HAPPY SATURDAY!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. There is some great racing going on around the country today and March Madness continues to be very exciting. So many last minute shots and 3 pointers really change the outcome of a game so quickly. Look at the local Kentucky teams. Louisville lost in the last few moments the other evening and the University of Kentucky secured their win in the final seconds. That is like MY SPORT. A PHOTO FINISH going one way or another or the BOB of a head can be the difference between winning and losing. I guess that is why SPORTING ACTIVITIES are so THRILLING. Every move counts!
Last week when my jockey, MIKE, was going to ride in Arkansas at Oaklawn Park, he called Dottie to mention the huge BILLBOARD he saw with US on it. John contacted his friends at that race track and was able to get a photo of it for ALL OF US to see! Mike’s right…it does LOOK IMPRESSIVE! WIN CITY! I like that thought!
Additionally, I wanted to THANK ALL OF YOU who have been asking about how I am doing in your DIARY responses. I am doing extremely well…and am having SO MUCH FUN! I have been out ‘romping in the paddock’ with my friends every day. We are truly having a great time. We absolutely love it when the wind blows just enough to make it FUN. Sometimes, it feels like the breezes are tickling my coat. When this happens, my friends and I put up our tails and gallop around the field together truly appreciating the outdoors, the wind, and each other. Such special moments!
I’m also enjoying my normal daily routine and all of favorite foods. This week, in addition to bananas and pears, I have been having a special craving for peppermints. I’ve figured out something very special about them. Not only do peppermints TASTE GREAT…but, the other fabulous thing is that my guys here can carry lots and lots of them around in their pockets at all times. That makes them very HANDY and ACCESSIBLE. Thus, every time I nod to one of them, cuddle up, or come to the front of my stall for a pat or a photo …all they have to do is reach in their pockets and VOILA…A TREAT FOR ME! Now, this is TOO CUTE!
Have a fabulous Saturday and Sunday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Zenny and Baby Z – What a beautiful billboard of you. You look so happy – you are really smiling. Your craving stories are too cute. What kind of peppermints are you craving? Is there a special brand that you like? I would love to send you some. You have brought so much joy into my life, that that is the least I could do. Love you beautiful girl. Have a wonderful First Day of Spring. Hugs and Kisses.

Ann from Indiana
I was at the Breeders Cup and will never forget the roar of the crowd when you were coming down the track. You couldn’t hear anything else. I just replayed it on tape; I have most of your races on tape and replay them often. Love the billboard.
Dani
Thanks to Mike Smith and his friend, David Longinotti for the great photo of ‘your’ billboard. The billboard itself is probably a tourist attraction. Sure brings back the days of your racing though. I’m so glad I have the DVD of your races to watch. Everytime I watch, it so inspires me and once again leaves me in awe of your beauty and your magnificent power as well as your grace and your kindness. So many wonderful memories past and now moments present to be cherished. ….I’m glad your peppermint cravings are being met. Be careful though – too many and you might get a tummy ache.

What a wonderful billboard sure brings back so much, and a nice photo as well from Mary Meek. Have a nice day today, it’s raning here so a bit on the cold side. How can you go wrong with peppermints, bananas and pears :) With love as always Z.

Wow Zenyatta! Your facebook has 70,961 fans and still growing! I wonder if you can be the first Thoroughbred Racehorse to get over a million fans on Facebook- that would be TOO CUTE for sure!!!

@Mary Meek, What a glorious photo. It captures Zenyatta’s loving tenderness and it shows, in your expression, how deeply we all cherish who she is and what she means to us. Thank you for sharing the sweetness.
Karey R
@Olga Pikalova, I imagine Zenyatta replying to you “TO Russia with love!”

Zenyatta,

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
This morning, I realized how mixed-up my recollections of the race that reminded me of you were, last evening?? It was the winner of the 10th race, Jordanelle (a 4yr. old filly)…riden by Chantal Sutherland (not Mike Smith), in the silks of Ann and Jerry Moss. I was very surprized to see Mike Smith riding for Stonestreet Stables…but not surprized to see a wonderful, winning run on the lovely 3yr.old colt, Maclean’s Music. Anyway, it was a great day of racing, and The Factor looked great too, at Oaklawn!!
Zenny, wishing you a peaceful, happy, first week of Spring, at Lane’s End Farm.
Fondly, OraJean

Zenny…I’m not giving up hope that we may have the chance to meet you. So far there are two meet and greets with you for charity during the summer so that’s a good start. When the breeding season is over I think what Charles and Mr. Farish said earlier will happen. Your adoring public will see you again. Hooves crossed! On another subject…March Madness sure is exciting. These teams are taking the games right down to the wire…just like you did in many races. :-)

Dearest,Zenyatta. Good morning, from Colorado. So sorry I missed yesterday and I apologize if I get a little long winded today, but alot has been going on. What a difference a couple of days can make. While doctors were checking my mom, she kept telling them she had to be ready to take our driving trip in July. Kentucky here we come! As you would say Zenny, TOO CUTE! She is home from the hospital doing so much better and although not all good news, we know what will be necessary going forward. The expressed concerns, well wishes and prayers were so uplifting, I thank everyone for their positive support. I feel so blessed to be part of your wonderful world, Zenny! So many outstanding individuals coming together in one place, sharing their love of you and of one another as well as concern for the wellfare of the world we live in. I agree with others that we have been spiritually knit together. How fantastic is that :) :) Dottie thank you so much for all that do!!! The picture of Jerry in your stall was so bitter sweet. Thinking of all those once in a lifetime memories together with you and Team Z mixed with the new hopes and dreams for your fabulous future. As you said “he loves you a whole bunch”! Enjoyed seeing the billboard from Arkansas with you and our marvelous Mike!! Thanks to Mike also for everything he is doing on his facebook site. Loved your peppermint story, Zenny :) I feel so badly that I never got to share one with you out of my own hand, but no matter what I hear Zenny, I will never give up the dream of meeting you. I do believe that miracles both large and small occur everyday. May you and yours continue to be blessed with only the best in life. Hope you and those beautiful “paddock gal pals” are enjoying a Sunday bathed in sunshine and soft breezes. Sweet dreams, always. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Shari Voltz – Hope you are continuing to heal from your fall. I have found we just do not bounce like we did in our youth. :) Thank you for your prayers, I hope you know you are always in my thoughts as well. And just for you, GO BUCKS!!
@Barbara Wood – Your Irish Blessing was absolutely beautiful. It brought tears, but also comfort at the same time. Thanks to Kathryn Cogswell for the link. I hope some others enjoyed it as well. Hope you are doing wonderfully in your recovery :)
@Karen Mitchell – Thank you for everything.
@DJ – Thank you for the Saint Joseph prayer.
@Mary M. Meek – Your picture was so touching.
@Sharon Call – Regina from NJ – Peggy – Thank you all for your wonderful thoughts and prayers and for your great comments about the Mayo Clinic. I regret that you all have had to experience visits, but your positive comments make me more confident in my decision to seek advice from the experts there. I will be going to the location in Scottsdale at the end of May.
@AudreyC – I thought the quote from Einstein was great. And I agree that all of us coming together because of our love of the beautiful Zenyatta and what has occurred since with all of us is wonderfully spiritual! As the beautiful song by Charice voices, we are sending our “Notes To God” with the comments posted here.

Queen Z, what a great billboard! And what a joy it is to read about how happy you are, how much fun you are having, and how your people are keeping peppermints in their pockets for you. Dottie, as Zenyatta’s secretary you are amazing as well as TOO CUTE! :)
@Shari Voltz and any other teachers and parents out there, please see Dani’s link to the Zenyatta Coloring Book, as well as Mike Smith’s facebook page. He will sign the book for any kids who color all the pages and then go to visit him at the track.
How wonderful it is to be a part of this Zenyatta community. I don’t post very often, but I check in every day and love reading Z’s diary and all of your comments. Sending positive thoughts to all of you who are suffering, whether you are writing in or not. Z has brought us all together with her big spirit.
Thanks to her generous, big hearted connections, we can all be touched by this magnificent mare.

Hi everyone–Just getting mu “Zenny” fix for today.
Hope you are having a marvelous day, Z. Spring is here–YIPPEE! Hope you are kicking up your heels. Love you always.

Dear Zenyatta, Too many peppermints could be dangerous to your health. Too much sugar can lead to insulin resistance which can lead to laminitis. Carrots are good for you. They are an excellent source of biotin for your hooves + protein and other vitamins and minerals. My brother and I always stuffed all 6 of our pockets full of carrot pieces for the horses at the riding stable and made sure we gave some to every horse. My horses get carrots every day but never any candy or sweet feed. We want you to stay healthy so please do not eat lots of peppermints.

Glad everythings going great for you Zenyatta! I break my neck every day to check your diary. I feel bad for Mario. I have groomed and been an asst. trainer for 30 years and I know how attached grooms get to the horsers they groomand, horses become attached to their grooms! I can’t even imagine how much M

Queen Mom Z…did we have brunch today? I had my pears and bananas ready to join you. Loved the Billboard Z, you and Mike were quite a pair!! Mike and Terry Wallace spent time in Nebraska in their early days at our racetrack called AKSARBEN. So they both feel like old friends. Terry Wallace comes back in July to call races at Horsemen’s Park.
We miss our daily races here, we are thankful to see TVG to keep up with all of racings stars.
Have a wonderful day Zenny.
Janis
Zenyatta, what can I say that hasn’t been said before today. The accolades and kudos just keep coming as you are a legend in your time. Enjoy those peppermints!

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Thank you for sharing the billboard of you and your Mikie with Us! What a welcoming surprise from Arkansas : ) Our son Michael is almost 20, 6ft and is still ‘Mikie’ to us :) Enjoy your little treats…everything in moderation, life is short and passes quickly. For those in need of a prayer: “Pray, hope and don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer. Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God’s heart.” Padre Pio
