Wow, this is ONE of my FAVORITE BLOOD-HORSE MAGAZINE COVERS!
Good Morning Everyone!
The most interesting thing has happened. Dottie’s sister, Patti, sent her a FACEBOOK page which showed ME on the cover of 16 BLOOD-HORSE MAGAZINES.
I gather from this they actually did 3 different covers for the 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR issue…and ultimately selected the one they used. It is a great photo (if I say so myself) of ME! Too cute! On that cover, I am looking to the right and my coat is GLOWING! I think ALL of ME is actually GLOWING as it is such a fabulous and proud achievement to be awarded such an honor.
I thought it would be fun to share these covers with you. As MY TEAM had not seen this presentation of them yet, it was a great walk down MEMORY LANE for all of us! My first cover was May 30, 2009. This is the issue created after I’d won The Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park…marking my TENTH WIN IN A ROW…and my 10-0 record!
Here is the link for the 16 covers. You will see the 14 they used and then the 2 alternates they debated upon for the HORSE OF THE YEAR issue. When you double-click on the cover, the entire photo pops up along with a description at the bottom telling you when the magazine was issued and what race the cover is celebrating!
Enjoy! This was sure FUN for MY TEAM and I hope it is for you also! It really looks amazing to see all of the covers placed on one page.
I hope I am not being too bold in saying…I think I’m rather photogenic! Blush, Blush!
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

@Judy Gadwood–your post today made me cry. I SO understand. I was fortunate enough to see John Henry at KHP before he left us, but I wasn’t so fortunate with Alysheba (our horse’s “great uncle”) He died 2 months before our scheduled trip. Our Z is filling voids on different levels for many of us, and I believe she was sent by God to hurting hearts.

You look great,Big Girl! I totally agree. Super photogenic! I love the pics where you’re stickin’ out you TONGUE! :D

@ Judy Gadwood:
Your comment was very touching. I am a John Henry fan, too. It is amazing that you got to see him up close!

Girlfriend, even if you *weren’t* photogenic (which you most certainly ARE!!) I think you’ve MORE than earned the right to brag on yourself! What gorgeous covers they are. The only shame of it all is that it took until 2009 and 10-in-a-row for you to get your first cover. I guess all those people “in the know” in your sport really DON’T know talent when they see it, if it took until #10 for them to realize what all your fans knew from Day #1!! You’ve got it all,Sister Zen! Looks, talent, and temperament – the Perfect Package!!
Love you, Sweet Zen!

Alex Bowdoin
I love all the cover pictures! Thank you Dottie, I love the “Blush Blush”. Too Cute
Pat Beck
I have the Commemorative photo of you in my office, with a different Santa Margarita photo at home next to the lovely rendering of you done for charity. It’s like touching the spirit world to have you in our lives. The photo of you in the BH cover below RA exemplifies the difference in your careers–your ears are up; hers are plastered back. Hope she’s as happy now as you are.
Abby
You are VERY photogenic!! I loved all the pictures of you Z! You are so gorgeous Zenny and I just love you so much. I also want to thank everyone who is involved with making this website possible! I was so nervous I wouldn’t be able to know what was going on in your life after you retired. If I could hug you I would! So I’ll give you an Internet hug….*HUG!!*

My sweet lovable Z! Please, there is no need to blush because you are so stuningly gorgeous. Seeing all these covers is a memory road for sure; for you, and thanks to Dottie, to us too! I ordered the commerative issue as soon as I got back from supporting you at 2010 Breeders Cup. There is only one you Z.
I wish I could order the picture of you snuggling over Mario’s shoulder photographed by Barbara Livingston that was on your facebook pictures I believe. I need that one to add to my special wall of you Z!! Hope you & family have a fun week-end. Love, hugs, & a kiss on your soft nose.

I would love to have something like this on a t-shirt. Does anyone know if anything like this exists? Just beautiful and totally captures our girl’s spirit ande intelligence, those wonderful eyes and, of course, the EARS!
LauraJ
@highgrove corgis, she does indeed have cotton in her ears. John Shirreffs puts cotton in the ears of his horses to minimize distractions, and I assume also because his barn is right under the LAX flightline.

Absolutely stunning, Zenny! I just had a Guiness in your honor!

Dearest Zenyatta,
This picture–along with four other beautiful pictures of you–graces my refrigerator. I hope you will excuse the plebian spot–maybe not quite right for a queen–but I can see them from the kitchen table, which I use all the time not just for eating but also as a desk for correcting papers and planning lessons, etc.(I am a teacher of English as a Second Language), so I can see these pictures pretty much all the time and gather spiritual inspiration and encouragement from you always!
Good luck to the Mosses’ filly Zazu in the Santa Anita Oaks tomorrow.

Hi Zenyatta- I just found out that Hines Ward from the Steelers is going to be on the next Dancing with the Stars, is that who you were talking about being on the show, or was it someone else?
Mary
Zenyatta, I miss your name not being announced for upcoming races :( sniff sniff I am so excited for your new job as “Mommy Zenyatta”, but still…..
miss you. Hugs and Prayers
oh,yes, you are soooo photogenic Zenyatta
Jennifer Adelman
Dear Zenyatta, I don’t think I have ever seen a bad photo of you, if there is such a thing! Ann Moss allways looks so happy and hers and Dotties clothes, hats etc.. I just love!!
Love & hugs!
Shema
Dear Zen, you’ve got great friends and family! what a lucky girl! well, but those who give a lot receive a lot, so expect nothing but the best, cuz that’s what you have given. You are such a beauty and yes, we seem to all be in agreement that you are photogenic to the max! Love seeing all the BloodHorse covers. I love how your scrap book is growing.
The Commemorative Issue is my favorite all time picture of you so far. Your lady beauty comes through so perfectly. FYI to everyone, when you get this issue you also get another copy of the cover photo. I have it in my living room and I see you everyday! Makes me so happy!
Note to Ann Maree … you’re right about Dialed In, same thrilling end run in Holy Bull, like our beloved Zen.
By the way, just wondering Zen, can we have brunch together again this Sunday. I was memorized by you eating your pear. How do you do it? You’ve got some real magic!
Maria
I have a copy of this issue. You look marvelous Queen Z. I love you!
Trina Nagele
Zenny, I forgot to say that in my living room I have that wonderful tapestry throw of you winning the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic–I have it strechted over a frame so it looks like a big beautiful oil painting of you! I love seeing you every day.
Many, many thanks to Dottie for making all these Blood Horse photos available to us.
Love to you and Team Z,
Trina

Hi Zenny and all: Beautiful pics– I wonder just how many albums John and Dottie, Mr and Mrs Moss have of you– I think looking at pictures takes you back to that very moment and you remember things said and done — like your right there again with them- living those great times again and again. Happy week-end everyone. Janet C

Oops- typo–I meant “stretched.”

3:40 PM PST and I just watched your old training partner win at Santa Anita. Never thought I would see the day when I could sit in my computer chair and watch the races and even get as excited as if I was there!
You trained him well and now he knows he can win too. Announcer even said El Vino looked around and said, “Zenyatta isn’t here, I can beat these guys,” and he did! Well Done, El Vino.
Di O'Briant
Beautiful just beautiful. Miss seeing you race, but now you have another great adventure being a MOM. Can’t wait for the wonderful news. Love you

This is one my favorites, too, Zenny! It’s the first one of you that I had framed, which I just love. Not only are you “rather photogenic,” but also the most photographed being these last few years, with Mario coming in a very close second! Speaking of close, have you heard how “sister” is doing (Life is Sweet)? She’s getting pretty close now to being a mama, isn’t she? I hope and pray all goes well for her and all expectant mothers at this time. I hope you’re feeling fine and you sound perfectly happy. You mention above that you’re “glowing” on the cover, as you always have–could that be a hint of what we’re about to hear in a few days? You’ve got that “glow” about you?!?!? I can’t believe how much more happiness we feel each passing day with you! You’re Heaven sent, my dear! Much love to you and your family!
Especially Horses
No doubt about it you are a beauty. Just this week I received my Queen Zenyatta lithograph, signed by Jockey Mike Smith (147/500). But prior to my lithograph I had three 8×10 glossy photos of you professionally framed. They are all in one frame that is slightly less than three feet in length. The first photo is you in all your racing glory-nose to tail, all four feet off the ground, followed by a beautiful headshot of you at the barn, and then another racing photo. The framing job turned out so lovely with beige matting and a black frame. I can’t wait to have my new lithograph framed. It will join my signed/numbered print of Majestic Prince (Johnny Longden, up) and my original oils of two racehorses from the 1940’s – Moneybags and Duplicator (both sired by Beau Pere). I found both oils in the corner of an antiques shop and ever since I have called them “my racehorses”, even did research on their bloodlines and racing records. The “boys” will look even better now that there is a Queen in the room with them.
