Q:
All horses have their quirks and preferences. What does Ziconic like? What bothers him?
Robin Bruen
Morristown, NJ
A: We haven’t come across anything that bothers him. He likes to eat, he likes to be outside, and he really likes people and other horses. He also loves to train!
Q:
What would a typical workout on the track consist of?
Does he get any other exercise at this age, or is it all on the track?
Wendy Hicks
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
A: He gets to go out in the paddock each morning for 20 to 30 minutes before he trains. During training, he gallops either once or twice around the 5/8 mile track–we’ll alternate day to day until he starts getting older and more fit. After he trains, he goes back out in his paddock. He also gets hand walked.
Q:
I was wondering how Ziconic and Coz are similar and how they are different, in training and personality. Also, is one more like Zenyatta than the other?
Kris O’Connor
Lombard, IL
A: They’re both very intelligent like Zenyatta. Coz was a much more serious baby. He arrived with a very professional attitude; he had a job to do, and he knew what it was. Ziconic is more playful. He’s a little more laid back and easygoing.

Dear Sally B.
I too have tears, thinking of how kind your friend is and how much this means to you.
I am happy you can remember so many good times and that your heart is healing.
A beautiful reminder of Sir and that he is always with you.

From his pictures, Ziconic appears very calm and loving. It will be so interesting and exciting to watch him and Coz as they begin their racing careers. Thanks so much for sharing.
Love to our precious Zenny and congratulations on such beautiful sons.

Catherine, Agree with you about Cozmic One – can hardly wait to see him racing! Also, agree that Zenyatta’s website and her fan family have been one of the best blessings in my life. Such a great place to come for heart healing. Have you had a chance to look at the links posted in the past few weeks for some of this year’s new foals? They always made me smile. Am keeping you in my prayers for more bright spots to warm your heart. with love, Elizabeth PS Spring is just around the corner

Left a reply to your post on the previous page Elizabeth (I’m lagging behind here as usual).
Elizabeth in NM
Sandy,
Know what you mean about being behind. At least we’re all still ‘here’ on the planet. Everyday just flies by though. I’d rather be busy than not, so try to make the most of each day. Thank you for your kind words. Haven’t seen anything from Catherine (might have missed it though). I hope she is doing better. Keeping her in my prayers. Would love it if we could all just ‘get together’! Would be such fun, and mean so much to all of us, I think. I’ve never been on any website before Zenyatta’s, where I check it every day (well every day unless we’re out in the boonies – photographing horses and wildlife of the animal variety – not human). Have a wonderful weekend. with love Elizabeth

What sort of persons are we-and what discipline do we obey? Have we slipped the responsibility of inner law and must we depend on outer man-made rules to stay in line?
Every one of us needs a Prompter that lives in the heart and rules the affairs with love and peace and stability. A free-flowing spirit is needed to tell us where the limits are-and what things are right and which will damage and destroy.
Control for our minds and bodies is in our power, and with it peace and contentment. When these two things begin to fade, we know we have begun to lean on others to tell us who we are and what we can do.
You depend upon an infinity of persons whose places have raised them above you. Is it true or not?

Dear Kathy.Very cold and grey here today and yet more snow with Ray!Hawley’is certainly enjoying himself though!Judy got her root canal yesterday and had “laughing gas”she loves her dentist.Dolly is back today her mummy gets lots of allegies still no fubu though. The ratties are having great fun at Marty’s place one of them looks a lot like him he looks a very good biznessman!Gosh, tears sprang to my eyes seeing Joey’s gorgeous face today.Did you see the video of the weatherman and the dog?.Have heard Faugheen may run at Gowran Park it was a race Hardy Eustace won before his Champion Hurdle.I overslept this morning and then realised it was my shopping day!Do you remember the story of the dog that was left at the station with all his belongings? He has a new home now a man inquired about him after his Dalmatian died Christmas time and Kai is living with him now.I love happy endings!Have a great Friday eve.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Stay warm, Sheena. Good thing Ray and his bruddahs like snow a lot! Feel better, Judy! Glad Dolly is back. Very nervous about Fubu and his mom! Enjoying the rats on Marty’s page. It will be great when the new residents arrive. So glad one of them has good bizness potential. Always very poignant seeing dear Joey. There will never be another like him. Will look for the weatherman and the dog. Finger crossed for Faugheen! I do seem to remember the story of the dog left at the station. So thrilled he has a new home. Happy Friday Eve. Take care. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

@Marty…..i think we can play TB game today…re-read rules….again….says 3 strikes and you are out…if we each used our second yesterday….should be ok today….but it will be like “sudden death”…
What do you think?
Marty R / Colorado
Dear Carol, I just re read the rules and I didn’t see a three strikes and you are out comment. All I saw was that a loss of all lifelines result in elimination. I also saw that eliminated players will be notified by email and I didn’t get an email. This is puzzling. Have you tried to make a choice for today? I haven’t…not sure if I should try??? Just call me befuddled, Marty R

I got an email today about muddy track…so i made a pick…
Marty R / Colorado
Carol, I went ahead and made a choice for today. Didn’t get an email about the muddy track, but the game didn’t try to block me, either??? Good luck with your pick.
Sue FLCPRC
You have to pick every day. Just go in and make your selection each morning Wed. – Sunday. They don’t send reminder emails like Fantasy Capping. They only send emails when something changes. I am still alive. I won today. I am all out of life lines though. Do you guys have life lines left? This is not even close to Fantasy Capping I think after I am out of the game I will email them some suggestions. Share a moment with them…

I think I’m glad that I wasn’t organized enough to get in on this one. Sounds like the BC Fantasy Capping contest is a lot easier to navigate. Good luck to anyone who is still standing!

Dear all:
I have not done this in a very long time, but there are horses who need us desperately. Any loose change or coffee money would be appreciated and it’s all tax deductible. The thought of their facing slaughter is unthinkable.

Barbara, I certainly wish to contribute to save these beautiful horses and the unborn foals too. I do not use paypal, but I found an address for Horse & Man clicking on contacts. Think that address will work and donation will go to this emergency fund?

Thank you for info Shirlee and MartyR. Such anticipation I have though. I am so grateful for Zenyatta and her foals already. They are gorgeous and we all can have dreams for them. Zenyatta’s welfare will always be No 1 to me and I am sure to the Moss’es and connections. I am happy to know they are breeding back to War Front although Bernidini would be awesome too.

I had an opportunity to visit with a volunteer friend Brenda of CV who also volunteers for the Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary 30 minutes from me. It turned out that at the wildlife sanctuary two baby newborn lambs were born outside and apparently left by the mom. The owner saw two objects in the snow and brought the lambs inside.
He was happy when Brenda said she would take them home to bottle feed etc.
They are so adorable. Brenda has had them for two weeks now so they have gotten a bit bigger. I was able to bottle feed one she calls Boo. It turned very cold here. While she adapted her garage into a stall area with straw as flooring, a large dog crate with straw and blankets for them, she felt it was too cold. She had a corral set up in her kitchen! Within the corral, she put on the floor a tarp and then straw. What she won’t do for animals. I had to laugh though when she said, I just hope the landlord does not drop by! hah She is keeping things surprisingly clean. She rents a small home set back from any other residences. Bee, the female, had severe frost bite on her ears when found at Shalom, and the tips now fell off. Brenda is keeping and eye on one back hoof that looks like it had been frost bit too. This was a special adventure for me today.
hugs, Sally B

Oh my goodness that is so sweet and precious! Baby lambs like that are so delicate and fragile – how wonderful your friend can take such good care of them. Wishing her the best of luck with giving them a great start from now on.

Thanks to Sheena, Judy B., Shirlee, Debbie S., Marty R., and Sally B. for all your kind words about Bailey, Huey and my generous boss. He and his wife have a little terrier/shitzu dog named Sophie who comes to the store with him everyday. It is great to have a dog in one’s place of employment! Sophie is beginning to adjust to the presence of another dog — she had to adjust to Reilly a few years back when he was recovering from surgery, too. Sophie is an “only child” so she feels that she must bark at the interloper to defend her turf! She is very cute and has loads of personality.
Apologies if I left anyone out.
@Carol in Ark : Hope all goes smoothly with the bionic part installation! Sorry that it foils your racing attendance, though. All the very Best Wishes to you for a speedy recovery!
@Sally B.: So happy that you have a portrait of sweet Sir! What a wonderful friend and so talented, too! You deserve the best!
RIP Stay Gold, beautiful boy.

The danger of wielding a big stick is that it can so easily turn on you.
An unwritten law dictates the total downfall of any person or group of persons whose aim it is to manipulate and overrun other people. This is not to say it can’t be done. It is done all the time by intimidation and sarcasm. But nothing lasts that comes through overbearing force.
The underlying principle must be considered in every phase of living. It is the equalizer, the balancing factor that says if we plan to sink someone else’s ship, we had better be good swimmers.

Dear Kathy.i had to laugh computer went off,i thought “here we go again”I had forgotten to charge the battery!!Have’nt heard anything about Herman’s visit yet on Hovis FB!Am sure he’s loving the rest from stressage.Poor Karen and her lick-it arm.It was great to see a post from Fubu and his weight is stable but momma is not very well.Fubu needs her to keep healthy!Sute cute pics of the ratty visitors!Am waiting to meet the new residents next month.Judy had a hellish night after the root canal hadn’t picked up her pain meds thought aspirin would help!Mango is a lucky girl to get a suitcase for herself, she’s going to pack all her purdy dresses and shoes!California look out!I hadn’t visited Justin’s page for a few weeks and was sad to hear Vinny had gained her wings she was a very sick kitten but had found love with Jman,Loki is on a cocktail of drugs I recognize some my father used to take, had no idea furosemide was similar to Lasix dad used to take 3 enalipril each night.Loki hated being in ER and bit the technician. He’s very good at taking his meds though. It’s bitterly cold here today very windy but sun is out.Have a great Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Wow, that must’ve given you a real scare when the computer went off! Keep us posted on Hovis. Fingers crossed he receives a clean bill of health. So glad Fubu is back. Prayers that Kimberly gets back to normal. I’m enjoying all the rats on Marty’s page. Poor Judy in the aftermath of the root canal. I’ve never had one and don’t care to! Sounds horrible. I’ve heard they’re not bad unless you have a dry socket. That must be the case with Judy. Poor thing! Anyway, I’m glad Mango has her very own suitcase. Nothing too good for our Mango! Sorry to hear of Vinny’s passing. May she rest in peace. Hope Loki improves. Stay warm and enjoy the day. TGIF! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
