Wow, this is ONE of my FAVORITE BLOOD-HORSE MAGAZINE COVERS!
Good Morning Everyone!
The most interesting thing has happened. Dottie’s sister, Patti, sent her a FACEBOOK page which showed ME on the cover of 16 BLOOD-HORSE MAGAZINES.
I gather from this they actually did 3 different covers for the 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR issue…and ultimately selected the one they used. It is a great photo (if I say so myself) of ME! Too cute! On that cover, I am looking to the right and my coat is GLOWING! I think ALL of ME is actually GLOWING as it is such a fabulous and proud achievement to be awarded such an honor.
I thought it would be fun to share these covers with you. As MY TEAM had not seen this presentation of them yet, it was a great walk down MEMORY LANE for all of us! My first cover was May 30, 2009. This is the issue created after I’d won The Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park…marking my TENTH WIN IN A ROW…and my 10-0 record!
Here is the link for the 16 covers. You will see the 14 they used and then the 2 alternates they debated upon for the HORSE OF THE YEAR issue. When you double-click on the cover, the entire photo pops up along with a description at the bottom telling you when the magazine was issued and what race the cover is celebrating!
Enjoy! This was sure FUN for MY TEAM and I hope it is for you also! It really looks amazing to see all of the covers placed on one page.
I hope I am not being too bold in saying…I think I’m rather photogenic! Blush, Blush!
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Hi Zenny: This was fun. I have quite a few of those magazines myself. I sure do wish I had saved all of them. I was just thinking today how much I am going to miss you. I just received a new issue of The Blood Horse magazine, and I was looking for an article about you. You are going to be so missed. I can’t even begin to imagine how your CA fans must feel. Oh well, all good things must come to an end for all new journeys to begin. We can certainly see how much you are enjoying your retirement. Oh, BTW, what was the gift to Bernie? I didn’t get a chance to write to you yesterday. You must have been so happy to see your Mom, Ann Moss. What a pleasant surprise that must have been. You mentioned she helped you with a gift to Bernie. But you didn’t say what the gift was. You have us all is suspense. You know what, you haven’t mentioned anything about your good friend, “Life is Sweet.” Did she have your foal? Would love to hear how she is doing. Take care Zenny. Love, Linda

I love all your covers, Queen Z!
Endless thanks to you and your wonderful connections who take the time to keep us up-to-date about you.
I truly miss looking forward to your races and watching your amazing performances on the track, but could not be happier that you have begun this next phase of your life in such good health and with such a great attitude. Your team has always taken the very best care of you and you have rewarded and inspired us all.
And now, to turn all this positive energy into helping others is just another example of the how special Team Z is. You are simply the best.
Checking for your updates has become a happy (and often educational) break that I look forward to every day. THANK YOU!

Got your print today from CA. Love you.

Majestic, mythical, magical….I LOVE this photo of Zenyatta, with her jeweled browband. One word encapsulates it -she looks so “regal.” I searched high & low, for the “perfect” browband for my red dun, red maned, appendix mare. I finally found the perfect one – it was a POH brand. (People on Horses – they design browbands for the U.S. Equestrian Olympics team) The browband is lined in alternate rectangle & round, champagne & white colored swarovski crystals…(I got it on sale)….my mare looks regal wearing it, and I feel regal riding her in it. Zenyatta didn’t need anything else..still – it gave her that extra glitz. What fun! Actually, jewelry for horses go way, way back in history. The “Naja”, which is now seen on many southwestern ladies’ necklaces, actually goes back to the Moors. This symbol was one depicting wealth & prosperity, and the Moors used jeweled replicas of this symbol, attached to the bridles of their horses. The Spanish copied this tradition, bringing it to the new world, and passed it on to the Native Americans, who carried on the tradition. Somehow, the Naja, from being a jeweled ornament for the horse, through the years, became a necklace for women.

Hello Zenyatta, I do agree with you on your favorite Blood Horse Cover, Zenyatta Racing Queen. That whole artical was just wonderful. I have that commemorative Blood Horse special. I just love it. I agree with the photo that they chose for 2010 HOY. You are so beautiful. You have to be so proud of yourself for so much that you that you had accomplished in your racing time. It was so amazing and many people are still remembering so well the Zenyatta time. It is really unforgetable. Time goes on and the memory and the love of Zenyatta is still there. Spring is near and I am hopeing for many happy times for you dear Zenny. Hopefully you can bask in the sun with your friends and maybe recall your racing fun times. It is fun to go back and remember the exciting fun times of your racing life. Sending you loads of love dearest Zenyatta the Queen of them all.

You are just cute as a button Z.

I know you loved to pose, to dance for pictures… :)

Wow – I have all of my Bloodhorse issues put into a container – I should have all of your issues. The commemorative one is one of my favorites and is on display in our living room. I have received the poster of you and Secretariat. It is gorgeous. Need to get a perfect frame for it and decide where to put it. We will have to rearrange some of our walls to accommodate it. We have so many pictures of you and many of my favorites, especially Lost in the Fog. Can’t wait to get your sculpture. That is a Valentine’s/Wedding Anniversary present to me from hubbie. Love him so!!! Take care, stay toasty, eat well, and have fun with your BBFs you Angel in Disguise.

Holy Toledo! You put all those other cover girls to shame.

So much great information in this post #99. I have most of the magazines and have framed some of them for my “Z” wall. It makes me happy just to see them in the morning in the loft/library. Pictures of my own pets and you. I love the person’s post of the California Horse Float at the Rose Parage. I think its a great idea. I hope it can be pursued. Even if for reason you couldn’t be on it; a California Racehorse, i. e. “Lava Man” or Rail Trip or tomorrow’s winner of the Santa Anita Derby??? And the rescued Thoroughbred idea???? Just the best suggestion. See what you inspire in all of us? To do better by example. and I agree, you have no bad side. Even top models prefer certain angles. You are beautiful and photogenic no matter where the camera snaps. You are a Super Model times 10 or actually x 19- and as Ann said, “if you had stuck your tongue out, you might have been first” or some thing like that. I remember reading it and thinking what a great sense of humor she has. You were already a winner when you stepped into your post position that evening. Thank you Dottie for the great post today and every day.

The commemorative one really shows you as a racing champion and I’m so glad it shows off the signature white hair in your ears. My favorite is the HOY 2010, no shadow roll or bit, majestic head, eye, and look close you will see the white hair in your ears. Simply majestic Zenyatta.
Dawn Conrad
Dearest, Zenyatta. Well beautiful, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then you my lovely write volumes. I especially love your Commemorative Collectors Issue. It is on a small table in my den along with Secretariat’s Commemorative and Barbaro’s, accompanied by your figurine as well. This is under the very large Fred Stone portrait across from the new lithograph and the list goes on. Too much? NEVER!! No matter where I look, your wonderfully expressive eyes are gazing back at me and that just makes me smile. There are additional pieces with Rachel, Barbaro and Secretariat among others. I absolutely love to read, so between the wonderful items I listed and the bookcases filled to overflowing, I am very happy in my den. Dottie, please be sure to give your sister a huge thank you from us for sharing the Bloodhorse covers. I take the magazine and visit their website often. They certainly provide a wonderful walk down memory lane. So many amazing moments we shared with you Zenny! And more to come!! Sleep well cover girl and as always, sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Shari Voltz – Hello my special Z friend. Thank you for thinking of me. I always love hearing from you. Hope everything is well with you also. Isn’t it nice that we seem to share a passion for all things, Zen. What a special joy it must have been to speak to Ann on the phone. I can’t imagine how fun was that! It sounds like she was just as warm in your conversation as I imagine she would be.
@Lou Ann – Thank you for the information about Horse Illustrated. I will have to look for it.

Great covers, but of course, when you are beautiful on the inside, you will always glow on the outside. Talking of good looking, have you seen the new pix of your guy Bernardini on his fb page today? Oh my, if only I were a horse! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=192704620761174&set=a.183701814994788.43400.183698388328464&theater
GOOD LUCK ZAZU, she is running at Santa Anita on Saturday, tough field, Bernardini’s daughter, A Z Warrior is in the same race.

Can’t wait to see post #100

@Donna C
The ‘white hair’ in her ears isn’t hair. It’s cottonballs. She wore cottonballs in her ears when she was at the race course as a way to muffle noise and help her focus on the task at hand.
Cheryl
When I left my last post I found myself in tears. I just love you and I dont know what it is about you but my heart is so open to you. You are the love and the kindness that is missing in the world. Can we hold on to you so that we can have hope? It is so overwhelming the scope of love and acceptance that you are generating and it is overwhelming for me sometimes. I just really really love you.
Diana
Supermodel Z, beautiful cover girl you are! I love how you look like you’re smiling in most of the racing photos. It’s as if you knew and you probably did, that someone was snapping your picture.
Dottie, thank you SO much for all the time you take to bring Z to us almost everyday. I know it is a big committment and you make it special every time. I really want to thank you also for your post about pedigree. My horse racing connections talk about it all the time, which led me to start reviewing pedigree on horse, but I never understood why they listed foals for the mare when they always listed the sire first. You made it perfectly understandable and now I can appreciate what I’m reading. Thanks again!
Hugs and kisses!

Great pic Zenyatta, great Z team and please keep up the good work in keeping us posted and interested in every move. Too many racehorses go by the wayside and we never know it until it is too late. I just watched a special on HRTV, Ferdinand. Disgusting that we are so foolish at times! Now poor Smarty Jones is being shuttled to Urguay, hope all is better for him.
Linda
@JLG thank you for keeping us updated on Zenyatta’s training partner El Vino!
@ Shari Voltz You would have been my dream teacher as a child! I have always loved horses.
Zennie, you are the reason why I bought a subscription to the Blood Horse magazine! I am also your unofficial public relations person in Northeast Ohio…I have introduced you to many people thru photos & my talk of your accomplishments. So many co-workers & friends never heard of you (shock) last year. I never thought they were truly listening or interested when I spoke of you. Then after the Breeder’s Cup Classic, each person told me they watched you race! My friends told me that they were screaming at the televison, encouraging you & wishing for that win. At the end, everyone saw what I saw that night-true greatness & an unbelievable effort. These are people who never talk horses or follow racing. Now they ask about you & I give them updates. They are interested in your sister Eblouissante too. Your magic just keeps on spreading. Thanks to Dottie for keeping this diary going! Your connections are the best ever! Please tell Ann she looked so beautiful with you in your photo together. Have a nice weekend to all!
Elizabeth
Zennie you are the most beautiful ‘Cover-Girl’! We, my husband and I, have your cover photo (the one shown above) framed and in our living room! ‘You’ are alongside our favorite beautiful paintings. Your daily posts are so encouraging to us all. There’s always so much going on in our families – especially the past year with cancer illnesses. Thanks so much, Dottie, for giving us a chance to be reminded of the ‘wonder’ful blessings of Zennie and her news.
As always – God’s many blessings to you all.
Patti
Great cover photos. I have them, too. I have pictures of you framed in my house, too. I have you at work in my office so I can see your beautiful face all day long. Thank you for keeping us updated daily. I love to check here and see what our favorite lady is doing.
