down to win maybe gives the impression he is smaller than he really is.What do you think of the new book about Prince Charles?Seems there may be a constitutional crisis when he becomes King.I pray Her Majesty lives as long as her mother.Sheena.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy.Keep safe from the storm. You and Lola Mae keep warm and cosy.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Boo and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX.
